Step 1 officially done. by ConquistadoR, February 11

Ok, today I logged in a short sesh, about 700~ hands and after that, my goal was officially done. I made that 100$ today, and now I'm ready to go to the next level. Probably will aim for 200-250$ profits there, and then move on to the next level. Let's see if I can do it as fast as in NL2.

My stats during NL2 play.

Streamline Online Poker Existentialism (Downtime) by Modus, February 11

According to Pokerstars. I do not exist.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f42a6f08c16565047cd88e77b009b609.jpg

Before I realized that the the Pokerstars server was down, I looked at this and said "Where did I go?". I looked at the time and saw that I had played a few minutes past my-- well not exactly my bed time-- we'll call it the designated time frame for late night siestas. As since I've started playing poker, I have not slept very much. However, I would like to justify this trend in saying that I stay up later for the weaker competition. Once America goes to bed, Modus takes commie money. Actually, that's not true. It would be far more honest to say that I donate to a variety different time zones.

One might say that I am writing this blog because I am bored, and because the server is down. While that could be (exactly) right, I am reluctant to settle upon that conclusion. You see, my existence is a dichotomy alter-egos. By day I am study-for-the-GRE boy, and also help-plan-wedding-Man. Then my latest spawn has been Midnight-Poker-Person. I am not going to say which ego is of preference, but let's say you have about the same odds guessing correctly as you do hitting a flush 4 cards deep to a draw on the flop. My Brain Is Infected.

While I may try to romanticize my life in a way that is both exaggerated (and more fun to read), the truth is that I am at a crux in my life that cannot be shaken. I am on the cusp of so much change that I don't even really know who I am anymore. You know how when you're in school you can say that you're a student whenever someone asks you what you do? Well now I'd have to Pokerface an answer. It is unlikely that I will be able to get into any of my "top" graduate schools, but I am still trying. It's kinda sad and embarrassing to admit-- but I kinda thought if I learned poker a little bit I could use any bit of the money I gained to help me with the cost of applications. Sh don't tell anyone. At the stakes I am currently learning at, that seems like the only feasible goal that could provide me the motivation to continue cultivating an interest in poker, while also keeping my priorities in check. However, don't ask me to define my priorities, I'm still figuring that one out.

Anyhow, The empty cashier image is symbolic of my alter-ego transitions. I'm sure Clark Kent feels the same way when he sees a Phone booth, or when the Hulk sees a Pea. It is a reminder that I am composed of many different identities, and adulthood bears down on you to assimilate all of them into an acceptable package. Frankly, I feel too weird to do that.

Whether you are Superman...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/14bc7a71d7f82e9d9fbaaabc7825f521.jpg
The Hulk... or a pea... a pluralistic definition of self is required to make sense of your place in the world.

Just as Clark Kent is Superman by the phone booth, and Hulk is... well.. the hulk... through... umm... anger. My identity is forged in sort of transitional mobility. I am never not myself, but I am never myself completely. My struggle in adulthood is to find equilibrium.

As a reward for getting this far in the blog, I give you an image. You will be pleased to know that I am not the only super hero in my relationship, as my wife-to-be is also known as ButterFly Woman. Don't ask me what her powers are (because it's sexual).

According to the Pokerstars cashier tab--I exist again. Therefore, I must return to help fight poverty in the countries that are currently awake. I'll be damned if they all don't have another euro in their pockets by the end of the night.

shot gone wrong by remember87, February 11

yesterday I decided not to play today but when I saw a 9-max table at NL1000 full of fish I couldnt resist.

after only a few hands I got it in versus my main target in my biggest pot so far:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/629883

well.. life goes on. After only like 20 hands or so later I met the second worst player at the table in my second biggest pot:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/629888

I dont think I could have played either of them different. In the last hand he gets it in with so many draws, pairs etc that I must be ahead of his range.

So: back to grinding NL200 again I guess

Update + Video by Yaffie, February 11

I haven't updated my blog for nearly 2 months now so thought it was about time.

I was working pretty hard all thru january as i had 4 exams and 2 essays due. They all went well, so I'm pleased with that.

Poker wise I've been playing more recently - I was lolling around at NL10 for ages having withdrawn my bankroll twice. But seeing as I had 30 buyins, I moved up again to NL25 6max last week. I'm limiting myself to 6 tables which isn't bad at all - I was playing up to 20 tables at nl10 but I don't think I could do that profitably at nl25.

My flatmate rANDY and I have started recording sessions of ourselves with live commentary, where we both sit in. I comment on his play at nl50 and he does the same on mine at nl25. Once we have a decent set we'll upload them if anyone is interested. If not, it feels like a good exercise to do to make sure we have reason for all our plays.

Graph since last update:

[NL50] breakevenaments by Uptown, February 11

+$10 to be exact

Was aiming for 6K hands, got 5.1K in.

I think my game's getting somewhere, despite the mixed results. I obviously have retarded parts of my game, exemplified by this hand, but I'm doing my best to open up more LP, and raise in spots I used to be weak money.

I think the main challenges will be:

* Dealing with steals when I'm in sb/bb
* Dealing with light 3betters(7-8%) when I'm oop (I'm MP, and BU 3bets, etc)
* Opening up to about 26/23'ish from CO/BU

Today's Graph

I was spazzing out so hard when these hands came within like 30 hands of each other right after I started 2nd session (resulting in that cliff)

LOL HORSEAMENTS. by Ftrunkz, February 11

Lololol. As much as i have NO experiance in any of the games, the other players seemed so horrible at basic logic for the stud games... Especially razz. Things like they're showing 2TJ on fifth street and still calling my bets when im showing A56... But obviously i still ran really well to get 3rd =].
A good boost to my roll and makes up for my -$200 day yesterday. :D

PS: if u missed my last blog, scroll down and take a peep, it's a funny one

Where to Buy Wii? by k2o4, February 10

I have decided to get a wii now that I've checked their online game store and seen that all the old zelda's and marios are available there. Problem is I have no idea what the best way to go is. Preferably I'd like to just go to a store and buy one - I don't want to wait for it to ship. But I also want the best deal possible. I'd be happy just getting the very basics with the console/basic cords/1 controller since I can plug in my gamecube controller and it will work for all the old nintendo games. Then I can add accessories over time. At the same time, if I can find a deal where I can get some sort of bundle and another control + things like the wii fit or the mariokart wheel or the gun to use for COD then I'd gladly pay a little extra.

I've looked around and it seemed like amazon.com had a pretty good price, the same as what I was finding on ebay, and I trust the products from amazon.com more than what I might get from an ebay seller. I couldn't find any better spot to buy it online, but like I said I'd much rather pick one up in the store cause I'm eager to have it. Thing is, seems a lot of stores don't have wii's in stock. They seem to have it available for online ordering but say specifically that it's not in the store (ie target).

Anyway, thoughts? Suggestions?

(btw I'm thinking of this as a poker investment, cause, what better way to un-tilt than to have a mario 64 or ocarina of time session?)

GG NL200 session by edzwoo, February 10

Quick summary:

Played 720 hands of NL200 6max

AA vs 97 3bet pot bvb vs donk 939 flop
AQ vs KK aipf, I squeezed and he 4bet me when I was very sure he'd 4bet me with his whole range in that spot
QhJd vs 33 Q32ddd board aiflop vs 100% flop cbet raiser
JJ vs 77 3bet pot vs donk flop 972
AK vs KK aipf bvb
QQ vs 87 T974 ai turn two pair river
QJ vs 89 9J5 board, called c/r on flop and checked down where he rivered two pair.
AQ vs AJ 3bet pot, floated me on 696 and backdoored a flush
TT vs A9s 876 board backdoored a flush
27.5 cbet success rate. My cbet was raised on the flop over 50% of the time by passive players. This was across multiple tables.

Dropped 5bi total, ran 2bi under expectation.

This really sucks because I've only played 3800 hands of NL200 and didn't get enough time to even adjust to the regs here.

Time to regrind NL100.

Sustainable. by Night2o1, February 10

I'm running pretty bad in non-showdown pots but really, who gives a shit when this is going on?

+200 online for the month, hopefully things will just goto regular 3-5BB/100 mode instead of some crazy downswing and I can finish this month up atleast 20bi +bonuses and rakeback. The plan is then to run good at 1/2 and 2/5 in vegas and ship nl100 reg status by the end of march lol.

I also won a freeroll satellite into a 100k gntd tournament, ship $163 nontransferrable. Don't worry, I'll run like god and cash?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/bcda6651d8870c594a71675753e98062.jpg

I also bought my laptop today so I'm gonan be able to grind an extra 6-8 hours/week. ^_^

Question about Vegas? by mikeymoo, February 10

So my sister's getting married next year, and the bachelor party's being held in Vegas. Problem? I'm 19 for next year spring.
My question? Am I allowed on the casino floor, just as long as I don't touch shit or go into the gaming areas?
I'm hoping someone here knows.

>_<

Thanks.

PS: Haven't played poker since January- school kicking my ass atm.
