I've realized that while the first 2 episodes were confusing, they weren't as weird, crazy and confusing as I thought they were. It was definitely too hard to comprehend cause I was high. It's funny rewatching these episodes cause I see stuff that was intense before and I realize how it isn't intense at all, haha.

Day 6 6.6.09

Today first I played one satellite tournament, but I didn’t succeed because in freezout part I was completely card dead. Then I watched some videos and read some articles again. I watched one video about HM on CR and then I decided to improve my HUD. I download some update and then my HUD completely crushed and I can’t run it again. I reinstall HM three or four times but HUD still wasn’t working. I didn’t know where mistake was but I completely reinstall it one more time and before it I had erased all data from folder and after installation I created new database and it has started working. This shit took me about two and half hour. Then I have finally tuned up my HUD.
I checked out my new HUD set up in 353 hands session. I finished again BE because in the beginning of session I had full stack bad beat against one crazy guy and rest of session I tried to win it back.
First days are not like how I wanted to be but I hope that it will break down and I start winning again. I want to play more but I still have some exams and I have to pass them first. I’m looking forward when exams will be over and I should play all day.

Total result so far: 1348 hands, -$86.31

Daily updates are bit too tough for me, so I guess I'll update when I feel like it.

A few things I'm currently working on:
Calling as opposed to 3betting and vice versa.
How people perceive my image, specifically in 3bet pots.
Not spewing in certain call-downs.

Also, playing considerably looser gives you killer swings. I never had many sessions above or below 3bi when playing 15/11. The whole point in playing looser is to push small edges, so if the stacks don't fly, something's probably wrong. I'm definitely far from making perfect decisions though, and my main goal is to consistently play my A-game. I definitely played REALLY bad during two sessions in the last weak, and I opted to cut some tables after talking a bit with rockman. I'm also trying my best to table select, because it's probably the single biggest thing to affect your winrate, even more so than playing good poker.

Hello,
i'm trying HU cashgame at the moment, it's a pretty crazy game actually
I'm totally new at hu, just played a lot of micro HU SNG one year ago.
I've a stoxpoker account and trying to learn all i can but i have no real experience.
I usually play nl50 6max.

Yesterday was my first day off in 3 weeks so I decided to get a bit high for the first time in ages. Was watching Con Air and while it starts off well, it sure gets ridiculous in the end and I never realized HOW ridiculous till watching it last night.

Anyway, after that I was like "OH YEAH I HAVE SEASON 5 OF LOST DOWNLOADED! TIME TO START WATCHING THAT!"

SPOILERS BELOW

Now, I am not sure if it's cause I was high or if the first 2 episodes of the season were insanely confusing / kind of stupid, but I had no idea wtf was going on. I mean, I've seen every episode of LOST and even played the stupid game, but I was still totally baffled. I also was thinking "Man they've gone so intense on this time travel shit that it's not the same anymore, I miss the 'lord of the flies' type of days when they first crashed on the island. I dunno if I like this show anymore".

But I powered through and watched till episode 6. By then I was really into it again. I'm not sure if it's cause it got less confusing, was a cooler story, and overall just made more sense, or if the reason I liked it more was cause I was less high. Basically every episode I watched I liked more than the previous one. So was the show getting progressively better or was I just getting more sober?

I have no idea. I'm curious to hear what other people thought about the first 6 episodes of season 5, and PLEASE don't risk any spoilers, just overall impressions =)

I'm actually gonna go rewatch episode 1 as soon as I finish this post, so that should settle it. I hope.

is just wake up the next day and do our best. Quitting isn't an option, and bitching isn't going to miraculously make things better. The cards are out of our control, although we can control how we play. All we can do is play our best and hope for the best.

so no more hardcore bitching from me, I swear that yesterday's outbreak is a once a year thing Thanks for all the comments. Ultimately what matters isn't money but rather happiness (money is only part of that process for many of us). This game isn't gonna break me imo.

I got given 25$ to play on hotshot poker by RTR. A site belonging to cake network, so i've been testing the network out...

Does anyone know how to turn off that annoying clapping sound whenever you win a hand? Under options there are only 2 options under sound which i can change and that is "DirectSound" and "Standard". Neither which stops that annoying clapping. Its very annoying when you multitable and must hear that stupid sound everytime you win something >_>. Help?

My wife is in the hospital because she lost the... well I don't exactly know how to put this... but she lost all strength in her lower extremeties... She can feel her legs, like if you just barely brush against her skin, and she can move her feet (from ankles to toes)... however she can't put any weight on her legs and she cannot walk at all. She's a math teacher @ the local high school (where i graduated from) and after she got out of school she went to the DMV to get a new license with her new name on it, anyway she collapsed and could not get up for several minutes... When she did manage to get up, she some how managed to drive to our house where she collapsed again in the driveway, again for a few minutes. She came in the house and she was crying... My initial thoughts were "fuck she had a bad day at school again" (she teaches "alternative" students, the ones who come from way fucked up homes and are abused, use drugs etc etc). Then she told me about the collapsing and feeling absolutely weak all around... Okay, given she has had mono 3-4 times in her life (yes epstein bar tests have proven this)... Anyway we took her to the emergency room (obviously) and the ER staff gave her a small dose of morphine because of a headache she had, then she was later transferred to a better hospital about 60 miles away... She met with a neurologist and was MRI'ed for TWO HOURS, head to toe. the tests showed no signs of brain tumors, or any other sign of tumors etc. Anyway she has been on diet pills for a long long long time and the 2nd neurologist that we met with came in and told the family to leave and proceded to call her a drug addict and told her that she was faking and needed to 'fess up. He looked at her tox screening and saw that she tested postive for amphetamines and opiates (diet pills + morphine @ previous hospital), so i guess he just automatically assumed she was looking for drugs... even though she turned down another morphine shot in place of Extra Strength Tylenol @ the new hospital ( SURE SOUNDS LIKE DRUG SEEKING BEHAVIOR TO ME.... U?!?! ).

Anyways, the most information that we have received was from the physical therapist who said "things like this happen a lot around here"... and the only thing that the neurologist recommended was "you should take physical therapy"... Okay physical therapy is great... but NORMALLLY you take physical therapy AFTER you find out what is wrong with you... right? I mean come onnnnnnnnnnn!!!

Thanks for reading, hopefully this will pass... but then again what if it recurs? I dunno.. I dont post many places, but I just needed to get this off my chest... Especially since we were supposed to go to vegas in 2 weeks for the summer and have nothing but a great time... I hope that you all pray (even if you don't pray [include me in that sub-group]) that she will get better and never have this happen to her again...

alright. rebuilding today. making a new video. still running ~12 BI under expectation, but winning 10 BI today was pretty good.

fcking being down 5 BI after 5 hours of play was so discouraging...

well the name of the blog couldn't fit me any more. i spent the past month getting from 100 --->700 only to tilt it all away.

but it feels different this time. i'm a better player (hopefully) thanks to all the good advice that is thrown around across these forums.

anyway i'm pretty much starting this blog to pretty much keep track of my knowledge and to refigure out everything in this game of poker. i plan on really dissecting all aspects/decisions. soooo hopefully some of you will help me out.


after tilting alot of my money away, i started to think, what it takes to become a good poker player and i think its rather simple:
1) discipline
2) patience
3) knowledge

i think it takes discipline to save your last 15 bb when you know you never have the best hand, to stop yourself from tilting money, to resist the urge to call bets and use "implied odds" as a cop out.

i think it takes patience and understanding that you can not make money over night. i need to remove this feeling of entitlement, just because i'm a better player than my opponents doesn't mean i deserve to win. they pay the same price to play the game, they are allowed to do w/e with their money. i need to be patient and let the money come to me, instead of chasing after the money.

lastly i think it takes knowledge. a 2 part knowledge of the game. 1 is being able to piece the puzzle, and properly hand read. making proper value bets and proper decisions during the hand while playing poker. i think the second type of knowledge happens away from the poker table, reading more indepth analysis that may include math based analysis, to 1st person accounts/memoirs. for instance me and my friend used to argue about esp. in brunson's super system, he talked about rushes and esp. i'm a pretty math based kinda guy so i kinda scoffed at the idea of esp/rushes saying it's just variance. my friend countered with "so you don't take the word of a guy whose played poker his entire life?" i still think it's a load of bull shit, but their might be a speckle of corn in that bull shit. maybe positive thinking/rush makes you play better and it just carries over into out playing opponents with no cards, and then picking up good cards and getting paid. anyway kinda went off topic a little bit. so there. my 3 tenants to winning this game.

Why do i have to run bad every time i play NL100??? I've been trying to jump up from NL50 to NL100 for like 6months and every time i do, i run into a wall of shit. I'm beating NL50 for about 4.5ptbb over more than 100k hands....

I can't win any coin-flips and it feels like I get outdrawn every turn or river in big pots. My AK never hits the board. If I have KK and somebody calls me there's an A on the board or a c/f. AA never gets any action. 4 last times that I've had a flush a 4th flush-card comes on the river. I've made one call-down that i'm not satisfied with during this time, and it was retarded. I leveled myself into calling after running like shit. JJ on a 345K6-board, villain had flopped a set. Everyone makes mistakes once in a while, but this hand was an unnecessary loss, no reason behind the call. Sort of the retarded "omg i run so bad, look!"-kind of call.

This was the last big hand I lost last session and it will represent all the others

I honestly didn't think that the run bad of 2008 I had to endure for so god damn long would come back, but as my luck would have it, it did.

It's honestly just sick the frequencies with which other regs can always fucking have it. Even more disgusting is how many times I can cooler the fuck out of myself for deep stacks. I'm going fucking nuts because of this game, god damnit man. This is exactly how May started, down 6k+ with no fucking hope. Now I have to spend the next 2 weeks trying to dig myself out of this stupid hole. This isn't how it should be man. This game is going to make me blow my brains out.

I guess I won't be playing much 3/6 or 5/10 anymore, even though the bulk of my losses is at 2/4 with some additional help at 5/10. I just need to regain my confidence and good swings back, if I'm going to lose every single fucking day like I have so far this month, it might as well be at one fucking two or something.

Day 5: 5.6.09

Today I decided to play some satellites and short session on NL50. I played four satellites on CakePoker and I have won one ticket to $100+9 50k GTD weekly freezout and in another one I finished on bubble position and have won some money but not much. In the session I played 224 hands with stats 17/12 and finished break even. I again lost aces two times and it seems that win with aces on Betfair must be miracle. First time it was all-in preflop against shortstack and he had K8s and second time it was against Q4s (probably any two suited cards has about 90% chance to beat aces on betfair).
About theory I have read some articles today and tomorrow I want to continue and also finish watching Brysmar’s 5part SSNL video series.
