Cant play online anymore by NewbSaibot, August 27

So weird. Lately I can barely muster up the spirit to log into any poker site. My stomach turns in knots, my heartbeat starts racing, i start gnawing on my finger nails. The whole thing is just one big miserable experience. It's not the result of any particularly bad sessions or bad beats or anything either, it's just the whole faceless aspect of it all. I just get personally offended when someone calls me with K8o or 92s and all I can see is this faceless icon + screename. I feel like theyre hiding from me or something. I dont know how to describe it, it just bothers me. When I play live I take all sorts of bad beats and it doesnt bother me that much at all for some reason. Maybe it's just because I'm already in a good mood from the social atmosphere, maybe it's because I'm usually enjoying a free meal + drinks on the house. I enjoy talking to people, listening to people joke around and be funny bastards with their table talk, etc etc. All I know is when I go to play live I go feeling pumped. When I sit at a microstakes table online I just feel miserable. Maybe it has something to do with the money or something. It's not that I'm underrolled or anything, but I think it's just rather a lack of meaningful results. It's a real chore to play for an hour to win 80 cents or 2 bucks or whatever. Poker already sucks the life out of me, both live and online. I'm feverishly focused on every hand, to the point of wearing myself out when I get home. I think this extreme stress with no real results just runs its toll on me. At least live I can book a few hundred dollars in a winning session and get that sense of accomplishment. Online it's just another "uhhhhhhg gaaaawwwwd back to the grind, and for what? Pennies? Christ". I feel like how a McDonald's employee probably feels, just "please kill me now" kind of feeling.

Think I'm gonna hang up online play for awhile. I wonder if this has anything to do with why so many online regs have become live regs in the end.

Selling 2 mill play money on PS for $20 by moxie, August 27

Hey, just wondering if anyone wanted to do a standard trade with play money and real money. I'm a reliable person, I can get a few other forum users on this website to verify my creditability if needed. Also LegendaryDreams from TL.net.

PM or reply in the thread if you're interested. Thanks in advance.

Weight loss prop bet [HELPPPP] by Svenman87, August 27

Heyoooooo long time no talk LP

Been busy with working while starting a new business - computer repair (gonna take down the geek squad one city at a time! rawr~~~~)

also I've been working on my music you need to hear section so that should be up in a day or two when I get the time for some better reviews of the music.

Anyways onto the weight loss prop bet.

I'm currently 6'0'' 225 lbs (god knows wtf % body fat, but I'm sure it's not a healthy amount)

My brother is 5'11'' 190 lbs (more fit than I am but still not where he wants to be in terms of % body fat.)

The challenge for me getting down to 160 in 6 months
The challenge for my brother is to get down to 10% body fat from where ever he currently is at in 6 months

Starting
--------
Sept. 1st

How it works
------------
Every month we put $200 bucks each into a slush fund
at the end of the 6 months there is a potential of up to $2400.00 for the winner.

However we break it down so it works like this
actual/goal = %

so lets say I lose 50lbs
so we have 50/60 = 83%
my brother on the other hand hits his 10% bf goal so he is at 100%
the difference is now 17%

therefore he gets his original $1200 back plus $204.00(17% of 1200) of my money.

I feel like I may have gotten the short end of the stick here but either way it will be a great motivational tool to get our asses back in shape.

extra incentive: every time we get drunk we add 100$ to the slush fund, however the drunk incentive is only a winner take all(no getting % back). So if we get drunk 6x that's an additional 1,200.00 up for grabs whoever comes out victorious.

Where you come in!
------------------
I've never really 'eaten clean' in my entire life. I was always in sports in high school so I stayed relatively in shape without much effort.

Now I'm out of school and don't really do much. I recently got a gym membership for this competition though so I'll be putting this to good use.

Anyways any tips or pointers in losing fat/weight would be much appreciated. I'll probably start a blog later as well and update it weekly with progress. Maybe even post pics and hopefully see a beastly transformation

Anyways I'm off to get fucking plastered before I can't drink any more for 6 months :3 Haven't really drank much over these past two months but shi... got to go out and get down before this life change.

Sleeping by DustySwedeDude, August 27

I have a few general guidelines for how to live my life. I mostly make them up as I go, but if I've managed to find one I like I mostly keep to it. My latest is; “If you get superowned in grappling by some girl half your size, you should probably take whatever advice she gives”. Well I got superowned this morning, by a girl half my size (not really but still...) and afterwards she referred to me as “you're the guy who doesn't sleep, right?”. And yes, it was the girl from the most embarassing story I've ever posted...

Then she told me the following:

Sleeping is important, you should sleep 6-8 hours each night and it should be in one part not spaced out over a few quickies. It's also nice to sleep during the night rather then the day cause the brain likes to send out melatonin when it's dark and apparently that stuff kicks ass and does a lot of good shit for you.

I read up a little bit about it on wiki and apparently your levels of that crap might be lower if you have some kind of autism, which I may or may not have some light version of. I also feel that I should probably not try to get out of this by buying pills on the internet. First of all I don't like to mess with my brain to much (I get weird when I try fun stuff) and I try to be a blood donor which means that I'll have to state what kind of supplements and such I take every 3 months or so and it's really hard to remember stuff.

September feels like a good month to get on a regular sleeping pattern. I've got to much stuff to do with school, social stuff and other things to actually be able to put in any reasonable amount of hands anyway and it would be good to actually get decent grades on something during my time in law school. Thus I've decided that for September I will not play poker or otherwise be at the computer after 1am in the mornings except if I'm deep in some Sunday tournament or satellite which probably won't happen to often.

Last time I actually slept well was during June, but my sleeping schedule was fairly fucked up anyway. I basically woke up around 5pm, did some stuff during the evening/early afternoon, then I played poker until something like 4am and then I either went to BJJ at 6 in the morning or went to the gym/took a long walk only to get back to bed sometime around 8ish. I remember being annoyed with the sun and such but didn't think that it was such a problem. Come to think if it I didn't really feel that rested either, I don't think. Not to mention the horrors of actually trying to put the day right when I visited my parents and such.

So basically, instead of setting a bunch of goals concering how much I should play, how much I should work out or anything like that I'll set sleeping goals for september.

Wake up 8 am weekdays when I don't have BJJ in the morning and 4.40 when I have it.

Not playing poker after 1 am except on Sundays if I'm deepish in some tournament.

Get a minimum of 5 hours of sleep each day, preferably 7.

Cut down on Red bull and coffee. No coffee/energy drinks after 9 pm except for Sundays.

Oh, and for results this month, just check out the leaderboard over at Unibet

right decision? by whamm!, August 27

i traded this one (hated the whole touchscreen thing for texting)

http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/1293/htclegend1.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

and got this one( plus the dude added 100usd on top of that)

http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/3320/suuntocoreallblackprofi.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

now im using this crappy old one (texting/calling and handling the fone is waaay easier and life is simpler overall)

http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/3236/samsungd880duosdualsimc.jpg

soon selling this one ( i feel its like this half baller watch so its kind of lol now that ive used this for like 3 years( bought it with prima betonbet heater monies before ) i feel having a watch is silly coz fones have time, but having two is becoming to feel absurd so i think ill stick with the new suunto core one i traded

btw, is the blackberry bold 9700 good for texting? i might buy that one once my tag heuer is sold because the samsung fone is kinda embarrasing to use lol, is that specific blackberry good?
handling that htc legend fone was a pain in the ass, couldnt hold it properly in any position without risk of scratching

NL5 going well by vasoline73, August 27

Running about 11BI below EV (net expected run is 160 ) and it's only 15000 hands since my downswing blog but I honestly feel like my play has improved so yeah ^^. Will try to play until 230-250$ and take a NL10 shot.

The last 5000 hands have been frustrating because it seems like I am just breaking even while my EV has been steadily moving up. Guess it's better than losing though ^^.

Trying to let the red line fall more has been helping me alot.

Live poker ethics? by Fujikura, August 27

OK, only my last live poker trip, I was playing with this terrible spewtard who was literally raising any 2 cards and loved showing down bluffs and such stuff like that. He obviously wasn't playing to win, and was one of many soft spots at the 1/2 table. Anyway, after playing for a few hours with the guy, we have an interesting situation come up.
UTG raises to $10 and there's 2 calls, so I call behind on the button with 77. Spewtard squeezes to $50 and it folds to me. While I'm "thinking", he flips over AKo. I lol and all in. Is this considered unethical? I'm sure I could get a better spot vs this guy and all, but I wanted to take this spot. I felt pretty bad, and felt it was kind of underhanded, but it was his mistake, and felt like it was a spot where he might fold, and either way I'm technically +EV shoving 77 vs him. Thoughts?

25nl Huge Whine Blog by brybear22, August 27

So this month I have been raped in all aspects of this game. I am down ~19 BI from coolers over 35k hands, Tilted off ~13 more, ~15 were a combo tilt/run bad. I have all those hands listed below. Here is a graph of my month. I still have ~1350 BR so I can continue at 25nl but my mindset is pretty much fucked at this point. Next week night classes for my MS in structural engineering will start again and will pretty much kill 3 nights/week. This combined with working a fulltime 40hr job I may just take a break from this game for a while....

NL 10 is too easy
http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz329/k40cheddar/rapingNL10.png?1282874843

Decided to become a nit at rush poker playing 10/7 full ring. Seems to be working well so far. I have been playing very solid and have definitely eliminated a vast majority of spews. I have improved on the ability to fold and to play based off the board more rather than my hole cards (although obv good cards help). Running almost with EV which makes me happy. About $70-$80 away from being rolled for NL 25, though I am considering slightly overrolling so I feel more comfortable with the increase in swings.

Keep grinding hard everyone!

Bad at Poker, Good at everything else. by JonnyCosMo, August 26

Been getting killed in poker since moving into this new place. I swear our internet is cursed. Haven't been playing very well thou so need to fix that. That wasn't the point of this blog thou, I wanted to update and tell everyone that I just beat ElkY in SC2 3 times in a row. I has replays to prove it too!

Ok Ok, and now for epic hands that was played at Palomar a few weeks ago. The game is 20/40 mixed with 5/10 big bet and the rotation of games was Badugi, Triple Draw Deuce to Seven, PLO, and NL Hold'em. Villan in this hand we will refer to from now on as "Pizza Tom". He owns a local pizza shop in San Diego, and has recently picked up poker as a hobby. Note: He has played less than a week of poker before coming in on this particular day.

Hand #1: ($20/$40 Badugi)
First orbit of Badugi and Pizza Tom has never played the game in his life, so we tell him the rules are pretty simple: "You draw 3 times, You want low cards, you want 1 card of every suit, ace is low, and bam you have a badugi!" Pot is 5 way to the first draw, and everyone is drawing atleast 1 card to some that are drawing 3. Oh Badugi is so fun! With one draw left there is about 16 big bets ($640 ish) in the pot with 3 players still left, one being Pizza Tom. Two players draw and Pizza Tom stands pat. First player leads river for $40. Pizza Tom raises to $80, both players fold. Pizza Tom rolls over the 4c 4h 4s Kd and is like "Badugi!" as he scoops massive pot. LOL

Hand #2: ($5/$10 Pot Limit Omaha)
Gordo16 (whos played an extensive amount of PLO / Mixed games, prolly one of the best mixed players in SD) has been the most active on the PLO rounds since he got himself a little stuck. Finally he gets in a heads-up pot with Pizza Tom who once again is still learning the ins and outs of PLO. They get into this one hand on the river the board reads Q-J-7-4-2 with no possible flushes. Pizza Tom has 77XX hand, and Gordo16 has QQXX. Pizza Tom checks river and Gordo pots for $3k. Pizza Tom makes the most ridiculous soul read of a fold after like 10 seconds of thinking!?! Gordo shows him the top set to let him know he was right. This hand sets up the final most epic hand....

Hand #OMG EPIC LOL: ($5/$10 Pot Limit Omaha)
I'll write this hand from Ryan's point of view (Palomar regular who was sitting next to Pizza Tom, and was helping him with the rules to each game. Pizza Tom was showing Ryan is hand each time) Pizza Tom raises UTG to $40, Gordo16 3bets to $150 to try and isolate him. Someone flat calls, and action gets back around to Pizza Tom who repots to like $560. Gordo is sitting deep with him and is already thinking "Oh baby, time to crack aces" as he flats the 4bet. Cold caller folds. When the flop came down 2c 5h 6s, Pizza Tom now leans over and shows Ryan his hand: 8c 8s 8d 4d and asks "Wait so I can only use two cards?" Ryan is like "Yes you can use only 2 of those cards". Pizza Tom proceeds to be like "Oh shit" (as he realizes now that he doesn't have three of a kind 8's) then checks to Gordo. Gordo fires $700 and Pizza Tom doesn't waste too much time before calling. Turn comes 3d so board reads 2c 5h 6s 3d, Pizza Tom checks and Gordo pots it all-in for $2500. Pizza Tom looks back at his hand and again doesn't waste much time before saying "I call, I have a straight" Gordo says "Ug, you must have the AA4X" Pizza Tom then rolls over his 8884 thinking that his lone 4 was making him a straight. Gordo just stares in horror as he rolls over the 2s7h9hJs to see that Pizza Tom had just a pair of 8's which were good at that point (not to mention the 3 blockers to Gordo's straight draw, and 84 to take away the 7 as a 2pair out lol). River bricks and Pizza Tom ships massive PLO pot with pair of 8's. "That would happen to me" say Gordo after the hand as he proceeds to play every hand in the badugi orbit before tilt leaving.

Moral of the story, don't bluff people who don't know the rules to the game

Moral of the story #2, play more live pokers
