Learned a valuable lesson the other day by gawdawaful, March 03

Ended February on a high note, and since I couldnt sleep thanks to a couple of red bulls during the day, I decided to play from 4am to about 8am. The session started off ok, flopped a couple hands and picked up a buyin or two. Then a couple suckouts + colddeck/setups put me on tilt for 3hrs. Lost 6 1/2 buyins in total to start off March

Lesson learned here? Dont play without sleep, dont play when on tilt and dont play when playing your C game

You'd think it takes me less than 18months to figure those out eh?

Holding up the fort by novaballistix, March 03

well yesterday there was this guy that was completely on tilt and kept rebuying at one of my tables. It was really funny because he would all in on the most weakest hands ie 72 and still pull through to win the pot with pair 2's. This went on for an hour or so...it was hilarious. By the end, each person on the table had at least a $40 stack (it was 10nl) and the average pot was around $13.

Im now up a couple buy ins at $185.36. I may move up to 5/10 cent blinds once i hit $200 and then 25nl at $500. A long way to go!

I need to stick to $4 180 sngs because I prove to be most successful in these games, my roi is almost 200%. Ive made over 3k in mtts but have given some back, still a decent winner so ship it. I go on ventrilo whenever Im on the comp so hit me up whenever, Holla!

10nl& 25 nl by freakzin, March 03

oké 10 nl was all good didn't play that well =p but when i had +3 buyins i took a stab at 25 nl

and i saw the sickest shit ever
i even lost flopped flush vs runner straightflush(inside) in a raised pot.

i lost alot of toppair topkickers and my huge pairs got sucked out on the river by their kicker or them making trips

i still ended up winning .
100 $ 2500 hands 8.25 bb/100

Doing ok by seweri, March 03

Played a session of little less than 1600 hands today and it was ok. Could have been better if I hadn't made a few mistakes and if some hands would have held better

This was annoying, 2 hands vs the same guy
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/153696
The raise is a bit loose from utg+1, but I like the way I played it postflop. I thought he didn't have much of a hand and just tried to push me out of the pot. Turned out I was right as he folded when he was getting about 3:1.

3 hands later and this hand comes up
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/153698
I thought he might be steaming from the previous hand and 4bet pushing is something you rarely see so I though AK was good. Oh well :/

Shiiit I'll summarize rest of the session and post some hands later now I'm off to play a live game with some friends and of course a few beers might be drunk there.

Running Goot by TheTrees, March 03

So I started SH with $780 and got up to around $1325 pretty easily. I just started spring break and my goal was to make 1k this week from 25NL since I have a shitload of free time. So far i've ran +500 in two days only playing 6-7k hands.

25nl progress by PokerDoc88, March 03

So I moved up to 25nl with my fresh $500 roll, and played 2k hands there yesterday. Finished the day with $680.

Today was going pretty average, up 3buyins over 1k hands, then I hit a bad run where all my flips vs shorties lost (or got sucked out on by lower pps).

Most annoying hand would be AJ, I raise it up and get 1 caller. Flop is A 6 9 r, I bet 75% pot, he calls. Turn is J, completes the rainbow, I bet 75% again and he calls. River completed some funky backdoor straight draw (not that I care), so I shove the rest of my stack in. He calls and flips 66 for bottom set. Meh.

Currently playing, sitting on $713...I was at $770 earlier but meh, that is poker.

My updated poker story! by Xervean, March 02

A long time ago I made a thread called my poker story where I introduced myself to the forum... I decided to update this because I think it is therapeutic in a way and im going to begin blogging.

It all started in June 2005. I was playing starcraft and world of warcraft for my games of choice at the time. One night I was browsing a starcraft community site and there was a post by current 25/50 regular Rekrul. In this post he detailed his poker career up to that point. I was absolutely amazed by the amounts of money he was making. So I did a google search for poker FAQ and began playing the play money tables. Soon after I decided to get brave and deposited 25$ and lost it all in one night. Then the next day I deposited 50$ and lost it all once again and the same day I deposited 50 yet again and lost almost all of it and was left with 3$.. then I ran hot and ran it up to 100$ in about a week and thought I was a poker god. So I decided to go with my friend and play live at the casino. The game was 4/8 fixed limit and I remember being so nervous my hand was shaking when I flopped a set. I dropped about 200$ that night but I still somehow thought I was good at poker and was just unlucky.. So the second I got home I played online on megatilt and went broke. Around this time I made a trip to barnes and noble and bought every poker book that had good reviews on amazon.com and read them all. Now I thought I was really good. So I deposited 50$ and ran it up to 200. My friends got together one night for a home game and I got bad beated some how and went home on tilt.. signed online and went broke again playing highstakes (I was a fixed limit player at the time). I remember my introduction to no limit hold'em well. It was on the 4th of July and I played 1/2NL at the casino which at the time had a buy in cap of 100$. After all was said and done I took home 200$ profit and thought I was the greatest player ever. So obviously the next night I returned and had a really bad beat and then went on mega tilt. There was a rich guy at the table and we both agreed to go all in preflop blind. I did this 4 times and lost every time. This was a pretty bad night for me and I was out of action for a few weeks. So I read a lot and I still had 1.67 on stars which I managed to run up to over 100$. At this time I read harrington on hold'em and re read the no limit section of super system. And I started playing live again and went on a sick run where I won every session for like 2 weeks making like 50-100 a day. I decided to really try and follow bankroll management now and deposited 500$ on pokerstars to play 25nl fully bankrolled. One day I was in the casino and waiting on a table to open and went over to the big game (2/5 NL with no cap on buy in) Amarillo Slim was playing (I live in Tulsa and he was building a golf course nearby or something) So I just had to sit down. Bought in for 1000$ almost all of my bankroll... folded for like an hour basically watching these guys run crazy bluffs not caring about money raising each other 400-500. Then I get KK and raise 50 get re raised 250 and I move all in and get called... he flips over AA and I lose pretty much all my live bankroll. So I decided to give up on live for a while and stuck to online. I was a breakeven player at 25nl for a few months and i finally decided to take like a week off in december and just really read everything I could on poker forums etc.. Then when I came back in mid december It just kind of clicked. And I went from 500-1000 in a week then moved to 50nl and was running so hot I was at 100nl within a week and had close to a 3000 bankroll by christmas. Went on a little downswing to 1800. Then I decided to play live on new years and I won 700$ and the next night I returned and won 400$. With my confidence restored I returned to pokerstars with a vengeance and ran the roll up well over 4000$. I stuck to my limits nicely for a while and joined cardrunners and my bankroll was up to 7k and I cashed out about 2000 and everything seemed great. Then one night I was running bad and my friend messaged me and said hey Elky is playing 3/6NL lets go shortstack and bad beat him! My friend goes broke really fast but I run my 120$ minimum buy in up to 1500$. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me in poker. After this almost everytime I ever ran bad I would play highstakes shortstacking or fullstacking trying to make it back on one hand. Over the months that followed I lost... rebuilt and lost again countless bankrolls ranging from 2k-10k. And I mean COUNTLESS. The only way I managed to survive was I would cash out 2-3k and keep a reserve bankroll in my banking account. Usually I would deposit 1k and build it up to 4-5k then have a 5 buy in downswing go on tilt and play 10/20nl vs H@LL or someone HU and lose it all. This process continued until august 2006. I put 2k on and VOWED to stick to my limits once and for all. I got up to about 3k took down a tournament then built up to 8k playing 1/2.. then had another nice tournament score and played 2/4nl with 12k and ran it up to 25k. I cashed out 10k in november and moved out of my parents house and paid all my rent and bills off for 8 months. Then I took down another nice tournament score online and kept playing 2/4 and winning... so I had about 25k on stars and life was great. Then one night in december I had a relapse and was down about 5 buy ins after some sick beats... and I saw some weak players sitting in a 25/50 table. So I joined and won a few thousand and then Empire2000 sat down. And I decided I was gonna leave since he is a really good player. But before I could leave I pick up an overpair and he busts me with a set. And I go on mega tilt and join 4 tables of 25/50 and proceed to tilt off 20k in about 30 minutes. This left me with about 5k online... so the next night I joined 25/50 again and actually got some revenge on empire2000 stacking him with QQ vs AJ on a J high flop. But a few nights later he got my entire bankroll. So I put about 2500 back on and lost all of that tilting 5/10. I decided to take some time off from poker after this. So in jan 2007 a friend of mine who is a 5/10 and 10/20 player (and lpnetter) offered to stake me 3k for 100nl if I promised to send him my hand histories and stuff so he could make sure I wasnt playing over my bankroll. Within 2 weeks I paid him back twice what he sent me. I thought I was a new man... but I went broke 2 days later same story. He refused to stake me again saying that I will never learn unless I grind up from the bottom playing lowstakes until my fingers "bleed".

And this brings us to the present. Looking back I would say I have blown well over 100,000$ that was won from small to med stakes games and mtts. I have SERIOUS tilting issues that I am trying my best to overcome. If I wasnt a huge degenerate retard I would be extremely wealthy and be living a wonderful and carefree life. I am so greatful that Brian Townsend joined cardrunners. In his first video he said that "you need to take responsiblity for your results. Because at the end of your life when you look back at your poker career your results are based off your decisions." When he said that it just really hit me so hard, and I realized I am exactly where I am not because of bad luck but because of the decisions I have made. My dream has always been to play in the highest stakes games on the internet and be over bankrolled. I know I have the ability to do this, the only thing holding me back is my anger, greed and impatience. I am currently playing 25nl on pokerstars and will be moving up to 50nl very soon. I have decided that this will be my absolute last time rebuilding a bankroll from nothing. Im ready to focus and take responsibility for my results and begin seriously analyzing my play after every session. I have decided to start a blog where I will set goals and post my results day to day... I think this will help keep me on the right track.

Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed hearing about my fucked up poker career lol

STAY TUNED

(edit: Also Pooruser has taken probably 10k+ off of me HU when im tilting highstakes... I felt bad leaving him out)

5-10 bitches! by SakiSaki, March 02

Being semirolled for 5-10 I decided to take a shot at it, since the weekend games on partypoker are really soft. The jump from 3/6 to 5/10 feels like the biggest one skillwise so far. You dont see many people going really out of line anywhere, but players still have some leaks that are really exploitable so hopefully I will do fine. Im happy to say that I think I played my best poker ever in my second session on 5-10 today. I made some really good calls and some well timed bluffs, and I cant remember one big mistake througout the session so thats awesome.

Here are some cute hands from todays adventure:

Made a good read, but I seem to loose these flips alot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/153300

Pretty satisfied with this calldown. Owned.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/153314

Im in such a ket run right now. We should make sidebets on how long i last until i crash and burn and have to grind 25nl. Awell, ill enjoy it while it lasts. My stats for March so far:

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7697/zomgte1.png

In other news, I would like to promote a game me and my friends play alot. I know most lpers are starcraft whores but you should still try it out. Its like a RTS mixed with an awesome FPS. Two teams, beasts and humans play on a map. One player is commander and sees everything in RTS mode, like from above. He gives orders n shit to the rest of the players, who run around on the map in fps mode. Imagine it like starcraft but with each unit being a real person playing. The teams tecs up to better units and weapons etc, its pretty damn baller. Even better, its free to download now since the sequel is coming out soon.

check it out, heres the link:

http://www.s2games.com/savage/index.php?page=savageindex

Having this cold has its upside, this means I can play alot in the weekend games on partypoker and hopefully that will mean more profit. YAYE!

Tjing!

Surfing with lady swing! by capaneo, March 02

So I decided to move up to 400nl. But since I was playin 9max before and 9max games are harder to find at higher limits I decided to get back to 200nl(6max) and try to give it a try and pick it up for 5k with the condition of playin 12tables! So I woke up early yesterday and today and play some long sessions and oh boy do I swing like a motherfucker! be the judge the graph is down here.

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l273/capaneo/swingiee6max.jpg
I blame the ultra high variance on my donkey tilt play. People at 6max are soooooooooo terrible compare to 9max people that makes me go on tilt. Whoever thinks 9max is easier he is dead wrong. People at 6max call basically anything. I can count the number of times people called me with gutshot and caught at my 200k 9max sample. But here at 6max games I get called by gut shot like CRAZY. Its actually pretty normal that now I totally consider gut shot draws and slow down as the board fills up a gut shot draw.
Anyway I try to be more aggressive postflop and try to think hands a little bit more which is gonna be tough while 12 tabling(6max)
Watch this spade for updates!

but I'm raking HUGE amount of VPPs. by 12 tabling 6max I got around 12k this month ONLY in only 2 day!!!!

Luck? by Xsho123, March 02

I don't know if I should say that I am lucky or not. Was watching football (soccer) then it comes half time, so I went into my room and decided to play a little bit of poker to kill some time. Went to the smallest stake possible and played some 6max game, got this

http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/458d25b6m...cd/__sr_/9edescd.jpg?phgrK6FB8CgMFvwi

I now believe pokerstar is rigged as well! LoL!
This is a fucking joke, three times poket bullets! And in 4 hands as well. Just the time that I don't fucking need them, I can run over those 5nl people, as if you don't realise pokerstar! This is just fucking great! Use up my fucking luck so I can get my usual bad beat at normal stakes which I usually plays on.

Anyway, been playing a fair bit lately. Went up like 30$ then I just couldn't stop myself from playing in the tournaments and lost most of that. At this rate, unless I hit big in a tournament it will probably take me one whole year to move up one single limit. I just hope I can control myself for the whole of this month from now on and actually see how far I get up in pure cash game.

Updates by sooon2b, March 02

I decided not to do the 100k challenge. It would really be a waste of my time when I can certainly beat the 2/4 game. I decided I am just going to wait till I have 50 buyins for each level. So, I will instead just be grinding 1/2 until I hit 20k. Hoping to get to 2/4 before the months over.

Tonight I am going on a date with my grandma. We are going to some party together. Should be awesome because shes the most amazing person ever. After that I am hanging out with my friends. This girl is going to be there that I met last night too. She seems really cool, and shes pretty cute. I hope she likes me or something, thatd be sweet. Would help me get over my ex sooner(rebound ftw).

Today I made about 750 in a 1k hand session at 1/2, which is nice. Good day so far, hopefully a better night.

Peace

new blog by novaballistix, March 02

i'd say im quite new to poker and this community. I played for play money for a couple of months, then was able to sell some for some pokerstars $$. Since then ive been quite fortunate and ive been increasing my BR ever since. Since Jan 07, I started to play seriously, trying to get in more hours and experience. I was able to hit a all time max of $400 at nl25, but that broke through and i went downhill ever since (mostly due to poor play). Today is the beginning of a new era, as I begin my new blog, i hope to improve my game in this community...

My current BR: $135 and increasing!

february was shit - so is march so far by SneakrFreakr, March 02

February was a very bad month. I was running bad and playing mediocre as well (fancy play syndrome etc). I ended losing less than 1 buyin in about 30k hands so together with rakeback I'm actually up a bit.

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4003/22ui9.jpg

I took a break in the end of February and watched some CR videos, analyzed loads of hand from my PT database, browsed LP, 2+2 and CR for a long time and I was hoping to get in shape this month and book some solid winning sessions from the beginning. And so I did - yesterday I won like 3 or 4 buyins within 120 hands. Then obviously I got some coolers in return but all in all i won 3 buyins in 1,2k hands. Today I was hoping that my run will continue but instead I had one of the worst sessions ever. I got four 2-outers, two 3-outers and a runner runner flush. I'm not even counting how many times I lost against 6-outers, coolers etc. Actually I wouldn't be suprised if I lost 10 buyins in this session. I made some mistakes as well but they definitely didn't cost me 4 buyins. But I'm going to analyze the whole session deeply anyway.

http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/4310/33rh8.jpg

I've noticed one thing. At the beginning of the session (for like first 2 hours) I'm always playing more agressive. When I'm getting deeper into session I'm either getting distracted or lose concentration and my stats go down to 18/16 or sth like that. I really need to work on it as I think it might be one of the things that influence my winrate (which is below zero at the moment so I'd rather call it loserate). I finally got rid of the fancy play syndrome though which is great. Now I've just got to wait for my rush and I hope I'll start killing nl100 on ftp, prima and party (need to deposit again there). I was pretty pissed off after I finished this session (I wasn't tilting though) but now I relaxed a bit. What could I do?

I'm going to continue playing as much as possible for the next two weeks as I'll be pretty busy for the second half of the March (my mum and brother are visitting me in Manchester and I'm going to Poland in the end of the month). I hope I can finally get back on track and start winning regularly. I think I'm still lacking confidence after a pretty bad month but I'll get over it. I still have a very safe roll for the stakes I play so I don't have to worry about it.

I'm not posting much cause I'm trying to play a lot and I've been going out too much as usually. But I hope that I'll be able to reduce it to once per week. Oh the good think is that I got to Manchester Metropolitan Uni. They accepted me on all the courses I applied for (business with placement, business, international business). I've got no idea which one should I chose so I'll have to think about it. Any suggestions? I'm still waiting for a response from Uni of Manchester (and I'd prefer to go there) so keep the fingers crossed guys.

I'm going to cook some nice dinner and probably play a bit more poker later (or watch some episodes of Coupling - very funny UK tv series - check it out on www.tv-links.co.uk)

Goals?? by TalentedTom, March 02

A lot of people have asked me "Tom what are you'r goals?"
My response is always "uhhh" Unfortunatley I am not a very goal oriented person, recently I'm trying to play 2-3k hands a day and have been successfull at this for a few weeks now but nothing too specific. I'm not gonna do anythign retarded like "100k in 100 days" because that's stupid. So I imported my old blog and glanced through it and realized - I NEED TO PLAY MORE HANDS. I wanna be able to do 4-5k per session, and over-all at least 100k hands/month. Money goals do not matter because I can sustain a decent win-rate and if I put in the hands the $$ will come.

So I'm going to give this some serious considerstaion this time and see what I can make of it.

Poker Break and Casino Whoring by Critterer, March 02

So ive had a really bad run of bad beats setups and just about every fish hitting their outs against me in poker. It happens but i decided to take a bit of a break, havnt played much poker in the last week or so at all, my roll is currently at $500 which means im still just about rolled for nl25

I'm gunna move my entire roll over to FTP for rakeback and deposit bonus soon, but for now im gunna try my hand at casino whoring~!

Trying out Yukon Gold first, since the bonus is a 100% win win situation, although chance of mass profit is minimal itll give me a good insight into casinos etc. Then ill move onto some bigger bonuses~

Will post here to keep track of it~!
