I didn't ran and didn't play to well in november. I only played nl50 when I needed the money. Cashed some bonus and made just a few bucks in nl50. Pretty fucked up huh. However! Things changed in the end of the month, I entered a 8.80 rebuy tournament and did pretty well. Ended up 7th for 1.2k which was a great boost for my br. Entered another rebuy 10+1 and ended 18th or so for $150. After the the 8.80 rebuy 7th place I was able to play nl100 again. Ran very well for 3 days and made 15bi's on nl100. Overal I made 7.7k in poker since august without rakeback. Now my br is 4k and if I continue to run/play like this for a few more days im rolled for nl200 lol. Pretty weird how you can struggle for 2 months and then suddenly make up for it in a few days. I must say my play improved some as well after watching a few cardrunners vids. Atm I play around 22/21/4 6 tabling nl100, also I started to 3 bet even more and counter 3bets by 4betbluffing, even tho I find 4betbluffing still a bit risky I do it now and then.
I stopped playing poker in August. I had to cash out a lot, due to living expences and some health problems /i'm fine now, thx/, and because my health problems, i've had no intentions to start playing poker again. I left 300 bucks on my account in PS, saying "well maybe one time.."
I recovered fully, went back to the university, i am taking classes, i have a beautiful girlfriend, who i love the most in this world, everything is fine! Well, almost perfect: the exams are coming, to be honest i don't have time to take a shit sometimes... :S Fuck this, back to poker:
3 days ago i realized, my brain is full, i can't learn any more that day. Usually i watch some series at times like that /BSG, SG, West Wing and Last Vegas forever! /, but my eye stuck on the PokerStars icon. AND i double clicked on it...
Obv i'm playing again, with motivation, but i can't play much, exams are coming... I restarted NL10, went back to 400$, and toke a shot @NL25. Graph time:
Well i'm back! Poker is going great, and because i love this game, and this site, i decided i'll get involved in this community. Posting threads, answering, etc...
So after the 2bi bust out from NL10 I went back to NL5 as planned until I reached the set bi for NL10 again. It came with great ease, as NL5 felt incredibly soft.
While I understand that it could very well be just a heater, or just ran good etc. However the undeniable part is the level of confidence I felt playing these tables and feeling in total control.
Unexpectedly I got to the bi mark I set for myself within 500 hands, and after a break off I went.
To Hell.
I'm not sure how to describe it, but the easiest way to say it is: I am a mess at NL10. The waves of playing alright and playing like dogshit is indescribable. I seem to be overly anxious. I seem bewildered by the difference in general style. And above all, I am 10x worse at laying down a hand I'm 90% sure I'm beat in. I'm not aggressive, I'm not assertive. Any danger card and I have my tail between my legs and whimper away. As said in the title, it is just a pathetic display of confidence in my own abilities.
It's not just the results that have me fuming. It's the fact that I can tell that while my brain is trying to play the same way I do in NL5, another part of it is shaken by the way people respond or don't respond differently here. I can tell I'm affected, and I know that my play is affected as well. As I said: pathetic.
I must say the bottom line is this: Unless I learn to get rid of my attachment to marginal hands, there is no chance in hell I am going to make a breakthrough here.
Apologies for the rant, but I believe a vent of any form should help regardless. I don't need sympathy, I don't want empathy. What I do need is going to come from within myself and only myself, and it's up to me to find what I need to change and make that commitment.
edit: I am still also far too aggressive in marginally better than marginal spots.
edit2: I think some introspection is in order for tomorrow.
I've been logging ~6 hours a day playing live 1/2 since friday.
stnd live rants, someone called me a nit i think actually for the first time in my life (being serious you'll know if you've ever played with me) so i made sure for an hour or so any time he limped i raised, any time he raised i re-raised or any time he did anything i fucked with him until he started talking shit and i found out from him and his buddies that AK is, in fact, not third nuts. That I raise too much and I'm stupid to mess with someone of his caliber who has played so many hands and that there is no way I've played over 1million hands in my life and ugh i could go on but really i'm too busy counting his money.
I chopped an omaha tournament tonight too, ez life.
overall i'm up something like 1k and i didn't actually get to play saturday so four nights of grinding or something.
btw im pretty convinced that i can sustain a 30ptbb+ winrate live, i dunno what's really practical but i really doubt that anyone can play a looser more aggressive style than I am and make it profitable + i think i'm perfect and i haven't honestly misplayed a hand yet because it's so ez to not fuck up when you're playing one table and can feel the atmosphere.
anyways, can't wait til i'm 21 to move to vegas just to try out the lifestyle for a while or something. It's too bad I fail so bad @ online grinding, i win @ it but end up losing anyway cause i'm too degen or something... I need a personal secretary to keep me from being a fucking retard or something. Maybe I'll grow up some day but until then all of the ways I lose @ online are impossible outcomes live.
ahhhhhh one more thing, i found out that a 5/10 game runs every tuesday but im def not rolled for that and I think I'm leaving out for work sometime in the next week anyway but if I end up getting time off until after new years and I have to keep grinding to live i'm pretty stoked to go destroy some fags at 5/10.
so i learned all about br management today. in a few quick hands (with a starting br of around 325) i played out of my limit. very quickly i played well and got beat w/ set over set, and twice people leading OOP with flush draws and hitting.
d4 session 4, 4 weeks poker experience
br = 222.55
moving down to 20nl.
This coupled with losing 13k on Friday makes me wanna fucking murder something. Can't win with a dominating hand allin pre, can't win a flip allin pre, can't win with a dominated hand allin pre. Can't fucking win a thing.
Still looking for that houseby EXCELED, December 02
Today I went down to London to look for a place to live at while Im going to school. I looked at 4 places and none of them were really that great... not anything I could picutre myself living in. Its harder now too because Im going to be living with people I have never met so I want them to be legit.
The first place I looked at was straight up in the hood. One of those little villages if you know what Im saying. Great way to start my day though lol. The Land lord thought no one was going to be home so we go in and all I can hear is the sounds of some girl getting drilled. Turns out one of the guys who lived in the place was still home and was poachin his bitch upstairs haha. You should have seen all there faces. Fucking hilarious. The house was shitty so I didnt stay long.
The next place I checked out had 2 apartments in it. One upstairs and one downstairs. The Land lord showed me the bottom apartment. It had 3 beedrooms and one wasnt occupied. The first thing I notice is a HUGE television with a computer hooked up to it. The one dude was playing WOW on it and was about 270lbs and smelt like my ass. The other roomate was in his room and he had his computer hooked up to a huge television too. Guess what he was playing? WOW. The house looked like it hadnt been cleaned for months and these two were definitly anti-social and I was not feelin that place at all. So we went upstairs to the other apartment. This one had 3 bedrooms in it as well. As soon as we walk in theres this sexy bitch sitting working on some school work. She introduced herself only to tell me that she is the one moving out and I would be taking her room. Shitty deal. The one girl who lived in there just seemed like she had sand stuck in her vagina or something. As soon as we start talking outside her room all we hear is "Shut the fuc up Im trying to Study." Land lord pokes in and shes says "seriously Im trying to study keep it down!" I said hello and she said nothing... bitch. So that house for sure would not wor out for me because 1. I dont play WOW and 2. I like to party some nights and all I can see is that girl having a shit fit on me everytime I do.
The third place I looked at wasnt bad at all. The guys werent expecting the Land lord to pop by so the place was kinda messy. First thing I notice in this house is the collection of 26ers and 40ozs they have above the fireplace. Looks like they party. Nice. Then I notice theres this clock that has weed leaves as the hands. They like to blaze? Me too. The one of the chicks walks downstairs who lived there. Shes hot. NICE! All the people who lived in there were my age or a year younger. Bonus. It was all looking pretty damn good until she showed me the room available. It was pretty tiny man and I was kinda disapointed. My queen size bed would take up atleast 3/4 of the room and I wouldnt be able to fit my desk in there. Even with a double in there it still would be pushin it to get a desk and a dresser in there but I could probably make it happen. If the room was a bit bigger I would have signed the papers right there.
I was sitting in Timmies having a coffee and I was just about to go home until I looked accross the street and there was a house for rent. I called the place and they said I could see it right away. I went over and there was only one dude living there who was 2 years older then me and he seemed like a legit dude.. The house was really nice, rooms were great sized BUT it was quite a bit over my budget which sucked cock.
It wasnt a very big success today. I mean there wasnt really one house that I was super happy about finding so Im going to keep looking. Im going down tomorrow to check out 3 more places and If I dont find anything Im probably going to move into the 3rd house I checked out today. Wish me luck lol.
I had a shitty session in poker and booked my biggest loss in 2 months. I grinded a bit today and made just over a 1/4 of my loss back. I found out the swing I had was a pretty standard one so that made me a little less pissed about that session but it still sucked because I hadnt lost that much in so long... it was just weird hearing people tell me how standard this was going to be so I better get used to it lol. Other then that things are going good and hopefully I can make back the rest of my loss by Thursday or Friday. I made a prop bet with my buddy a month ago to see who could get to 1k first. He just got pokertracker the other day and I set it up for him and uploaded his hands and shit. Turns out he is a HUGE fish lol! His stats are so juicy lol. I would love to have him in my games. I tried telling him his stats said he was a huge fish but he didnt believe me so I showed him a thread on 2+2 and he didnt know what to say. Then today he had this convo lol

All in all I think it was worth it, in the sense that it affirmed the holes I need to work on. Same ol' thing tbh: postflop spew.

Today i was sitting opposite some girl within a university course.
Damn shes beautiful.
I couldnt stop thinking about banging here in all kind of ways for the whole 90 minutes of the course.
Well women can look beautiful in different ways imo
1.) Hooooot biatch -> like most of the famous pronstars ^^
2.) special in a way that attracts u -> Like by objetive messuares she is only okayish above average but has teh very special something that makes her so beautiful to u
3.) Clean pure beauty. No biatch look , no special something -> just when u look at her and think : WOW this is clean pure beauty
dont know if u understand what i mean
However i dont think i will have much of a chance to get in a relationship with her ^^ ( Nor do i think that would work well at all)
I think the way i live and what i like is just too crazy ( not grown up enough) for such a person.
Not that she is boring
She is in fact a very active person being a hughe volleyball fan.
Doing lots of other sports( surfing ,skiing, rock climbing + making party and stuff)
But well shes 24 and her last Boyfriend was 30year old semi proffesional Athlet ( I know this guy and he is very friendly down to earth guy) who allready had a child at that time.
Well and i am basically living da sick life
ALl i do is MMA + Poker + sports + partying
-> this 4 things = all day ,all month ,all years.
I just try to have fun and i dont care about most things that are important to others.
i am a bit liek this
( video baal posted in rofl trhead)
If we were together basically i guess like after 14 days she would be like : " Grow up allready motherfucker ! i ll leave u ^^)
but who knows
maybe i ll get a lucky day and at least have some sex with her
[ ] i also like checkboxes
[ ] i post on 2+2
[x] i finally got pt3
[x] OP is a flaming homo
[x] Baal is semi retarded for opening a thread about a tv show the day after the finale airs and expecting people to not talk about the finale without using spoiler tags and then banning out of spite rather than flaming the asshole who did so
[ ]OP is going to continue discussion on the last checkbox and cringes at the thought of being flamed for being a flaming homo
A "November" post cause, well, actually, it was a good month despite the failed NL200 shot at the end. It was my biggest winning month in a long while, especially when you factor in the bonuses. I cleared and cashed out a $650 bonus that just arrived today, plus I bought another $650 and am halfway to clearing it and should be cashing it out by the end of this week. I made supernova for the first time ever and that is a big part of why I was able to get that second $650 bonus so quickly. I also bought 2 poker books from the store which will make nice holiday reading. I stopped reading poker books about 6 months ago and I'd like to get back into reading em again, even if they are mostly worthless. There's usually at least 1 or 2 good bits of advice in there and it gives me another way to keep my mind on poker without actually playing.
I ended the month with a NL200 shot that started off well and ended in a painful crash. I started @ $4,000 and dropped to $3,600, then rebounded and hit $5,000. At that point I owed my coach a payment (we're on a long term profit sharing thing and I'd hit a benchmark... it works out great cause I've definitely gotten lots of value out of the coaching and I honestly think I would pay a lot more for this level of time and skill being dedicated to helping me improve without this deal).
The payment was 1k which dropped me back to $4,000. I went to try and get back to $5,000 again and hit a downswing and let myself tilt a bit. Suddenly I'd lost 7 buyins @ NL200 and was down to $2,600. I moved back to NL100 and managed to keep losing down to $2,300. I played a monster Saturday night session in an attempt to recover and peaked @ 9 buyins, and then got coolered to hell and lost it all to break even for the night. Then sunday I won 3 buyins and decided to take a break for a few days and am sitting @ $2,600.
I'm happy though because for the first time in my life I played NL200 and felt comfortable there. I don't think that I'd "crush it" just yet, but I think I can make a small profit there right now at my skill level. And once I get solidly rolled for NL200 and keep getting coaching from sakisaki, I'm sure I will crush it.
For now the plan is to relax from poker untill tomorrow (wednesday) and then start regrinding. When I hit 4k again I'll take another shot with a 5 BI stop loss and I won't go over it this time! And I'll just keep doing that over and over again until I skyrocket into NL200, which I'm sure will happen soon enough. And of course, if things go bad I will drop back to NL50 and regrind it all over again. I've been through this so many times now that it feels like another case of the SSDD (same shit, different day). Thank god for supernova and bonuses which allow me to make money by breaking even, muahhahaha!
November i got my best month since i restarted poker back in July, it has been depressing grinding microstakes, and i keep playing different limits to stop me from getting bored.
Now that i'm fully rolled for NL25, i will try and overcome the downswing i encountered last month. For some reason i am alot more comfortable on NL50 as i said in the last blogpost.
Just need to put in a big amount of hands before/after work if i ever want to move back upto atleast 100nl 6-max, which i have never properly been rolled for.
Btw, thanks to the people who put their names forward with their MSN to talk poker etc, its keeping me motivated to keep playing. Trying to avoid WoW as much as possible to focus on poker.
...awesome! I think my hand reading skills, or at the very least putting my opponents in a category of weak, medium or strong hands has been very good lately. Of course with that and the combination of running 1 bi above expectation in each of my last two sessions, my confidence is at an all time high
I decided to try and open up my typical 12/9 game by raising a LOT more stuff on the button/cutoff/hijack. I also made looser calls vs regs and donks that I felt I could outplay postflop. I experimented with various lines that I wouldn't normally take to:
a. Potentially maximize value. Of course I probably took a few less optimal lines, but I figured it would be okay because...
b. Confuse the regs and give them bad reads (if they were paying attention at all)
Second time in a row villain has done this to me, so I figure reraising him here is pretty automatic. If he calls I am definitely shoving any non-diamond turn. + Show Spoiler +

I felt I played this hand fine based on my reads, but my reads were off. I checked the flop because I felt the shorty was soooooooo likely to bet his entire range on there, whereas my cbet would fold out a lot of it. I felt if he invested any amount of money postflop, he'd just stick the rest in. Of course I had to get some value out of random pps or weaker Ks, but I definitely didn't expect KardinaalS to show up with THAT. + Show Spoiler +

Now that I look back at this hand, I really only fold out one hand in his calling range, which is AQ (MAYYYBE JQ as well). So I guess mathematically speaking, this was a bad double barrel. But regardless, his turn check seemed weak since it lasted like 2-3 seconds. Something like KQ probably thinks a little longer than that. + Show Spoiler +

Mistake on the river. Raffy's bet was just straight up weakness, and I incorrectly assumed overunder was just calling because of pot odds. I just did a small checkraise squeeze because I figured both of them were weak. After overunder called though, I figured his range only consisted of monsters. Eh, I leveled myself into thinking he could have Ax on the river though looking for value, combined with the fact that another 3 came up making the only set likely for him to have 44. Didn't expect JJ though. + Show Spoiler +

Donkbet bluffed the flop a lot. I figured my hand was strong enough to be a bluff catcher for all three streets. the board ran out like total crap, but the reason I called him on the river is that he bet the turn pretty quickly. He then stalled on the river and shoved the rest of his chips in. The thing is, if he really had a 7, he would have def stopped on the turn to think about what to do with his open ender, likewise with the flush as well. Called and was delighted of course + Show Spoiler +

I'm considering making a video of one of my sessions in order to get some constructive criticism from some of you guys. GL at the tables.
Is pretty bad-ass. My mom is driving me down to Camp Pendelton(Marine Corps Base) for 3 weeks of training as i type. Hypothetically i could play Poker anywhere in the world, lag free(i've even used this satellite connection on the airplane to Maui. Anyways i'll be gone for 3 weeks for some combat training(shooting M249 SAW, throwing grenades, etc).
Another pointless blog, but it passes time while on the road. HF GL GG.
