So like many, since black Friday I've been dabbling a lot live.

Been doing pretty well, but I feel as my game is very stagnant and maybe regressing due to lack of number hands put in, the fact I'm playing with nothing but awful players most of the time, lack of easily and accurate ways to review sessions.

I guess I could put money on merge and grind there, but I'm not sure how I feel about having money on there with all the bad press coming out recently. Not to mention my last stint on there was some awful run bad.

So what kind of things are people who now play live doing to improve their game these days?

Also how do you guys think traditional online methods transfer to ones live play?

As in videos/reading hand histories/trying to memorize hands and come home write them down and then break them down.

I feel this is likely the obvious answer, but am not confident in them due to the difference in the two games.

Can earn a lot by limping suited connectors and low pairs, in live it's usually frequent that a lot of ppl just limp around, but when the flop comes, they don't realize how drastic the game changes from when it's 1 or 2 people in a hand, than when it's 3-6 people in a hand.

Also a lot of value to isolate big, and to steal from the nits to get crazy image. That makes the new guys, who arent regulars fancy you more and go out of their way to play pots with you.

Rarely do the bad ones, or recreational ones pay attention, so cool to steal flops with half bet, and closer to pot when it's for value.

3b the loose ones with 13-15% of hands, and 3b the nits with just air, suited high low cards etc, and only fight back when they 3b you and you actually have a hand, they won't get away from it.

@mariuslol, I definitely understand the fundamentals of live play. I'm doing well live, just looking for ways to keep my game sharp/improve.

More so looking for generals ways to improve my game. Such as improving online play by training sites & online hand discussions and session reviews.

I tried to look at some live poker hand discussions on 2+2 but most of the advice seemed pretty awful.

live gets pretty deep, so just remember to stay sharp as stacks get deeper, losing a 6 or 8 buyin pot at live will take forever to recover, so stay sharp as stacks get bigger is all i say

Biggest thing is to pay attention during hands you're not in so you can see exactly how people play on certain boards. The worst thing is seeing a big pot on the river and not knowing how it got that big. Even if you see their hands you have already lost a shit ton of valuable information. It's hard because 90% of the time you don't learn anything about their hole cards so it can feel like a wasted effort, but you have to force the effort to make it a habit to watch even when you're having a conversation at the table with your neighbor.
