| | My Training Regime by Sliggy, February 10
Well today marks the like 6th time I've gone broke. NOT a winning player yet. I've been playing since October but I feel like I'm not as good as I could be right now. I can't even crack NL10. Something is wrong!
I will NOT be depositing anymore moneys. Here is my training regime:
1. Read through 10 hands a day on LP.
2. Read through 10 hands a day on PokerStrategy.com
3. Watch 2 videos on PokerStrategy.com
4. Read 5 articles a day on PokerStrategy.com
DAILY!
I will be doing this while I wait for my bonuses to come in. I have bonus whored and I've got like 3 $50 bankrolls pending. One on Absolute Poker (rigged), one on PartyPoker, and one on Mansion Poker. Once they come through I will (eventually) cash them all out and submit on PokerStars where I will play exclusively.
I will NOT tilt, when I take a bad beat or make a shitty call, I will take a break. Even if I don't feel like I'm tilting. If I go broke after training for a while, playing by-the-book poker on low stakes without donating any of my own money, I will be quitting.
Time to put the hours in and become a STUDENT OF THA MOTHAFUCKIN' GAME~
(I watch videos on PokerStrategy.com and use PS Elephant instead of Holdem Manager because I want to pay for a subscription to deucescracked and HEM with money I make from poker. Which so far is about -(embarassing number) dollars.)

| | still doing ok at 50nl :) by whamm!, February 10
keeping to my word and so far im having continued success at 50nl, this time i just wanna go by what i promised and move up at 10k , which i think , is pretty soon anyway. i just hope i can hold on to my promise, but yeah that limit restriction option at stars is really helpful for guys like me who have little self control really. i know updating everyday is kinda annoying already but i just cant help monitor my progress so as not to just move up already lol

| | Live Tourney by Chewits, February 10
So I headed down to this card room near me last night for a tourney. Now I have played Poker with friends at mine and their houses before, but never at a casino/card room before. So I was a little nervous, but actually more excited. Here in Northern Ireland, Poker is a bit of a grey area when it comes to the law. I am sure some of you will have heard about the card room that got raided by the police a few years ago, and also the moving of the N.I poker championship down across the border, which was also called off due to police pressure. N.I has different laws than that of mainland UK, regarding gambling laws. THe main reason, is because of paramilitary groups, who could exploit it and use it as fronts to lauder money. But these times are mainly in the past, so i hope the laws changes soon. So as you can imagine playing poker Live in N.I is not easy. But I heard about this place on the net, and it does seem pretty legit. I dont know how it is legit, but it is a nice setup. Pretty much it mainly does Poker games, but has loads of slot machines and roulette, blackjack etc. It is a mini casino.
So anyway, the tourney was a £20 BI, with 2 rebuys. Start stack 4k, first rebuy if below 4k - 6k, and addon after first break, 8k. There were 45 entries, and first place was £900, with top 6 being paid. Not bad. I went with the mindset, to check the place out, enjoy myself and just see how it goes. I didint really want to use both my buy ins, and would be happy, if I go out early. So down to the players on my table. I think, our table was possibly the best table in the tourney. These guys were ALL talk, showing cards galore. Which was great for me lol. I just kept my mouth shut and never showed, if I took down a pot. I think it started to piss them off. I was playing relatively laggish early on, applying pressure, seeing where I stood. I got some pretty nice flops.
But then I made a BIG schoolboy error. Being my first time at a proper casino poker table, I was still learning how the betting worked. THe blinds were 150/300 I believe, and I was on the Button. I put in a 1k chip, and then said Raise. Where as i should have been saying raise then chip in. The reason is, that if you put a single chip in preflop, with no wording, then its taken as a call. News to me! lol The blinds just called/checked. I had like Q9suited, and flopped a straight, was checked to me and i bet 30% of pot, they both fold. This is where i made mistake, I showed my hand, and everyone was like "wtf Q9!? This kid is getting fkin raised now" lol. Maybe it was good, but i dunno. Another monster hand i picked up was this. Was UTG+1, had 44. Called, and it was folded round to SB, who had a good think about raising, then decided to just flat call, with BB checking. Board came 4s 6d 4d - sick flop lol. He bet bout 2k into the 6k pot, BB folded, i call. turn brought another diamond. He bets 3.7k now, and I raise to 7.8k, and then he shoves it all in, and i snap call him. He shows the K high flush, and I pick up a pretty sick pot lol.
So right now, I am sitting with around 70k chips, with average around 30k. I had been playing well, and bar one or two players at the table, they were all pretty shit. One guy had picked up KK 4 times at the table, showing EVERY time lol. He was so bad. He made a horrible call with 57o with a 3 5 9 board. Other guy had AA, and river brought another 5. He was bad, and was getting very lucky. Thankfully I bullied him with my stack and pushed him all in with AJsuited, vs his A6o, which took him out. Then I made a bad play, which made me start to play bad I think. I had picked up pocket 44 again, and the Button makes a small raise of 4.7k, (the blinds are 1/2k). I call from the BB. Now before the dealer shows the flop, he announces that he is allin blind. Flop is 7 9 9. His all in was around 24k, and I had about 60k. I REALLY should have folded here, but I honestly thought he was bullshitting. It was a bad read and a bad call, he turns over AA and I loose alot of chips.
After that hand, i just start getting utter trash hands, and blinds were going up pretty steep. I tried to make some plays, but completey missing the flop, and allthough trying to stab it, everytime ppl check/raising or coming over top with me. I was down to about 6-7 BBs, and now my only move was all in. Picked up AQ, mid position, and i shove it all in (at this point ive got 35k, and blinds are 3/6k), and i get a fast allin from a pretty big stack who had just moved from another table. He shows AK, and the board is dry, and i bust out in 12th place.
So I didint win anything, but I thought I played pretty well. I defintely was pissing off some of the players at the table, especially this one guy, who seriously would not shut the fuck up. He was yap yap yap yap, bla blablabla. Thank god for earphones!
A good night and good fun, and I will be definitely going back.

| | Freelollers by wolfheart, February 10
I havent played online poker like sososo long. Tho i have played live tournaments what we have with in local bug every 2 weeks. So far i am running hot there 3rd place now 2 first places in row. Field is though tho its small 10-16 playerse. No donks usually. Everyone knows how to play. Tho my agressive play pays off ..and i make my moves always right time and they fight back then i have real hand.
Tho it was until yesterday my friend told there is 10 500$ freerolls on triobet ..like 1 freeroll every half hour. Payout system was very good 50 first get 10 eruo what is good for starting bankroll. So i played 10 games and got into money with 2 of them Whooping 20 euro for evening. Not bad tho even i had 2 others tables in deep tournament also 150 left from 3,5k ppl. What i can say cant win them all if u get AA vs KK one time AA vs 66 and k hits set and 6ses hit quads. I think i only got money in bad once only in those tournaments but i am happy. I even helped to get my friend into money who got in my table and had JJ and i told I have QQ and 100k pushed ...he woulda called if i didnt QQ i was enormous shiplead that point 280k and didnt change much if i loose. Guy who pushed had AA i lost pot but my friend made into money. Anways i am happy ...hope to get that 20 eruto to 500 in soon

| | To hell with NL2 by LemOn[5thF], February 09
Thats it, I am done with NL2 and I don't know why anyone who knows the basics should play it on iPoker, no matter what BR he has
1) The Minimum Buy-in of $1 makes prudent Shortstack theory worthless. 100 BB all the time is simply too much. $2 is a must when catching an occasional fish, but BR doesn't allow me to go higher.
2) The ridiculous 10s counter encourages multitabling. Which increases delays between rounds even more, forcing me to 8table after 5 days of poker to get some action here and there.
3) The 50 BB min and many people coming with $5 (max allowed on all NL2 tables on iPoker) cripples the windfall from stealing blinds, and because of the ridiculous amount of multitablers it takes ages to find a fish that calls by 3Bets with lower cards.
4) The motivation plummets - 100 BB's, loong loong games or rock multitablers make it a fishing expedition which is very hard. I am forced to multitable, don't pay attention to tables and can't squeeze PT stats into the small windows.
I am moving up to NL4, even with my $13 BR on VCPoker.
NL2 showed me hands value and some basoc tricks, but many rules of poker and strategies for almost any different stake are not applicable there. Time to play some real poker now and get my $1 buy-ins worh it

| | 25nl is ez by ZenMagick, February 09
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f83fb288af3843947f360ba054a43a05.jpg
Im having a lot of fun owning people at 25nl. They are really easy to tilt.. regulars and donks alike. I usually drop around a buyin doing a lot of 3betting light and bluff raising and then people start going nuts and paying me off everytime. I also have started chat needling certain people. The prideful maniac type who takes everything personally. They get enraged and start overbet open raising and 4bet jamming everytime u 3bet. I would never needle a donkey who sucks out though, in fact I try to be really nice so they stick around. Anyways I have definitely found that 4 tables is optimal for me, any more than that and I dont think I play particularly well. I just seem to get in the autopilot mode. By 4 tabling I really get into the heads of the players and take good notes about how they play their hands.. as well as their emotional states and the game flow.

| | Liver recovery by EXCELED, February 09
I got absolutely wrecked on the weekend. Theo riginal plan for my weekend was my buddies were going to come donw friday night to get mangled on mushrooms and then we were goign to go out for my buddy scotts birthday on Saturday.
So Friday didnt go as expected. We did do mushrooms but there wasnt enough and none of us started trippin. We did them real early so we decided if the mushrooms werent working then we might as well dip in a 40ozer of whiskey that I had kicking around. My buddy scott was here but he was staying at his girlfriends so I called them up to see what that house was up to, I told them we were drinking and felt like going out and they were down. We polished off the 40oz and decided we were all going to meet at this bar called Jim Bobs. I still havent been to a lot of bars here in London so I figured we would try something new.
We ende dup beating Scott his, g/f and all her room mates to the bar. While we were there we decided to crush a few more shots while we were waiting. They got there about 20 minutes later and we decided that since Jim Bobs wasnt really pumpin we'd go check out Cowboys.... a country bar. I dont mind country any more really but I wont go out of my way to listen to it lol. Its even better when you're fucking wrecked too. We got there and it was pretty pumpin. Lots of people. I was planning on wheeling a random for the night but Michelle's (scotts g/f) room mate came out (ive mentioned her in a blog a while ago) I figured I would wheel her lol. It was going pretty good and we were going outside for a smoke and some girl plows through this door going outside and the door ends up rocking Meghan (michelles room mate) right in the chest... ouch. She was actually hurt lol. Instantly she gets really pissed and says fuck it Im going home. She goes and gets Lesley (michelles other roomie) and they leave. I said fuck it Im staying with the boys and saucing some more beers. We stayed, had some more beers and then just went back to my place and crashed hard.
In the morning we were wall prety hurting. We pretty much did fuck all all day except for smoke bongs and watch movies until my buddy Steve got here. When he got here we decided to play a game of poker then head over to Michelles for a serious pre drink before w ego out for Scotts birthday. Steve was talking all this shit because he came 9th in some tourney for $500 the other day so I decided I was going to show him that hes really just a nit that got lucky Braedon had the same idea lol. We played a pretty serious game actaully... like no one was being retarted or anything just a damn good game. During the Braedon made a straight up bluff on Steve for a huge pot. Steve mucked his hand and Braedon goes "Yea baby I got fuck alls, and shows 83" and Steve got a little mad. The next Steve raises UTG and it gets folded to me on the button. I look down... 72 baby. RAISE! Steve calls. I think the flop was like K94. Steve donks into me and I just flat call him. Turn is an A. He thinks for a bit then bets just over 1/2 the pot. I tank for a bit with the big 72 then go all in. Steve thinks abut this for what felt like forever and mucks. OF COURSE I flip over the 72 and he loses it lol. "Shouldice you play so fucking bad man blah blah blah" Braedon starts laughing his ass off after athat bluff too. Steve is in serious tilt mode lol. Next hand he raises again and I look down at KK, re pop, he shoves and I call. He shows QQ. BYE STEVE lol. I ended up getting heads up with Braedon and beating him. I had top pair, he had the flush and we were both all in. My hand holds up gg.
After the game we went out, got our booze and rolled over to Michelles place. When we got there everyone was arleady there just given er. Scott tells us he got us all a huge limo and VIP at this bar called up on Carling for his Bday. Sweeeet. Shots started flying and before I knew it I was drunk as fuck. The limos came and we headed out. Ive heard a lot of good things about the bar so I was pretty excited to check it out. When we got there we went straight to the VIP. This bar was siiiiick. Probably the best bar Ive been too here in London so far. They ended up giving us 5 bottles for Scotts birthday which was pretty sick too. I stuck to the rummers for most of the night. Braedon, Steve and I were talking to a group of girls and the one friend was beign such a fucking bitch to us. Steve ends up calling her a stupid bitch and she loses it and starts pushing us lol. Bouncers come over and tell US we have to leave. Fuck. I go back to the VIP to get my jacket and no one is there anymore and all the jackets are gone. Fuck. I ended up leaving and praying someone we were with grabbed it and that it wasnt stolen. Its pretty much impossible to get a cab ride home Saturday nights here in London unless you can wave one down. We ended up walking for 1/2hr before we got a cab.
After we got a cab we decided to go check out Michelles house to see what everyone was saying. We got there and most peoiple are passed out drunk and some people were just chillen. I go into the living room and theres Meghan passed out on the couch with my coat on. SWEET! I didnt lose my coat lol. I decided to just grab it in the morning because she looked way to comfortable. The rest of us took a cab back to my place and ended up crashing at like 7 in morning lol.
Sunday I was a total fucking write off. My buddies left around 1:00 and I just chilled all day doing NOTHING. around 5:00 I decided to take a nap because I slept like shit. Didnt end up waking up until today at 7am lol.
Yea pretty solid weekend. I need to start wheeling some box though soon lol. I got the boys and I some London Knight tickets for Friday. Should be a sick game. The Knights are fucking awesome now since they picked up John Tavares. Cant wait to see him play. I gotta go clean up tihs place a bit because its a mess then Im gonna smoke some bongs and put in a serious session.

Time to make my shot at NL200. My goal all the way since grinding the pennies at NL2 was to become an NL200 regular, and I'm right there. This is mainly because the hourly and yearly you can get from grinding NL200.
If I can be a consistent winner here, I will start cashing out money for myself at some point for the first time.
Are there any other suggestions? It only took me 3 months from being a struggling player at NL25 to beat NL100. I'm sure there are probably a few people advocating moving up as aggressively as possible until I'm not a winner or my winrate becomes very very small, but I think NL200 is a good spot to start. The way I looked at it was: 3k hands a day at 3ptbb weekdays only is nearly 100k a year. 2ptbb (which I'm confident I can do) is more than a lot of people out of college.
I'm really excited to have made it this far, especially since I just came out of NL100 with 3 sessions for an 8.5bi upswing. I've been beating both 6max and fullring, and my confidence is at an all time high.
NL100 stats since second shot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/effefc663c75848e905f11c52292720a.jpg
Side note, I ran at 6evptbb at 6max and 5evptbb in fullring this month

And with that, I'm out of small stakes for now! MIDSTAKES LOL

| | -20 bi by k2o4, February 09
Well not EXACTLY but I'm down $2,000 in EV for the month of feb across NL200/NL100/NL50. In terms of buyins I've actually only lost 3 BI @ NL200 and 7.5 BI @ NL100, and won 6.5 BI @ NL50, so in that sense it's not so bad. Here's how it looks:
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//General-2-9-09-All-Feb.jpg
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//Graph-2-9-09-All-Dollars-feb.jpg
Luckily I'm still playing quite well and I haven't tilted. That's pretty amazing imo. Not a single time have I gone on monkey tilt. I've only had 1 or 2 times where I went into robot tilt where I just started mindlessly playing. Otherwise I feel great about how I'm playing and then I check my results and all my losing hands end up being good barrells or bluffs that failed but were definitely the right move but I ran into the top of their range, and huge suckouts and lots of coolers. So I review my sessions these days and look at my biggest losing hands and think "Nice nice nice, well played, nice, perfect, couldn't do it better, maybe kinda spewy but that's the top of his range, nice, good one" and so on.
Played a shit load of hands this weekend, about 12k. I'm like a mega grinder all of a sudden and I really enjoy playing a lot. Also good to get those vpp and fpp building up. If I ever run hot I will be able to become a NL200 reg and then those milestone bonuses become very realistic.
still mixing in HU with 6max and I've played a few donkaments here and there which I keep busting in really early. I'm doing mostly those big daily guaranteed tournies since they're very soft and if I ever do win one of em I'll be very fucking happy but they're not that expensive to get into.
I'm excited for the lines to re converge and a heater to come so that I can make some big bank. Maybe this week? Who knows!

| | lol homegame by Night2o1, February 09
So I went to a homegame I found on craigslist(!), and it turned out really well. It was in an upper-scale condominium complex with security up front which is pretty cool/might help it be a bit safer. The host and his friend helping were really legit nice guys and I feel totally BM because I busted both of them.
It was a 1/2 game and I had almost forgotten how soft these games are compared to nl10(LOL). I am planning to play in these games 1-2 times a week for fun and profit (soon my hourly online will crush live 1/2 so it'll be largely for fun). The only problem is that I have no roll available atm.
An online grinder was there--he said his name is ManInABox or something similar, I couldn't find him on pokerstars, he plays 30/60 HU limit with some 50/100.. anyone ever seen him around? He was a cool guy and we may end up striking up a friendship.
I also have been reading Caro's book of tells and I didn't pick up too many things last night, but I seriously outleveled the fuck out of myself against this really huge fish. I couldn't believe how face up he was playing so I folded to his overbetshove + sit there motionless + more gameflow tells. I know not to do that again. Fishies are fishies
I found myself taking some really unorthodox lines, which I will have to think on, and it was really funny how against certain players you can tell you can bet $10 into a $50 pot and have as much fold equity as a $45 bet rofl.
Anyway, everyone was really cool and I think I ran into a good group of guys to play with. Rake was reasonable at 5% and they give you beer and sandwiches for tips (one of the dude's girlfriends comes and waitresses). The host said he knows another guy who runs 3 nights a week and is legit as well, so I can go play live in a pretty secure environment whenever I'd like.
Anyway I finish up 1bi and that's what I really matters for now
Biggest problem is that I really don't have the proper roll for these games and I'mma have to figure something out.
Is there any interest in backing for live 1/2 - 2/5 from you guys? I'm not sure if this is ever done online. I'll try and get some kind of track record of winning in these games first, though. Its too bad I don't know any of you IRL either. Maybe when I meet some of you in vegas ^^. Perhaps I'll just ask my grandma for a stake rofl <3
Looking to pick up a laptop tomorrow (assuming my fuckin bankwire clears from usemywallet), I have one picked out and everything ^^ Toshiba Sattellite m305 if you're curious http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.j...=8&type=product&cp=1&id=1218040477834
Gonna get on my grind and try to put in 30-40 hours by next Monday. Should go fine as long as I don't hit any gross discouraging downswongz.

Yo guys, today went kinda well, I got sucked out on in a few big pots, but all in all im pretty happy. I grinded another 2k something hands today on 001/002, and if this goes on, I will hit my goal soon. I want to make 100$ on this limit, and then move up to the next stake.
Other than that, I watched Midians video today, was pretty interesting, I hope to see more videos of LP members in the future. Maybe I will record one myself soon, could be good to find out possible leaks.
Well, here's my graph since I'm back at stars.

| | 1st week of Feb by RICHI8, February 08
The first week of February has gone great. I didn't get in as many as hands as I would have liked to, but the results have been good none the less. Every time I've been trying to get some hands in something always comes up. Like last night some friends from NY randomly took a road trip a couple weeks ago and were here in San Diego so I left my 500 hand session to go hang out with them.
Ideally, I'd like to get in 8k to 10k hands in since I do work full-time. This week I only got 5k in and I saw some of you beasts got in like 20k+. Nasty! This month has been an NL50 shot so far, which is going great. But anyway, on to my results, graph, and thoughts.
2/1: Didn't play
2/2: -$7.15
2/3: +$102.60
2/4: +141.60
2/5: +163.60
2/6: Didn't play
2/7: +119.65
Total profit: +$520.30

I'm definitely not running bad, but I'm not sure if I'm running good either. I had a couple sessions where I felt like I was getting pwned but still managed to pull some profit. It's definitely too early to tell whether I'm truly above the skill level of this stake. I do however feel like I'm playing excellent poker. Watching the vids on DC has helped a lot. I've really loosened up and I think it's really giving me great results in my big hands.
Regardless of my bankroll I don't plan on moving up to NL100 until I've put in 50k hands at this level. If I'm at 20 buy-ins for NL100 after 50k hands of NL50 then I will move up.
I'm going to get a session in right now for the 2nd week of February.
GL all.

Is there any sense to try HU when I lose @ 9max and 6max?? (break even with bonuses).
Keep in mind I 24 table cause I'm bored with micro stakes and cannot focus. Probably I'm winner if ~4 tabling
Is HU any harder than the rest?

not really great but def on pace on reaching 10k boomswitch br req for 100nl. 50nl is a very good limit to be in right now for me coz i can really go with reads and bluff more, just have to look for some more spots to make money. rakeback is kinda sweet coz i get like 10bi or more a week playing this, but then again, id love to have like 50bi winning months to go with that as well. i think i finally got this and starting to re evaluate my approach to the 100nl scene before i finally get there again, but this time at 100bi and a lot more intelligence and balls lol. here's feb so far.

28K hands (slightly below pace )
breakeven for 10K hands at NL50 - I think blueline over the last 3K hands is a combination of bad play at times + running bad (in terms of flops to cbet and hands I get, rather than suckouts etc).
Trying to adjust my game to what NL50 requires, mixed success so far, inconclusive results. I know I have leaks, I know I have things to change. Hopefully I can figure them out
