NHL Sens Blog by Bejamin1, November 16

I know this is a Poker forum but a good few of us are hockey fans on here. I thought I'd start re-posting my daily hockey blog here in case anyone was interested. If you have any Sens fans feel free to link them to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flyers Soaring High - Sens in the Middle

Peter Laviolette probably has to pinch himself every time he looks up and down the Philadelphia Flyers bench. He then takes a deep breathe and reminds himself once again that in fact he's not dreaming, the Flyers are just that good. The sheer potency of the offense in Philadelphia is enough to make other teams wet their collective pants. So where does that leave the Ottawa Senators?

The Sens are an upper-middle of the pack team in the Eastern Conference. They will be competitive most nights but against the top four playoff seeds it's always going to be a tense hockey game. It's almost enough to give the average hockey fan heart palpitations as we sit in our chairs cheering them on. These games are particularly tough to watch because I find I'm never filled with a strong swell of confidence in the team. I know they're good enough to find a way to win a good share of these games but I also know who the second best team on the ice is going to be when the puck drops.

The run of hockey in 2006-07 had a very different feeling. The Sens were a team that could score at will and seemingly could bend their opponents to the breaking point on a whim. Villain after villain would be slayed by our hometown heroes on the back of an almost unstoppable top line. That line was so good it gave the whole team and the fans the confidence that the Sens were always going to come out on top after sixty minutes. It's a sense of confidence that I just don't feel anymore when I watch this hockey club.

I've always been a fan of the sentiment that there are only two really wonderful places to be in this league. The top five or the bottom five. The other twenty positions are not as enjoyable. You get neither the hope of a new star player to lift the franchise out of mediocrity nor the confidence that your team has a serious shot to contend for the Stanley Cup.

The Senators desperately need a young star forward to come in and tear things up. When Alfie hangs them up they're going to need yet another. The question of where these two forwards are going to come from is a subject of much debate. Murray has always been good with draft picks at 15th and later picking up guys like Getzlaf, Perry, and Karlsson so I'm hoping that holds true. My second great hope is that the Senators develop enough amazing defensive talent that we're able to swing a trade for a young top three forward in the near future. It will be money in the bank if this team is able to move one of it's young stud blueliners for a special forward in the near future. The last hope is that Bobby Butler can be a serious NHL player. He's currently ripping it up at the AHL level but that is no guarantee of success with the big club. If he can come up later on in the year and make an impact I will be a very happy Sens fan.

USA trip (LA, Hawaii, ...): tips? by Joe, November 16

Hi LP!

I am coming to the USA this sunday (Nov 21) with some friends for vacation and we are planning to spend the first 5-6 days in Los Angeles area or basically in southern California in general.

Since I know there is quite a few people from south Cali area posting here, I would like to hear some recommendations on things to visit. Primarily we want to visit everything in LA, but a a day trip (or two) is also possible, so San Diego area for example is also within reach.

Then our plan is to continue to Vegas for a couple days and then to Hawaii. I am not sure if there are any people from Hawaii posting here, but if someone can give me reccomendations on what not to miss there, it would also be appreciated.

And of course, if anyone wants to meet up for a beer or something, we definately welcome that, just pm me here or on facebook (profile name: Josef Joe Samanek).

Such epic runbad. by Drakk, November 15

last july i went to montreal to see family and while doing so i went to play in a live cash game outside the casino, downtown montreal (not with the indians).

Long story short... the cops came in and cleaned the house and arrested us all, took our money and let us go free. That poker house had been running for over 4 months. I lost my 127.50$ in chips + cash in my wallet - 20$, for a total of 327.50$. Which sucked because I really am not rich, but i could handle it and the cops told us we probably wouldnt have any more consequences.

Today, I recieved a letter letting me know I was summoned at the law court in early december.

I talked to my friend who talked to a lawyer, and apparently the *maximum* that i could recieve would be 6 months in jail or 5k$. I mean wtf i went there to play nl50 ready to lose a buyin or 2, not 100.

I'm probably going to end up having a fine of 100-1000 but i really have no idea on what to expect.

So yeah gg me

72o - The Game by NewbSaibot, November 15

Uhhh, wtf? Played live and they implemented the seven deuce rule. Except that instead of seven deuce offsuit, it could be suited, cuz ya'know nobody should fold a suited hand. And winning didnt count unless you saw a flop, cuz ya'know everyone should be allowed to see a flop.

I actually felt gay playing this. Like all I could think about was stuffing a cock in my mouth and making someone moan.

Anyway I ended up getting 3 streets of value with 72 by hitting 2 pair vs whatever the fuck, plus a 4BB bounty from 9 players at the table.

HEH...

Rush by craimeariver, November 15

Found a rakeback offer from Fulltilt in my Mail last Week and thought it would be a good time to play some poker again. Moved my roll to FT and started playing: nl10 rush.
so much fun and i literally went on a rush. made like 20 buyins in 15k hands. took a shot at nl25 and got owned for 4buyins. i tell ya nl25 is so stupid. nitty as fuck and no real degenerates like on higher levels. i know its a common meme here on lp to make fun about skipping nl25 but i really think about doing it. back at nl10 i had the most swingy 25k hands ever and eventually came out breakeven which leaves me sitting at 340$. questions is now: is rush really worth it? is it just a huge coolerfest? are there any LPers regularly playing at micro rush limits with positive results? like to share some tactixx?
graphs ,stats and some hands later when im home...

2nd Sesshhh by OpWestAcct, November 15

Just finished my 2nd session at NL 100. It was 10 hours and 9k hands long and the most ridiculous thing I think I have ever played in my poker career. My first session was yesterday and I finished up $40 after 1k hands so I didn't really get a taste of the difference in NL 50 and NL 100. The aggression is 5 fold. People don't just check down boards when they don't hit. They double barrel - constantly. I never knew I could flat flop and turn with air and then barrel a blank river card and get a fold - That just doesn't happen at NL 50. The 3 betting was ridiculous and even with all my experience I was about to crack. I literally had to 4 bet and call a shove with A9o vs one guy who shipped 88. Made some spews... Had a few guys hero call my bluffs and got coolered in some big pots that I really needed. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I don't know how to battle the constant 3 bets. It seems like every time I raise a pocket pair or a suited connector I get 3 bet and don't know how to react since the situation comes up a million times a session. Ended up finished down $350 which I am fine with considering I made about $135 in rakeback this session alone and I was down $900 at one point.

HELP ME GOSU POKER PRO by Wreckognize, November 15

So I used to make a lot of money playing poker and thought I was a poker genius, I am a college graduate...I recently got laid off from Pepsi Co. and went back to my 5/10 bread and butter and it really feels that I have many huge leaks I didn't have and everyone has gotten better and have thus far after a week lost 6 buyins, which happens but I feel I am getting outplayed. If there is anyone out there that would help and mentor me I would greatly appreciate it...unfortunately at the moment I can only afford $50/hour and that is if you can prove you are great at this game. I know this post sounds ridiculous but I would really enjoy an online friend that can give me lucrative advice. PM me if you qualify.
