Over the past 3 years LP has really helped me become a profitable MTT player and I was thinking about starting to coach and stake a few people. The specifics of the deal may still need some adjustments but here is what I'm thinking as of now:
I would be willing to take on 2-3 students for MTT's up to $3 rebuys and $10 freezeouts.
I will supply all tournament buy ins.
I will review hand histories and sweat my students nightly.
I will keep 60% of profits. (50% for standard staking agreement and 10% for coaching services.)
Possibility to move up stakes with success at current levels.
Student Requirements:
Be able to play atleast 30 MTT's a week.
Play on FTP as of right now.(I'm sorting out things with stars right now, should be up and running on there in a week or so.)
Be able to play between 6:00pm EST and 3:00am EST on weekdays. (3-4 days a week preferably)
Be able to play for most of the day on Sundays.
Be a winning player with an ABI of atleast $5.
Already be an active student of poker who wants to improve their game.
PM me or reply to this post if you guys are interested. Heres my opr. Make sure you tell me your FTP and Stars account names in your PM/Reply.
Ridiculous Night... can't take it anymoreby basementkid, February 27
I just played for about 4 hours and lost 14 buyins at 10 hu sng. I was up about 4 buyins and then went on a crazy downswing. I have been playing poker for a while now and have been grinding the 5 and 10 dollar sngs on ps and playing rush poker on full tilt and making a decent hourly rate. I had to shut down pokerstars because i felt a massive tilt coming.
Over the course of 14 or so heads up games i got it in with the best hand at least two times in a match and never won. It was the worst set of sucks out i have ever seen. Anyone have some advice on how to go on or if there were some better plays in some of the situations?
For a $600 roll on ps this was a huge hit. Guess these arn't considered "buyins" like cash games but still taking a 140 swing sucks

There are a few more. For some reason they don't show up on the HH, maybe i need to look back farther. I get one guy to stack off with jacks against my kings and spikes a jack on the flop. Another is where the guy open shoves 76o against my 3 bet AK and flops the gin straight.

played the wynn $500 today and was chipleader at dinner break, went and played some 5/10 for the break bc i wasnt hungry, lost 1900 there (KK < 33 all in PF)...then came back and lost K9 to shorty's T8-> JJ to AQo on J high flop -> 55 to super shorty's JJ -> 88 to AKo -> and finally KTs to A7s to bust.
The only one of those hands that may have been a marginal spot was the 88 to AK where I had 82k and opened to 7500 at 1500/3000 and player shoved for 32k more. If I fold in this spot I still have 75k and a very workable stack as opposed to 45k or so if i lose and I have to start shipping; and 75k actually means something in this turbo-ish tourney with 40min levels. I guess I just decided that with 120k I could really reship on a ton of the light openers that were at my table, and I still like my decision, just wish I would've won the race. Oh well, better luck next time.
My current KD is 1.00 lol because I share my account with my lil sister and she plays a lot with her guy friends (xbox).
Msg me your xbox live sn if you want to get scrape some fools.
Right now I'm trying to max out my sniper 50.Barret Socal w/ fmj class so I'll be that snipe support. Also using Sleight of hand, stopping power, commando, pain killer.
The Canadians really made that game far too close for comfort. In complete control for 50 minutes and then just simply not enough of a response when the Slovaks made their push. That being said they got the win. Really got the feeling as the game went on with Canada getting so many good chances that if they didn't bury the 4th or 5th goal it might come back to haunt them. A soft goal to get the Slovak comeback started and they really just turned it up. Canada tried to hang on instead of pushing back and almost regretted the mistake. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of that on Sunday.
Full marks to the Slovaks. Excellent speed, incredible defensive stick position all game long, and incredible defensive tenacity combined with blinding speed counter-attacks. They truly were all the Canadians could handle and then some. Ironically I would say Slovakia and the USA are very similar. Lots of speed a couple of very skilled guys sprinkled throughout the lineup plus a strong amount of speed and grit. One of the biggest similarities I notice between the two teams is the insanely active sticks in terms of getting in the passing lanes and second efforts. Really good job by the Slovaks and Americans of taking away the ice. Canada will have to be hard and fast on the puck in order to prevent giving up turnovers and losing battles the way they did in the last 10 minutes vs. the Slovaks.
The Americans haven't really been tested by a good team on their game since playing Canada. Hopefully the hard road will benefit the Canadians and we'll play our best game of the tournament when it counts the most. You know the Americans are going to be highly motivated with Salt Lake in the back of their minds. It's gonna be a dandy!
EDIT: WHINE DELETED! WHINE NOT ALLOWED UNLESS I'M STUCK A TON FOR THE MONTH.
Need help. Anyone want to figure out how I get this done:
"To change your COM port open device manager, and expand "Ports".
Open the properties for COM-1, select the "port settings" tab and click on the "advanced" button.
Change the port to COM2 in the pull-down box, click ok, and click OK again to close the properties."
There's no damn "Ports"-tab in my device manager. Wtf?
Don't have money on FTP right now but I can probably get couple of dollars there kind fast to send as a reward and/or help out with some poker stuff or whatever if someone figures this out. I WANT TO PLAY SETTLERS 2! VISTA IS GAY!
edit again: fixed it. Now how do I get dos-stuff to work in full screen?
Goals for Mars:
60k hands (got a birthday, an exam and some other stuff so I can't grind that much).
20k profit before I move back up to 5/10+
Work out 16 times (4 times/week)
Not getting drunk to much.
Pass exams.
I live in NY right outside the city and we have gotten roughly 2 feet of snow over the past 48 hours. Its been nuts. The good part is instead of working one day from home this week as I usually do, I have worked the last 3 days from home. The bad part is that my interet is fukin retarded. It works fine and its still very fast, with one exception, it goes out for about 30 seconds - every 20 minutes. Obviously this is the perfect scenario to drive a poker player nuts but no1 else really cares. I have refused to play the past few days since I kno that if I get disconnected in the middle of a big hand I will tilt like no other. And that is very likely to happen when I am 12 tabling. It sucks because I just started on Pokerstars mid month, and I was hoping to grind out platinum star in 2 weeks. I have like 2k VPP's left and unless this shit gets fixed soon Im not gonna make it. Not to mention I have been running decent recently and was hoping to keep that going. I called the internet company and they are not even taking calls since their call volume is so high from the snow. I guess it could be worse since theres hundreds of thousands around here without power all together. I cant even play COD on Xbox live cuz of this damn shit. ROAR.
So basically im stuck inside tonight and my gf who is an accountant in the middle of busy season (shes audit not tax) is working all night tonight then saturday and maybe even sunday. This after she has already worked 70 hours this week. SO no woman, no xbox and no poker, WHATEVER WILL I DO. guess I'll drink some beers and watch the olympics, not such a bad plan B huh?
so as you know i'm in vancouver and watching all these hockey games.
i went to the US vs CAN womens hockey gold medal game. it was a great time, until the end. there was almost a weird fight in the stands because some drunk canadian retard brought in some fake silver medals and started trying to put them on USA fans necks from behind. however, the fight was inter-canadian as some older Canadian guys took huge issue with the problems he was stirring. things got kind of elevated when a few canadian fans rushed the boards behind the US players during the silver presentation and put up some "Hockey is Canada's Game" signs behind them. I thought this was a bit tacky as well, and a little disappointing to see, but I'm sure alcohol was a factor and there's always going to be a few goons in any crowd. I might be on a youtube video because someone was filming it, I'll have to check it out.
Other than that, it was a great game (as far as womens "sports" can go), and the gold medal game environment was sick. Canada's women played an excellent 60 minutes and their goalie was a real warrior in the crease. The US Women seemed to have a clear speed edge, but the Canadians had way more grit and tact in how they controlled the game.
Vancouver has been a top notch host city imo, and is probably one of the best cities I've had the pleasure of visiting. It's a very easy walking city with excellent scenery. The public transport here is pretty impressive as well. I've been surprised at how few foreign visitors appear to be here. There is a ton of people from Scandinavian countries and Russia, but that's about it. The American turnout is very very low particularly considering we're hardly 50km from USA. I think it's fair to say that the amount of Americans present is = to Europeans if not slightly outdone. It is possible some people are more afraid to wear USA gear and "represent" as it is no longer trendy to be proud of being an American in the global scene these days.
As of right now, the USA is guaranteed to play in the Gold Medal game, with home advantage. This is a good thing for us, even though it will surely only be a home advantage with regard to line changes. I'm pretty torn with regard to Canada tonight. I kind of want them to lose because it'll be humorous, but at the same time I'm sure it will effectively kill the vibe in the city. I don't feel any need for USA to "prove" themselves in the gold medal game because we already beat Canada once and in USA the champion is crowned due to the rules of the tournament, not some delusional theories about best of 7's, what if's, and whose goalie is "Hot."
That being said, it is likely we'll have a North American showdown, and I doubt anyone in North America can feel bad about that. I expect teh gold medal game to be a battle regardless, and will be surprised if there is a blowout in any of the possible matchups. I was glad to see the US Coach resting our players fairly early in the Finland game, and I think it was a great statement game for the US and played out basically perfect with regard to building steam heading into the most important hockey game in US history since the Miracle. It's also pretty neat that both our men and women played in a Gold Medal game, I'm quite proud and happy for them.
Time to watch teh Canada/Slovak game, I expect big things. Very exciting time moving forward.
Team USA has sent a message stunning the Fins in a semi-final game they currently lead 6-0. Most people including myself felt this game would probably be a tight low scoring affair based on the Fins goaltender and defensive prowess but it's proved to be anything but. The fins haven't showed up very well but full marks to the Americans for simply overpowering them with speed, size, and skill. Miller has once again looked exceptional as he has all tournament long. He continues to prove he's the best in the world at his position.
If Canada beats Slovakia tonight I expect the Gold medal game to be a toss up 50/50 vs. the USA.
One distinct advantage the Americans will have is that they played 4/5 games at noon and Canada has played all of its games at 4:30PM. Routine can be big for these players and the Gold medal game will be played at noon which could really throw the Canadians off. Canada's depth is better but the Americans have more than enough pop to get the job done. Should be a great close game between both teams where anyone can win.
Also I'd like to say that team USA has made a statement in this tournament. They've got a lot of skill, size, and speed in their young forwards. These kids are really coming into their own. Most of all they've showed they have quite a bit more heart than the Russians or the Swedes who clearly have more skill. Team USA's desire to win at all costs is starting to rival that of the Canadians. Hopefully we'll have a lot of great games for years to come. I for one am hoping for a best of seven super-series during a summer at some point.
I still feel the Canadians are the stronger team overall but the goaltender position counts for everything in these one-game playoffs situation and there is no question that Miller has been a step above everyone at these Olympics. It's going to be a toss up but holy crap is it ever going to be exciting to watch!
whats the deal about leatherass?by longple, February 26
ive heard for along time now all around shit about leatherass that hes like this fish bumhunter hit and runner
i guess i just havent played long enough or something, or posted long enough on 2+2 to know what the deal is
i havent seen any of his videos but he seem to crush the games up to 25/50 and grind a ton according to his PTR on both FTP and PS, so how can he be a bumhunter if he is like 10 tabling 5/10 and 10/20?*

You know they say it takes insanity or downs syndrome or some shit to do the same thing twice and expect different results.
I caught myself last night doing the same dumb shit I always do that costs me money. So I adjusted. I tried something different, to get different results. YAY IM NOT WETARDED! Tonight was night 2 of "pummel the fish with real hands" night. Since I dont know how to make graphs of live play I'll do my best to photoshop one.
This is roughly 4 hours of play, at an estimated 40 hands per hour dealt. I let myself slip twice unfortunately. I tried to bluff a donk off my missed draw and use table talk to assist, which resulted in him calling me with ace high. Props to him. And I got sloppy during my last 30 minutes knowing I was out the door, and started repopping and showing a few mercy calls with like 86o OOP and shit just to hit a flop and get some last minute action. Didnt work. I curse myself for degen'ing for even a second. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. These guys can beg me to stay as long as they want, I wont let their bullshit friendly comments try to bait me into gambling with them.
Taking weekend off with the wife, monday is next. I almost have a legit roll for live NL200 play now. All from 3 BI's. Knew I could fuckin do it.
