I am starting a blog to act as a journal for myself, to be able to reflect back upon day after day, month after month, and see how my frame of mind changes and how my play evolves. Any comments will always be welcome.
I recently read about Daniel challenging himself to go from $10 to $100k by playing 5 buyins per limit at a time. This idea inspired me to try the same, albeit I will be starting at NL25 just because I feel like it, so that means a starting bankroll of $125, and I move up to NL50 at $250. I am simply doing this as I have reached a point where I lack much motivation with this game, and a new "system" like this has aroused by interest, so it's more for fun than anything. I also think it is a rather novel idea for a new challenge amidst all the bankroll building challenges out there which could have some interesting results, and at least offer a lot of excitement.
I may or may not stop the challenge at a certain bankroll, depending upon whether I wish to end it and play properly rolled for a certain limit or not. For instance, if I were to make $20,000, I would probably want to just stop, and either cash out with greed, and play whatever limit that would roll me for. Or of course maybe I'll actually have the discipline to continue playing all the way to 100k. Again, really just for fun since thats all that drives me these days.
Since I expect the swings to be pretty wild I'll probably update with progress after each session, since a good day could mean a new limit, and a bad one could mean dropping two. Since there is no real method to this madness, I have made a few rules of my own:
1) 2 BI stop loss no matter what, to avoid tilt
2) Have to regrind to 5 buyin's before taking another shot
3) Will play one table at a time only 4) If I double up at a table I will sitout on the next blind so as to avoid having too large a percentage of my bankroll on the table at any given point (see post #18)
5) I will play 6max only as that is the only game I am any good at
6) Buyin requirement may increase at higher levels if it looks as though I cant compete, at NL600 for example.
playing bad ... running worse.by Raguna, February 10
I usually tend to keep cool about poker, but these past few days have been by far the most frustrating since I started.
I've lost every coin flip (about six or seven) for stacks in the past three days QQ vs AK, AKs vs TT ... possibly the most painful being AKs vs 44. Lost KK to AK twice, ran KK into AA twice. In the past fifteen minutes alone, I lost AKs to 79o against a shorty, lost QQ to AK, lost TT to 55 . . . all of which were all in preflop.
The worst part about this is that running bad has been making me play even worse than I normally do, and my confidence is going way down.
guess I´m not a very good blogger - a small indication of that is when a reader has to beg for an update
I have to appologise for the lack of updates. I guess I will take it more serious when I feel I have something to report. Right now I am trying to find time to play. Some days I get several hours in and win steadily and everything feels good. Everyday should be like this since my opponents are not that great. However, the next day I only play like half an hour and run superbad, loosing all the money from earlier and suddenly it doesnt feel that great any more.
Today was one of those great days, up around 2k. I had position on some superbad players who threw money on me. I hope I dont loose them all tomorrow think I will avoid poker just to be shure of that
I wish I hadnt all the law-stuff hanging on me. Normally I think law is fun but right now I have become somewhat school-tired or what its called. I think this term beeing pretty boring has a lot to do with this. So it feels like its taking time and focus away from poker and other things thats more fun. Guess I have to do the best of the situation and study a fair amount of time atleast. If I can hold on until the summer I can take time out from school, 6-12 months or something, and then feel really motivated again to come back and study.
well on sunday i had a monster horror session on NL100 HU ....
it started out extremly nice and i was up 310$ after 2hours and 600 hands of play ....
would this actually be the first sunday i make decent profit ?
Well ofc i was wrong .... i never profit on sundays
the next 600 hands were horror and every villians just always hit every hand ....
I lost 340$ and was down - 30$ .....
I started evening session and it started out nicely ... after 200 Hands i had profit of 210$ was up 180$ for the day
should have called it a session ....
Unfortunately i continued and lost 330$ in the next 300 hands to total fish who with sick setups ...
like flopped nutstraight vs flopped flush and stuff ...
ended the day - 150$ and was pretty pissed ...
I felt liek throwing my poker career completely away and just grind NL25 for the rest of my life without ever having any intention to move up again.
Monday = i played 700 hands of Nl25 6max 6tabling and made an easy +55$ doing 42$/h ^^
Today = well i concentrated mostly on MMA and just played 100Hands Nl100 HU vs 20-35$ shorties and made +75$
Overall for the month i am down - 55$
should be no problem to turn that into some nice green ^^
since even at lowest levels i will play ( Nl25) thats doable in 2-3 h
^^
edit it recived 15$ rakeback on FT and turned it into 55$...
updated month = - 0 $
A good Nl100 HU session might put me 300 in the green within 2 hours
So i am confident i can still profit good this month
Some may ask = why Nl25 6max and Nl100 HU ?
why not NL50 or Nl100 6max all the way .
Answer is easy
I suck at 6max and HU is my best game.
+ i dont enjoy 6max.
However i cant always play HU cause when i am Tilted at Nl100 i lose too much money.
Well I've been here for a while. And it just gets more retarded than ever and i know many people agree with me. If anyone wants to talk with me MSN me since this is the last post and visit of me here.
I was banned over a week ago cause I did a very standard within the limit joke. And I didnt get unbanned after a week. And now im banned again. And I dont even want to know the reasons since I cant care less about this.
I am just sick of the ass kissing and double standards of many retarded members/mods.
I will be posting at this other site who has Dzoo and twisted which is way more friendly and has lot more content form respectable people.
I have introduced many people to LP and I will make sure no one that I know will post here again either.
So I have access to a practice midterm, but not the answers. I don't know why the prof decided not to release them. Anyways it doesn't matter much since I can just compile and run the code for answers.
A few questions:
1. What is the output of this program fragment?
double X = 123.321;
String Y = "Hi!";
System.out.format("%7.3f%s", X, Y);
I dunno what System.out.format is. Wtf is %7.3f%s?
4.What is the output of this program fragment? Read it carefully!
String greet = "Hi";
String name = "Smedley";
String nickName = name.substring(0,4);
if (nickName == "Smed")
System.out.println("has real nickname");
else if (greet + name == greet + nickName)
System.out.println("no real nickname");
else
System.out.println("hmmm...changed names?");
Ok so after reading this one I decided the program would print "has real nickname" since name.substring(0,4) is the same as "Smed." However after running the code it actually printed "hmmm...changed names?" No clue why this is the case, can someone explain?
15. Suppose you wanted to use a function to initialize three (already declared) variables that are not fields of a class. Further suppose you are doing this in a language that allows passing parameters either by value or by reference. To initialize the variables,
A. you should pass them to the function by reference and set the values in the function; the variables will be initialized when the function returns.
B. you should pass them to the function by value and set the values in the function; the variables will be initialized when the function returns.
C. you should pass them to the function by value, set the values in the function, then return these values via a return statement.
D. define these variables so they are global to the function, then set their values within the function; that is the preferred approach.
E. you should adopt another approach: none of the above methods is a reasonable approach.
I mentioned that I don't have the answers and this is one question I can't "test." I was thinking A but am not sure. You're supposed to pass variables to functions by reference, right?
16.Here is a list of steps to be taken when a function with a parameter is called:
I. execute the function (and use the formal parameter during its execution)
II. delete the temporary storage associated with the formal parameter
III. do whatever work is necessary to determine the actual parameter‘s value
IV. do whatever work is necessary to resolve the actual parameter to a location in memory
V. create temporary storage with the name of the formal parameter
VI. copy the value of the actual parameter to the temporary storage location
VII. copy the memory location of the actual parameter to the temporary storage location
Now suppose a function is called with a parameter that is passed by reference. In order, what steps are taken to execute the function, from the start of the call through its completion, that involve this parameter? (The lists below give steps in order when read left to right.)
A. III, V, VI, I, II
B. IV, V, VII, I, II
C. V, VII, III, II, I
D. V, VI, IV, II, I
E. IV, V, VI, II, I
LOL NO CLUE ABOUT THIS ONE.
But yea, since I only have an hour please just whoever respond with whatever answer you have asap! Thanx a lot
I'm a degen looking to get down on some of these games for microstakes 5-20 bucks since I expect most of my favorites will often be dogs and I'm not exactly versed in SC strategy. I may require some incentive to take some big dogs i.e. 30:20 etc but just post here if you want on a side and we can work out 3rd party to hold. I'll do last longers with one or multiple players as well as head to head bets. Just let me know what you're interested in.
For starters I'll offer 20 even money on Leta, if anyone wants Flash.
I'll also put 20 on over 3.5 Terran making to Ro8. Since Flash/Leta is auto 1, basically I'm saying 3 of Hwasin, NaDa, Forgg, Frozean, UpMagic will win. If 2 or less win, then I lose.
Also other people feel free to offer/take bets they want in comments.
I won yesterday 2 freerolls 10 euro each, so i had 20 eruo bankroll. I hitted 0.02/0.04 eruo tables 4 tabing after work. First i wanna say prima layout sux bigtime i still dont understnad what those raises really are if u make them ..but ater half session i started to love LOve really that pet pot button it came my master destruction button.
Session started not good went down like -7 eruo first, mostly bad beats and trying to bluf donks out with bottom pair firing 3 times.
So then i got back 20 i started to feel more confident. First i played some limp poker limping 2 face cards but in middle of session i raised any 2 face card or ok ace cutoff+ button. It was just so easy money if somone called and checked to me i like thought 2 secs and bet pot and worked like 99% times in session. Or then i had really big pair and they wanted to fight back they got fucked over.
About players ..Abosolute terrible callingstation WEAK PASSIve ppl. They never know how to take max value and call of even on river without pair. Can check my hands how bad they payed me off.
Final Result for end of session +11,5 BIs so my roll is now 66 Euro. I will play tomorrow and then i reach 100 i prolly take 2 bi stab at 10nl tables.
I quit poker about 6 months ago, cashing out $1,000 that I made starting from play chips. Your probably aware that you can sell play chips from about $8-$12 per million. It took me about 6 months to make it from 1,000 play chips to $1,000 last time, this time my goal is to make it to $10,000 by January 1st 2009. I don't plan on cashing out at the end or any point during the year. I'm simply setting this as my goal as something to reach for. I will be mainly playing cash game with some MTT's thrown in. Any tips would be appreciated. I will track my process in this blog. I probably won't post too much while im in the play money phase, because you guys probably wouldn't care very much. I plan on selling when i get either 5 or 10 million. My next post will probably be when i reach 1 million.
I just played the most hands ive ever played in 1 session
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 26339 hands and saw flop:
- 1593 out of 4974 times while in big blind (32%)
- 1017 out of 4976 times while in small blind (20%)
- 2156 out of 16389 times in other positions (13%)
- a total of 4766 out of 26339 (18%)
Pots won at showdown - 683 of 1388 (49%)
Pots won without showdown - 5183
26,339 hands
Swung a ton, great day for FPP's and motivation though, and just a slight bump in the road, still on NL50 and very confident.
Im working really hard each day, im grinding like there's no tomorrow, but it really pays off so far. The multitabling and all really increases my discipline and it feels really good to own ppl again, my damaged confidence needs something like that! Hope i can continue like this on the higher levels as well, but I think I can do it, I just need to own the tiltfucker inside of me.
My eyes look fucked up already, they are like bloodshot from staring at the screen all the time, so im going to play maybe only one more session today, and grind on tomorrow, and hopefully I will manage my goal and get that 50'th buyin by tomorrow, and then byebye NL2.
Feel like I'm getting somewhere with redline, but good god the blueline blow. Wonder whether that's because (a) calling down too light, (b) bad betsizing for value, (c) I suck.
I think it's (c) imo.
edit: hmm, do I need to be even looser from LP do you think?
