ima dropout :( by SakiSaki, February 10

Ive had it with school. Just decided a couple of days ago, Im dropping out for now. I have been studying for 1,5 years and I have enjoyed it alot. But lately school has turned from being something stimulating and fun to just a necessary evil that I have to power through. Going back after the summer though, just going to take a well deserved break until then, playing poker and ejoying myself.

Im pretty pumped by the fact that I now can give poker my full attention and hopefully I can log some sick hands from now on.

As expected, my winrate has dropped a bit since my last entry. Im still very satisfied with my stats and I feel I'm playing really solid poker. I do miss the feeling of playing alot more LAG than Im doing now but the nature of the partygames just wont allow it. Theres just no point in getting fancy when there are so many useless players just tossing money my way whenever I have a hand.

You are right Ket, Ive turned into just another ordinary tagfish Awell, its fine though, lately I havent felt the need to prove to the world that my tesikles infact are quite enormous.

here are my stats so far:

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/9981/statsfg3.png

Ship it.

Btw, I might be needing a trade from full tilt to stars/party. My rakeback comes in on full tilt on the 15th and due to various reasons I have no way of getting that money of my account there. So if you have dough on party/stars and need some on full tilt let me know. Im not sure of the amount yet but I think its somewhere around $500-$1000. I will ofc send first.

To Start Things Off.. by Benzooor, February 09

I've decided to start one of these blogs to log my poker playing, and try and keep myself on track..

A little bit of history:
I have played on bodog about the last 6 months, and have come out just about even. I would always build my stack up, gamble at higher limits, and go broke down to 10$ and then start again.

Last weekend I blew my whole stack on the high limit table when I hit a flush with AKs, only to have a set turn into a boat on the river to bust me. So I deposited 20$, quickly blew that to 6$ on SnGs, and decided I might need some discipline.

I grew that 6$ to 16$ last night and decided to enter in the nightly 500$ freeroll, the 3$ NL tourney, and the 12$ 2k$ guaranteed.

I placed about 80th out of 2000 on the freeroll, and 16th out of 90-something in the 3$, as well as 16th out of ~200 on the 2kguaranteed. The only cash was the 2k guaranteed, but it was 25$ so I guess i profited.

I'm going to keep grinding out profits in the .05/.10 blinds, but I definitely have the most fun playing MTT's. Seeing as I went very deep in all 3 tourneys last night, I'd rather put 100$ in and useit to just play MTT's (buyin under 30$) and see how that goes.. We'll have eto see how big my check from work is tonight.

Tonight will be the obligatory night spent at my gf's house, so no poker will be played, although I will be playing in a live game tomorrow afternoon.

I am also entering a World Series Satellite run by a guy that hosts monthly 40$ tournaments that I am a regular at. he's having 3 tournaments with a 100$ buyin, and we are expecting about 40 people for each one. If you get top 5 in any of the 3 preliminary tournaments, you are placed in the final tournament. The final 15 players will play in the final tournament, and 1st place will get 10k, second place 1k, and i think 3rd gets 200 or something; whatever it works out to be. I'm really excited because I think I have a good shot at this and 10k would be REALLLY nice.

Day 1 by AA_Poker_101, February 09

Today I am starting my journey to limit my excessive Poker abuse. I have been playing almost non-stop and after 9 days I have almost reached Gold Star status on PokerStars.com. I am going to be setting goals for myself each day and try to follow them accordingly. My goal as of right now is to play the 50/1$ tables from 5:30 PM at night to 7:00 PM at night. if I lose 100$ I quit playing for the rest of that night. My goal is to make 100$ a night playing poker. Tonight I start my journey and I will post nice hands of the night while playing them. Good Luck to me~

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/144153

That was the biggest hand of the 10 minute Poker Session. I must say, it was a pretty Donkey play by me and was thinking I was running into a Pocket Pair and was in a coin flip situation but instead the donkey has A4 thinking I was bluffing, GG. Right now I am just playing a FPP Satelite to Sunday Million and then I will head back to Starcraft. Good day Gentlemen~

New Haircut, New Setup, Same Grind. by Svenman87, February 09

Okay well today I woke up around 2pm to my mom yelling at me to wake up and find a job and to get a haircut (I guess employers dont like hippy hair.. bleh) The reason I overslept was because I was playing poker from 2-5 and watched a few cardrunners videos (I recently subscribed to CR and I think it's a great tool to improve your game for anyon who plays 50nl+) until 7am.

Sidenote: I also finally purchased Pokertracker ^_^ yay
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e167/Norwegian87/Picture2.jpg

So yesterday I went back to college to pick up all of my stuff from the dorms and i got most of it setup. I still have to work on the speaker system because I set it up wrong :-( And my roomate stole my headphones... (S.O.B. I'LL KILL YOU!) so i'm reduced to using headphones that only the left ear works. SOMETIMES
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e167/Norwegian87/TheSetup.jpg

I wish I could get PokerPatterns to work... but it won't let me output the data into my pokerpatterns database :-( I guess i have to mess around with both of them more... But anyways I played for about 3 hours and it was a roller coaster...

Things were off to a SLOW for the first 2 hours. Then i pushed with an open-ended + flush + overs and lost vs two all-ins which set me back... I ended in a rush of cards though and played fairly well I think.

EDIT: I'm only playing 4 tables at a time. This is because I'm really trying to concentrate on each situation hand-to-hand, and so far I think it has paid off a lot more than playing 12 tables of ABC poker without any reads on anyone at a table.
http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e167/Norwegian87/CHS.jpg

Well I'm off to nap for a few hours then wake up and play another session or go party. Talk to you all later ^_^

P.S. lol @ joining a 100NL table then getting scared to put 1/20th of my br on the line so I left after picking up 2 pots preflop

It's too bad I dont have a girlfriend by Daut, February 09

http://www.whitecastle.com/valentinesday/_images/vday_page_header.jpg

Cause for Valentine's day, she would get the royal treatment......

Check this out:

http://www.whitecastle.com/valentinesday/

That's right. You can bring your lady to an amazing dinner at White Castle for Valentine's day. Cheap, romantic, what could be better? I mean they even have hostess seating and candles at your table. Make sure you make reservations soon though cause im sure they will fill up fast.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/white_castle_valentines.JPG

Nothing is more disturbing than mid meal your girlfriend getting the runs. At least you get to share the whole place with Harold and Kumar, and if youre lucky, NPH might show up.

Poker is going great lately. So far this year, I'm up 118k at the 25/50nl game on stars, and up another 36k in plo. Things are going insanely well. Maybe next time I will have a treat for you and do a street by street analysis of a hand. That's only if youre lucky though.

If only... by RAHZero, February 09

I didn't run ridiculously cold, I'd be crushing these games. Lost a full stack with 44 on a Q43r flop against AQ which hit runner runner boat, and lost a 300+ BB pot with KQ on a JT9r flop against T9 and JT, 3 way all-in on the flop, obv 9 on the turn. Also lost a buy-in at the beginning of the session with KK vs. AA, and half a stack with AQ on a QQx flop against QT which rivered a ten after we were all-in. Finished up $59.90 in 1731 hands, should have been way more. $200 more to go before I move back to NL 100.

Not too bad (going out and another live session) by SneakrFreakr, February 09

So on Wednesday I woke up at 4pm, watched new episode of HSP (weak donks that are limping all the time), ate sth and about 8:30pm I went to my friends' campus. After a couple bottles of vodka brought straight from Poland we went to this new club called The Birdcage. It was a students only night but we already had tickets so the didn't check our IDs. The queue outside of the club was really huge (at least 1,5-2h of waiting to get in) but thanks to out tickets we got in immedietaly. Well the club is really good. Looks a bit like 70s 80s style (which is great) and the music was really really god (Especially in the beginning, later on it got a bit shitty). It was a bit too crowded and it would take like 10-15 mins to buy a drink. But the good part was that double vodka with redbull costed £2. Well what can I say - I got pretty drunk (nothing special), spent too much £ (as usually) and before I got home I went to my favourite kebab place (like almost every time I go out). So a pretty standard night out for me. I'm looking forward to next Wednsday and I hope we'll go there once again.

Yesterday I woke up about 2pm, watched some tv, ate my breafakst and had to get ready to work. I started at 5pm (I'm soooo fed up with this job, luckily I've got only 2 or 3 shifts left) and finished about midnight but we stayed for a couple of drinks with our menager. When we finished I had a little dilemma. I work like 100metres from the casino where you can play holdem on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cash games start about 11pm-midnight and it was like 1am. Well my decision was pretty obvious and after a few minutes I was waiting with £200 in chips to get a seat at the £2/£2 pot limit holdem table. I got it after about 45 mins. One of the good regulars had already a huge stack (like £800 or so), others had from 50-200. The beginning was quite unlucky for me. I got pocket kings in the middle position. 2 limpers before me so I make a pot sized raise. Everyone except for these two limpers fold. Flop comes Q29 rainbow They both check, I make a solid bet and one of the limpers (the biggest fish and the biggest bluffer in the game) pushes for like £50 more. Easy call for me but the turn comes Q and the river is an ace so I know I've probably lost. And I was right - he showed Q6 soooooooted.

So now I'm down to about £80 or so and I get 88 on the BB. 7 or 8 limpers and I check (no point in raising here, especially oop caus eI'm gonna get at least 5 callers anyway). flop comes 89Q and I bet the pot. One caller (the big fish) and the turn is a J. I'm not folding this hand anyway but the better way to get his money is a checkraise (he bets almost every scarecard, especially when 4th card to a straight comes and opponent checks). As I predicted he bet £25 into a ~£50 pot and after taking some time I pushed for like £45-£50 more. It took him like two minutes to fold 79o and I could see that he was really pissed off.

Later I got TT on the BB and after 5-6 limpers I raised the pot. Got 3 callers. Flop comes 633 and I bet like 2/3 of the pot. Solid regular with a big stack calls. T comes on the turn and I check, knowing that he'll bet 90% of the time. And so he does, betting £40 into a £80 pot. After taking some time I decide to push for another £55-£60. I thought about just calling and pushing a river but an overcard come came and might've scared him and such a play would look much stronger and it would be easier for him to fold. Luckily he called with 88 and after a blank river I took the pot.

Next hour was pretty quiet, I got AA once but took the pot on the flop. Then I got KK and the button raised blind to £4 before the cards were dealt. I was in the early position and there were two limpers to me so I raised the pot to £18. Got two callers (one 45-50yr old woman and quite a fishy guy - well he plays not that bad postflop, but when it comes to prefelop play, he's a donator). First card on the flop is an ace so I'm like "yuppi!", the other one is a 6 and then BAM! A king comes. I bet £40 in to a $60 pot and the woman pushes for like £23 more. Other guy folds, easy call for me. She's got AT, 4 comes on turn and river and the woman (plus a few another people) think that she just sucked out on me. After spending some time trying to explain that I've got a better hand, dealer finally pushes the pot towards my stack.

Later on I played one hand badly. I had a top pair with K kicker (no clubs though) and called my opponent’s bet on flop. Turn was a 3rd club and I could see that he’s probably giving up. On the river, when a 4th club came, it was easy to see his frustration and I knew he’s not calling 99% of the time but still I thought that I might have a chance of winning this pot on the showdown. He had top pair A kicker so I should’ve bet this time and I would take this pot (about £70).

About 5am when the game was getting to the end, my hand of the day took place. Button raised blind to 4, BB called and I picked up QQ in the early position. I made a pot sized raise to 16, and got like 5 callers so the pot was around £75. Flop comes 2 9 Q with two hearts and a diamond. I was thinking about checkraising but I was also afraid that everyone might check and I’d give 5 people a free card. I decided to bet £50 and the solid regular in late position raised me to £150. Now I knew that he’s not getting away from his hand and I knew that I’ll put the rest of my stack. Everyone folded and it was up to me. After counting my stack two times, looking at my cards like 5 times, looking a bit frustrated I pushed for £170 more and he instacalled. I was hopinh that he’s got a lower set or two pairs. The only hand I didn’t want him to have was a flush draw. Turn is a 6 of diamonds, river is and 8 of diamonds and I’m praying that he didn’t have JT or two diamonds. Luckily he shows 8h2h and I show my set of queens and take the biggest pot of the day. It was pretty stressful though. Almost £700 is quite a lot of money for me but even if I lost it I wouldn’t be devastated or sth.

I was really happy to finally have a solid winning day in this game. +£480 in 3,5hrs. I was getting good cards, hit a set like 4 times, had aces, kings, queens and tens so I was running pretty good. I’m still learning a lot about this game but I think that in 2 weeks time I’ll be able to beat it constantly. I’m picking up many tells on my opponents, getting to know their tendencies and I’ll be able to take a lot more uncontested pots now. This should definitely boost up my winnings in this game.

Today I woke up about 2pm (yeah I know – I have to change my lifestyle a bit) and since then I’ve been doing nothing). Now I’ll probably watch a new episode of The O.C., play a bit online and I think I’ll go to the other casino tonight. I’ve called them and I’ve been told that they’ve got cash games on Fridays and Saturdays. It would be nice if they had £1/£1 cause I’d feel much more comfortable in such a game. The only problem is that this casino is located quite far from where I live and getting a taxi would cost like at least £10. And I don’t feel like coming back by bus with a few hundred pounds in my pocket. But I think I’ll go there anyway. I should get a car, this would make everything much easier. Maybe next month? Depends on my results in February.

February so far by Joe, February 09

Poker has been going quite good recently. I had a few losing sessions, in one of them i lost more than 1 grand, but overall i am satisfied with my poker results:

http://joeik.sc45.info/img/joe/pokerfeb09.jpg

I havent played a lot of hands, but i think its ok considering i only play 4 tables. Recently, I have been trying to add tables and play 6 at a time and so far it seems to be working ok. I will try to keep my winrate above 4.5ptbb/100 while playing 6 tables. If I manage to do it, then I will be very satisfied - this would mean about $100/hour which is really nice for me if I can keep it like that over the long run.

As for poker goals, I hope I will keep my good game and dont hit a big bad run. In that case I think I will be able to move to NL400 in about 6 weeks with proper BR, which I would consider very nice.

Besides poker, I finally went to the mountains few days ago to enjoy the snow and learn snowboarding. (I bought a new board in november and wasnt given a chance to go snowboarding until now. Poor winter in my country this year.) Unfortunately for me, the second day i happened to fall badly and I broke my right arm just next to the wrist. That means I had to go back home and since i cant really use the right arm now, I cant do any sports, I cant play nor starcraft neither dota, etc. So like the only activities I can do at home now is playing poker and watching movies.

Fish fish fish by kantoiki, February 09

So yeah i got some better photos today and in doing so picked up several grievances regarding my fish tank.
First off i dislike the platys i brought and am considering returning them within a couple of weeks for another schoal of small fish as well as possibly a betta (fighting fish).
Secondly, my plants are obviously dying so i'm going to opt for fake plants. To all fish tank owners out there shaking their heads in disgust i WOULD try again with live plants cept i'm about to start uni and wont have time to look into it properly and my from what i've read my fish won't suffer from lack of live plants.
Also contrary to what karma says, my tank is by far more uber than his and this should be proved in a battle of fighting fish.
This is one of the photo's i took: you can see some of the platy, although not clearly since i suck at taking photos
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/2283/img0913en4.jpg

also of the cory's of which i'm liking more now http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/6287/img0917pz4.jpg

and lastly my neon tetras http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/3232/img0912hi6.jpg

Anyway i think i'll stop posting pictures of my fish until i get new ones and start concentrating on poker once more. Its been a good distraction though and will continue to be good anti tilting/ feng shui in my room
All tilt monkeys should do as i do, *cough* jonno *cough*
Oh and also i found this hilarious: Black Sheep- Trailer
I'm not one for horrors but i think this is a definite must see haha

I love Tycho by DustySwedeDude, February 09

"didn't you have a sick run to get to low stakes in the first place?

you should've expected some mediocre times to follow up the succes.." - Tycho about my ranting post about bad luck.

I was actually too stupid to realize that, and he kinda made me look at it from a different point of view. That might very well be the most important thing anyone have said to me since "She has chlamydia, God damn it, stay away!". Thanks a lot man.

Play Good? Or Run Good? I don't know by JonnyCosMo, February 09

http://www.liquidpoker.net/informatio...1/last/Is_this_totally_terrible_.html

http://www.liquidpoker.net/userpoll/draw.php?poll_id=226
Poll: So which one is it?
(Vote): "Damn JonnyCosMo you are a superstar poker player!"
(Vote): "OMG You run better than Ryan Daut x10000!"
(Vote): "Wow you need serious mental help. You're totally brain damaged"

Read the thread first... Because I just had a +8 buyin day (after starting the day down 4 buy-ins so I swung up 12 buy-ins by the end of the day) at NL100 trying the following thing:

If I am in a raised pot and it's heads-up, I'm just not folding the flop. Like no matter what. I either am raising, or flat calling and taking the hand to the turn. The exception here is obv I'm not calling someone's all-in with absolute crap. The thread chronicles the mixed results I got today. Please take a look then take a vote.

THANKS

PS: Obv this isn't how I normally play day in and day out, so dont be paying me off with absolute crap and be surprised when I have a hand like everytime caz I'm really a super uber duper alpha chicken nut peddler ok?

Starting Fresh by Arcias, February 08

So I did the whole PP $50 transfer thing, doubled it and promptly lost it trying out blackjack. I just want to say that I hate blackjack and I have no idea why I threw that money away.

Any way, I went down to $30 from the original $50 and have since made the money back through poker, and I thought that I might as well start this to keep track of daily gains/losses.

I'll start with that tomorrow.

Bye bye PS by bigbb33, February 08

Finally met the 1500 base fpps needed to cash my $150 Pokerstars anniversary bonus. With that bonus cash I'm off to FTP, the magical world of avatars and rakeback.

My bankroll is up to $1300, and I've played about 2.6k hands at 50 NL, though I'm down about $30 or so I feel as though I'm playing well and my stats support it, so I'll stay where I am and work on my game.

I also found a really nice script for table positioning and easier reloading on FTP (if you click the 'get more chips button', it auto clicks 'reload max' and then okay). It's FTPplanner and can be found here

Ship it.
