sigh + lifetime stuff by CrownRoyal, April 21

So i can't win @ nl200. No one is good there, i hate complaining about running bad but i get stupid stuff like 3b pot kq vs aq on a q hi board (cant fold here sorry, dont like getting ran over) I'm down 1200 over 9k hands there wtfever fml.

I basically win like 800 @ nl100 and then lose 400 at nl200 and rinse and repeat. sigh
I've been playing 22/18 this month 12-16 tabling and winning @ 3ptbb which is a much better hourly than my 30/25 game @ 4.5ptbb/100 playing 2-6 tables.

Lifetime @ nl100

Love my combo :) by LemOn[5thF], April 21

Poker just got even more Interesting.

I started my session playing LAGgy NL10 4tables, and as this is so hard on my brain (I actually use Stove again for many hands) I can't keep it up for more than 1-2 hours.

And when I am tired I just put on my grinder shoes, open couple (9-15)NL5 SH tables and grind for some moneyz and FPP's and have some fun ;o

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/ee2301c1f87e956a338ea523367ced62.png

I managed not to check my cashier at all today as the NL5 grind is so relaxing and its popped at $610.

If I keep this up and balance tilts at NL10 by the nitty NL5 grinds I should be able to taste NL25 in no time. (I will try with around $800, 4BI's will be a buffer zone that I expect to lose before I adjust)

Some standard hands to fill the white space ;o

level 3 thinking by angryfishes, April 21

so i read about this story the other day, of zhuge liang the great military strategist.

zhuge liangs army was out far away doing some stuff, while he was just chilling in the city of a recently conquered place with like 10 men. suddenly, he got news that the enemey general was approaching the city with his massive 999999 army. there was no way zhuge liangs army could come back in time. so zhuge liang immediately ordered everyone to disarm, start the city fires, and do normal people things, and leave the city gate wide open. of coz everyone was like WUT! he then decided it would be uber to sit on the city wall next to the gates, and start playing his flute.

so the general and his massive army approach the city. they see the city functioning as normal and everyone at ease, which is of coz super weird since they shld be all defensive knowing an army is coming. then they are like omg ship it and start walking thru the opened city gates. suddenly the general sees the uber zhuge liang playing his flute and recognises him. knowing of his fearsome repuation, he knew it couldnt be this easy and concluded....

Boston/New condo Pics by Jamie217, April 21

I dont feel like writing a whole lot but the Boston trip was sweet, we stayed in one the best hotels in town even though there were an unusually high amount of gay men around for some reason... hmmm

Met up with Nolan and Nutsinho, unfortunately didnt spend a whole lotta time drinking with them because we didnt have a ton of time oursleves going to both the Bruins and Red Sox games, which were both sweet. The Bruins game was insane the crowd was so into the game which is far different from the atmosphere in Toronto where there are far too many suits around.. And ofc chilling with Dzoo/Circa and Boddy is always a good time, couple awesome stories but we might have to keep this blog PG for now ahaha

Poker continues to be just ok this month I think im +10kish at mostly 3/6, hopefully have one more solid month of 3/6 and then back to 5/10 fulltime... the downpayment on my condo has taken a far chunk outta my networth but I should be alright... anyways pics and stuff

Selling WSOP action!!!! by thewh00sel, April 21

Selling $80k worth of action, here's the link detailing the Buy a Piece that i'm offering.

http://forum.parttimepoker.com/showthread.php?t=527816

if you're interested and not a member of that site PM me and tell me how many shares you want to reserve and then i'll reserve them for you until it sells out and then you send the funds to the person escrowing the money.

Essentially im selling all my action for the WSOP at $50 per share. You can have 50/50 cut with a chance to chase your losses in later tournaments that i play down the road, or you can get 63% of my action with no makeup.

It's been a while by curtinsea, April 21

It's been a while since my last blog post, so I thought it was time to share with the gang at LP.

My last blog was on June 1st, after winning what appears to have been the last Liquidpoker weekly tournament. I'm kinda bummed about that, as I looked forward to these Sunday meetings. But since so many LP'ers are now rockstars in the poker world, I guess they went by the wayside. It would be great to see them revived. The $10 buy-in event was right in my range, and the chance at playing against the up and coming superstars of the game, well that's priceless. Even more rewarding than winning the tournament was finishing second to Myth, who had a bounty on him and managed to keep it from being claimed. Seriously, I had him dominated AK to AQ, but he luckboxed a flush, and my impatience and inexperience at heads up play showed at the end. Then there was finishing second to NineOneOne after entering the final table with a 10 to 1 chip lead over him. Sick beat.

As a grown man with a day job, I don't play near the volume of hands that most of you play. Also, I prefer tournament play to cash games, so I play mostly SNG games, but nowhere near the number of games a lot of SNG grinders play. Last year I played in a bit over 1600 games with an average stake of $7 for a whopping profit of $45!! Amazing, but it was a great improvement over the $1600 I donked off the year before.

I feel my game has improved, but from "sucks ass" there is only one way it can go, right? I still suffer from many of the basic poker disfunctions . . . poor bankroll management, tilt, life tilt, impatience. I think my biggest weakness has been playing marginal hands out of position. Still working on thinking about each decision before I make it, and I think I'm getting better.

Circumstance has put me in a position to try to take poker a little more seriously, and I count on Liquidpoker for insight and tips to improve my game and it's profitability. Always open to suggestions and even criticism of my play, as it all helps the goal of improving. So feel free to comment on hands I post.

And let me finish with this. All you 20-something kids making heaps of dough playing online poker, enjoy it. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for the time you spend on the computer. Take advantage of this time in your life, because it won't last forever even if you want it to. But you have to balance it with living as well, go outside once in a while, get a tan, bang some girls, have a good time. At 22 you have no idea of the world, not like you will when you are 42. You don't want to look back and say "I wish I woulda . . . " So go through the doors that are being opened up by this game and enjoy. You have plenty of time to be responsible later in life.

Peace

LOST MY ROLL =( by unenergized, April 21

LSJDFLKSDFLSJDLFasdffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
i'm taking this one really bad. I just got back from Borgata and lost $1k this trip. This is my first time posting on this blog. Up until now i've been using blogspot and my site has been nycpokergrind.blogspot.com

So anyways, I'm really mad that I went broke again. I needed this money to help pay back my previous debt from friends that have put me in the game and have been waiting for their money. Some need it more than others and I had the money, it just pisses me off so much that now i'm back to 0. Basically this has been my last couple weeks. About 3 weeks ago or something I went to Borgata with my last $220. I borrowed $100 more on the way there and had $320. I played 1-2 and was down to my last $120 and decided to enter in the 7pm tourny. 91 players we got down to 7 and chopped 8 g's giving each person $1150.

Then i played 1-2 and 2-5 with the roll and got it up to 2k. The next week i left 1k at home since i was gonna give it to my friend who i owed $2900 and would've been huge to pay back. I went down to AC with the remaining $1k with my friend Mike who did the $1500+150 tourny and took down 7th place for $51g's. He goes by Hithenose. It was a sick accomplishment since he was shortstacked almost the entire tournament and that it was his biggest cash. Anyways i grinded out that week and towards the end of the week I was back to broke. I took a few beats at 2-5 when i rivered the nut flush and it made my opponent's straight flush, 3 clubs on the board. I moved down to 1-2 and flopped bottom set vs top 2, lost. Then I turned a straight and it made the guys boat and that finished me off.

So i was down to the $1k that i had left at home for my friend, he wanted all of it but i needed a roll for myself and so i gave him $600 leaving myself with $400. The next 3 sessions i played 1-2 and some 2-5 in nyc and won about $180 overall. I took the $580 and went back to AC and did another 7pm 100+20 mtt. This time there were 82 players and we got down to the last 7 and finally agreed to chop. I was down to 2 big blinds and made a comeback.

After that tourny i went back home and paid my mom $300 for the house and paid off $300 more for my credit card bill leaving myself with a roll of $1020.

The next day I went back to AC and packed my bags for a few days. My confidence had been regenerating after the terrible downswing i've been facing the last few months and finally i thought, i will turn all of this around.

So i get to Borgata 3 days ago, I did the 7pm 100+20 again but this time lost with KK to AJ all in preflop. Went straight to 2-5 after i got knocked out. I heard them call a 250+30 sng and decided to do it and left the cash game up a little. Everyone was playing so bad and we were down to 4 pretty fast. Chips got even and i suggested we chop up 500 a piece and play out for the remaining 400 and tip the dealer 100. We did that and when it got down to 2 me and the other guy chopped the 400 so total i cashed for 700. I got a room at Borgata and used my comps. My roll was at $1300.

The next morning i had a quick breakfast at bread+butter and went over to 2-5. I got in a nice rhythm going and finished up $350 after a couple hours. I was debating whether to go home or to keep playing. Something didn't feel right though and i felt like i was playing with scared money. I took a little break and then did something i've never done before. I went over to 5-10 and they were playing shorthanded. It was a must-move and i wanted to challenge myself. I sat down with 500, raises preflop were to 60-75 and i knew i had to choose my spots wisely. I dwindled down a little and then got moved to the main game. I was about even and then there was a limped pot. i had http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/4h.gif and flop came http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/4d.gif . Checked around to me and i bet out $40 into about 60ish. Sb makes it $150 and my immediate reaction was to go all-in for my remaning $350. Then i asked myself, do i really want to gamble in this spot. Even though it was an easy decision to shove i decided not to and folded and immediately regretted that.
I left a couple hands later down 150 and the went to a 100+20 sit n go. I busted out after having 4 big blinds and being card dead and went over to the Taj where i had a free room.

Now the next day (today) is when i lost everything. I had about $1280 this morning when i went over to Borgata. It was PACKED due to the 300+40 tourny. I should've woken up early for it but i missed it. I sat down at a 2-5 and was feeling extremely confident. It was a new game and all of a sudden the action got crazy. Every hand was a raise and multiway pots. A couple hands in i pick up http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/qs.gif in the cutoff and a player raised it up to $20. 2 callers behind me, i smooth called and we went 5 way to the flop which came A Q Q. Checked around to me, i check. Turn blank, checked around to original preflop raiser who bet $80. Folded around to me and i just smooth call, we're heads up. Turn blank he says all-in, i initially bought in for $300 total so i call and he has KQ and i double.

A couple hands later I pick up AK in the sb, limped pot i make it 40 to go and a loose asian kid calls. Flop comes like http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/7s.gif and i knew that hit him, i continuation bet for $60 and he called. Turn came http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/smilies/jd.gif and I paused for 10-15 seconds and then bet out $100 and he folded.
Next hand i pick up http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/ks.gif on the button, couple limpers and i know i have to raise big so i make it $50 to go. 3 callers and flop comes A J 6, rainbow. Checked around to me and i bet $125. UTG was an extreme maniac and shoved all-in for $460 total. I had to call and he flipped over JJ, i lose. I was down to a little less than $200 and then very next hand fucking AK again.
This time there was a raise to $30 and i just smooth called in the cutoff, we went 4-way to the flop which came A J T, 2 clubs. checked to the preflop raiser who bet out $100 i shoved for like $40 more he calls with QQ i win.

Then the action really died down. I was waiting to pick my spots and hadn't really gotten any hands so i was just chillin. In the mean time i had been studying the table and the maniac who had the JJ against my AK earlier was really going on a heater. He had climbed up to like $1700 in chips and was running over ppl, bluffing and re-bluffing and i knew I'd pick him off.

I limp UTG with J9d and there's a limped pot 5 way.
Flop comes http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/4s.gif and i bet out 15 when it got checked around to me. The maniac makes it $30 and i know he most likely has a flush draw and i decided to just smooth call and see how he plays it out. Turn http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/smilies/5c.gif i check and he bets out $40, again i still think my hand is best and decide to call and see what happens on the river. River http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/smilies/7s.gif I check and he thinks for 5 seconds and then bets $200. A HUGE over bet and i want to snap call. I think about it for like 10 seconds and then call, he says STRAIGHT and flips over http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/6h.gif

After this pot I was down to like $150 and decided to step down to 1-2.
I proceeded to lose 2 buy-ins of $200 there pretty quickly when the guy to my left flops a set on my 77 on a flop of 2 3 6. Then the same guy flops trips vs. my 88 on 4 4 7 and i pay him off again. Then finally i pick up http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/9c.gif in the sb and its a limped pot. Flop comes http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/5s.gif i check bb bets $5 button calls i make it $25, both players call. Turn is another 5 and i shove for my remaining 70ish since i put button on a combo draw, bb folds and button insta calls with A5, river blank.

I was pretty mad and took my last $120 to 2-5. First hand i'm in the BB with http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/3h.gif and its a limped pot like 7 way. flop comes http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/5h.gif and i quickly check, goes checked around to a guy that bets $30 and button calls, i shove for $110ish and after some deliberation i get called by the original better and the other guy folds. Turn http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/smilies/qh.gif river blank, guy shows http://www.pokerisrigged.com/images/s...kerisrigged.com/images/smilies/3s.gif for a flush.

It wasn't really the beats that got to me but I was more so disappointed in myself for not quitting for the day after the 2-5 session and instead continuing to play while somewhat steamed. I didn't realize the value of my remaining $600ish and to a poker player the money is everything. Without even one buy-in you are useless and now I'm in a very uncomfortable position where i must get myself back in the game.

NL50 to NL5, Worlds Gayest DS by Sliggy, April 21

So yeah, I officially dropped to NL5 today...

About 2 weeks ago I had a roll of 800 and was having a shot at NL50.

This has been the toughest 2 weeks ever for poker, I can't imagine it being any worse.

I've been set over set, coolered, sucked out on, and given no action for two weeks. It's been a fucking nightmare!

Nobody has had KK when I've had AA for two weeks, the past 18 times I've had KK somebody had AA 13 of those times. The other times they had AK and hit their ace.

A super maniac was shoving allin like every hand, I called with AKs and he had AA that particular time.

I've been set over set countless times.

Coolers / Suckouts are mandatory.

Absolutely card dead.

COME ON POKER GODS! TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF THE DOOMSWITCH BUTTON! I DESERVE A FUCKING BREAK!

It's torture being trapped at NL5 with all these donks knowing I'm better. WTF IS GOING ON!?!?

I really feel that this downswing is worse than anyone's experienced. It's been fucking hopeless for two weeks (about 20k hands). Not breakeven, losing shitloads!

fuck my life. poker's being a real bitch to me right now.

Thesis finished :) by PokerDoc88, April 21

After a week-long grueling marathon of writing, my thesis is finally finished. Technically it's my final draft, but I have little intention of going back and changing it unless my supervisor deems it absolutely neccesary.

I estimate I spent about 100 hours, give or take 10 hours, researching and writing this thesis. Another 100 hours spent on doing the lab work to collect the data, and about 150 extra hours again spent doing extraneous lab work for my supervisor which was not related to my personal work.

The gay thing is, to get my medicine degree this research year was necessary. For some reason, my university thinks it's a wise idea for all future doctors to do a year of research -.-. If we had wanted to do research, we'd have chosen BioMed and elected to do a PhD.

If you want to view my work, feel free to download it using the following link, although I don't expect any one to actually spend more than 5 minutes (or 1) reading it.

NL10 lol by LemOn[5thF], April 21

Ok so I moved to NL10 and started 4tabling as many of you were advising me.

The limit is so weird. Many PF nits that turn into massive stations once they are in a hand.

Not even that many people don't fold a bottom pair on AK board when I cbet, but a big percentage doesn't fold air on the most obvious dry boards with 1-2 high over cards.
Had 58% C/bet %, but I will lower it to around 50% (I am changing the standard to NOT to c/bet against unknown as opposed to NL5 and I have to have a read for c/betting, rather than against it now)

That would be ok, I am used to this with the $4 people from NL5. But NL10 its almost everyone, including many full stacks (who are huge nits and Trapping machines NL5)

I ran 28/26.5/4 with 12% 3Bet and 48% attempted to steal. (I had two 15VP/5 call PFR tables, completely oblivious to what I was doing lol)
I changed to 3BB+XBB.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/4b5d95d4de8e99b55528de97c3724d57.png

My strategy for the future: Keep exploiting the PF nits and bet super strong all made hands with only c/bets against people that are capable of folding on suitable boards.

To illustrate:

Limit Coaching by angryfishes, April 21

if any of you nl players would like to learn / give limit a shot, im your man for it

this will be for 6max only, and will be only for the limits .5/.10 up to the limits .50/1

what i offer:
-sweating sessions
-hand reviews
-optimal lines to use vs the "four main" player types
-stats review/leak finding
-starting hands to play by game type you're in- derived from countless hours at poker stove
-no seminar in vegas

anyway there will be two payment options to choose from:

1)the first would be a small hourly fee- obv micro players dont have much br to spare
2)"free" with some form of profit sharing or something which can be discussed.

these are my stats at the micros
first half of graph was when i was nl player b4 i switched to limit

i am especially confident in my teaching ability as i taught a good friend of mine (for free of coz lol) - from being totally clueless at poker turn a 20$ deposit at 0.02 / 0.04 into 400 and hes playing .5/1 now. also was a finance tutor at uni teaching classrooms of 20+ if thats relevant, so im used to finding the best ways to explain stuff.

any questions, ASK!
