Day 5 - just one of those days
   TianYuan, December 05

11,685 vpps collected this month
32,166 to go

I honestly didn't play well, but I ran like complete garbage -_-
Got way too passive and had a shitty image pretty much everywhere. 2 barrels never worked, everyone folded when I had something, if I had jacks, he had queens, if I had 2pair, the board would pair and counterfeit it etccccccccccccccccc.

Bleh.

I think top set cost me about 3 or 4 buyins today.

It's 2 am but I'm gonna go for a run -.-

EDIT: I had a hilarious W$WSF of 34.7% and an AF of 2.7.. It's kinda hard to win pots when you miss every single board and get called every single time tho.

EDIT2:
I guess the won without showdown number isn't that great, but at least I can say I'm running bad in all-in situations

One thing I've been having trouble with is playing hands like 88-99, or KJ/KQ whatever, since people don't give up nearly as often as they do at .5/1 It's harder to play those hands when 9 tabling 1/2 than .5/1 for sure.

Like I have 99 on a 776 flop, I don't know if I want to raise his cbet, but I also don't know if I want to check call check call etc, meh. Probably just good to c/r them a bunch, protect likely best hand and make my check/raises less 'nuts, air or draw'.

There was also a hand I really really misplayed, JJ UTG, 3 callers, including two GIGANTIC donks (like '3rd worst pair in a 3bet pot to a raise on the flop, I probably should call down').. One of the donks (the biggest donk) leads a 789 flop super weak (he does this with any pair) so I call cause eh, raising with 3 others in the pot is kinda bad.

Second donk calls as well, turn is rag. He makes another retard bet. River is a ten and I obv have essentially the nuts, anyway, he bets bigger and I figure he probably has nothing so I just call trying to get an overcall.. Which in hindsight, I realize was completely retarded. I managed to forget there was a lower end straight too, lost soooooooo sick much value, since he'd probably have called a raise at least. Dunno if he'd stacked off (150bb deep).

I shouldn't complain tho, this is my total month so far, I ran pretty good at NL100, a couple of buyins above expectation there. Still would hav been more fun to run good at 1/2

I'm sure I'm losing way more than I should in non-showdown hands tho, need to work on that..

Day 4 - NL200
   TianYuan, December 04

5k hands of 1/2
35k VPPs to go before supernova (8.8k cleared so far this month in 20k hands).

Some NL200. Biggest difference seems to be more aggressive regs, and way less super soft tables. I don't mean that the tables are super hard or anything (millions of idiots), but it takes quite a bit more searching to find tables that look good (ie lots of guys with 70~80bb, since most regs tend to top-off pretty fast if they drop below 100bb).

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328732 - Valuebetting (lol)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328599 - Didn't want to 3bet cause the initial opener is pretty loose so I'll get into a weird spot and he'd probably pay off fairly well if I flopped well. ZekGB is pretty fond of squeezing too so this worked out nicely, nice to win a flip with all that dead money

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328594 - Gross turn but what can you do -_-?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328549 - Bleh, on the flop I was sure he had a really bad hand. Probably standard turn check/behind tho.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328593 - Aghagbafsfs
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328559 - URghsag - betsizing could have been better tho.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328550 - Fgjgghfggggggggggggggggggggggg, I guess this is why my note on him said 'retard'.
Or maybe I made that note after this hand, I don't really remember.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328800 - Boooooooooh. Snapshove to rep AK and 2+2 guy calls after tanking for a while (I assume he's 2p2 since he has the 2+2 deity, Omgclayaiken/Jman, as his avatar). Flop was =[

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328803 - luckbox obviously.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328804 - Yeah, I'm sure your hand is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaal big.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328805 - Uh, wasn't expecting that.

Day 3
   TianYuan, December 03

5071 hands played
A bit over 2k VPPs cleared
37.6k VPPs to go

Ran a bit worse today than the previous days (lol run bad at 4.7ptbb/100.. right), but also felt like I played a bit worse. Although this could of course be explained by the tables being a little less good (they were ridiculously donktastic this weekend), and just playing some people who weren't too fond of folding.

My W$WSF was ridiculously low tho so I probably did something wrong. Maybe didn't 2 barrel enough or steal checked pots enough.

Not a lot of interesting hands.. But I did have to fold KK pre-flop once (that makes it about 2 or 3 folds in like 7~800 000 hands).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/328037

Up just over 2k for the month, still undecided if I'll do 1/2 or just .5/1 until I'm supernova and then jump into the crypto 2/5 games.

EDIT: Wee, 2.8~k finally arrived in neteller. Now there's only 4k left on rednines, which I have to wait until I hear back from support before I can move.

Quest for Supernova - 43~k vpps in 1 month
   TianYuan, December 02

So, I've decided: I need to get supernova before the month is over. That means playing about 5k hands a day (ok so technically I don't have to, I can get away with a bit less, but there'll probably be days - ie christmas - when I don't feel like playing, so 5k sounds good), which when 9 tabling translates to about 6 hours of poker a day.

Cleared 4k FPPs.

Playing NL100 until I get all my money from rednines onto stars (although I'm kinda rolled for 1/2 again on stars, despite cashing out 2k ).

How different is 1/2 on stars from .5/1 btw? I kinda need to 9 table at least to do this, and 9 tabling .5/1 on stars is pretty easy (it feels so relaxing compared to getting 3bet every hand when playing 1/2 on prima).

UFC 79 - First Blog
   Nazgul, November 30

Welcome to my super-awesome blog. Even though it is likely I give up on this within a couple days there exists a small chance of me keeping up with the hassle of your entertainment. Though small it is worthy. I'm not sure what I intend to write about on this blog. I will probably try to limit writing about poker as much as possible. Unless obviously I am in a bad streak and feel the need to post screenshots of my sklansky (whatever the crap those may be) bucks to show I don't actually suck but am mostly unlucky.

Other than that I intend to be writing in detail about things that are going on with LP and projects we are working on. Secret info might just happen to leak through this blog. Since most LP stuff is highly classified and this blog could quickly become boring I will also be talking about MMA betting. I'm trying to see if it's possible to actually be profitable in sportsbetting. So far I have made over 100 bets and have learned a lot with a slight profit. Without redepositing I luckboxed my way up a massive $500 on my $1500 starting bankroll by betting small most of the time. 2008 will be the year to take MMA betting to the next level!

MMA is pretty much my biggest hobby these days. Although once I start making big bucks from predicting the future it will longer be a hobby.

I use http://www.bestfightodds.com/ to find lines that are worth putting money on. For UFC 79 5Dimes and BetCRIS are the ones that have had the lines for a long time, all the others were recently released.

First off a quick peek at the Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale with Clay Guida vs Roger Huerta. Even though multiple sites had the lines for this online for a few weeks and Guida is at -140/-145 for most of them Pinnacle made me very happy when they released their UFC lines today; they were all off by miles. I managed to quickly put $140 on Guida at -121. I do think Huerta is a very good fighter but he is really unproven whereas Guida has gone to war with the best fighters in the division. Huerta is probably overhyped and should have been fighting better fighters already. Little note to Roger: just because you look good doesn't mean you can beat The Carpenter buddy. You're in for a surprise.

Then on to UFC 79 itself which features three awesome matches. If these fights actually happen it is safe to say that this is the best card UFC has ever put up. During UFC79 Raszi will probably give me an angry call about forgetting his birthday but so be it.

The first match being Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva. Of course Silva is a freaking monster and it's pretty clear Chuck is not a very good fighter and only knows how to beat strong wrestlers with weak standup. He is a bit similar to Crocop because they are both so hard to take down, except that Crocop doesn't have mediocre striking and Chuck does. There is a good chance Wanderlei is going to expose Chuck for what he is; a drunk with a giant tummy.

WHAT THE FUCK CHUCK?

Anyway beforehand I was thinking Wanderlei was the favorite in this fight and when the lines came out he started at EV (basically +100) and I immediately put the max $200 on him. The lines quickly moved into Wandy being the favorite and rightfully so. Now Wandys line is hanging between -120 and -130. However Pinnacle to the rescue even though some other sites had the lines for weeks and had him at -120 Pinnacle came with the brilliant idea to open him at +101 and I managed to put another $140 on him.

Machida vs Sokoudjou is really hard to predict, but I have the feeling Sokoudjou isn't going to outstrike Machida and will have a very hard time taking him down. I wouldn't be shocked if he managed to upset me though. Anyway Machida at -118.

After Matt Serra dropped out due to an injury one day later the UFC actually did something cool. They announced GSP vs Hughes. Now I don't have a clue why Hughes took this fight because he had a good chance of beating Serra and becoming the champion again. This mans ego is going to be his downfall. I don't see any way of Hughes taking this fight. At least Chuck has the capability to knock someone out, same for Sokoudjou. But who are we kidding Hughes' t-rex arms aren't going to knock out anybody. He has very little chance of upsetting. His skillset is completely built to dominate but once he faces a better fighter there's simply not much room in his arsenal for upsetting. Unfortunately I had to take GSP at -250. Today pinnacle also released a weird line on this one and had it -206 so I put some extra money at him. I guess we'll soon be seeing that one at -250.

Recap:

blablablabal, chuck is a drunk, blablabla Guida/Silva/Machida/GSP plz win.

Chuck 'I need subtitles' Liddell:

vs

Wanderlei Silva

GG.

F*ck You Canada!
   JonnyCosMo, November 27

Just took a social psychology test about 30 mins ago and pretty much got raped. Finally I get to the last question on the test and I see a curve ball thrown out:

If you fly due south from Detroit Michigan, what is the first foreign country you fly over?

a) Mexico
b) Panama
c) Cuba
d) Canada

Now normally this would be a fairly hard question for someone who wasn't really up to date on their US geography, and I believe the most common / lazy answer would be Mexico. But I'm taking Geography 321 at SDSU right now so I had the exact location of Detroit in my mental map and realized that it was more to the east... therefore it's over Cuba. Sweet, this question was easy. So I go to turn in the test and I ask my teacher: "Hey dude, what's up with the last question on the test?" and he says "Oh, I told the class the answer in the last class period." (Obv I dont go to every class period because that's -EV) So I'm like "Haha, that's a tricky question, because most people would put Mexico, but I know better, I put Cuba, ship it ez." He starts to give a little chuckle, and I'm like huh? Then he turns to me and says "Look it up when you get to a computer."

So I get back and I look it up:

And now I'm thinking it's an ez ship it. Obv it's Cuba see? But upon looking closer I found the horrible truth...

OMG Where did you come from!?! Such a sick beat. WTF!!!

I run pretty good
   TianYuan, November 25

***Commence brag****

The 7k hands of NL50 was me trying to play like 20 tables, I quickly decided against that :D

The NL100 hands are from 2 sessions of 9 tabling. Running sooooooooo good!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/322472 - Guy stacking off 300bb deep with bottom 2 vs my straight. Ship?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/322665 - EZ GAME SON

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/322668 - Wee

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/322667 - Hmm, had raised his limps a million times and he just kept folding post flop. I think I need to bet a little more on the turn, since I guess I have to shove a blank river if he checks to me..

I dunno, he's veryveryvery passive from what I've seen. I didn't want to get check C/R AI after making a huge turn bet, and I kinda thought he probably had a not so great hand.. Which doesn't make sense with the river shove but I figure if he calls the turn, he shouldn't fold river unless he has like a flushdraw, in which case he's folding regardless.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/322492 - Hm, I actually almost timed out here, but I thought he was in the blind, not UTG limper. AJ, KJ, QJ, TJ etc are much more likely from the BB IMO. Also had no history and IIRC he'd not done much, anyway. Wee, snapcall 2 streets and open shove river.

Ok, now that I hit goldstar I've ordered a Wii (weeee) and it's probably time to stop playing on stars (maaaan I don't want to quit, maybe I should just move to the UK so I dont have to pay taxes ).

If anyone wants Red9s $ and has money on Stars (or InterPoker, dunno if it's possible to do site transfers on InterPoker tho) I'm looking to move about 7k~ (a little less) off rednines. Red9s doesnt technically have inter site transfer either but I think it's possible by contacting their support.

I want to dodge the currency conversion fee that I have to endure due to my Red9s money being in $ and my Neteller account being in euro.

So shoot me a pm or something. If you are an ex-TL.netter I post as FrozenArbiter on there, I dunno if that adds credibility vis a vis money transferring but at least you know I've been around the TL/LP community for a few years

Casino Poker Is Amazingly Easy
   JonnyCosMo, November 22

So I went to Palomar card room last night in San Diego to play some live poker. They got this nice little card room with 6 tables, running mostly No Limit Hold'Em. Their 5/10 game is a $1500 max buyin, so I sit with $1000 at around 10pm. This is what proceeds to happen:

I sit down in the middle of a hand, it was a raised pot... with 6 people seeing the flop. The board comes out 5-5-8, the player in the big blind fires out a pot size bet, the original raiser in the hand insta-snap calls, everyone else folds. Turn comes a 4, the big blind shoves, the original raiser holds his hand over his head and finally is like... "uugghh alright I call." The river is a Q, and the guy in the big blind tables 98o like it was the nuts... The original raiser looks at his hand and is like "It's good" then mucks. The fuck?

Very next hand, a short stack shoves for $120, another semi-short stack re-shoves for $400. Drunk gambling guy at the far end of the table is like "OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE HAND!!!" And calls. Everyone else folds and the drunk gambling guy shows 96s. The flop comes 5-7-8, BAM get the fuck out short stacks! And they say online poker is rigged.

So for the first 30 minutes I just sat and played tight, pretty much folded every single hand until I picked up KTdd on the button. There were two limpers so I raised, and both the limpers called (standard). The flop came Q-5-2 w/ one diamond, and both players checked to me so I decided to use my tight image to my advantage and made a standard c-bet. The first limper called and the other one folded, so at this point I was thinking he had some pair like 33,44,66-88. The turn came the Ad, and the player again checked to me. Since I turned the mega draw and I thought he had a hand I could push off, I decided to fire yet another barrel. The guy quickly (and yes I mean QUICKLY) called. The river came a 2c which totally ruined any chance to triple barrel bluff this moron. He checked and I checked behind and he tables 44. Huh? I felt sick mucking my hand.

Another hour passes by, I'm getting cold decked to the extreme, I pretty much couldn't pick up anything playable. On the other hand, the guy to my right ran like Jamie Gold the entire time I was there. He hit 6 sets when it went to showdown, flopped trips and straights multiple times with absolute shit cards. He was playing every hand so naturally he should be hitting some flops, but it really felt like this guy was hitting every freaking flop. It was pretty gross. So anyways, this guy ends up destroying the only player I thought might have been somewhat good in this hand:

The 'Good' player (I put it in quotes since he seemed like the only player capable of 2nd level thinking, although that really doesn't make you good in poker, it makes you a god in this game) raises UTG to $40, the guy to my right who hadn't folded a hand all night reraises to $600. Earlier in the night, the guy to my right made it some absurd amount like $500, after 4 players limped then he showed 83o. So the 'Good' player tanks forever, and then starts talking to the guy to my right. The guy to my right kept saying "If you call, do you want to check it down? huh? huh?" So finally the 'Good' player was like "Oh, that probably means you have 83o again" and he jams all-in for $4k more. The guy to my right insta Phil Hellmuth style fist pump snap calls and tables AA. The 'Good' Player flips up KK. I feel gross for the good player, flop comes K-Q-T. ZING! SHIP SOME JUSTICE ONE TIME!?! Turn 3. HOLD!?! River J... Doh! It was a pretty gross moment... but atleast the 'Good' player left.

3 hours into my session I was stuck almost $1k, had won a total of 3 pots the entire night, and I was bored out of my mind. I was trying my best to stay emotionally in control, but all these retarded plays paying off around me was driving me crazy. Finally I played my first big pot of the night when I was dealt AQs. This somewhat loose / aggro idiot raises in the CO so I reraise on the button, he calls. Flop comes A-9-9, he leads for 1/2 pot, so I flat call. Turn comes a 7 and he leads for 3/4 pot, so I tank for a little bit (not nearly half as long as some of these idiots were tanking for) and then called. River was a 9. He jams... I lol at myself, and realize I might be victim of the zeebo therom here, but whatever this guy was stupid so I called...

He shows KQo and is like "Good hand". "Thanks" I said. I'm back to even in one pot. LOL! I played for 4.5 hours total and ended stuck $50 which is like breaking even. I was pretty happy with my emotional control through out the session, as there were multiple times I could have just lost it and tilted myself broke but I didn't.

Cliffnotes:
1. Live poker is a joke.
2. People who play in casinos are totally retarded, and totally degen.
3. Being cold decked while playing live is similar to sitting in a warm bath tub with your wrists cut.

Recognizing some heroes
   Daut, November 20

I'd like to recognize some heroes today who have accomplished some great things of late.

Blair, known as blur5f6 online just destroyed FTOPS event #1 for over 145k. I didnt know he was deep that night but luckily the FTP server crashed and they had to come back the next day and finish the tournament so I could watch him end lives the next night. here's a recent picture of blair with his tin foil grill:

It's a good thing for live tourney players that randal flowers is only 19 cause he has been owning live tourneys this year. He chopped the turning stone 5k event in august for 105k and he just got 2nd in the canterbury main event up in minnesooooooooota. I always thought that famous bunny was the Canterbury bunny but really it was the cadbury bunny. Oh well i dont really care its close enough so i made randal into a bunny anyway:

Adam "Roothlus" Levy has recently joined the Daut mig naz team of all stars and wasted no time making a WPT final table at niagara, which was probably the toughest FT in the history of the WPT with actionjeff, scott clements, jon little, barry greenstein and redsoxsox. Rooth is known for (up until recently) having a special ed avatar on stars and advocating personal hygiene to success in poker. gooooo roothlus

And finally, last but not least, mr michael "martine23" martin. Mike just got 2nd in the 5k euro amsterdam classic main event. He chopped the event for 450k euros which is a maaaaaaaassive score. Here's a picture of him before the final table looking unkempt:

After he knocks noah "exclusive" boeken out of the event ,he asks him for some fashion advice

Also, it appears that mike is a little smokey jr. Check out the resemblance between mike and this old picture of smokey i have:

Wondering where all the luck went tonight?
   TianYuan, November 18

.. Right here:

I'm not sure I missed a single draw, total luckbox. Like, COMPLETE luckbox.

And... etc There were a few hands where I raised like suited connectors/connectors and flopped trips like hand after hand, and of course everytime I was over-tripped I boated the river - ez game.

So in case any NL100 regs on stars are wondering where the hell all their luck went, you can rest easy - it all went to me!

Weird I run looser on stars NL100 than I do at Prima NL200.. Maybe because everybody raises you on there and everyone just calls calls calls on stars

Pretty close to goldstar again on stars, so I can finally use my 40k fpps for something, most likely a Wii =]

And I REALLY love stars software, I wish I could keep playing on here but it just doesn't make sense if I ever plan on paying taxes (which I kinda want to do once I start earning real amounts of money, so I prefer playing on a EU site) =[

Hand that I'm not sure about from the 1/2 session:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/317582
The guy was 30/16/1.5~ and I'd been at the table for about 2 orbits (I'd played 2 hands, rest krablar). I had seen him raise UTG, check call a K75 flop vs UTG+1, check a K (or 7 turn) and bet out on a 7 river (or a King river, I forgot the order), losing to QQ.

I think he bluffs turn A LOT, just from instinct, but this is like a really bad card for him to do it on isn't it? Probably wouldn't be horrible to just check/fold turn. I dunno.

God I suck
   TianYuan, November 12

Why am I so fucking awful at headsup
First HU attempt ended down 900 at .5/1 (2k hands)
Second ended down.. I dunno, I guess 1.1k (400 .5/1, 700 from some guy I just played at 1/2 since I saw him drop 15 buyins to someone I know.. of course, I'm too fucking horrible to win vs him since I'm either a weaktight retard or a retarded callingstation paying off obvious better hands). Total hands like 6.5k or so this time.

I mean fuck, it's not even about the money, I have enough of a roll for it to not REALLY hurt (I dunno how much I have exactly right now, but if I had to guess I'd say between 8.5k and 9k, although I'm gonna have to cashout about 1.5k that's still a fine roll for 1/2), it's just embarassing I guess.

The problem with this session was that I sat down expecting him to be some kind of magical ATM - I mean, I had just obsed him donate 15 buyins (yes, 15 buyins) by doing things like snapcalling shoves with 3rd pair. I don't think I took a single note or paid any attention to how he was playing until like 10-15 minutes in, I was just not at all in the right state of mind to play and was stupid for doing so.

Of course that was because he was on extreme insane tilt vs him, but not vs me. And by the time I understood that I was already stuck a buyin and I'm much too stubborn to quit when down._.

EDIT: Does anyone know if I can move all my 1/2 handhistories to a new database? I have so many .5/1 ones in my current prima one that it's pretty slow so I want to split them up since I only need the 1/2 ones anyway.
