So I've been battling it out at the NL50 home games, running ridiculously bad but not letting it phase me because I could clearly see how far above EV I should be that it's just a matter of time. Well I finally won a few deserved pots and ran up enough to take a shot at NL200. (My definition of shot is 2 BI's). Finally got to sit down at an NL200 game again, gosh how I miss thee. Tripled up, became bored, called an hour left, and booked a win. Just feels good to play again.
Made some very painful adjustments to my game after lots of theorycrafting and reading the "weak games" chapter in harrington on cash. Goddamn it feels so fucking weird to limp 99 in the CO in an unopened pot, or 67s OTB when it's folded to me. Just playing as exploitable as I possibly can, and being dumbfounded when they pay me off time and time again. Just literally playing every hand face up. Session started with a moment of rage after I raise some guys straddle with AA my 3rd hand at the table and he shoves $80 straight into me preflop with 72s and flops a flush to my top set. But I quickly won it back and then some.
Lady variance was harsh with me at NL50 a few weeks back. I saw more suckouts in fewer hands than I had ever seen live or online. Hopefully I can dodge some of that shit and actually do something with what little I have. Seriously, all I have to do is not run bad lol. I'm finally learning how the hell our bodies work, and more specifically how our brains work, and it has led me to do a lot of research on how Marijuana affects the brain. I stumbled upon this little list of great facts that most people don't know because we've all been lied to, fooled, scammed, tricked and scared into thinking Marijuana is bad. The crazy thing is that not only is it NOT BAD for us, it is actually very good for us in many situations. But I'll get into that another time.

"Marijuana" refers to the dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant [1], which contain the non-narcotic chemical THC at various potencies. It is smoked or eaten to produce the feeling of being "high." The different strains of this herb produce different sensual effects, ranging from sedative to stimulant.
There is no simple profile of a typical marijuana user. It has been used for 1000s of years for medical, social, and religious reasons and for relaxation [2]. Several of our Presidents [3] are believed to have smoked it. One out of every five Americans say they have tried it. And it is still popular among artists, writers, musicians, activists, lawyers, inventors, working people, etc.
Marijuana has been used since ancient times [4]. While field hands and working people have often smoked the raw plant, aristocrats historically prefer hashish [5] made from the cured flowers of the plant. It was not seen as a problem until a calculated disinformation [sic] campaign was launched in the 1930s [6], and the first American laws against using it were passed [7].

back in june-ish i made a deposit of like $450 to leap right into 25nl. i know people here will probably give me shit for not just building my br with 10nl but at the time i felt that i wasn't respecting the game at 10nl so logically i had to play higher!
i took that ~450ish to about ~850 over the course of what i'd guess was like 15-20k hands and about 5 days. i felt i was playing very well and obviously running well on top of that. obviously this was a lot of money for me to be up in such a short amount of time since i was used to playing 10nl and just being a spewtard and not respecting the players, which probably made me worse than them from a theoretical point of view.
long story short i started to run bad and tilt and spewed all the way to ~$150. i moved back to 10nl when i was down to about 250 but it was the same old story...i had been crushing 25nl over a decent sample, so why should i be modest and change my view of 10nl? obviously i shouldn't; i should just continue to give away my money. obviously.
i took some time off, mostly because i didn't want to deposit again and i only had about 80 in my roll after a few more bad sessions at 10nl. i decided a few days ago i was going to give this online poker thing another shot, and do it right this time. no more being a retard regardless of whether or not i think the players around me are good or not (this has clearly always been my biggest achilles heel when it comes to poker). i'm not sure how many hands i've played since yesterday since my pt3 trial expired, but i've put about 7 hours into 12tabling 5nl and that $80 is now $190 and i'm going to take a 20bi shot at 10nl once i make it there. the job i currently have is seasonal and i've gone from 50 hours a week to about 16 and i'm going to lose the job completely in about 3 weeks so i'm hoping to be able to grind hard and make 25nl and then hopefully 50nl and play solid enough to support myself until i can find another job and pay my tuition blah blah blah.

I've never done a thing like this before. I've drunk-played poker a few times before, but I've always stopped after a couple of hands because I knew it's no good.
Semi-tilted now, but what can you do. I'll just have to re-grind it at NL25. It's gonna take a while though.
