holy fuck you got low on that squat.

in high school we had to squat for football and if you got 300 pounds you would get a t shirt from the coach. so i put 300 on, do it once am all excited and i hear coach behind me go "not low enough, do it again". so i go back to do it again, go a little lower andddd im falling. weight slams down on neck/rack. put weight back up and tried again, same result. have not squated since (13 years)

good luck man!

i used to squat 225 lbs at 160 lbs. but i think squatting 4-6 reps in general is pretty dangerous and a terrible routine for most people unless you are specifically focused on weightlifting.

wtf, go squat

Really digging the challenge and flexibility+balance building of the overhead squat and front squat. Maybe those will be useful for you. I have simply been squatting the bar. The benefits are huge. I look great due to the posture assist (a bit thin/weak -- I have been low calorie or straight up fasting for the better part of the last year) and that is a nice bonus.

I maxed something like 305 for a couple reps at 135 but I was in college. in general I think weight lifting wasted a lt of my time.

I beat Loco!!!

Yeah used to front squat for more strength and overhead squat for the flexibility and improved posture, I'm so beat up by know I'm ok with being able to do the powerlifts. I can heal after the meet,

@mnj

I strongly disagree, a solid base of strength is an incredible foundation to prevent injuries and move efficiently in general. I'd say something like 1.5-2x body weight squat (depending on the sport, lower for soccer and higher for something like golf) is easily achievable within a year. From there switch to more explosive work (cleans and high jumps)

Most team athletes (rugby, football, soccer etc) focus way too much on cardio and do circuit training on the gym, which benefit is negligible in my opinion. Better to do more strength training and more time on the field.
