Its a good niche to go for, site needs alot of work though, mainly on making it quick n easy to browse n post. It has to be super quick for the user, no wasted clicks, so that the info they want is right there. sidebars are good.
Steal the scource code from LP and hack around with it imo  (though obv yeah, not that easy and still a ton of work)
Also, it seems like you are trying to do 2 things, have a blag and have a forum. If you want to grow a forum you will have to put in alot of time n effort posting content (starting interesting threads) and replying to posts, so why not put all the content on the forums? Idk, I does SEO come in here?
blog articles are well written, you write good copy.
You probably don't want ads at first, cause ads aren't cool. after the site is humming I imagine you could make some deals directly with D3 auction houses?
Also to get a good core of users could play alot of D3 yourself and make friends in game, and cont whatever ingame discussion you were having with them on the site. similar to a clan-site, like how team liquid started.
