Ok, i'm new here. I've been playing for the past two months. Have over 125k hands in. I'll just post my graphs. Honestly, the more i play the more frusturated i get. The one thing that really bothers me is my pots won w/o showdown. At about the 45,000th hand i moved up from 5-10 cent to 10-25 cent. I usually only play 5 tables at once b/c that's all my brain can handle. I've tried really hard to bring my pots won w/o showdown up. Everything i try seems to make it worse! One thing i've learned: People don't like to fold.
I swear when i run bad i run really bad. I'll win 10 days in a row and lose one day. The one day i lose i lose 200. While all the other days i might win 20, 40, 60, 50, ect. In the middle of April last month i was right on schedule up 500 half way through the month. Not bad at only 10-25 cent. I calculated at an hourly rate of about $7.50 i could make just over 1100 a month. I lost about 200 one day then 2 days later lost 100. I got frusturated and decided to take a few days break. Few days break turned into about a 2-3 week vacation. Now i'm back and it's like a stalemate. I win 100 one day. Lose 80 the next. Win 80 the next day lose 70 the next. Very frusturating. My hourly rate for 10-25 cent droped from about 7.50 to just a little over 3.50 It fluxuates between 3.5 and 4 dollars.
Between the dates of 2/25/09 to 4/14/09 I had 35 winning days and 9 losing days. Then since 4/15/09 the day i lost $223. At 10-25 cent that's pretty bad. Ever since that date 6 winning days and 9 losing days. So right now i'm not sure what to think. Though, 4 of the losing days out of the 9 i only played like 10-30 minutes those days. I played for about 10 minutes and lost 20 bucks right away and got pissed off and quit for the day. So, right now i'm trying to just put in the hours and let the stats speak for themself.
IS THE FUCKIN SHIT!!!! i just recently started playin BW (best game ever IMO). Since I've started playing, I can definately see how the transition from BW to poker makes a shit ton of sense. Quick question: Is there any way to find out what music gomtv plays in some of their vids??? (plz don't flame me for this lolz)
Quick edit: thank you CrownRoyal. I was first directed to gomtv through one of ur blogs. mad props
So yesterday night I had a heater session when I once again ran like Jesus on Steroids.
This morning I wake up, and guess what: DOOMSWITCH
Seriously, this was so sick. My sets were too low, King High flush is obviously only second best isn't it?
Second straight all over the place.
When I rased PF with JJ-KK and saw flop, I could be 95% sure that the overs simply WILL be there.
I lost about 18 All-ins against shorties, they just kept owning me.
And Of course, I have been rivered four times with 94% Equity, and couple times with 85%.
There were 10 minute spots where I didn't win a single pot.
And when I finally can hope I suck out someone for a change this happens:

So I got like Seriously Pissed. This is NL25, How the fuck can I be 10BI down when I am thinking about moving to NL50?
I was tilted, the cards were still not coming and when I finally went up some bb's I immediately got sucked out again.
But I didn't give up, and although my game was a lot less aggressive and I was inevitably starting to get paranoid I tried to pull myself together and think hard about all my actions despite the tilt.
But I wouldn't stop until I would be at least close to breakeven. What emerged was the longest poker day ever. Here is how it went:
This session really helped me to go through hard times after the heaters from last two weeks. Ignoring Stop Loss, I have proven to myself that I can beat these people tilted and without good cards coming.
I also got nice VPP injection and I already got 4250VPP From the 7500 I need this month to get the 80,000VPP and become supernova by the end of summer even if I will get a Full-time job and play less poker- Only 10K VPP to go if I manage the 7500 this month
The longest session of my career is dismissed, and from now on I would really prefer to RUN NORMAL, instead of the incredible heaters altered by Yellow's Syndrome, as this was really tiring.
this is stupid but im currently beating 200nl but have like zero idea how to play bvb, i think this shit has been eating a substantial part of my winrate really. please put ur thoughts on the matter and help a fellow lper out.
havent had a second session with d_zoo yet coz of scheduling problems but i hope to get one soon just so that i can ask him about bvb spots, funny coz i was playing one session and i get j10 off, villain opens button then i flat coz im on the bb, i peel flop since i have a 10, turn completes flush and i check , he checks, then river i make trips and check, he also checks and types "FOLD THAT PRE". i see who the guy is and it's d_zoo. lol
so far in the month im doing ok and seems like the breakeven stretch is over after 7k hands, been running quite decent and kinda inspired that someone who crushes these stakes is actually teaching me stuff, in effect i have super confidence when im playing 200nl FR, i dunno if im leaking hard but whatever, it's the thought that counts haha.
up like 1500 so far this month and it's sweet coz i really broke even first five days of may due to stupid extra sesssions. im really comfortable here at 200nl now so i actually made my goal materialize a couple of weeks early hope to keep getting solid coaching and running decent long enough to get to 20k before june, at the rate im going, im pretty confident i will too.
been feeling the grind since about a month ago when i decided i want to start taking poker seriously for summer as employment. not just for the money, but for the challenge. I'm not going to grab a shitty PT job for 3 months and quit it, and im not going to get any digital design work thsi summer either since every major design shop has had 3k+ resumes sent in.
To recap, i deposited 500,and i grinded it up to 2k by mid april. I went on vacation, and came back - and ever since then the last 3 weeks have been mental torture. Maybe it's the fact that i'm new to the whole serious grinding thing, but i've been in a proverbial "rut". Ive been bouncing between 1500$ - 2000$ for about 3 weeks, and my profits per day usually go like this
3 days in a row +50$ - +150~$ or so.
1 day after -250$
basically shit like that , it's super frustrating to have a string of "consistent" days, and then have it all blown away a day later. Re-checking HEM, i've noticed that alot of it was just running under expectation in ALL in pots, but i realized that was just 60-70% of my profits evaporating, the other 30% came in non all in pots where i can genuinely feel i am not playing optimally.
I've also noticed that when i lose, i ALWAYS lose 4+ BI's on those days. I have had maybe one losing day out of the 3 weeks where ive lost less than a buyin. i always lose at least 4 BI's - it's super creepy. I've noticed all those losing days also come when i haven't slept well that night or feel subconciously fatigued, but due to my "grinder" mentality i decide to play through it not making optimal decisions.
Basically i'm looking for any advice from FR grinders NL50 and up. Is stuff like this typical for you? This month i've played about 25k hand so far and I'm running about 8-9 BI's below expectation, which isn't getting me down mind you. I'm just wondering if maybe i'm approaching grinding hands the wrong way. what mindset do you guys use on nasty long breakeven stretches? how do you get over them? thanks tonnes anyone
Okay today just became stupid. I get sit out, i cant place bets. The game freezes from time to time. Already sent a mail to support but am i the only one getting this? Its some kind of packet loss or something.
Currently rebuilding... going very good I'm in 14+ table robot mode on NL5 and if I continue doing this a few days I should have a semi solid roll for NL25 again. Hope I can run good 1 time there then. Also when my friend gives me back my money I will deposit that on my poker acc, even though I have a strict rule of never depositing my own money and I never did it in my entire life so far, but I gave him the money on PS and thats why I can cash it in again as soon as I receive it.
Won't cashout a shit during the next few months either.
Listening to Asher Roth's recent album, and I gotta say, I am impressed. Pretty under-rated. It has got some real nice tunes on there. After busting out of a live tourney near the bubble a couple weeks ago, I heard a tune of the album on a late night radio show as I drove home. Not had internet access for 6 weeks, and I am now online today, I have been able to get myself a copy of the album.
I know there are some Kid Cudi fans on these forums, and well, check Asher Roth's album out (thread title).
Ugh I was tilting so ridiculously easily yesterday and I spewed and I dunno wtf I sux. My emotional control is all out of whack, maybe I'm on my man-period.
Seriously though I've been really impatient the last couple of days at the table and have been getting tilty/whiney and that isn't how I like to do things. Gotta stop that crapz
I've felt like I've been running really bad this month and everyday has been an incredible struggle to break even or turn a profit, maybe that's just built up on me and whatever. I dunno. I just know I can't allow myself to spew blah!
Finished 2 / 4 exams so far, and iv been rather dissapointed by my own performance. Been studying a lot, stopping all my usual partying, gym and other random activity's. Spent up to 10 hours at school everyday, just reading and doing tasks. But still when the exams have come up, iv performed really lousy.
First one was an oral exam, and i just drew some really bad topics. And whenever i actually hit some spots i could talk about, it seemed like the teacher was more interested in something else. An example was routing, were i was gonna fire up some talk about Dijkstra algorithm (just bear with me, if you got no clue what i am talking about) and he just went like: "Oh, i am sure you already know Dijkstra, can't you tell me something more about "insert topic here".
Next one was a written exam for Signal treatment, and id been killing the practice tasks all day long. Finishing up old exams and stuff fairly well. Like the 08 exam, the two first tasks was for 70% of the total score and i could do it perfectly. Leaving me for a minimum of a decent C. But with the exam we got, i was messing around even at the first task. It was the same kind of tasks, but all the numbers and equations were a lot harder. And without a calculator (no help allowed) it was a mess right of the bat, and it kinda shock my confidence. No grades for awhile, but i am pretty sure that didn't go to well either.
Only one week left now, and two more exams. Got one on Tuesday and another on Thursday. Hopefully ill manage to do better inn these, like having a good draw on the last one for another oral presentation. After this i plan on finally going out and drinking some again with my friends, been skipping a few good party's lately. Last weekend was my birthday, and i spent the entire Saturday inside studying for my exams!
Other than that, seems like i won't be getting my normal job this summer. Seeing as they don't need anyone extra this year, maybe just a couple of weeks to rotate vacations around among some of the guys. I am planing on getting my ass started on some poker again, and ill be trying to play 1000 SnG's asap after i am done with school. Hopefully ill be able to manage a 5% ROI on the games i play (20$ SnG's) and make around 2k (RB included) real fast so i can boost up my roll again and play some different games. Wanna be able to play 50 and 100NL 6-max / HU and also 20-50$ SnG's.
Don't think i am gonna put a time frame on myself for this, seeing as iv got some catching up to do with party's and friends. Plus iv got a girl i really enjoy spending time with now day's. But i figure i should be able to do it in a month, 33 SnG's per day. Probably nothing to most grinders around here, but iv got issues with sitting on the computer to much. It bores me to death.... With this amount, i should be able to keep up, even if i go away or can't play a couple of day's during a month which eventually is gonna happen.
I also wanna go visit Kalle again this summer, as i had a lot of fun with him last time. He said i should come for a week or something to Bergen, and we could grind out some hands and also enjoy summer. So that's something ill definitively do even though i am pretty broke right now.
Well gonna finish up this wall of text now, get myself in the shower and wait for my visitor! We are gonna make some lasagna, and just enjoy the weekend.
