| | Day 4 - I am +EV by edzwoo, May 31
I ran pretty well today. My first session was nearly +5bi, and I felt that I played well. Definitely can't say the same for my second session, though. I ended that session down about 2bi, making about 3 bad calldowns.
The important thing though is that I actually had a winning session, though. And a pretty nice one at that!

| | When you can't win by RICHI8, May 30
What do you do when you know you can't win? No matter what you do. That is what today has been like and the previous three days. Every time I rebuild. It beats me right back down. I have over 80k hands now between FL and NL and I'm a loser by a couple hundred dollars.
I just don't get it. Anyone else in this world who runs like me would have quit long ago but I don't. Is this a mistake? Do I run bad or am I just bad?
EDIT: I just officially quit poker and cashed out the remainder of my roll which was $783. My roll was $1600 5 days ago. Here's a life time graph of my hands from HEM:

| | May Results (8.5k) by PanoRaMa, May 30
v-v-v-variance fest
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/may09final.png
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/may09stats.png
I ran good at 2/4 but got absolutely destroyed elsewhere, resulting in a mediocre 2ptbb winrate for the month of May. Not bad though, a week ago I was questioning as to whether or not I'd even profit on the month (that and where the FUCK my red line was going)..
+6k Cash Game
+~500 Donkaments
+2k Rakeback
= 8.5k on the month.
Taking the last couple days off, except for the Turbo Takedown (gonna win me a Cayman). I found out I have some cavities too, they don't hurt but I can see them, ugh. Haven't been to the dentist in like 6 years, no one ever told me I was supposed to keep going back for checkups, wtf mate?
So we're a month away from the half point mark of the year. The extent of 2009 has been what I'd considered myself an actual full time professional (although god knows I don't put in the hours of a true full time pro), after deciding to take an extended break from school. I have to say I'm satsified with how it's been going so far. I wanted to make 150k this year and I'm behind pace on that, but I'm up around 55-60k on the year already which is the amount I made in 2008. I feel like I can still hit 150k seeing as how at the beginning of the year I was playing mostly 1/2, and now I'm playing anything between 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10. I played 10/20 this month which was awesome as I was able to luckbox a stack, lolol. Additionally, I feel like my overall growth as a player just keeps making HUGE leaps and bounds each month I play and devote myself to the game. I think it's one thing to be able to play this game well, but it's another to be able to inherently understand the game and its psychological factors well. Mastery of both is probably the recipe to high stakes success.
Some interesting hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/693802 - 4bet pot deep, two streets call down with bottom pair
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/696062 - Just a cute Q-hi hero call, not a big pot or anything though
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/697094 - 10/20 hand, always nice to 3bet bluff oop and flop the nizzles and cooler a reg
My June goals will pretty much be the same as my May goals. At least 40k hands and at least 5 digit income. I'd like to take this time to give a shout out to Bttech86/Ben86/Ben Tollerene whom I mentioned I was backing for his extensive WSOP schedule, as he's beginning that schedule now (today is Day 1 of WSOP series). I have 7.5% of him, so I hope he binks!
GL guys.

| | April+May update by Critterer, May 30
Had lots of work for uni these two months as such not much time for poker.
Finsihed my 10k dissertation looking at existence of pollution havens and also had 6 exams which i think went okay i guess... will see soon!
As for poker 40k hands total, which isnt bad considering how little i play usually anyway.
Results were meh, great start then level out for aaaaaaaaages then start winning again, altho im down marginally in tournaments too over this period.
Also got my 3k vpp to get the UK player 70k VPP bonus, which takes me up to 85k vpp lolz
Summary:

Goals for June?
See how the £200 i've cashed out for MLB sports betting works out. Goal is either +-breakeven haha
play at the very LEAST 30k hands. really hope to play more. Need to get a lot of VPP to push towards supernova.
BR is currently at like $2k so my goal is to pad this and at least take some shots at nl100 in the month.

| | My First Muay Thai Fight by TremendousGats, May 30
I fought for my gyms 2nd Inhouse fight last night, it went pretty well in my opinion. All day i felt really confident like the fight was going to easy breezy , but when i got to the gym and started talking to people they would ask me who i was fighting, i would tell them "ken" (i've only sparred him once a few weeks ago)and they would put a look on there face like he was going to destroy me. Not only does he have 20 lbs on me (im 140, hes 160) i've trained maybe 6 times for the month of May + smoking weed and daily drinking. A combination of all those things made me really start to worry 15 mins before the fight and i got butterflies.
Anyway long story short, i came out in the 1st round and rocked him hard, the head master and owner told me to chill out, and they wouldnt let us fight round 3 because i guess they were scared of a KO?? (i guess they didnt want a bad image because 200 ppl where there watching and the inhouse fights are mainly designed to raise membership in the gym) so i pretty much chilled out and danced around him. But my boys where there and i wanted to put on a show for them , so 2nd round i put a nice sweep in, if i cant knock him out, might as well embarrass him.

I intended to move my roll to Prima, but I couldn't get a deal set up so I moved $10k to iPoker leaving another $10k on neteller to move to Prima at a later date. Anyway so far iPoker has been going pretty poorly, the games are not that bad if you can find 50bb or Full Stack tables, but I've been running so far below expectation due to a continuation of bad luck. Before moving to iPoker when I was attempting to make my stats pretty by playing 50c/$1 on Stars I ended up running about 30 buyins below expectation in the last 10k hands or so, and this trend has continued with me running almost 10 buyins below expectation in 2k hands at iPoker. To make things even worse I've had aces dealt to me _ONE_ time in almost 2k hands, and I'm -$1.3k with KK over this sample. At least at $3/$6 I've been playing more focused and tilt free than when I was messing around at 50c/$1 on Stars so that's a good start despite the results.

d.Apollo, who shall be referred to as Shaun from now on arrived here a couple of days ago, we've been wasting away the majority of the day just nerding it out in my room playing some poker, watching some videos etc. Later in the day the plan has been to get some drinks in and play some UFC Undisputed on the xbox for a laugh, it's kinda fun with friends and drinks. We also watched the Champions League Final where I won $10 from him on a bet, ship it!. We went out last couple of nights and met up with a couple of my friends. Nothing amazing happened I guess, though Shaun did do some strange antics on the way back home, for instance randomly doing pushups in the middle of the road, getting his cock stung by nettles and somehow ordering a hot n' spicy pizza with like 4 full chilis on them. The guy put 2 on and asked "you want more?", but he was some Indian guy and Shaun didn't understand so he just said yeah sure mate without knowing what he said, he was almost dying after he ate half the pizza and I had to help him out with it -_-. I did end up falling out with a couple of my friends last night, dunno if they were acting that way cause Shaun is here and they wanna make fun of me or show off in front of him or what but I got pretty tilted and walked out on them. I dunno I guess it sucks when your friends all have 0 money and they constantly try to make you feel guilty about having any success and suggest that it's the only reason anybody likes me etc, even though they have known me way before I played poker so they prob. aren't being serious, but still they do it so often that it just got to me this time.
Shaun had been talking about some event that he was saving/planning for in his blog and I learnt what that was the other day - he's coming back to Korea with me when I leave on June 7th. It surprised me a little, and although I did have a slight suspicion that his saving up had something to do with his visit to see me, I didn't guess it would be this. Anyway I'm pretty happy about it, will give me more shit to do when I'm back in Korea, which is one of the worst things about living in Korea for me at the moment. Another friend from home, Tom, is also gonna be coming to Korea in June also, as an English teacher so I'll have 2 more people to hang out with.
I feel this Summer is going to be a pretty important one for me in terms of life direction, in Korea I don't have that many friends, and those I do have are not gonna be lifelong friends. I mean I may stay in contact with them but everyone, myself included, is moving around a lot so I'm not gonna be able to see them much regardless. I leave Korea in December and after then I'm gonna come back to England and immediately start searching for somewhere to move, my "friends" are all gonna be outside of Mansfield, but I'm not sure if that bothers me the more and more I think about my friends anyway. I do need to settle down somewhere though and get a better set of friends, right now I really wanna just get a place with some poker players, preferably Ket and others since he's a far better friend than my "closer" friends anyway and it'll prob be way more fun to hang out with poker players than hang out with my broke real life friends who do nothing but try and make me feel bad for having money.
Meh, rant makes it sound like I'm feeling way worse than I am. It's good that Shaun is here, and that he's coming to Korea with me, and I'm also happy with how I'm playing poker lately even if I haven't been playing that many hands in the last week or so. I guess I just needed to reflect some considering I fell out with my friends and the upcoming life changes in the next half year or so. Anyway, that's all for now.

| | Meh, but YEAH !! by Gawuss, May 30
Ok, let's start with meh. Poker gods were not good for me this month. I had managed to get even after my 1st little downswing but then I lost like 5k euros in 3 days and I'm down $6,2k for the month. Well, it's really doable to win it back and I'll do my best to win twice as much in June - the month, in which I'm going to pwn everyone !!!!! I started reading The Poker Mindset, I'm gonna rewatch lessons with Dzoo once again, on Tuesday I'm getting a gym membership and my aim is to visit it at least twice a week.
Now, what's up with YEAH ?!
Obv the part with the gym and starting to get things together again is included in it but 2 things, that I'm super excited about are coming: my b-day party and EMOP with Dusty and others in Barcelona
So when it comes to the party, I and one of my best friends are throwing it together in a club. It's like a super sweet 18 party but with two hosts We invited over 300 ppl and I'm so looking forward to it - it's tomorrow !!!! I'll definitely post some pics if only is anyone sober enough to take them lol. EMOP in Barcelona starts in the end of July and it'll be my first live tournament I've legally taken part in It's bound this trip will be awesome ! Not only are we planning on playing the ME (which is 1050 euros) but also we're gonna do the bungee-jumping and skydiving Hopefully we'll pull all of this off :D
EDIT: DAMMIT, I forgot to mention new shoes I finally ordered - I couldn't find my size, but my patience paid off and I got them.

Ok I think that's it for now.
Take care everyone and good luck at the tables

| | I'm excited :O by SpeedyJack, May 30
Well, I decided it was time. I moved most of my roll to FullTilt and received the $600 bonus, time to grind it out I suppose. I also signed up for rakeback through TL . All of this has got me very excited to work on honing my game.
I only played 4,000 hands over the past week, but I was feeling good enough (and running good enough ) that I felt comfortable moving up to NL10. I started off on NL2 playing way too tight (think 12/11), but I gradually regained stats very similar to the ones I had last winter when I played. Currently over those 4,000 hands I'm at 15/13/4, ignoring my NL2 hands, because I moved up to NL5 after about 1,000 hands, I'm 18/14.5/4 and over the last couple of days I'm at about 21/17/3.5, we'll see if those number stick, I guess only time will tell. I'm pretty aggressive and have a decent opening range (maybe average for 6-max), although I'm not afraid to grab my passive hat and let some of the maniacs bet into me for a street or two before reraising.
Here's the graph for the last week (i.e. all of my hands since I started playing again)
+ Show Spoiler +
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/1766/jack234.png
I suppose those numbers aren't to be expected, but I didn't feel like I was above expectation. Most of my sessions (about an hour long each 4 tabling) ended up with me taking down two or three big pots, losing between zero and two big pots, and then having quite a few 20-30BB pots won with a similar amount of 10-15BB pots lost (generally folded but occasionally checked down).
Now it's on to bigger and better things! Hopefully I can continue my fun at FullTilt. Like I said, I signed up for it just this morning and played a couple of hands. I took a while to set it up and get the preferences how I thought I would like them but after playing for about 15 minutes I realize they still need tweaking. I made the mistake of trying to 4 table right off the bat, I figured I should reproduce what I'm used to, but it proved a bit hectic trying to keep up with all the things to do with a format I'm not used to. I'm going to 1-table later until I feel comfortable then I'll 2-table, then perhaps I'll feel ready to go to 4 tonight or tomorrow.
I ran pretty nicely in my little 15 minute mini-session, I completed with K10s and proceeded to flop 10 10 2, and as luck had it there was a flush draw on the board. I can't remember if I tried to slow play or lead out, the action was three handed at this point. By the time the turn came it was only me and one other fellow in the pot which was now a nice size, the turn was a complete brick at least as far as I was concerned (might have been a Q or something) and then I lead out 3/4 pot, got called, and the river came down perfectly, pairing the 2 and completing the flush if anyone had it. Knowing that there was a good chance the flush just hit (or possibly even an underboat) I lead out pretty strong (maybe .8/.9 the pot) and got instareraised, after thinking for a second (not that it took any thought) I shoved and got snapcalled by a Jh3h that hit his flush on the river.
I think I had plans to write about more things on this blog, but I think I wrote quite a bit already and I can't really remember what any of the things were.
Get money, crush fishes boys.
