Back on top by seweri, February 28

Top of my br that is! And I feel fucking awesome.
So I'm back to about $4k, just $10 short if I count my partypoints as cash (hooray for 2,5% rakeback!) and I'm not sure about what was my exact top br but I'm pretty damn close to it and I also have the $100 deposit bonus pending which is really easy to clear.

Played 2 sessions today actually, starting the first one with +2bi and then after a few outdraws and donkey-ish plays by my pals at party I managed to tilt. Even though the pots weren't big or anything. Bahh, still something to work on there. Anyways, after donking all my winnings and $70 on top I decided it was time to quit after only 500 hands or so.

I then proceeded to have a beer and play some pool with a friend and after that I decided to get back to the tables and get my money back. Which I did. And $300 on top of that. After I realized I was back to where I started my massive downswing I was just grinning like a mad man for an hour straight

So I hope I can sustain my current winrate at NL100, which is 7.5 PTBB / 100 over 10k hands, even though that's a bit unrealistic. But one can always dream

At this point I wanna give a shoutout to my pal Muhweli who has introduced me to poker and taught a lot about poker to me, whom I've given a hard time at times (when my br was bigger than his :D). And still he takes the time to comment about my hands and game, comes to my tables to play a 60/40 game and donk several buy-ins and just today helped me to get the PP deposit bonus as my whole roll was on party already. Cheers mate, appreciate it!

Quiting Pacific Poker (FINALLY cleared bonus) by PetrBlaha, February 28

Today I've finally cleared bonus at Pacific Poker so I can get out of this bloody place full of fishiest fishes that I've ever seen. I must say that if they would have more max tables then I'd stay there and continue to "print money" there. Tommorow I'm leaving to visit my GF until sunday so that 3day of cashing out from pacific poker won't hurt me at all.

Other plans? I wanted to go straight to 36% rakeback at mansion + that 100% up to 1000$ deposit bonus but there is apparently some bonus on PartyPoker so I'll clear that first.

Today I've run again pretty good if I imagine that 30 hours before I have 434$ then yesterday/today night I had 610$ and now I have 684$ then I must say its really good . 10 bi is nice and I didn't run extra good, it's just so easy there .If you don't run really bad you have to make money..pitty that 4 tables maximum

28th February 07
BR : 684$ (+80$)
stakes :0.10/0.25$

NL 100 again by DustySwedeDude, February 28

Today I hit 2k and moved up to NL100 again. People are really fucking bad on NL100 on unibet and even though I don’t think I’ve adjusted that well just yet I’m pretty sure that I’ve got an edge. I’m up about 77 USD after about one hour for 4 tabling and then I got outdrawn kinda hard, played a few hands bad and ran into people that reraised me allin when I reraised them pf a lot. One dude said he pushed TT vs my strong reraise with QQ pf for about 100bb but I’m pretty sure he lied. I would’ve called with KK there but I just don’t think I’ve got enough equity vs his range there to call even though I got about 2:3 to call. He need to push something like TT+,AK and I just don’t think I can put an unknown on that range, even though he kinda sucked.

Here’s a few hands:

Losers:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/152144 <- Suck that he outdrew me but and I need to learn how to reload between hands on prima.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/152145 <- Probably stupid.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/152148 <- I hate shortstacks
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/152150 <- - “I had TT” -”yea right”

Winners:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/152152 <- LOL

I also won a bunch of 50bb pots and stuff that wasn’t really anything special.

Ship it crucial by bigbb33, February 28

BR at $1540 or so, trying to play more hands. Feeling comfortable at 50 NL now, I've been taking shots at it since like November, though I was a huge bluffer/LAG/-ev player back then, so it's no wonder I wasn't able to move up and hold my ground. Anyway hopefully I'll be able to hold like 5 bb/100 or so, and if I do...

It will be $1200 or so until I take some shots at 100 NL, which means $1200/($5/100hands) = 240/100 hands = 24k hands until I'm ready, assuming everything stays at 5 bb/100, also I get rakeback + bonuses too. 24k hands at 250 hands/hour (3 tabling) is about 100 hours, which is about 3-4 weeks of playing assuming I get in 4-6 hours a day. So probably a little over a month. Yay.

Feb summary by Joe, February 28

February was a very good month for me pokerwise. I managed to continue doing solid on nl200 in the first part of the month, although I had several bad sessions and such. In the last week of february, I finally started playing nl400, which turned out to be a very good decision, because the game seems very beatable to me so far. Of course I have been running hot, but still, the level of competition is not very high.

I am also satisfied with the amount of hands I have been able to play. I played about 55k hands overall, which is very nice given I only play 4 tables most of the time. It translates to about 4 hours per day on average. I am not sure if I will be able to keep this amount of time up in the following months, because it was partly thanks to my broken arm and also because of school break, but I will do my best.

Ok, lets just go to the results:
http://joeik.sc45.info/img/joe/poker_unor.jpg

I have to state that this is definately way above my expectations and I am very satisfied with it I dont expect to make this much in the following months on average, but I hope I will be getting close to it. 10k/month would be cool.

As for the poker goals: I hope I will be able to continue beating the nl400 game for a decent winrate over the long run, 4.5ptbb/100 would be just nice, higher winrate would be uber cool I would like to get my BR big enough to be able to at least try the nl600 game in about a month or so and then decide, which game suits my style better. I intend to play one of these levels for quite some time before thinking of some higher levels.

Also, I plan on going to Vienna next week, to watch the Spring Poker Festival and maybe to play in some minor tournaments and destroy some cash games If someone else is coming too, just let me know and we can meet there.

Life's scraps by kantoiki, February 28

For all the people who actually wanted to read something decent, move on but then again you're reading through a blog on a poker site.. you're bored! perfect heh.

Thought i'd never do it, but i've finally cracked.
Need somewhere to vent the fustration i've been feeling lately, its like god is throwing me scraps and even then taking them away as i try to pounce.
So my inspiration to become a better pouncer after doing a google search:
http://www.reallyfunnypictures.co.uk/oddandweird/pics/23.02.06/fatbungee.jpg
and off on a tangent, i'd probably prefer to look like: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia...ionking.jpg/250px-Scarthelionking.jpg
i always thought Scar looked way cool.

Anyway, so my bank cheque is probably going to take another two weeks to clear, iPod will come whenever the hell it feels like it along with the Alessandro cans i ordered and Neteller will finally finish the fund trace its been running on my monies (currently 2 months and counting).

As for poker, nothing big happening, just keep staying around the same sometimes up 4-5 buy-ins sometimes down 3-4 buy ins. In order to counter this stagnant period i resolve to play more so i can get out of it quicker.

Oh and Uni has started, not that i've been yet. Missed the first three days and i have thursday off, total 4 lectures missed. Gotta get uni books and print out lecture notes somewhere since my printer has also run out of ink.
Yup when it rains it really pours
http://www.finseth.com/Bryce/Storm.jpg

I think the only positive thing i have to say all this has made me realised i don't want to be stuck here writing this so starting next week going to try be a lot more motivated in all aspects of my life.
Currently i have a bet running with a friend for who gets the best average for first semester and then second semester, this will hopefully provide some additional motivation.
Yeah i know the cynical bastards as well as just the people who know me are shaking their heads in amusement, so am i .

So heres to hope, and getting out of stagnant periods in life and of course more importantly to most ppl on this site poker.

Gravel Rally yay! by Baal, February 28

Well this saturday i just raced my first gravel rally and it was FUCKING SICK.

I almost ran over my dad in one ugly corner where he were taking pictures, i lost the car but i managed to spin it into the corner at the last second in a very violent motion, scary stuff.

Meat said they would give me a camera to record my future rallies but they didnt... :< bastards, it would be so awesome because this one really had some thrilling moments like when i went zig-zag trying to control the car while my co-driver screamed some shit like a girl :D

not many videos and the corner they picked was awful since it was a narrow and long corner that wasnt a good spot to show off at all...

As a few of you know i crashed the Audi TT cuz i were drunk... so i lost my glasses in the process and i had to use the most awful pieces of garbage ever.. they look ridiculous, plus i sat on them before the rally and they are bent :<, look:

The 2nd place on 2006 national championship decided to race this rally and oooooopps he destroyed his N4 Evo6.

The Best poker story ever written by Daut, February 27

So I just remembered a funny poker story I read. A few years back when a bunch of us were making little poker threads on a starcraft forum, this one guy came in acting like he owned the place and making all these ridiculous posts about hands he supposedly played in a casino. They were always totally outrageous and had weird nicknames for everyone in the hand.

Here is an example of one (it's pretty long but definitely worth reading):

Hello everyone, i have been visiting these forums for about 3 years, just never had the urge to post anything until recently when all the poker disccusion has come about. My name is Alex the Greek, or thats what everyone calls me at the hardrock casino and the dogtrack. I have never played a hand of online poker, yet ive been playing living live action for around 2 and a half years.

The highest ring game limits aloud in florida to people under 21 is 2-4 fixed, which doesnt give your bankroll much room for improvement unless you hit a fantastic rush. The average night of a session of about 5 hours i cash for around a 100-200, yet i know the softer games and i steer clear of the tables that are screwed down. Anyway i have noticed a couple high caliber players here, and when i mean a few i mean a few. anyway i will start posting the some hands here and would like feedback from anyone. I am always trying to seal my leaks. ok heres the latest hand i played in a 180 person 500$+50 buy in NL(only way i can play NL without going out to the boats and im not 21 for a year) Plus NL is by Far my most solid game. Ok here is the Hand
Blinds 10,000/20,000 ante of 2000 FinalTable

Jon Baacks: UTG raises 60,000 to go <---big stack at the table 580K

Tony Terror Tremis: folds

Jared Piazza: folds

Tiny tom:folds

unknown fish: calls (with hands shakin)

AlexTheGreek: KhJh I call i have 427k

rest fold to the button

Sticky Sam: sits for a while actin incredbly strong and moves his shortstack all-in for 150,000
(this guy just took a huge beat to jonny straight to the boat, so i knew he was either stealin and movin in with a desperation hand)

Jon:Re raises Sticks big bet to obvisously push me out of the pot. His raise was 250,000.

Unknown Fish folds slopily

Now let me give you some info on how jon plays. Ive played him heads up in about 35 tournaments and our paths have crossed many a time, hes loose and will bet suited connectors just like aces. So i put him on the holdings inbetween 9-Js, 10-Js, 7-8s, 9-Qs and maybe , i mean maybe AKs or wired 9's and below. BUT VERY unlikly for he wouldve moved in on me there.

AlexTheGreek: I start shuffling my chips and smiling. I ask, "thats not ganna be enough to get me outta this one jon boy," I proclaimed. "In fact jonny your destined to go broke on this hand" once again taunting trying to trying to pull him into conversation. "Your really re raising that much with just 4's" He proceeds to tell me hes got a made hand. I take a WHILE TO Call this, im almost positive my reads right and hes really weak. Then all of a sudden he asks for the fuckin clock to be brought out, now i know.

"RAISE" I EXCLAIM. Make it 300k to go jon boy, while i slide in almost 3/4ths of my stack
"Thats enough to keep you in right jon? in a cocky arrogant voice."

Jon looks disgusted: after nearly mucking his hand he reluctanly calls. usually i would take this as he has a monster, and my read was way off, but like i said i know this guy well enough to put him on a hand and decide a betting pattern suited for that particular situation.

The Flop

10d 8s 3d

Jon still looks steaming at this point. this is were i know i can win this hand with anything, i am going to use the edge of him being off his game for some reason or another, or maybe its because i have straight up outplayed this guy on many occasions. and the best thing about it is i have confidence oozing out of me.

Jon checks - Now this is not good.why not put me all in here??? i was almost sure hed do it and id call him instantly with K High, but now im wondering how far behind i am i in this hand

AlexTheGreek - this is not time for a bet at all, im 99% sure hell go all in and im beat.
Check!!!!

The Turn

4h

Jon: again he checks, now im baffled, because if he had a straight draw he woulda bet it at the less expensive street or check raised, therefore almost certainly getting a free card. Is this fucker slow playin a set of 8's even on a straight draw and flush draw board?? now this is a possibilty. Ok its time to stop bullshiting and find out where im at

Alex the Greek: 27k leaving me a hundred Thousand left. The thing i love about these bets in no limit they are sooo hard to see through and if he comes over the top i can easily lay this down and still have plenty of chips to work with since most of the table is tight and ive been pushing them around with ease.

Now this is were he went wrong. Its funny how even good players like him who cash almost every tournament in Tampa can make such dumb mistakes

Jonny BOY: gives me the weirdest look, puts his hands over all his chips and to my dismay he gives me the question ive heard fuckin a billion times, how much you got left over there Greek. this is a question that i dont feel obligated to answer, so i take my hands out of the way and the dealer counts em down. I give a smirk cause i cant believe how many tells ive gotten on him these past few minutes!and i also realize something else, how weak his STRAIGHT DRAW IS LOOKIN! ive finally narrowed it down to J-9cd Not spades or he wouldve been firing. My first analysis of startin hands was pretty on point.

Jonny Boy: Smooth calls.

Now at this point i cant believe it, but i know im ahead with just a K High, insane. and here comes the river down and dirty.

River

The Ace of Spades
Also known as Calamity Jane by all card room rounders
and boy oh boy did she live up to her name.

Jon boy:Without a thought of hesitation he moves all-in

by this time about 300+ railbirds are screaming people are goin wild, because this is by far the biggest pot played in the tourny and the 2 big stacks fire at eachother.(i was told this by my boy jared who folded pre flop, because all i saw and heard was jon and the chips getting splashed around the pot. NOW THIS IS A HUGE DECESION for all my money. of course im getting at least 8-1 8.5-1 on the pot. thats great odds but the payout for 10th is 1,500, but the money doesnt really matter. to me if it isnt 1st then its as good as finishing 180th. This is what i was debating, did he have the case ace? it took me only a few moments to rule it out after going through the hand twice. so this is what i said.

alex the greek: "Jonny boy, this might be the sickest read ever or you played this hand fuckin brilliant(i was warned for profanity AGAIN!) Jon, i got you sittin on J-9 trying to steal this pot with a busted draw. I dont have much of a hand AT all. in NL my ability to read people and put myself in their shoes is my god given gift. i made sure not to second guess my instincts and got all my money in there.

SHOWDOWN FOR SIDE POT 854k

Alex the Greek: Shows K high J kicker

Jon Boy: Shows J high 9 kicker

SHOW DOWN MAIN POT 450K
Alex the Greek: Shows K high J kicker

Sticky Sam: Shows Kc 9h

the crowd is awstruct or so i was told no body could stop talkin about how either i had a fuckin killer read on my opponent or im just a calling station who will cold call with K high, and the funniest thing was the biggest pot in the hole tournament won with a K high.

any constructive criticism is fine, im always looking for ways to improve my hand. i will be posting alot more. and yes i did go on to win the 22k 1st place prize as short handed and 10-1 chip ration was a walk in the park against everyone expect my boy jared. AND WHO KNOWS I MIGHT GIVE THIS ONLINE THING A CHANCE feel free to PM anytime or IM me

One of the guys on the forum, (i think his stars name is kimjongillin) decided to counter it with the following post:

Will somebody please read this hand history and tell me how I could have played it better? I'm always looking to improve on my hands.

It was a hot and dry day in El Paso when I played that hand in 1849. I'm not sure why I decided to return to the saloon, and once more risk losing it all; maybe it was boredom, days on end of seeing nothing from my porch besides hot, dry sand and desert lizards reflected in the rising steam. God knows where that steam came from. There wasn't water for miles.

I burst through the doors of The Broken Spoke holding all that i had earned from my 3 long months working on the ranch of Dallas Bill, one hundred and two dollars. I looked down back to my usual table: the usual suspects were at it again: Switchblade Joe, Tumbleweed Tim, Vegas Black, and Double Dee. Me? They call me Six-Shooter Sam.

I took my seat. The name of the game was $100 NL, the highest stakes in town. I shouted at the bartender. "Hey Lady, bring me some goddamn whiskey." Luckily, she had it. I would have taken horse piss. Anything to rid myself of the grit on the back of my throat.

First hand I'm on the big blind, and I look down to find the king of hearts and the ten of spades. Folds all around to me, except for Vegas Black who makes it three to go. I eyed him over carefully. He was a smooth one, that Vegas Black; unpredictable, like a cross-breed between a rattlesnake and a scorpion: you never quite could tell which way he was slithering, but one sting from him and men were pushing up daisies. Vegas Black was known in Texas to raise pots with any old hand, he could be sitting on anything from 2 7 offsuit to a pair of bullets. I saw a drop of sweat roll down my forehead and hit the felt. Vegas gave me a sinister grin. "Call." He urged. "I dare ya."

I called his raise. The flop comes 10 clubs, 7 clubs, A spades. Vegas bets out strong, $6, clearly trying to bluff me out.

"It'll take a lot more than that to get me out of this pot, partner," I said to Vegas in a raspy voice, my throat raw from the sand and the whiskey. "$20 to go."

Vegas lit a cigarette and sucked the smoke through the gap where his left front tooth used to be before he lost it taming Memphis, the wild black stallion that townsfolk rumored Vegas found at the gates of hell after getting shot by Kentucky Jack on the longest day December. "$50."

"I call."

The turn comes up, the Ace of diamonds. Vegas checks. Now I'm in for it. My pair of tens is looking worse by the minute. I check behind.

The river comes, the ten of hearts. Vegas checks again, settting his trap, except this time I can fight back. "I'm all-in."

Vegas looks at me and gives another wicked grin. He stands up from the table, pulls his pistol out from his holster, and pointing it at his own head says to me, "I raise you your life."

A lot of things went through my mind at that moment. My wife, my children, my future goals of saving enough money to move out west to california and strike it rich, but for some reason, I knew Vegas Black wasn't holding an ace.

"Vegas," I said, with shaky hands, pulling out my six-shooter from its brown leather holster, "you're a dead man." I pointed my six-shooter at my own head with my right hand, and flipped over K10 with the other. Vegas flipped over 88 and shot himself dead, in the middle of The Broken Spoke, on that hot and dry 1849 day in El Paso, when I made the biggest gamble of my life.

True story. No ban plz.

pretty awesome. ive been using the "i raise you your life" line ever since.

and not to go too long without posting awesome paint pictures heres a pretty cool one:

So my friend beth is a vegan, but she has a dog, Daniel, who is like this little hunter. He's killed squirrels, rabbits, woodchucks and even got a beaver once. Now being a vegan, Beth doesnt take kindly to the death of any animal, so she obviously goes apeshit whenever Daniel ends the life of a little woodland creature. So obviously I had to draw a picture about this:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/danielthehunter.JPG

As you can see shes pretty jacked so dont fuck with her. Or the dog for that matter.

cant think of a title by XeliN, February 27

soo i depossited $170 on ftp earlier today (like 4 hours b4 writing this) so far running well up about 7 buy ins, they seem even worse than on stars but this is only from a tiny bit of experience of the site.
So BR now is 242 and im +72 for the day. did a side bet with PRO_rANDY a friend from brood war and one gay sex session, $10 to see who can get to 500. his roll is like 250 or something and i agreed when i was at 170 but i think i can progress quicker than him through these limits just because of more experience of them but who knows. i was considering trying that 10BI rule move down at 8 just to atempt to progress faster as i feel im good enough to not need to stay at under 100nl in order to gain experience. i decided not too i dont have the patience or the control to pull this off and its lack of control that has hindered me from going anywhere in poker so far (e.g once i was playing 25nl a while back with about $940 lost like a $60 pot and decided to take my roll to a 1k NL heads up, lost with 1010 vs KK all in postflop of something like 349). was gonna post some interesting hands or questionable ones but i dont really wanna go sifting through my hand historys anyway thats me so far.

100NL, monitor etc by JYang, February 27

im still seriously running like shit at 100NL

it's becoming so fuckin frustrating now, -400$ for the day

--------------------------------

im really frustrated even tho my new monitor is awesome

the lcd is the v77 22" widescreen lcd r22w02. only $260 at buy.com (250$ when u use google checkout) free shipping

i tried to fit 9 tables with it on both stars and full tilt. it works excellent on stars as everything is really sharp and readable. But on full tilt the text is kinda like fuzzy and u can barely read the pot size. i guess that's more of a software issue b/c it worked fine on stars.

either way the monitor is some kinda bugged? u can actually set resolution higher than listed on specification, but the monitor won't be sharp. so it's kind of like only for 1680x1050, where other resolutions are look really choppy.

i also have to get used to the brightnes b/c i been using laptop to play for so long.

here's a look at it, i have a shitty webcam =/

beware the limper by lil.sis, February 27

so i stopped playing for a long time and haven't really felt the desire to start again, all-in all i've logged maybe 6 or 7k hands in february. i only play when i feel like playing which is surprisingly less often than usual. i decided to play 50 since i was fed up of 25 even though i was slightly underrolled (15 buy-ins) and luckily ive been running red hot for the past two days. i can only pray to lee that my luck continues.

the girl i was trying to date turned out to be an annoying superficial bitch. i had no idea women could suck so much. but then again she's a rich long island jew. i.e., the antithesis of a poor texan catholic. we had no chemistry. to think i wasted my time at the museum.

"i love pollock. i can really see how he became part of his paintings"

"yeah he's pretty awesome" (wtf is this ugly shit?)

I dont want to talk about art. Art is not funny. Art is not interesting.

so if you read a couple of posts ago (the post titled "drunk") i mentioned meeting a chick at the bar who was really cool and had a nice attitude, not particularly good looking but i enjoyed spending time with her. well it turns out she is good friends with one of my best friend's girlfriend, and i made a good impression on her too so ship it. set up a coffee date for friday, tentatively.

the only thing that bothers me is that she's having knee surgery tomorrow. and if i've learned anything from poker it's this:

beware the limper

http://www.nga.gov/feature/pollock/lavendermist.jpg

pollock sucks and his work is shit. art lovers suck my nuts.

Too easily distracted, destroys poker. by legendofxix, February 27

So I had reading week and I was supposed to be reading (yea rite, like there was any chance that was happening) since I have about 3 midterms this week (1 done, 2 to go).
During reading week I actually found time to play poker and it was a couple of okay sessions.
I realize that I get distracted very easily when I play poker. Since I dislike opening a whole horde of tables I tend to play 1-2 and browse the internet (and lurk on LP.net) while removing chips from fish and donks on PS.
So as I was playing I found this link
Funny Answers to Serious Test Questions
Just reading this made me laugh uncontrollable and make me auto-fold a few good hands (I lost AA and a QQ! BOO!).

This amused me so I thought I'd ruin some of you people with ADD as well

Back to studying...
[UPDATE] I just found this
Wii Smooth Moves
This has just interrupted my studying.

I've run through hell to see heaven #2 by PetrBlaha, February 27

If I would have regulars, they would be curious why I didnt post for 10 days. So let me summary last days.

With my shiny BR of 640$ I've continued to play those NL25 cash-game tables full of donks @ mighty pacific poker. But Mrs. Variance and Mr. Luck decided to play with my BIG ego and confidence. I've run into many bad beats for about 3 days straight, it was like I couldn't find a way and hand with those I could beat my opponents. To make things even worse I went 2 tables nl50 which luckily I very soon realize was a MISTAKE and after losing 40$ because of (again) bad beat I GTFO. I didn't want to start to tilt (which I had to already) + I didn't felt like playing poker at all, at BR mark of 420$ (-8 bi ftw !) I've decided to sto playing for while and let of some steam by playing Broodwar and some Dota + w3 (how could I beat lvl19 when I played if for third time ? lol ).

Today armed with couple of

and

I've started at 5PM CET to play again. Now its 1 AM CET and from BR 434$ I'm currently at 610$ but I'll keep playing for a while because mr.Red Bull won't let me sleep for a while.
