September so far by deahttubb, September 09

After messing around with stats last month I am on my way to getting the stats I like while still being able to actually play and not focus on making it happen.

I ended up cruising through NL 5 once I figured out how I wanted to play. So now I have started to play NL 10. I am still trying to see what works in NL 10.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/a862b.stats.png

My position stats have also improved since this new game plan.

I have seen the term squeeze used often and I understand it to be raising in order to get a third person to get into the pot. Is this close to what is means. Can anybody help clarify this term?

Thanks and goodluck.

Full Tilt vs Poker Stars by superfashion, September 08

So I was playing Full Tilt, but they suspended my account claiming that I'm under 18 (I'm 19). I decided that instead of sending in all my shit, I'd just switch to Poker Stars.

The problem is that PokerStars is COMPLETELY FUCKING UNPLAYABLE. I have no idea how anyone can take this piece of shit program over Full Tilt; you have to click everything like 5 goddamn times for it to even register and it's costing me hands all over the fucking place.

BAM wide awake at 6:00 by piratematerial, September 08

Barely slept the two night before this one. Maybe 2-4 hours eacht night, with the WCOOP going on i put in a lot of hours. I decided i wasn't going to play any poker today and drink and have fun and maybe hit the sack early. So today i setup a nice BBQ five friends on the courtyard that our house is adjacent too. Got a nice piece of beef and threw it on there and it turned out really well. Chickenwings and sausages and some fish packages also worked well. We had lots of wine and beer.

My cousin and her boyfriend decided to get their boat. it's a small motorboat, but it can fit 6 people though its kind of cosy. We took a few bottles of wine and the remaining sixpack and toured the canals by night. Even though i still want to move back to Amsterdam in the next few months, i have to admit it was really beautifull. This is what it looks like, only trees are looking way better now cause they still have all their leaves since it's summer.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2200/1968969057_21441920ab.jpg?v=0

when we reached a plaza with lots of bars we got a table on the plaza. the night was really warm and we had a lot more beers there. at about 3:00 we returned home and i was ready to sleep like a baby.

6:00 BAM it's fucking six o'clock now. i'm wide awake. i'm too hot to sleep and just to awake. there is no use lying in my bed thinking i want to sleep

sometimes i think it's poker messing with my sleep schedule. even though i'ts going well i have a hard time sleeping. perhaps it's the adrenaline from playing mostly Headsup poker.. i really have no idea. Wonder if any of you feel like poker messes with your body's biological clock.

recap of the WCOOP so far. i played in the $105 2nd chance 6max event, the $105 NLHE event, the 215$ Limit event and the $500 2 day event. My best result was in the 2nd chance where i got like 177th. Didn't cash in any of the others. Which is a little dissapointing. I was especially looking forward to playing in the $500 event. At first it went really well within one hour i tripled my stack to 30k.
Then i fell back a little with a small failed bluff and some standard pots i didn't win. Overall i was really active. Attacking the weak spots on the table a lot and 3betting and squeezing quite some. My 3bet stat was at 15% and we played several hundred hands by now. The exact hand before this one i succesfully squeezed another time. When this hand came up:

villain was 15/8 and i didn't tangle too much with him. As he usually wasn't in the pot. I felt really gross about this spot because it was with this guy. In my opinion all other factor's; my image, the positions and recent history say fistpump get it in except that it was with exactly this guy at the table. this hand keeps haunting me. Should i have laid it down to his 4bet? Why do i pay off a fucking predictable nit? Tell me what you think of this hand :s Maybe it will give me some peace.

Thnx for reading.

Anyone play HU SNG's? by TremendousGats, September 08

Do you guys play these? Do you find them profitable? Hows the variance? How many buyins do we typically want for HU SNG's?
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Fraternity... by Kilay, September 08

So, to keep this short because I don't feel like typing a huge ass post. I am wondering who here joined a fraternity in their past or are still in one and think it is/was a great addition to their college time. I also like to hear opinions from people that purposively didn't join one while considering it.

I am currently considering hardcore to join one but I am not sure as to what to do and tonight it my last chance to sign up. I made a list of pros and cons and all that jazz but in the end I can't make the decision. Now something tells me that if I didn't do it already, I shouldn't do it because I don't love the idea enough but at the same time it keeps on bothering and I keep on thinking about it so that's got to be a sign as well.

Opinion:

Doomswitch? by DustySwedeDude, September 08

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e3298.skitgrej.jpg

I guess I should probably do something else for a while. Still up a decent bit in 10/20 for the month but 5/10 has been fucking with me a lot. I think I'll go back to only play in really good 10/20 games until after Unibet Open and concentrate on other things instead just to ensue that I don't manage to get a mid-month 40k downswings for the 2nd month in a row. I handled the last one fairly well but I don't know if I'd like to take it once again without a longer break in between.

Been too focused on poker for a while anyway, so it might be healthy. I guess I'll like play mid stakes omaha and mix it up with HS hold'em if fish games starts higher. Whatever, need to change now since Asian girl from last post has managed to convince me to spend time with her. To be honest I'm fairly interested in how I'll handle her considering my mood from some kind of intellectual stand point. After all it's problably the first time I'll spend a night with some girl within 24 hours from going from +20k to -5k.

Ohh well, every time I move up to high stakes I seem to win a bunch of money, cash out like 30k or so and then go on a downswing and move down. This is obviously not optimal, but it's income and for each try I seem to get better and better (as evident in that fewer people seems willing to play me). And after all, gotta learn omaha some time, right? In short; happiness rating still surprisingly high. I'd say at least like 6.8. Still got the same goal for the month too; end it in green.

Let's end it with a song I kinda can identify a bit with:

Good labor day weekend by Night2o1, September 08

Thundza and 3 of his friends from college came into town on Saturday for one of their's birthdays ^^ Hit up Sapphire & Hawaiin Tropic on Saturday night, and Xs Sunday night, with some hanging out inbetween & today. Had a ton of fun and looking to get a couple of pics up later in the week.

Poker is going OK so far this month. I would of liked to get more hands in this weekend but its alright. Going to have a guest next weekend so I won't be able to play much then, either.. so I'm going to try and get like 2k hands or more if I'm feeling good for the next 3 days or so and hope to run good lol.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/58e10.sept 8.jpg
+ ~$200 over 500 hands or so. Winrate isn't quite where I want it but 8k hands is pretty insignificant (and also fewer than I'd of liked to play by now, but I hardly played at all this weekend, oh well).

Thinking about playing on the cake network for a little bit to clear a deposit bonus & for the rakerace (lol 4tabling a rakerace, whatever).

Oh yeah, pretty sick today we were dicking around at a roulette table and I decided that black was the best color.. I hit 11 blacks in a row LOL. But I am a fish and I kept taking the money off, so I only profited like $175 or something haha.

Profitability of HUSNGs? by Elite00, September 08

Hey LP, I was just wondering if anyone could comment on the profitability of these HUSNGs, and whether or not they would be good for an nl10/25 player to get into. I have been messing around at the $5 level and they seem to be full of bad players, but the variance seems so high and it is much harder to play multiple tables. I was wondering if down the line if these could be just as, if not more, profitable than the same level of 6max cash.

-Thanks
