Some life stuff (who cares here? really)by whamm!, August 12
Starting to run bad on the physique side, gaining so much weight daily it's come to a point where my jeans dont fit anymore, which in effect i am left with trackpants(lol) for casual wear. Tried going to gym to inquire but theyre full of metrosexual guys/real fags/milfs and very young women - no demographic for middle aged online poker pros haha. So i decided that tomorrow I'll buy a motorized treadmill and Im pretty sure that because it is kinda expensive, I will make use of it being here for sure. tried downloading that p90x thing on torrents and it quit at 97% lol.
lastly, my aunt is into food processing in manila and she supplies hotels with their own iced tea, all kinds of sausages and other food stuff, she called me up and asked if i was interested to supply here where i live so at least it's something to look forward to. ill go to manila and look into the mushroom business as well coz a friend of mine whos doing very well invited me over.
hmm i think someone is trying to hack my msn, i was playing today and suddenly someone types "good looking honest man" lol
i thought it was some guy from lp and i asked who he was on lp and says shes stepahnie and she found my msn thru a random msn directory then my internet got cut all of a sudden, i used my usb prepaid internet thing and emailed stars. dunno about credit card tho. sux
Good Deal on IPhone 3, should I snap it?by exalted, August 11
Hey Smartphoners,
Been thinking about upgrading to a smartphone for a while. Friend can help directly buy an unlocked iphone 3 from the factory for 250$ - should I snap this deal? Would have to wait a month or two in order to be able to buy the iphone 4, and is it that much better than the 3 anyway?
Also have been contemplating HTC, but the best model they have here is the Desire, and that's 545 dollars.
Comeback - time to rebuildby SpasticInk, August 11
Hey LP!
I've been a member on Liquidpoker since the beginning without making too much noise - but now it's time to introduce myself a bit. Started to play back in 2005 as a hobby, and it ended up being my source of income while studying at the university. I've had a modest success, nothing fancy but enough to pay the bills. I used to play nl100 and nl200 mostly, and started to take shots at nl400 at the beginning of January 2010. Previous to that, I had some good months, and made some good progress playing wise and money wise.
This is the last database I have since my computer crashed and I lost my 4 year old database (sucks!), and the graph represents October to the end of January.
Here is where things turned around. Not about poker, but in life. I got a scholarship to study a semester in Shanghai, and I had trouble resisting that. Being unable to play in Shanghai (crappy internet, VPN etc.) I haven't played for 6 months as we speak. Got a lot of poker abstinense right now. The only problem is that I pretty much wasted all my money (including my online BR). Not something I regret, I had a great time, but now it's time to take poker a bit more seriously.
I just deposited 650€, jumping right at nl50 (NLH 6-max). Going to play at an ipoker-skin (had to get a new one since VC kicked me out a couple of months ago). Anyway, the reason I created this blog was primarily to keep some track of my current progress, and hopefully get some feedback from members here. I'm gonna take aggressive shots now, trying to reclimb the ladder.
NL100 at 2000€, NL200 at 5000€, and then we'll see what happens (hopefully this will go somewhat smoothly). I'm planning to record some videos when I've got the grind going.
Anyone know any good sites that recommend certain brands/type of components over others? Also can anyone calculate a rough total cost for an excellent gaming comp with the latest quad processor/ w optimum video card, plenty of RAM, and fast CD/DVD drive that can burn and lightscribe? (also the other parts like, fan, casing, motherboard, powersupply, etc.)
Or can someone tell me straight it if it is actually cost effective to buy seperate parts and put them together instead of buying a comp from a company like Hp online?
Will be giving a free session to a member of the community in the near future. If you are interested (you can play any stake) post here w/ a little reason why you think you deserve it (or PM, but perferably post, keep it breif plz). Also for those who wanttto pay for coaching, keep your money and join the waiting list I'm not interested. This is mostly for my own personal benefit / karma points
On vacation in florida not playing much poker, decided to play the 3.3 rebuy while drunk, took 4th for 2.3k. NIIIICEEEE. Can check off my yearly goal to get a tourny score over 1k.
This is one reason I have no desire to ever own a gun (unless it's the apocalypse or zombies have taken over, then load me up plz). I feel the chances of me or someone I love dying skyrocket the second a I have a gun in the house to "protect myself" with.
NDIANAPOLIS — A 4-year-old Indianapolis boy picked up a gun left lying on a kitchen table and fired a shot that killed the 3-year-old daughter of his father's girlfriend, police said Friday.
After finding the gun, the boy pointed the loaded .45-caliber handgun at Aunesti Lee Allen's head before firing, Lt. Jeff Duhamell of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
Police said the girl's mother, Fiona C. Lee, 26, was home at the time of the shooting Thursday. She was arrested on charges of child neglect and drug charges after officers found cocaine and marijuana in the home. She was being held Friday at the Marion County Jail.
coaching/ Stu Ungar picby piratematerial, August 10
I pm'ed the three winners (top 3 posts) of the free coaching. I see there were quite some people interested which is cool. I will see how this works out and update you about it and maybe i can do something for those who missed out
ps
Does anyone know a source for a good resolution high quality picture of Stu Ungar? Preferrably more then one. It should be possible to print it at a decent size without losing too much quality.
So yeah I logged into Steam yesterday and apparently this game Alien Swarm is available for free. It's about two gigs and pretty good. Kind of like left for dead with Starcraft sized units. Plays online with four players working as a team to survive and tackle each level the same way as in Left 4 Dead.
Getting a bit more disciplined; I had the first two sets of twenty-four $15+1 turbo STT's in by noon. I tend to have trouble motivating myself to get going. I used making Gold Star as my motivation, needed to earn 707 VPP to get there today. Two more sets after lunch; in all four of these I lost a bit, and was down ~$180 with 96 games played. In the fifth set, I rebounded and made ~$220, and one last set of twenty-four netted me $50 more, bringing my Stars BR to $1319 as I reached Gold for August. Some of the losing sessions were loaded with regs, but I think I also took more than my share of bad beats in those, so I think I don't yet have an indicator that I need to table select. One or two really bad players at the table more than makes up for three or four grinders. Also, I think quite a few of the grinders at this level have some serious leaks.
Playing notes: I am thinking I need to tighten my shoving ranges with M=4 in certain (non-bubble) situations. Also, occasionally fold on the bubble where a shove with ATC is normally indicated, particularly in the SB versus a reg. Sometimes doing this with the bottom of my range. I think that, for some of them, if they see me fold at times there, then they do not call as wide when I do push.
I think I've improved my bubble play as second stack, in particular being more alert to situations where there is little upside to open shoving.
Bubble situations where one stack is very large and the hero has the second largest stack can be odd and require delicate handling. Play is primarily determined by how loose the chip leader is. There are times when I bubble these, and think, if only I had been looser/tighter/more aggressive/more passive/trappier/more straightforward, I could have cashed, but I try to just evaluate objectively and only adjust my strategy if I can detect a real recurring pattern.
Gotta make a long drive to run an essential errand. Haven't learned "Teleport: Anaheim" yet. Fuck the 5 freeway. Fuck it with something sharp. I think I'll take a detour and avoid it.
I'm in a really good mood. Been playing good lately and feeling like getting a few students. To try it out i'm giving away 3 hours of free coaching. To three different people. First three that respond on this blog have it. In return i'm asking you to fill out a survey about the coaching so i can get a good idea whether to start offering some coaching to lowstakes players.
this could be interesting to you if you play 50nl(possibly 100nl for a different perspective) or below, my specialty is HU but lately i have been playing a lot of 6max.
There was this German kid at one of my tables playing 91/3(stats after finished session 115 hands). I lost early into the session 2BI to him, playing bad since he was at that moment kind of unknown. I decided that I will play ball with him, trying to isolate him as much as possible. BINGO, crushed his soul in a 400bbplus hand, shame I wasnt deeper, it would probably gone into the middle no matter what.
Going down to NL2 again to try and fix my current obvious flaws, going up to 5NL again when I feel more comfortable with my game.
* Spewing way too much in marginal situations
* Sometimes I try to force villain out of the pot way too much with air or weak hand
* Not slowing down the hand when I dont have a strong hand post flop and I also have a hard time giving up hands that I know are beat (Lets see what he had!!"
* PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE I am letting myself go way to much because of the aggression with 6max. I know I can beat my current level.
I also watched Rounders yesterday and the intro striked me that I need to fucking get my shit together or go busto.
"You play for a living, it's like any other job. You don't gamble, you grind it out. Your goal is to win one big bet an hour. That's it. Get your money in when you have the best of it, protect it when you don't. Don't give anything away. "
And now the hands!
