So I have dropped to the lowest my bankroll has been today, and really I can't say anything. I didn't play today when I wasn't in the mood, and I even took a break and came back feeling great.
Havnt played any poker online today, but i did have another of the £5 buyin games, this time with 6 mates. They are really quite weak and LOVE to check their great hands, makes them very transparant but i get paid off easily with made flushes against their 2pair/sets, great stuff.
Came first quite easily but i was getting dealt some cards and hitting my flops, altho i did lose with 3 kings against a short stack who pushed with straight flush, king high. Crazy hand.
£25 profit though, ship it!!
Regarding my online poker im still at around $350 BR havnt really moved a lot, im now moving over $100 to poker.com to do a promotional deal thru vegaspokerpro.com.
I have to deposit a minimum of $50 and earn 10,000 *comp points* to get a free pokertracker, so im gunna attempt to do that. I'm depositing $100 cos they have a 100% bonus up to $100 so i figure i may as well make best use of that, and play until my money there is all cleared.
Looking at the chart i think i have to play $25NL which im slightly underrolled for, but its worth it for the free pokertracker, hopefully i wont get off to a mass losing start and get owned =/ 3300 hands i think i need to play, shouldn't take toooooo long!
So a bunch of my idiot frat brothers wanted to get a weekly game going, and knowing how stupid and horrible at poker they are (mind you I only play 10NL and in comparison to even me theyre HORRIBLE) I gladly accepted.
I get there and ask what the stakes are and they say .25/.50. Naturally I pull out $50 to buy in and they are like "Whoa whoa $50 ? What?"
They go on to tell me that the "max buy-in" is $20 to "even the playing field" I calmly explain that 40BB is not a sufficient stack to be playing serious poker etc etc. They were all like "let it go" "drop it" blah blah, so I just left.
Correct me if I'm wrong but playing with a table full of shortstack idiot monkeys doesnt sound like good/fun poker.
I didn't play all that much today and i had this cute run.. i actually realized i shud stop chatting on msn non stop while playing cuz i don't focus enough and some of my play at the beginning of the session were spews... so yeah i'll work on that
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 15 hands and saw flop:
- 3 out of 4 times while in big blind (75%)
- 0 out of 3 times while in small blind (0%)
- 1 out of 8 times in other positions (12%)
- a total of 4 out of 15 (26%)
Pots won at showdown - 1 of 1 (100%)
Pots won without showdown - 0
On a side note my job is killing me and i really hate it. Oh god how much i hate it!!!!! I just say to myself that what doesn't kill you make's you better.
This song from Radiohead describes how i feel except the part with the government (i don't give a fuck about politic but i proly should ...whatever) ... here are the lyrics:
No Surprises
A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired and happy
Bring down the government
They don't
They don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake
Some carbon monoxide
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
Silent
Silent
This is my final fit
My final bellyache with
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please
Such a pretty house and such a pretty garden
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises please
Played nl50 again, after reading a few replies from earlier. Only got about 500 hands in and won 4 (!) buyins. I was pretty happy because I lost a buyin to a pretty dumb hand and lost a hand against a shortstack QQ v AK. And after graphing my session, I decided to graph my month.. Yayyyyy!
Added some super awesome fishies to the tank, I only put a few in so if there's something seriously wrong with the water and they die horrible deaths it won't cost me too much.
I'm going to add the fish slowly because that's the kind of guy I am, Rock Steady
It should be noted that my fish tank is far more awesome than kantoiki's
I got 10 small ones which are feeder fish that you're supposed to feed to bigger fish. Bought them cos they're cheap and even though they were brutally eating a black fishes (like this)eyeballs
off when I saw them at the shop I'm confident they'll get on just fine : http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7958/untitledxy8.png
So anyway as the title suggests, i started setting up my fish tank a few days ago. This new and sudden urge was brought on by Karma/luke telling me his plans to start a fish tank and showing me AWESOME looking fish.
Anyway i had a fish tank from ages ago so i brought it out and chucked it on the desk in the corner of my room. Next day luke came over and we went and brought some stuff, new corner filter, a heater (i'm planning to do tropical fish). This was the end product at the time: http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/2756/img0898be7.jpg
So the next morning we set out to buy some fish and came back home with 2 pepper cory catfish, 10 neon tetra's and 1 angelfish. This was probably a bit impulsive as it'd only been about 12 hours since we'd put in this liquid substance that helps clear the minerals and chemicals that the fish cant handle and the water hadnt' fully cleared. BUT i was sure that any fish of mine would be TUFF FISH and could handle it.
Also brought some plants, flake food and blackworms which they apparently like. http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/2631/img0903ee7.jpg
This was what the tank looked like after i'd put everything in, you cant really see anything in the photo except the neon tetra's in the front and the angel fish in the bottom back right corner hiding like a pussy. The cory's were by far the most active initially with the damn angel fish pretty much not moving for an hour or more reminds me of pokerdoc, nit. http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/8964/img0904ro5.jpg
Anyway there you can see the angelfish, i like it and hopefully wont grow to fast since i'd like to keep it for a while.
Anyway this all happened over the past 2-3 days. So i'll take some more photos and update you guys on whats happened since then and make it a seperate post to make it easier to browse/read.
Well this would actually be my second post because i just wrote the most hilarious first post you would have ever read but then i accidentally clicked the back button on the side of my mouse and lost the whole fucking thing!
So in a nutshell here was my first post...
blah blah blah
BLAH i couldn't be arsed blah blah retyping it all
blah blah blah
So anyway - this is my first post, most will probably be like everyone else's IE: i will whine and carry on about how bad i run and boast about how well i am running (very very unlikely). I'll also post my BR amount and general progress. I doubt i will post a graph because that's so embarrassing lame.
I'll post a pic of my two boys and where i live soon too so you guys can learn a bit more about me. I'll post a google earth picture of my house - i've always wanted to do that.
And occasionally i will tell a little story.
I have a little story about a guy called RUSH from LP.NET. Long story short - we end up playing against each other on 25NL the other night and i don't know him from Adam, when all of a sudden he starts bad mouthing me. I google him and discover that he is micro player and member of lp.net. He was telling me i was massive fish and that he was (contrary to appearances) a massive whale from UB that plays 5K NL etc etc. It was confusing to read on LP in his blog post of 17 Jan 2007 that he was taking the step from 5NL to 25NL and hoped he went well but then to hear that he would play me for my BR on UB with his thousands of dollars...
So a hand comes up in the midst of our war of words. I have AA and he has QQ. He raises pre and i re raise him REALLY big while telling him that he is a big donkey fish (sucker!!). Anyway the flop comes out K x x. I push all in. He says "meh" and calls off the rest of his chips.
Turns bring the Queen.
River brings tirades of "ahaha i own you - outplayed you there sucker - fish" from our friend Rush. aaahh good times!
So not 10 minutes later we sit alone on 600NL on stars playing for our rolls! (well his anyway).
Fortunately the only damage done was a little rake given to Stars and this was after about 30-40 hands. I'm glad neither of us got hurt. I have no idea why i did it - i wasn't even drunk... I guess i never expected him to turn up at the table in the first place - i hate it when my bluffs get called! So we beat our chests for a while and i think we came out on reasonably good terms.
And this is why my blog is called the bad beat. =] I played solid for pretty much the whole day. I was +$4.00 at one point, and then the bad beats started hitting.
I really don't think I played these wrong, and it's really frustrating to lose to poor playing, especially after playing conservative the whole day to NOT lose to bad beats like these.
I managed to cut most of my losses at the end, where I got AA and all-in'd pf. Some guy called me with JTs . trip 3's in the community cards gave me a full house for the win. So now I am only minus $3.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
I've also been wondering. I see all these people with $15, $20 stacks on the $5NL tables, and I'm wondering how I can play in order to make that kind of profit? Not all of them can be lucky fish, right?
Is it just a matter of waiting for a strong hand to appear and then raising to hell and hoping someone calls, or is there something that I'm missing here?
I've also been noticing that the players who have the large stacks are often really aggressive. I know that at higher skill levels, aggressive play is the strongest, but in $5NL, where half of the people are calling stations, how do you play aggressively to maximize your profits?
I started drifting away from Grot's guide in the past few days, playing more loose, more aggressive. It's working fairly well when I'm alert and playing my A game. But I feel like I'm splashing around in the deep end without really knowing what I'm doing. It's really disconcerting, trying to mimic the aggressive patterns of other players who seem to know what they're doing.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be up in the green. Today was pretty disappointing.
So February got off to a terrible start....I managed to lose $900 at NL50 on Full Tilt in 3 days. With a total bankroll of like $750 I obviously no longer felt secure at NL50 and decided to move to NL25 and a new site. Since moving down and changing sites it has been like printing money.
I plan to move back to NL50 as soon as I've built the roll back up to $1,250. I could play NL50 now, but I'd rather experience winning at NL25.
Since i wanna be cool i decided i'd make a blog as well.
Well i started playing 6 max in early january and moved up to NL50 3 weeks ago, been doing fairly fine, playing shitload of hands, getting massive rakeback and redeeming my pts for money on UB for more munies.
Here's my graph for this month so far, i had this huge downswing within 1k hands where i felt like shit, i think i tilted away some money there.. probably, i mean that's too sick to be only variance.
