stressful last few sessionsby ChrisKim47, March 24
Started off playing really, bad while being cold decked alot. Paid off sets, but my value hands got owned so hard. All these things led to my worst session ever.
I look through my biggest losers and its just retarded how bad these guys are. Last few session I should have put up huge numbers but things just didn't go my way. Looking into playing 9 tables instead of 12. Might help out some.
I've been involved with investing in stocks and options for the past year and I know a lot of LP are involved with investing as well as poker (as the two have a lot of overlap). I just transferred my assets to Tradeking and I wanted to let everyone know of the promotion, refer-a-friend, that's going on at TradeKing right now that's ending on March 31st. I feel is a great deal ($100 for both parties when you open an account with a $1000 minimum). Their fees are $5 per trade, which is lower than most of the other Stock brokers such as Scottrade/E-trade out there.
Details:
""Refer a friend and you both get $100."
Normally, Tradeking gives $50 to the referrer for referrals and sometimes runs special promotions where both parties get $50. This is the first time I've seen them offer $100 to both parties. Offer is valid until March 31st.
Text directly from Tradeking:
"I wanted to let you know that TradeKing is my preferred broker and,
with their improved "Refer a Friend" program, we can now get $100
bonuses in our brokerage accounts. To qualify, all you need to do
is open an account, fund with $1,000 or more within 30 days, and
make a trade within 180 days.
So why did I choose TradeKing? They have a great price, at just
$4.95 per trade, and their customer service has won awards from
SmartMoney and Kiplinger's. Their suite of powerful tools is
free and they have an innovative Trader Network, where traders
connect with one another and share their ideas and strategies.
Interested? It only takes a few minutes to open an account. The
"Refer a Friend" program is open to you too. I hope you'll join me
at TradeKing. Just click the link below to get started."
Tradeking fees per trade:
Stocks: $4.95
Options: $4.95 + $0.65 per contract
Minimum deposit: $0 (minimum deposit to qualify for this offer is $1,000)
Awards:
* Ranked #1 in customer service by Smart Money (2010).
* Smart Money award for Top Online Broker 4 years running (2004-2009).
* Awarded “Best For Options Traders” by Barrons (2009 & 2010)
* 4 Star rated by Barrons in their annual survey of the best browser based online brokers 2007-2010.
This site has gotten very good reviews from many reviewers. Their customer service is fantastic and they charge the same fees for over the phone transactions as they do for their online transactions.
Tradeking also has a up to $150 transfer fee refund that should stack with the referral promotion:
With TradeKing, you'll get an intuitive trading platform, fast trade execution, powerful charts and research, professional-caliber tools, our innovative Trader Network and much more, all for just $4.95 a trade. We'll also refund transfer fees on ALL new accounts charged by your current broker up to $150. It's just another way TradeKing is easy on your wallet. Conditions Apply*. See below for more information about this offer."
There are no inactivity fees or account management fees, and to get the bonus you just have to keep $1000 you deposited in there for 6 months and execute at least 1 trade. If you don't know someone with an account I can send you a referral, but mostly if you're looking to enter the stock market this is a great opportunity to do so! (10% free capital is pretty big!)
Hey all, this will be my introduction to the LiquidPoker community. I have been a lurker on here for quite some time, and have been a very irregular poker player.
The start of my poker "career" came in 2007, when a kid who lived on the same floor at my dorm transferred me $10. Thinking I was a hotshot, I immediately sat down and tried to out think everyone and never gave anyone credit. I soon found myself down to ~$4-5 in my account. So then I decided that I would start reading over the articles here since I had known of the site from my time as a TL lurker.
After doing all the reading, and trying to use the knowledge I gained, I quickly became a winner at 2nl. With about $60 in my account, and a long, long night of drinking under my belt, I sat down at a 50nl table and quickly donked off a BI. Since I couldn't reload, I quit and upset at myself for my lack of control I took a break from poker. With a year break due to school and work, I took another shot at 2nl. I turned my $10 into $50 again within a month of sporadic play, but school and work took over and I had to stop.
Now, I am back and attempting to try and finally conquer 2nl and move up through the ranks. I know my play won't be as constant as I would like, but I do have my mind made up that now is the time that I want to play some poker, so I decided to start up my blog and try and post to get better, even though I know I've missed the peak years.
So I have to work the front desk of the dorms tonight for 8 hours, 2 of which i already worked earlier before lunch. I tried to play FTP earlier in the first two hours of work via the computer in the office. I was able to dl ftp about 2 weeks ago, but now that i have to dl the update, i am being blocked by some kind of admin password firewall device that my boss put on the computer. Why i could dl this 2 weeks ago and not now boggles the mind.
Is there anyway i can download the ftp update and bypass the password?
Also chris brown promotes his album on ABC morning show and ragetilts backstage when all questions asked to him was about him beating up on Rihanna LOL
just watched "Limitless" , pretty entertaining film and highly recommended, also watched "Battle for L.A." and surprisingly thought it wasn't as bad as 2012, "Paul" (simon pegg & company) was hilarious
Anyone in need of FTP funds? Need halps plzby YoMeR, March 23
Hey guys, been a long time since my last blog post. I've been really busy with some business stuff. I just recently opened a new cell phone business in my local area and it's been quite hectic. Anyways on to my main point. As most of you know opening a running a business, especially a start up takes lots of capital. I have a good amount of capital. Well better word for it is had since FTP can't fucking cash out for the love of them. So I propose anyone a cool deal.
I'll give you a 2% premium if you do a transfer with me via real money through wire/bank transfer for my ftp funds. I'll only accept amounts over $2000 tho. So for example if we do a 5k transfer I'll ship you 5000 + 2% on ftp and you can wire me the money via bank transfer of your choosing.
I'll do a better update in the future when I'm not so strapped for time. But as for poker it's been pretty meh. up and down and prob break evenish for past ~20-30k hands. (only got to put in about that much volume in feb/mar so far)

My my, how life has changed in such a short amount of time. It is so easy to be depressed and demoralized, thinking the world is going to end due to the circumstances in your life. I have no become a millionaire or a rocket scientist but I can't help but feel that I'm in a great place right now. I also know that happiness is temporary as life has its own low and high swings. It's a matter of dealing with it with the right attitude and I'm hoping that I have the maturity to deal with the variance as it comes and goes.
Enough of the MySpace talk and onto poker! Now that I have a part-time job with very little expenses (still at home), depositing money is not much of an issue and I find that it's doing wonders for my BR psychology. Granted this is mostly due to playing at the microstakes (5NL) but it's still good to know that losing my BR is not a big deal...if I lose it to bad variance that is. Tilting it away would still be very painful due to my competitive nature.
As for actual play, I have been practicing my ABC's by re-reading some articles that I glanced over three year ago. I'm debating whether to commit to FR or 6max but at the present moment, I'm leaning towards FR because I think it fits my personality more. I'm also running the trial version of PT3 and am probably going to buy it when it runs out because it's such great software.
I'm very glad that this community is still thriving as it's filled to the brim with very helpful people. I know that if I make a post that some good soul will reply with decent advice pretty quickly and this I take not for granted! I hope to contribute just as much if and when I get better. The tone of this post is actually sickening me a bit because it's so optimistic and full of cliches. I guess I'm still a cynic at heart
On spring break right now, gotta type 8 pages-double spaced worth of jibberish for my writing intensive class and work at the restaurant is always a bitch. Basically got like 3 days to put in 10k more hands. In the beginning of march I set a goal of putting in 50K hands for the month, but for no real reason. I just want to make that $$$ yo.
Been avg 8 tabling the nl 50 with even red line, but then I semi tilted and swung my red line down but whatevers. Starting to run below ev but really can't complain since the majority of the month i've either been running at EV or slightly above it. I just want to make sure I keep my sanity and consistently put in quality work.
The mean IQ of the population of eight graders in a city is known to be 100. You have selected a random sample of 50 children for a study of educational achievements. The first child tested has IQ of 150. What do you expect the mean IQ to be for the whole sample?
If you read this, answer whatever comes first to your mind. I expect 100% correct answer from poker players of course
