Why do I always sabotage myself?by Night2o1, September 28
It seems like I always sabotage myself. In poker, I look at what I'm doing and know I am making a huge error. I go ahead and do it against my judgement. I usually lose in this situation.
I do the same thing in real life pretty frequently as well.
I don't know what this comes from? Low self-confidence? Too easy to tilt? Dunno.
Just felt like posting that after I literally busted MYSELF out of a tournament I was very deep in.
September Sucked. I managed to have a win for $11k and a 4th place in 100r for $16k this month...and i still lost money. It was just a very disgusting WCOOP, and other tournaments mixed in. I want to throw up for the amount of times that I spewed chips on final table bubbles (i think i FT bubbled 4 tourneys, one of which i was chipleader on the bubble) and for the times i spewed in wcoop events. It was never anything huge, but little things that added up. Very frustrating.
Ive been looking over my game and I don't see any big mistakes, just little things that add a lot of variance that I need to work on.
Anyways, to sum up:
-$600 after being up almost 20k at one point. ugh, just a very swingy month. Here's looking forward to a better october and rest of the year!
ever since i got over pokemon trading cards back in elementary school, i thought i was through with being pointlessly attracted to material things. but i gotta say, all that changed when i saw this car. i have never been so materially and vainly attached to something. i feel like a third-grader obsessing over japanese action figures all over again...
it's coming out in spring 2009, right on schedule with my graduation
"The Genesis Coupe will have two available engines. The base engine will be a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 223 hp (166 kW) and 217 ft·lbf (294 N·m) torque, with an optional 3.8L Lambda engine producing 312 hp (233 kW) and 266 ft·lbf (361 N·m) torque on premium gas. On regular grade fuel the power outputs will be reduced to 212 hp (158 kW) and 306 hp (228 kW), respectively."
"Few specific details on pricing have been revealed by Hyundai, although rumors suggest the base model turbo-I4 will be released at $19,900 and the V6 model at $25,900."
i love everything about it. the design, the power, and above-all, the bang-for-buck factor, since it will be the cheapest +300 hp rwd coupe available. I gotta say, the tiburon was an epic fail compared to what hyundai has achieved with this new model.
I bet some people were surprised to see that I didn't make any posts during the debate. I'm surprised too. But I had a good reason - I was out of town camping with my special lady, celebrating our 2 year anniversary.
We live in Colorado so we packed up our car with camping gear and went on a mountain tour. It was the best road trip I've ever done. We saw a whole lot in 3 days and had an amazing time. We shoulda taken more pictures, but there are still quite a few good ones that I'll share with ya'll:
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m1.JPG Ahhh, the Rocky Mountains. Click the spoiler for the rest of the pics
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m2.JPG We start on our journey; first stop is Estes Park
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m3.JPG We arrive in Estes
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m4.JPG And we're immediately greeted by the elk!

http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m7.JPG Our campfire from the distance. We got a camp spot in Rocky Mountain National Park right by where the Elk were doing their thing. There's some sorta big elk migration this time of year, seemed like a mating meeting. At least it sounded like that all night long - get a room right?
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m8.JPG Up close pic of our first night's dinner. Had some leftovers from lunch mixed in with hot dogs, heh.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m9.JPG View from our campsite in the morning.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m10.JPG We head out to the Stanley Hotel - this hotel was Steven King's inspiration for the shinning and this is where he wrote the book. They didn't film the movie here, but it is where they filmed the TV miniseries.

http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m14.JPG We get to the top of a big ass mountain and it's a sweet view

http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m18.JPG We find a find a pear in our mixed dried fruit bag that looks like something else completely. haha
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m19.JPG On the way to Steamboat we start seeing some gorgeous trees. Check out the video's below for better footage.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m22.JPG As we get closer to our second campsite (which will be at strawberry hot springs) it just keeps getting prettier.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m21.JPG We arrive at our 2nd campsite and have lunch.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m23.JPG A view of the hot springs. We spent a bunch of time in here. It was especially awesome at night cause the stars were amazing and it felt like something out of a movie.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m24.JPG The next day we head out to Aspen and say goodbye to the gorgeous Steamboat hillsides.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//m25.JPG We drive through Aspen thinking "this can't be Aspen" cause it's not very pretty... and we end up doing independence pass. This is a view looking back at the pass from the bottom.

I'm also working on another political post which I'll throw out once this one works its way through the front page. Still got a lot of catching up to do from the days I was outta town!
And also planning to get serious on poker. I got lucky and SakiSaki took me on as a full time student. I am gonna blog about my progress under his master tutelage as well as the political stuff =) Though, till the election is over there will probably be more politics than anything else.
i am doing 4-6 page paper on "The Cardsharps" by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. If anyone knows anything about this, it would be awesome for like a paragraph or some info to help me w/ my paper. I'm not playing poker or CoD4 until this paper is done and i want it to be done tonight....
anyway, help is appreciated.
Also i had a good session yesterday where i played 317 hands and won 2 bi's...pretty salty. Then i had to do chores =(
no where near as many hands as i am used to now that i live on my own and have responsibilities.
hi, i was wondering if anyone would help me transfer some money. I can give you $3.8 in pokerstars and in return you give me $3.8 in full tilt poker. I need this because the minimum withdrawal in FTP is 50$ and im 3.8$ short and i dont want to play anymore there.
So my new solution is to just do freeroll and misc. tournaments until I'm 18, since I think it is pretty sweet practice, or a lot better than play money, and I have the possibility of winning some cash.
Earlier this morning I did that Mans Million Dollar Qualifier on Pokerstars and finished like 7,000 out of 15,000 or something. That kind of bit.
But I just finished doing Fulltiltpoker with an entrance of 1,800 and I placed around 140th. It was only for like massive play chips but it was basically played the same as Pokerstars' money qualifier. I saved some hands just so people could analyze them.
My hand I lost on though was I tried bluffing a flush and it turned out the guy had a flush Ace high which kind of sucked really bad.
Got to see the sun rise today, and not because I woke up early
So its 10am, I haven't slept yet because I played about 10k hands through the night and the sickest part of it is that it has become way too much of a normal occurrence.
Played about 25-30k hands in the past 3 days, and probably going to do another 10k hands later 'today' when I wake up.
I realise I haven't made a blog post in a fairly long time, months in fact... is it just me or does it feel like LP has really declined in quality over the past few months even the year or so?
Don't get me wrong, I visit this site more frequently than any other and I still go through all the threads and even reply if I feel my advice might be right.
But it just seems that the threads no longer have the same attraction as they used to and I think it was SakiSaki who said something along the lines of 'reading the threads give me a headache'...
However, all that said I have to say I probably sound like a hypocrite since I don't really contribute to furthering the material on this site either but I guess that's something I can put on my growing list of things to procrastinate and never actually do...
Anyway off to sleep, no idea why i decided to type all of the above except that I'm procrastinating the act of even going to bed and sleeping...
This week they spoofed the Katie Couric Interview. If you haven't seen it yet, here's a short clip of the must see part (helps you get the jokes in the SNL skit):
Strawberry Fields Foreverby CrownRoyal, September 28
K so my new job is pretty awesome and i make a decent deal of cash.
I wanna go on a vacation to the PCA from jan 5-10 with money I have saved up by then, for people who have went how much did you bring and what type of cash games run? How much money would I need to fully enjoy the experience as ballerly as possible?
I also will prob drop 1-2k in sattelites to try to play in the main event but even if that fails I still wanna come.
Yesterday I I had my biggest downswing in my life in $(-4K) and bi(-10). After reviewing my hands I can say that I underestimated variance. Im not gonna complain about the bad beats, only make some cold decisions (you cant mix you emotions with poker): I quit to try to be a professional poker player. That is Im gonna be playing a lot less and put poker in the bottom of my priorities (I noticed I was missing some events becouse I was playing poker)
I see in front of my eyes a lot of oportunities and things with less variance. What's the point of continuing playing a game where I see a dark path, where I dont learn anything new, I dont make interesting friends, I have no curriculum.
The most gorgeous and the fastest race track ever. Cars were flying. Quiet literally.
Well, trust me, they were. Unfortunately i cant find images of that. So youll have to take my word for it!
I started playing poker again, although very little, but lately I have been playing a bit longer. This is spread over August and September lol. I need like 250 more FPP to clear a $240 bonus, so with that added to my BR I am going to start playing NL100.
korean traffic police dancing to one of their songs.. LOOOL at the guy on the right at 0:53 :D
freakin aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I want to go to korea so badly now
Anyways I was away from home visiting friends for 3 weeks or so and I've been back home about for about week now. It's so hard to stay at home after getting used to being out every night -_-; I'm ready to settle down again and grind out hands again though, and my motivation is back after reading the high stakes thread on 2+2... some fuckin craaaaaazy pots on railheaven :D
i had what i believe is my winningest day ever today without really noticing it.. i paid a lot of attention to that darned monthly 100k.. i ended up finishing 153rd for a $100 bonus which was nice since thats still 2 buyins at my level.
i really didnt play a lot in september; i got quite depressed after returning to my 3rd stab at finishing my degree (i have only 3x 4month courses remaining..) which i am still in doubts about
im kind of also in doubt about my academic future.. i was going to apply to teachers college but i dont really think im ready to commit to even going to the schooling for that let alone a very grueling 9-5 type job.
so im going to drop one of my courses and take school a bit easier so i can not stress myself to death; i was really crippled and unable to do school or poker or have fun or anything. which is sucky.
current idea is to just stay in nl50 fr until i hit 5k bankroll and then start considering shots at nl100. im just shy of 3k now but i went through some tough times pokerwise in august so i want to be sure i am confident in my abilities and not on a super hot streak when i move up.
Well I haven't played a PLO tourney in a long time - about 2 months - so I decided what the heck and loaded into a $55 freeze-out. I have been playing really poorly on cash games for the month just straight up not playing my A-game. Running terrible as all hell as well but when playing properly I avoid the high-variance spots I've been losing in. Either way nice score tonight. We made a deal at the final two with me getting 150 and him getting 215 so I got 900 and he got the rest. I had 86k chips and he had 166k so I felt it was the right thing to do. Picture below.
on august 13th, my br was 200$ and i owed 1.4k (to my bffs thundza and [vital]myth
yesterday my br was at 4.3k and i only owe [vital]myth 400!!!
last night i spewed a bunch (purely through my own bad play i feel) and am dropping back to .5/1 for discipline purposes, but all in all i'm very very satisfied with my play. with school in high gear, i'm doubly happy that i haven't played nearly as much as i could have and still had pleasing results.
down $2k today, down $800 yesterday, down $6k overall....can't win a single hand, every good hand gets crushed by some shit, etc. etc. etc. I fuckin hate poker at the moment -_- I'm full of rage and helplessness but at least I don't get crazy and smash everything around.
Gonna start a blog just for myself to keep track of how I'm doing.
I started playing in August I think, throwing $100 into Doyle's Room, $150 into FTP, and $350 into Stars.
I went bust on Doyle's and my FTP is at around $50, and I just cashed out at Stars for $700. I don't like Doyle's nor FTP very much, but I decided to cash out all my Stars money to transfer it to Cake Poker because of their amazing bonuses.
I haven't got my check from Stars yet but I've already made a $500 into Cake and I'm just trying to grind out my bonus before it expires. I also got a 33% rakeback bonus that I'm very much looking forward to.
I believe I started Cake Sept. 19, 2008. I've played 4772 hands up to this point, and my balance is at $737, with $30 of it from my deposit bonus. I've come up with 626.50 FPP so far, and if my calculations were right, I need 8333.33 FPP to clear my $500 deposit bonus. I'm receiving about .17 FPP per hand so far at NL20, so if my calculation is right... I will need about 63k hands worth of NL20 to get the bonus, but once my Stars check comes in, I'm throwing in $500 from it to Cake and taking a shot at NL50.
No program I know of will track Cake HH so I can't see fancy graphs and what not. If anyone knows of anything that will work, let me know.
