August by Bejamin1, August 31

Well August turned out to be alright. I managed to adjust my 25PLO FR style quite quickly to a 50PLO 6-max style. Started my first 50PLO shot at 1050 and just never looked back. Here is the graph for the month. Made a few adjustments/didn't play well right at the start and lost focus at times but overall a very strong start to 50PLO. I'm running at a stable 8pt/bb over about 25k 50PLO hands and will be moving up to 100PLO soon. I think overall that around 12-15pt/bb is probably managable at this stake if you play perfectly but its hard to stay focused all the time so I make a lot of micro-spews here and there. Anyways here is the graph for the month. Oh and I finally achieved Platinum Star again! Only 44k away from Supernova which I will for sure be tracking down before years end.

August by Artanis[Xp], August 31

Despite running bad in tourneys today and not cashing in any, I managed to win 6bi on the side in cashgames, so I'm still up.

I'm finishing August $1 below my alltime high. I've doubled my BR this month, most importantly: Mostly in cashgames, which I'm very happy about. I feel I've made great progress, and hope to rape NL200 next month once I get a BR of 10k. I'm currently at 7.8k though, so, to you NL100 FR regs at stars; I'm here to stay for a bit longer.

To all those that had a rough August; better luck in September. To the rest, may your luck continue in September!

August 10nl by d.Apollo, August 31

Yoyoyoyoyoyyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo.

Sup?

My last blog was extremely lol. Since then I have picked up poker again after meeting/talking/playing with ToTMidiaN at wcguk08, (few weeks back). I had $50 on UB and after watching him play again, it inspired me to takes things little more serious and actually think/pick up poker. Since that weekend, I played about 5days on UB, didn't do anything impress on UB because it was full of shortstacks and I just simply didn't like the software...

Then ToTMidan came to stay at mine for a week and half way through the week I installed pokerstars! With $44 remaining on my account, ToTMidian stacked a guy twice in headsup which put me at $70. From here, I played 10nl, 6max, 6tables.

12days later..... I am here summarizing my 12days on stars, my August.

Started really well, with huge upswings then went on a huge 20bi downswing, mixed with badbeats, running horrible and tilt. I then gathered my head talked to midian on msn and rebuilt to where I was before my downswimg!!

Anyway enough talk crap, boring sometimes.. I am looking for 25nl very soon after my 2weeks of poker.. quite good but then again, check my hand count

Thanks to Kwark and Midian for discussions on msn and in RLRLRLRLRL about poker related STUF. Cu around, might blog again soon.

WATCH MYSPACE LOL

Enough with the whining by Kilay, August 31

Ok, so to start off, lately I've been running quite bad and whining here about... Random 2-outers and shit like that... And I decided, it's DONE with my own bitching. Last night after my bad run continued I thought it was time to set myself some clear (and hopefully, realisable) goals to work to untill the start of 2009. So officialy I want to complete these goals before 1 January 2009.

Now these are three different goals and not all are poker related. Here they come and I think it'd be nice to get some feedback on my pokergoal on particular. I am still posting all three since they can relate to my goal on poker.

1) I want to complete my first year of college (business economics) this year. Fairly standard but still I want to complete this crucial first year nontheless. Btw, it's not like I am doing it over or whatever, just in care you are wondering, this is my first year but I want to complete it immediately. This is my educational goal.

2) Technically this can't be completed before 1 January 2009, nontheless, I am posting it. I am competing it in a walking event in Holland called the ''Nijmeegse vier-daagse'' (translated: The 4 days of Nijmegen). It's a walking event which means that in 4 consecutive days, I am going to walk 40 km (or 29 miles) which means that I will walk 160 km in 4 days. This obviously means training for it so that's why I posted it, I started training today, nothing too heavy but still started nontheless. This is my health goal. I am by no means very unhealthy and overweight or whatever but since 2-3 years now I stopped competing in any sports and I want to stay in good shape. Now I absolutely hate gyms, not sure why, probably because of the ''look at me being buffed'' people in there so I decided this is a nice way to get back into better shape. I will also be trying to get sponsors and walking for some charity organisation which will probably involve animal rights.

3) This is my poker goal. I want to be an established 100NL regular and be working on taking shots on 200NL before the end of the year. I am currently playing 25NL after my first failed 50NL shot. Now I think this is definitly achievable and please do correct me if I am wrong. Now my biggest problem is in my own eyes, not my skill, but the volume of hands I put in. I don't have enough backbone and when I don't run good on the day and lose 2 or 3 at most, big pots in my session I quit and am done for the day often not feeling like playing anymore and sometimes also questioning my own abilities to beat the limit. Now I actually do think I should be able to beat it if I wouldn't be such a wuss on bad days and quit because it cripples the volume of hands that I put in. I certainly have an above average IQ, did several professional IQ tests for school purposes and I've always been good at maths and psychics and logical thnking and therefor I believe I should be fairly good at poker as well. I know it's very standard variance that should occur daily (winning/losing 2-3 buy-ins) but still I don't grind through it when it goes bad.

I want to accomplish this poker goal by setting myself two sub-goals:

3.a) I want to attain a minimal winrate of 8 bb/100 (so 4 ptbb/100) on both 25NL and 50NL before moving up. This winrate should be over a reasonable sample size, I am not talking 100,000 hands but something like 20,000-30,000 hands or whatever at least.

3.b) I demand myself to put in 5,000 hands at least every week of the year until 1 January 2009. I always 4-table so that comes around something like 15 hours of poker every week. I made this estimate by making myself play at least 3 hours a day during weekdays so if I need to skip a day or maybe two because of college reasons or whatever I can make those up during the weekends. Now I counted the weeks and I believe that this would mean I'd put in 90,000 hands before the end of the year.

There you have it, those are my goals to achieve before the end of this year. Please leave comments on any of my goals if you want to and I'd especially like comments on my poker goal. Please let me know if I set the bar for myself either too high or too low.

Anyways, tomorrow is my first school day after a good 2.5 month summerbreak so it will be a bit like rehab lol. Overall I had a reasonable summerbreak pokerwise and also funwise. I made my summer pokergoal achieving at least a 1k roll but still I am dissappointed by myself since along the way I felt like I could do way more than just that.

GL to every on the tables and in school for whoever else needs to start again tomorrow or somewhere this week and do hit my up if you got any comments or whatever on this pot.

Later, Kilay

I R NITBOT by whamm!, August 31

well i promised to be a 200nl reg by end of august, didnt happen. made some money though this month and im not cashing out till probably november. giving me enough room to play 100bis at 200nl by then. im just gonna go 100bi rule with this nitbotting bizniz, and sometimes just 8 to 6 table too. my goal is to be sick rolled for nitbotting 200nl by december, and well on my way to 400nl next year. clearing my 2k milestone at the start of september is awesome for me, gives me a solid boost at the start of the month, ive been hit and running 200nl every now and then, but it seems i cant play scared money like that(66bi LOL), im the type of player who really needs to be overrolled coz i need a constant cashflow IRL. gtg and thx thx everyone.

for those who havent checked this video out, its paul potts from simon cowells talent show in teh UK. ul feel good after watching it

Might not see me again by SKoT, August 31

Couple of things.

1st, poker is pretty much dead to me. I went on a crazy downswing and a little of bad play after a big cashout to pay for living, etc and it really crippled my bankroll and thus my spirit. I have a 3 digit account now and it really sucks, not sure if I'm even going to try to grind it back up.

2nd, school is going to be crazy this semester. Im living with 7 other guys in basically the most perfect party house ever. We had 2 kegs last night, it was nutso. Im also taking 18 credits so I got a pretty full course load. Good stuff

3rd, Army ROTC. I enrolled and am basically fully intending on contracting(signing 8 years of my life to the govt). It is really cool and will give me a chance to a) serve my country b) get school and living paid for c) learn some self discipline and get a crazy good resume because I'll graduate here as a 2nd lieutenant(which also makes pretty good money for a fresh grad and 1st LT is alot better which ill get in a few years after graduating).

Oh and the PT(physical training) is at 530 every morning haha, which kinda sucks but gets my ass into bed early and up early after about 5 years of going to bed past midnight every night. It's not too hard though, I'm in better shape than most of the 3rd and 4th year guys because I was at the gym every day all summer. Anywho,

so thats it. Ill probably just end up cashing out my roll and seeing if anyone will stake me if/when I decide I want to revisit degeneracy. I've made quite a bit of money from poker and it paid for my living for almost a full year so I cant really complain I guess.

Good luck boys

August update by northsails, August 31

Hi, guys
August has been another month with mediocre results for me. I came back from my holiday on 10th and obv started swinging like crazy from the beginning of my play. I didn't put alot of hands before the last week, and i was losing for the month before the last 5 days so i am not satisfied alot. Anyways now i am rolled for 200 nl and could start takin shots next month, i talked with a good coach and i am pretty happy about it so after my exam on 9th of september i will be grindin alot trying to imrpove my game and going up in the limits. I hope i can fix my leaks soon enough and stop tilting like some complete retard giving money away left and right.

So here is the graph for the month:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/924d87e52f9101e27eb7cbd5d501db4e.jpg

Another 900$ in rakeback and -100$ in PLO.

Hope you all had a great summer, cheers and gl.

August by Babs, August 31

Very happy after I didn't play the first week because I was somewhat disillusioned with poker. I bought a 4k bonus to force myself to play, it turned out to be a good decision even though I ran sick bad towards the end.

august blog post -_-!! by lachlan, August 31

everyone has bad months... im gonna be honest, i got pretty badly pwned in august, it consisted of winning money at 1/2:

edit: i am actually satisfied with my month and how it turned out, just had a long period where my winnings were cut to pieces which is kinda annoying oh well

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/1ce0d1584f4d959c30900ca07d92bf73.png

and donating it to the kind gentlemen at 2/4:

1/2 + 2/4 = my month

bar graph of the month:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/52ce9a5bee86b5411f19864fc5f075cb.png

heres my stats

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/a77b648ceecb33d803fe11d0df31fdf0.png

i think it might have something to do with those stats... i go from 17/15 to 13/11, i might have to look into that

anyway my current plan is to play 2/4 again, and i'm going to be fearless this time... if you fail try try and try again. and hopefully ill prevail this time! :D

Hi NL25, I'm back by lazymej, August 31

And you tried to get rid of me bad when I came back, but I stuck around and made you bend over.

So anyways I had an NL25 marathon today.. Played most of the day. First few hours was absolutely and positively gay. I was running so bad. Oversets, FH into quads, sets getting sucked out by straight draws, the whole 9 yards. But I still hung in there and eventually started to win. Few more suckouts and bad beats so it hurt my final net profit - which could have been over $200 - ship it!!! So I touched over $200 profit in a day - a first for me. It's quite cool because I've pretty much doubled my roll in about 3 days. Not bad.

Day stats:

Day graph (notice how gay it is in beginning and the spikes after due to bad beats/suckouts. oh well, it happens :D ):
