Sorry to bump everyone's blogs, but just like to keep track of goals, and apparently I am failing hardcore at blogging. Due to this, just going to set a goal to make 3k before the new year. Will probably fail, but it's good motivation anyway to set a lofty goal. Wish me luck LP!
took me a min to get back into the cash swing again started out the week playing some nl25 to get the swing of it and rebuild some on my roll cause im a nit haha. Will prob play a couple more days at nl25 and move back to nl50 and hope to stay there for awhile til i at least make 30 buy in and can say over a good sample size i can beat nl50 before moving up to become a nl100 reg but dont think it will take me long to grind my way up there with everyone else
after the shitty november I've played about 13-14k hands and am down about 22-23 buyins in december which brings the total to about -14k at 2/4 - 3/6 nlhe and -9k at 2/4 plo since november 15th
definitely not playing my best but also running insanely bad which led to the tilt and bad play
I know its no use whining/complaining about this all I can do is try to play my best at all times and not tiltspew away buyins which is a disaster while you're running bad and in a big/long downswing but its definitely easier said than done
hopefully I can play better/stop spewing and then even if I lose I can't feel too bad
To run bad when the tables are full of fish. You make good moves and get screwed by variance, but still feel good cause there's lots of fish and u made a good move. You make more good moves and get beaten down even more and start tilting, but don't want to leave cause there's so many fucking fish!
Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Running like shit and made a spewy move that I wouldn't have normally so I'm quitting despite having some of the juiciest tables. Garh.
So apparently studying really helps a shit ton and the poker gods treat you well when you do it. New record cash day 8 buy ins. This gets me a little into the green for the month so it's all profit from here on out GOGOGO
24 tablers are so annoyingby Stim_Abuser, December 04
kes1981 is 24 tabbling and is literally time banking almost every single decision while there is a massive fish 150bb deep at our table. im talking about every single action of his even if its like just folding utg or w/e
just wanna reach through the monitor and stab him.
Yes, it's every bit as bad as it looks - got straight up demolished by some guy HU I was up a quick 4 buyins on him, coolering the hell out of him left and right.
Then it turns out I'm pretty shit at deep PLO and not all that great at dealing with 30% 3bet either. Guy played very well (in my opinion) and I might have to practice avoidance vs him in the future. Went from +800$ vs him to -140$ (+12.80$ on the session, ship the cheeseburgers). http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/3f0f0.bulldozered.jpg
Now, that was fun. I knew I'd be playing a little bad now (I tend to play bad when up a lot) but I'm never gonna quit someone whom I've won 4 buyins off in like 50 hands. He deserves at least a couple of hours IMO (even though I could tell he wasn't a bad player).
LOTS more 25 bb pots lost, his redline is basically a copy of Isildur's I think I played pretty well at 100bb and maybe even 150bb, but at 200+ I just got really, really, really raped. I sort of stopped 3betting because I didn't feel comfortable 3betting marginal hands deep, but then I just ended up check/folding or leading too much and I feel like I didn't really get much momentum playing this way.
I also should have 4bet A LOT wider (I actually 4bet folded a KK** hand once when really deep which I immediately realized what a terrible mistake that was, no idea what I was thinking, we were literally like 300bb deep), which is something I did a little bit of in the beginning when still reasonably shallow and at the end (IIRC) once shallow again.
So I think I'm gonna try to work in a lot more 3bets, I think it was difficult to play against. And, as above, work on incorporating more hands into my 4betting range instead of just calling.
There was a live 100nl game happening at a friends house last night, villain and myself are 150 bb effective, villain utg raises 4,button calls, I'm in the bb make it 16 total with AcKs, villain/button call(pot 48$) going to the flop.
Reads on villain: massive fish, bets strong with garbage,air,draws...he is stoned. Button: no reads, new player, seems like a station.
Flop 10c 4d 2d
Now I don't like that I checked in retrospect but wtv...I check, villain bets 39 and button folds.
I timebank 2 mins or so and based on a lot of info he was giving away with hand gestures, posture etc...I shove for 95 or 100 more I don't remember.
Villain snap calls and for an instant I think I'm fucked...if not for his next words: "I have nothing..."
Villain turns over KcJd...for a king high call with an immediate explanation that he put me on nothing since my pf raise...way to polarize hand ranges.
Turn Qs
River 9h
Mmmm yeah...CHIPS.
live poker + small online heaterby tutz_x, December 04
Hi guys!
This month I'm on vacation from work so I'm spending it at my parents city.
My set up is screwd up here... I thought wasnt gonna need to bring my 24's thinking I could just use my dad's 32' TV to play but seems that the TV does not support high resolutions, what sucks a lot. Given this I decided to grind a lot live poker R$ 5/10 (yeah its a lot higher than I usually play online) cause the games are sooooo soft and nobody gives a damn about monies they just wanna have fun playing cards. Online I'm playing almost nothing, putting something like 500 hands a day. To play in a 15' notebook screen sucks hard, to play 6 tables tops sucks 2x more. Whatever, I guees I'm making up for lack of online play by grinding live everyday from 20pm to 6am, but I'm probably not learning much.
basically I like playing HU and have made a nice profit but i dont like to play extended sessions. so im wondering what you guys think. Is it ok if say after 300-500 hands and ur up say 2-3 bis just to say fk it and run?
After feeling like absolute trash last night I tore through HEM and looked over a bunch of things for about 2 hours and watched a video. I noticed I was being too aggressive OOP in 3-bet pots and playing too loosely from the blinds, the typical mistakes someone moves up makes. I've tightened up my preflop strategy and am even using a hand chart just to double check things while I'm playing and taking time to think about spots more. Major thanks to my poker friends on AIM and MSN (namely joe and pano) for dealing with my non stop bitching.
Basically, this guy is running CUcharitablegames.com which is scheduled to launch mid-end of January. For those of you that don't know, the legal age to play poker at a charity casino is 18+, NOT the usual 21... and a college campus is a pretty big ocean.
I was teaching at a poker club meeting and he popped in at the very end. After everyone left, he basically talked about how he liked the work I've done and wanted to work with me. This happened just yesterday, and a lot of random things ensued like going to a bar and watching the tournament instructor on the club staff hook up with some Asian girl... because of Terrence LOL. I just met this guy and he's literally stopping girls and hooking them up with people from the poker club staff. But basically, this can actually be a career opportunity for me, which is obviously really amusing.
Also, Taylor Caby just gave the green light on shipping some chip sets for the poker club's "underground" NL10 and NL50 live games, which I'm obviously really thankful for.
I was just thinking about my poker life, which is actually in fact my life right now. Here's a quick summary:
-Played Starcraft with friends, wanted to be better than everyone else and found TeamLiquid
-Played random $1 SNGs with friends regularly, which eventually led to making play money accounts on Stars
-Free $5 from Stars
-Through TeamLiquid, read articles on LiquidPoker
-Grind that up to become a midstakes reg
-Currently out of school and playing poker and selling stuff on eBay (not doing that as much anymore); always have 6+ months of living expenses in reserve
-Start poker club
-Get offered a job and meet awesome people because of the club
-Currently loving my life
I think we can safely say Starcraft is an amazing game.
have been a good experience so far, feels like im playin really well, running well, winning some moneyz and so on. dunno if its me playing better, stars regs sucking or if im just running like sick hot? dunno maybe a mix
since its christmas month and all i wont be playing to much. + moving to a new appartment january 1st so we are gonna clean up and shit here in our appartment (living with 4 friends, sad breakup ) and be done with the appartment before christmas is the plan. move out all the stuff and such, so last 2 weeks i wont play any poker prolly.
