| | Poker Weekend by iop, March 15
So this weekend will be a weekend with lots and lots of poker. On friday we will have our traditional afterwork with beer and poker in our office. More than half the company plays poker, so we usually play a mini-tournament with 30 people or so. I've played in it twice, getting 3rd and 2nd place. Afterwards people like to play cashgames too.
On saturday I will be competing in an offline poker league in Sweden called "lagpokerligan". That should be a lot of fun too. I will also try to play online the whole weekend. I am going to cashout out my whole roll too after this weekend, so lets hope for a good poker weekend . We are in the lead in the Martins Poker League. We beat De Knjiff and Thuritz team last week. Today we're playing another team called "Skåne" - Omaha time. I still haven't made my debut yet, but I will probably play next thursday!
On a sidenote, I am going to have to start playing omaha, so if anybody has some simple guidelines I would be more than thankful. I'll play the $1 sng's just to get the hang of it.

| | Another losing session weee by Critterer, March 15
down 2 buyins over ~1k hands
I'm really pleased with my play however. I do genuinely think i played very solid throughout and this caused my losses to be very minimalised.
So in one respect it was a good session, but then that doesnt make u feel that great when ur losing everytime u get ur money in as an 80% fav to win.
Hopefully i can find a heater soon or im heading towards break-even-overall-land.

Sometimes I wish I didnt have to sleep... or day was 48hrs or things were slower or i was faster
university sucks, days go so fast... I know my projects are piling up but I still do all other random things...
I come to this point where I have shitload of work now, and I dont know where to start, so instead I just go for a run and come back with such a nice high feeling(running in cold weather is amazing), but the work is still there.
Why am I writing this blog if I have no time... just to avoid getting started on my work.
you know what im talking about, you have been there.
anyways, I dont seem to have enough time for poker, or when I have time I am tired and I dont really want to play tired.
but things are good in few hands that I play.
Going to new zealand soon so I need to make some cashouts but I want to move to 100nl soon. I have tried it a bit and im up like a buyin over 1k hands, but 50nl is more fun and relaxed I guess.

| | Discouraged T_T by SakiSaki, March 14
Uhh, havent played a whole lot of poker the last few days. Played some yesterday and everything went to hell. I didnt feel right from the beginning of the session and after getting flush over flushed twice and loosing some medium pots/coinflips I instatilted away one buyin before having the decency to quit with my dignity somewhat intact, but my bankroll suffering a -7k
To be honest I was sort of expecting this to happen. The last week I just havent felt like playing poker at all, and Im in a real crappy mental state when I do decide to play. I just havent enjoyed the game at all lately which obviously shows in my results. This has many reasons, but I think its to be expected. I have dropped out of school and havent done a whole lot but play poker for like two months which obviously wont work out for me. Starting sessions has also become a bitch lately. Game selection is alot harder to practice on 5/10(and also alot more necessary since there are tons of decent regulars just trading cash with eachother everywhere.) Its just so anoying to not be able to open up lobby and instantly load up 8 profitable tables.
I would prefer to have money on like 3 sites and play 3/6 and 5/10 where the games looks juicy, but this becomes such a hassle since
1: I dont have a huge fucking bankroll for 5/10 yet so I dont want to split it out over more than maybe 2 sites.
2: Due to retarded taxlaws in sweden I dont have to tax any winnings made on a site with its base in the european union, and since I prefer not taxing my swingy profits I need to play on some retarded cryptologic site or whatever.
I have my financial situation sort of covered already so Im in no real rush to play tons and tons of hands. Im going to take a break from poker for a couple of days and do other things. I might play some donkaments and maybe try to sattelite into the WSOP which would be awesome.
I truly believe that you need a balanced life to be a winning poker player, and its really necessary to do other stimulating things except playing and thiking about a cardgame all day. Hopefully I will enjoy a couple of days of reading books, working out and playing the piano and if it all goes well I will be back at the tables tearing it up in no time.
meh, now this turned out like a long rant post about nothing at all really but w/e.

| | NL50 since March 10th by jonyy6788, March 14
Yeah I haven't played too much lately...school has been ridiculous as of late. I really hate it with a passion, but there are only four weeks left in this term. I hope to be at NL100 by the time this term is over.
BR=1813
Here is graph...I don't really like all the spikes at the end. One of those was KK<67s in a FOUR BET pot. Ghey suckout faggots. Then I tilt called 1/2 of a stack on a FD+gutter against same villain. Decided it was time to quit then and there.

i think i need to see a hypnotist so he can make red my favorite color.
i'm going to boston tomorrow for st. patrick's day :D with two of mis mejores amigos
the weekend will be spent in a drunken stupor
i need to recharge, regroup.
despite my cold run and my tilting today I feel like I am a much better player than I used to be. I just need to be better about playing in less than optimal conditions, i.e. earlier in the evening so I'm not tired, and making sure i'm playing my A-game. when my a-game is on i feel i can dominate the stake
good luck to all of you, and see you at the tables on monday

Good news everyone, after a fairly good start with +1 BI I went down pretty quickly to almost -3 BI today just to make up for it and get a total of almost +4 BI up at the end of my session.

I don't remember any key hands, but had some suckouts and made some bad calls. As for the graph of today's 3,175 hands it ain't looking too bad imo.

Other than that teemu and me decided to play in the 5$+R 25,000$ guranteed but the whole thing got cancled after Pokerstars went down for some time. Then we played the 10$+1$ freezeout 15,000$ guranteed and both busted due to bad timing.

| | Back down to 50nl, but not for long by bigbb33, March 14
Okay, time for an update. Last post (a week ago) was about me just starting 100 NL on FTP with about a 2100 BR: I did so, was doing okay, some suckouts, some bad plays, the usual.
Anyway a weird thing happened last Saturday/Sunday: I completely lost my poker skills. It was like it was a few months ago, I wasn't sure what to do in what position, even though it was very basic, I was making terrible elementary plays, etc. I played a little more 100 NL in this state, dropping 2 buyins and my br down to $1800 or so.
I snapped out of that and moved down to $50 NL again, this time on PS because I was getting brain fucked on FTP. As before I'm killing 50 NL, and my BR is now back up to $2150. This time I'm going to wait until at least $2400 to take shots at $100 NL, though: i don't feel comfortable playing with 20-21 buyins and knowing I have to move down if I lose even 2-3 buyins.
I'd give a graph but I can't get poker grapher to combine my PS and FTP records into one graph, so it's a bit pointless.

| | A bad day's afterthougts by Joe, March 14
I just finished a very long session, one of my worst ever. I lost about $4,100 total in the end playing NL400 and NL600 combined. At the peak I was down about $5,500.
Really pretty sick day. I hit like no draw ever, when i had overpair or TPTK, they either folded or when not then they always had a set and mostly it was in a BoB war so pretty inevitable.
Of course I didnt lose all of it just because of bad luck, I also played pretty poorly, which was caused by the constant suckouts. I am trying to think of the factors that made me do some bad plays and analyze what exactly was caused by it and why.
There is one thing that borders me a lot - when I am down and not running good, I always start to make plays here and there without really thinking if they are +EV, I simply just want to win the pots and get some money back no matter what. In almost 100% cases it causes me to lose even more.
I also start to be much more suspicious and when I finally get somewhat a hand, I sometimes tend to call river overbets just because I think they are bluffing me. I would have no problems pitching those hands if I was running good, but during a bad run I often make retardes river calls.
Although I fucking hate this session, I will try to get the best of it and think more about how to avoid doing the retarded mistakes I mentioned while running bad. I really think half of my loses could have been avoided if I played my A-game.

| | playing in ub by Xsho123, March 14
I have decided to stop playing in stars, because my bankroll had dropped and stayed the same for quite a while and it always freeze for no apparent reason these days.
It was a long time ago that I put my deposit my money in ub and didn't bother to play it at that time because of how slow it is to clear the bonus. I come back a month later and I understand why I left, this must be one of the more annoying bonus for people to clear.
I am going to make sure I finish off this job before doing something else, hopefully make some money along the way without the bonus and rakeback. So far, it has not worked out. ub doesn't do "you are new, lets give you some good card" and I am getting pretty stuck on fr, luckily I am running better at 6max.

starting 50NL tommorow on UB. Just hit the 2k mark which means i've been running well. I can't wait actually, if I can do well on 50NL before the summer I might be able to reach 100-200NL over the summer. Cheers.

Halfway to $10k about halfway through my challenge. Got a bit of work to do before Spring Break though, so tonight might be my last good session for a while. Prelim exam tomorrow night, traveling back home Friday / hanging out Friday night. Going to NYC Saturday for St. Patty's day, leaving Sunday for skiing in Vermont.

| | Yeah...I ran hot by tae-g, March 14
I have a Chem II test and a Diff Eq. test tomorrow, so I've been studying a lot lately with not much time for poker. I sat down today to play a short session for fun just to appease the addiction a little. 12 Tabling 6-max "fast" tables is a bit like trying to keep your APM at 300+ for a whole BW game, but it was fun/funny because I ran so amazing hot over so few hands. Have a look:

| | Fifth/Sixth/Seven... etc. Poker Session by AntonChan, March 14
A group of friends and Tom came over on Monday. We were supposed to chill but since Mike wanted to play... we did lol. Up until that point I was winning pretty steadily. Not too bad, but Monday, even with Tom there we managed to lose a lot of buy ins. He made some stellar reads, but Lee didn't like me that day. Eg. Twice this happened with AK. We pushed all in preflop and guy hits an 8 with 83c, another hand guy hits two pair w/ 69... lol wtf!
I played 3k hands yesterday and today and I finally noticed what I'm doing wrong. Tom taught me how to play position and how to take advantage of the position, however, I'm looking at my tracker and I'm actually NEGATIVE in both Dealer and First position. That's where I usually make all my moneys. I tend to have a greater variance now since I'm playing hands like QT in position... I'm not going to do that anymore because my reads are shit and I know people take advantage of it. LOL at my shitty bb/hand and positional play hahaha:

Even after these stellar hands I still ended only up 1.5 buy ins... which meant that I was seriously spewing a lot

| | Baluga theorem by DustySwedeDude, March 14
Baluga Theorem - Is this shit too weak-tight vs a unknown or is it a good rule? I tend to pay people off too much so I don't really know if my "wtf AK with TP without QJT on flop is teh nutz"-reaction is good.
Also, if someone has any good ideas about how to get into the right poker mindset after a losing session or two it'd be great the hear them.

| | During current Hold'em session you were dealt.. by TianYuan, March 14
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3927/weeeeeee3nx9.jpg
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 764 hands and saw flop:
- 68 out of 133 times while in big blind (51%)
- 33 out of 138 times while in small blind (23%)
- 110 out of 493 times in other positions (22%)
- a total of 211 out of 764 (27%)
Pots won at showdown - 32 of 53 (60%)
Pots won without showdown - 84
+80$
I'm good son.
+ Like 200 hands I played before I reset the counter.
Stars froze or who knows how high I'd go!
I sucked out HORRIBLY on some guy, almost felt bad. I misplayed the hand kinda horribly (obviously intended to set an image, although I think I overdid it, badly) and of course I make trips on the river.. Yea.
On the other hand, I lost a lot to rivers with AA and KK so I guess it evens out! Funny how my KK has a higher win % than AA in pokertracker :D
