First off anyone played the new NHL Arcade game on 360? Its sick lol. I OWN at it. If anyone wants to play me in it pm me here and we can make a match. Maybe a little wager on it? Ok onto poker:
I had a really good day at the tables today. Ive been working on a few things in my game lately and so far its been working out and it showed today. It started off a little bit rough and KK was not my friend at all today. Out of my top 10 loisng hands today 6 of them were while holding pockey kings. Shittaay.
I knew I wasnt playing bad or anything so I didnt let it affect me and I kept diggin away. After a little while things started to really turn around for me and I managed to get up just over 2 BI's.
I took a break and made some dinner. While I was eating I was watching Urindanger play Gus HU at PLO. Those games are crazy man I dont know if I could handle the swings PLO brings. These guys really seem to think Gus is a huge fish and sometimes I believe it lol. When Gus is running hot watch out. I think Urin got the best of him today though it was pretty entertaining. I saw a crazy sick 241k pot earlier too with Benyamine got his nut flush cracked by a str8 flush. GROSS.
After dinner and watching all this Heads up I felt like playing some heads up too and did just that. Im glad I did. I had a massive fish at my table which was great. He was just spewing at everything and always betting over pot. It was so easy to trap this guy it was rediculous. I eventually got the best of him and made just about 2 BI's before I think I cleaned out his account. The best part was he was telling me how terrible I was etc. etc. I will for sure be looking for him in the future.
It definitly was a great day at the tables. I played really well and a bit more patient then usual which is what I think made the difference on the day. Heres the graph:
I didnt really have any plans tonight and no one was doign anything because it seems like everyone around here except me has exams/already done exams and gone home. I was bored and saw a pretty decent tourney getting started so I decided to paly in it. It was a 4k garunteed 6 max tourney. Ive been doing really well in these 6 max tourneys on UB lately and I did pretty well again tonight. I managed to come 18th for $40 woooo lol. I played pretty well and just ran out of time. I ended up running my 1010 into AA. GG lol.
So a $150 day for me. Im pretty happy about it. Tomorrow I got a shitton of school work to do which sucks so Im not sure how much Im going to play. I want to get some hands in but who knows.
Omg, i just did some instane revelations... i was out with some friends and we drank some and we tlke d about whateber stufff and he started talking about wold problems and all of a sudden, i relaise... it's the fucking end off the world... like, he studies that shit and told me that pakistatian people are pissed off at the western world and they want to nuke them and everytihng they stand for. Anyways, I guess that's all, he just told me that within now and 20 years the 3rd world war will start...
it will be europe + usa + candada + south america and mexico etc. against china, middle eastern asia like iran and pakistand and what not and the entire continent of afirca, we are going to be so fucked...
I decided to hang around at NL5 SH for a while, NL10 is cursed with stations and massive amount of midstacks and it turns into turbo SnG like shove/fold fest far too often.
I had one massive 1 day tilt a while ago, and thank god the luckboxed $26 win in my third MTT ever helped me to get back on track, win 10BI regularly + 14BI in a MTT SnG in 3 days.
But since the lucky second place I have become overconfident, which made me a degen playing 4.40 180 Mans when I didn't have the skills at all.
Whats next:
1) Attempt to play LAG on 20/10 tables (yes you can find these easily NL5 despite what most of you think)
2) Stop the tarded 4.40 SnG's. 1.1 Are enough for me.
I will read some poker strategy Articles on SnG's if I have spare time and Cash games bore me and maybe checkout some ICM trainer.
3) Slowly build roll for NL25. I still plan to do the last 7-10BI at NL10 to adjust to the 100bb weirdness.
4) Continue reading everything in Low Stakes, and get through the Advanced Articles.
Make it to Gold at Poker strategy and read all articles there (like 20 3+page articles)
I still didn't find any good SH videos, those at PS are not that good so if someone wants to point me to some site I'd appreciate it.
P.S. My decision to Stay at NL5:
Maybe you might disagree with me, but NL5 is the best platform for learning poker.
What I still don't quite understand as I moved to SH recently and wouldn't be able to train well NL10:
-Second Barrel
-LAG style
-Floating
-3Bets/4bets
-Playing sc well
I suck at all these and NL10 its hard to do them without becoming pot committed. I tried, and I failed so NL10 forced me to play like a nit.
Yes, I agree that the way I am over thinking the limit probably hurts my win rate (7ptbbBB/100 overall and 9ptbb/100 after initial 15K hands), but what the hell- I am having fun, have the cool feeling like in BW when I read an strategy article and use it directly.
I love NL5 and leaving it will hurt my heart.
BR when Started: $50
BR: $552 (I once deposited $50 to get a bonus and withdrew it back two days ago)
FPP: used 1200 to buy a Tee for me and my GF, now I got 600 and am saving for the Porsche.
Several months back they started advertising for a new movie called "The Spirit" which was another graphic novel thing in the vein of Sin City and 300. The ads fucking blew. Just some guy running on super cartoony rooftops talking about his city bleeding or screaming or some shit. The movie looked stupid as hell and I had no desire to go see it. I don't know for sure, but I think it bombed at the theaters. I never heard a single person talk about seeing it and I don't remember it being in the theaters for very long.
But now they're doing new advertisements for the DVD release and they are pretty sweet. You've got some good catchylines, nice visuals, sexy shots of sexy girls like eva mendes, and cool music. It actually looks like it could be an entertaining movie. Probably won't be a sin city but overall it has potential to be a fun action flick. So I've put it on my netflix list.
I can't get over how big of a failure their original advertising campaign was. If they'd done the commercials they have now then I'm betting that movie would have done at least decently. I bet whoever advised that original advertising campaign got fired and shunned, and he deserves it. That decision basically set the movie up to fail.
This gets me thinking to how important advertising is. There are so many bad movies that do well cause they have the power of big money behind them pushing commercials and product tie ins all over the place, and there's good movies who either have stupid advertising like "The Spirit" or can't afford to advertise and then do mediocre or fail. Yeah, it's kind of a "duh" moment so everyone with a smartass reply can save it, but it's also a kind of "whoa" moment to realize that you are going to miss so many great things cause they weren't properly advertised. It's all about marketing.
Cutting down tables from ~12 to 3-4 has really helped my game. Feels really good pokerwise. Its a small sample of hands but it feels really good, running kinda bad all in pre, AA is a loser over that 6k handsample but what can u do right? Cant blame how im running postflop though
Im also playin a bit laggy compared to my old "style" allthough im not 3 betting as much as i used to do.. But def just pound on weak players isolating a ton ton ton IP..
this month has been so swingy for me and i can't seem to get past 3k in profits, really tilting me a bit coz i know i can beat 100nl and im really not concerned with any regs now unlike last year where i thought regs were like this elite circle of players who shouldn't be messed with. these days, i actually look for regs to fuck around with and play for stacks asap if i feel they're testing my "exploitability" and shit. i act mostly on feel and obv stats and so far ive cut down some tables sine i actually think things through and process a lot of info on big pots im in. My 200nl shot was just horrible but im not so concerned about it coz it was typcial moving up coolers mostly and i just dont have a lot of experience with most ppl there so i dunno where i stand most times and when i get it in waaay ahead i lose money and cry lol. but obv going back to 100nl after is very fun coz i get to mess around with ppl and just exchange coolers haha. lately ive been swinging hard and but ill try to end sessions with a win if possible and not grind mindlessly when im tired. graph so far this month:
Goals so far for may is reach 25k by start of june and fly to vegas and meet some lp ppl, maybe get some tutoring if i can. im happy to be at 100nl, and this time, finally beating it. gl ppl.
note: I WILL NOW TRY MY BEST TO END ON A WINNING +4BI session everytime and not play the rest of the day and see how it goes, no more "extra" sessions where i mostly just spew or tilt the day's winnings, this day will be my first attempt at that and I ended today at 5333 hands, up about 563usd or 5.5bi.
So I have focused on playing cash games recently and dropped down to play NL200. Since I live off my winnings, I increased bankroll requirements to reflect that, even if I have a big losing week, I still might need to withdraw money. So from now on, I want at least 70 buyins for a given limit (so $28k for NL400 say). Said cash games have been going quite well. Over the past few months, a lot things just came together in my game, and my winrate has been steadily growing. I also got rakeback at FTP after having an account with them for years and not playing on it ever since clearing my initial deposit bonus. Having rakeback there lets me table select between Stars and FTP. While neither is all that hard, FTP does seems to be softer with more tables with fish.
Here is my April graph so far. I also broke my dry streak in MTTs, cashing in the Supernova 75k for $90 (fuck yeah!).
Birthday on UFC night is ballerby Highcard, April 18
Yo, so at least this birthday I have something enjoyable to do on my birthday, going to go hit up some bars to watch UFC. I don't know how many single girls will be running around the bar for a UFC night but I hope many lol. Anyways, here is some more Kutiman (refers to previous post).
was watching a myth CR video and i had an epiphany. i used to think i was a nit at heart. i'm actually a station. i don't like making so many blogs but this is such a huge revelation for me that i've gotta make a note here in case i one day become extremely famous. then i can look back and be like "yeah see, poker changed my life. right here i discovered i was a station when i thought i was a nit. and this changes everything."
SallySpectra raised PF, i called, strategiclee called.
What do you do on that flop?
- i folded because i have zero fold equity against SallySpectra imo? so i'm probably behind when he calls my shove.
So: probably behind + 0 fold equity = fold that flop
Am i right?
Played pretty well, had a couple questionable hands and got sucked out once for a full buyin KK
I realized I don't have any poker friends, so add me on AIM yo. Scal4Three44
I'm getting adderol for something not poker related, but I've heard it helps you play longer and stay focused. Anyone have any experience with it? Thanks
Might play one more session later but have my last final on Tuesday and then I'll be done with school until September. I plan to play a lot this summer and hopefully do quite well.
As said i have almost no clue about the new maps since i only know LT,Luna,Gaia,Legacy of Char, Azalea,GaemaGowon,NamjiYagi etc. and that stuff
So after going 7-0 vs D players my newbness finally got map abused ^^
Terran walled in and build some marines
i didnt see him going fast expansion nor did he have a lot of marines
so i figured i will go heavy macro before going lurkers + build some zerglings to be save against drop.
then suddenly 4 vultures are in my base killing my drones ....
i was liek wtf how did this happen ?
I have overloards in my base to see drops ... i have lings in front of his base to see dropship going out or any ground unit going out ....
So what happend was -> he sent 2 scv at start -> one into my base to scout and the other doing a proxy factory
i had killed the first scv so i felt save ...
second scv mined the mineral patch who blocked my backdoor ramp entrance to main ( i didnt notice)
4 vultures sneak in.
I only had like massive drones and 8 lings ...
he microed a bit and gg
pokerwise yesterday was good
2,6K hands + 67$ 9 tabling Nl25 6max
So i am only down 75$ for April.
the bad thing is i am down 550$ on NL50 6max in just 2,7K hands this month >-<
Whenever i have a hand at NL50 i got pwnd hardcore by dealer...
since i cashed out a bit for snowboarding i think i will just 9table grind Nl25 6max for rest of the month.
played 13,6K hands in 4 sessions of Nl25 6max this month and achieved + 370$ profits
Took 2.2bi shot at 5-10. I played wayyyyyyy not like myself at all and made some really crappy errors + ran bad in one spot. Sigh. Fuck. I won't play 5-10 'til may.
I'm still up (and haven't spent lol) quite a bit of my profit for april. I'm just going to grind 2/5 and if I keep running bad I will drop to 1/3 or what not. Really, my goal for april was to make 6k and I'm right at that mark now. I just hope I don't run bad much longer.
Played some 2/5 after my crappy 5/10 session. Went pretty well, I was up a buyin. Then my last hand UTG I have 77 and flop 745dd. Get it in on the flop for 100bb. Obv he flips 68dd and I don't boat up. Second time I've gotten stacked UTG on my last hand. Sigh.
So -2.2k for the day.
Gotta play my normal game when I play 5/10 next.
No downswing plz poker lords.
oh yah, myth sat'd into the 25k today(Saturday) at bellagio, glglglgl
Hey again guys, gonna write a blog entry almost exclusively about poker this time.
Last blog post I talked about how I'd been doing, how in general I was swinging quite a bit, but the trend was that I've been losing since restarting after a 4 month break from poker. I'd tried to experiment, but largely unsuccessfully, but also posted that I had started to recover the style that I used to play with some success, and this is how it's continued since then. By and large I've been playing much better poker in the last few days, and although results don't show it, (see below) I'm still happy with the improvement that I've been making. It's taken me a while to remember what I used to do well, why, and how it worked, but my confidence has regrown and I think that I can turn around this month, which I'm currently down 4.4k in, and bring it back into the green by the end of the month.
Despite the new WoW patch coming out just a few days ago I've still managed to put in a lot of hands (above is 15th April until now) and minimised WoW time to just raiding in the morning then not logging on for the rest of the day.
I'll leave with the note that I intend to make another video shortly, somewhere between 50nl and 400nl, but I'm undecided where just yet. I'm leaning towards 50nl or 100nl at the moment since I made a already 400nl one before (That I wasn't very proud of, but still ...). Leave comments if you're interested with what you wanna see, choices are limits and number of tables, up to a maximum of 4. The video will certainly be 6max.
