Long overdue update by Critterer, May 08

Hmm, well, ive barely played poker over the last 1.5 months. I just got bored of it really. But, now i think im ready to restart playing again.

Over the last months i've played some sit-n-go's and some tournaments for varied results. In the sit-n-go's i generally did well but the sample size was too small to mean anything, but then i just fed my winnings into MTT and lost the majority in those. Came 3rd this week in Liquidpoker weekly which was more due to flukey luck than skill but hey still happy with that one, bit disappointed in my final table performance, shuda done better considering i had a big chiplead entering the final table, nevermind. Busted out with QKs vs my AQs but i let myself get way too low on chips so nothing to complain about there.

Signed up for titan promo thing so thats a free $50 to add to my BR effectively.

So, my BR is currently almost $600, slightly under. So i'm rolled to play nl25 but i may jsut play some nl10 to get back into the swing of things since im not confident on nl25 yet (break even over 15k hands), i consider myself to be a winning player at nl25 but ive ran very poorly and so my winrate has been tiny/break even.

In other news the latest heroes episode was shit:

tilting and worst day ever... by SneakrFreakr, May 08

So I played a morning session on nl200 and ran pretty bad again and dropped like $700. No huge beats but ultra cold decked etc. I was playing quite good, not tilting. The cards and opponents weren't just cooperating. I decided to play a nl100 session in the evening and I chose to play on FTP. So I opened 6 tables but the soft is pretty slow so I opened 2 more. This alone was a mistake since I was planning to play 4 tables for the rest of the month. But that's not all. I was still kinda bored and I decided to lag it up a bit and was playing like 30/25. I got bad beat once and started tilting.. After like 20 minutes I also tried to make a bluff on the river when 150bb deep which would be pretty good if I had a normal image, not a maniac one.. After this hand I was down $300 and switched off FTP immedietaly. I'm really pissed off now. At myself. Not because I dropped $700 on nl200. Not because this is my worst day in poker (-$1000). But because I was fkin tilting. I thought that I got rid of this problem but unfortunetaly not. My discipline really sucks.

My roll dropped to about 5,5k so it's no that terrible but I'm going to get back to nl100, at least till the end of this week. If on Monday morning my roll will be above 6k I'll take another shot at nl200 - and if I drop to 5k I'll get back to nl100 again. What do you think about it? 5-buyin shot is anough or should I give myself more "space" for the usual swings when I move up?

The only thing I'm glad about is that I switched off FTP immedietaly after I realised that I'm almost tilting like crazy instead of trying to win my monies back by playing like a donk. I'm really going to try to work hard on my discipline and hopefully this situation won't repeat in the future. I don't really know why it happened this time. I was only 3,5 buyins down for the day and like 5 buyins down total after moving up to nl200. I think it's just the fact that I was afraid that it's gonna be like 3rd unsuccessful attempt to move up to nl200. But it's not an excuse and it shouldn't happen for sure. And it won't in the future. Meh, I feel really ashamed. Me stupid.

http://www.brillianttv.co.uk/timmymallett/images/worthing-bashthedame.jpg

I also cashed out all my monies from FTP cause their software is so tilt-tempting. In the last 2-3 months I tilted like 3 times and everytime it was on FTP. Plus they've got these very tempting HU cash games but like a month ago I told myself I won't play them in the nearest future and I'm gonna stick to it. So no I've got my roll on PP and i4 and I'm gonna play these sites exclusively. I might give FTP a quick shot if they give my reaload bonus soon cause they've did it once not long time ago when I cashed out everything.

Ok enough of that shit. No more poker today. Time to relax a bit and watch some tv series etc. Oh, and remember - do not tilt.

A little bored... by Gawuss, May 08

Damn, a long May-weekend ended. I have to go to this fckin school now. God I hate it so much. I wish I could stop the time in the sommer to chill every day to the end of my life
Actually May was pretty boring so far. I was at only one party, didn't get drunk but I've mixed beer and vodka so I puked and it was not funny :/
Poker isn't going my way too but it's not that bad actually. I'm only down like 2, maybe 3 buyins after 5k hands. The graph looks like this:
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r98/gawuss/maygraph.jpg

I think I play good but I still make some mistakes. I have to focus more while playing and don't let these noobs tilt me
I sometimes can't believe how stupid these players are and they still win money from me. I've deposited few buyins on Unibet and I have to say that I've never seen such a horrible field ( but I still can't win much money there obv...I'm getting used to its software ).
I think thats all for now. I'm just waiting for June...and then I'll be free (only for 3 months tho ). Amen

P.S. Maybe you remember this program (Poker EV or somthin) which JonnyCosMo was writing about a month or two ago. If you have an installer plz PM me !!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188688 - normally I’d play this a lot more aggressive but this dude just never gave me any credit.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188690 - still no credit.

winning back a bit by SneakrFreakr, May 08

So yesterday I played a lot of poker. I was playing only 4 tables but I played for like 6 hours so it's good that I'm finally putting more time into poker. I ran pretty mediocre yesterday but still managed to win about $650. Here are some hands:

1. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188630
I'd really like to hear opinions on this one. So firt of all villain was quite a big fish . He was calling down pretty light, bluffing in the wrong spots etc etc (some time ago in this session I stacked him w/ KT 125bb deep on 2T3T3 board - dunno what he had though cause this shitty software doesn't show mucked hands). In this hand I think that he's calling flop and turn with any J, straight draw etc but on the other hand he also loved to slowplay big hands (sets, two pairs, straights). What do you think about turn? Is betting obligatory? What's our plan on the river now?

2. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188620
I started picking up a bit more on opponents' weakness. On turn I knew that he either has some shitty pair or a draw so I raised him up an fired again on river.

3. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188621
Here's just some random ordinary hand. I think I still like my turn bet a lot. First of all I'm preventing him from floating me OOP, I'm protecting my hand against a flush draw and I can even get some better hands to fold. 3 was a good card as I knew he wouldn't call me with 3x on the flop as he was kinda solid. Thoughts?

4. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188624
I'd really like to hear some opinions on this one. It's not a very interesting hand at all but I was thinkin a lot about this river spot. Basically the pot is $64 and he's betting just $20 so we're getting 4-1 but we're hoping for a split only. So we're putting 20$, hoping to win $32. So the odds are like 1,5-1 so we need to be right like 40% of the time, right?

5. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188629
Villain was a fish you really want to see at your table. He was calling down pretty light, bluffing in terrible spots and would never believe that someone is betting big with a huge hand. Ship it.

6. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188619
So basically all I was worried about was a busted flush draw with a king. He'd bet more with a very strong hand.

7. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188632
Meh, I should've let him bluff at this pot with busted FD or sth probably.

8. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188633
Definitely not standard but we were like 200bb deep and first of all I wanted to control the size of the pot a bit and at the same time he was tilting a bit and he loved to bluff when anyone has shown some weakness. So I took a risk and gave him a chance to outdraw me but I still think it was a good play. Thoughts?

9. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188635
Very basic stuff. Are you raising this turn or just flat calling? What range do you put him on after leading such turn card? Villain was unknown but seemed semi-decent. Not good but not awful.

Ok, that's it for now. Time to watch a CR vid and play some poker. Hopefully I get be in the green on nl200 after today.

And a random photo of Paris smoking a joint:

Team Poker leagues by iop, May 08

So I'm still playing the Martins Poker league and we're in first place in our group. So hopefully we can reach the finals and go to vegas and win the €20,000. I can explain briefly how it works, you play against another team (8 people in a team, 4 get to play). So you start off with 4 heads up matches, everyone plays against everyone in the other team. Then you play a SnG, and you play a 128 person MTT. This all takes about 6 hours. The goal is to get more points than your opponent.

http://www.fuskbugg.se/pub/misc/lagpoker-martins.bmp

The other league is a live poker league. Basicly a 60person MTT. 4 team mates play, and you are never allowed to sit on the same table as a team mate. We need to get to the final table next time to win the team poker:

Dusty and Saki - Hands down to you guys
I was in Uppsala last weekend where Sakii and Dusty study, a swedish holiday called "Valborg". That shit was craaaaaaazy. I actually have no idea why we vikings celebrate this, but I know that the social democrats like to demonstrate when we are hungover, i'll post some pics. In my next update. Oh and I turned 22 on sunday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY DRONE and )ls(honest.

stakaments rd2 by shaw67193, May 08

so i finished my first stake. here's the deal.

$150 for two weeks on absolute. i was supposed to (at my own decision) start at $6 sngs and $5 HU. around the 250 mark, i'd move up to 10+1 sngs. what actually happened, however, was that i ran like shit. i bubbled a good 50%, lost the majority of flips and 60/40s, etc.
HU helped maintain some of the br (incl a 12-1 session against one guy, lol), but i was pretty soon down to ~$60. so obv the best choice here was to move up to $10+1 .
long story short, over the last 10 days, i get the br back up. i ended it at $350, netting a $120 profit for my staker and $80 in my pocket. 80% return after only two weeks = good for him, imo. so we decide to restake, now with 50/50 split.

i had two minisessions today, 0/3 in the first, then 3rd, 1st, 1st in the second. i decided to keep track of my stats for this one, so hopefully i get some kind of valuable insight.

so tonight i should be studying for my first of two finals.
instead, i'm playing some stupid donkaments.
the $5 1am $1500 guaranteed went like this:
double up early. fold 31 straight hands. get AKs in sb, face all in from cutoff. decide the range at this level is huge, rrai. bb instacalls. cutoff shows KK, bb shows AA. gg me.

then the $1R 2am $1k guaranteed is like this so far:
first hand double bi all in with KJs manages the ez against A7o for a 4bi stack. then i proceed to get AA 4 times (!) in the next 17 hands. and i hold up 3/3 then steal blinds the 4th time. running goooooot.
the rebuy period ended 15 mins ago, i'm currently 21/178. first takes $326, so i think i'll just win.

jk 17/170 now. hit a set, like 3/5 doing that with limped pp so far.

************edit

i'm trucking this $1R now...1st/33. this raises a good question.
when i asked the staker about getting restaked, i asked about 50/50 split since i figured he'd go for it rather easily...i forgot to mention that i wanted tournaments to be excluded from the stake...i'd pay for them from my own br, but he doesn't get a cut.

of course, now there's a good chance i'll take home >$50 from this $1r...i figure i have three options.

1. tell him about the results, tell him what i meant to propose, see if he goes for it (and maybe still offer a small %)
2. don't tell him and quietly cash out these winnings
3. tell him about the winnings and chop it up, business as usual.

now i know this guy irl, we play in a regular game offcampus at school. the stake and restake were both established fairly casually. we're on good terms (ex when we set up the first stake, i offered 70/30 split in his favor and he countered with 60/40 ), don't hang out outside of poker unless we all go to the diner afterwards or something.
#1 i think is quite viable, he plays much higher limits online, seems like he'd be pretty reasonable about this.
#2 seems shitty on my part, and i'd feel shitty as well. but if i win this, 60% of 326 is a hefty sum. there's always the chance that he finds out, too. all around, seems bad, bad, bad.
#3 would be dumb if i didn't try #1 first.

i guess i'm pretty much settled on #1, then. thoughts?
obv no matter what, we'll figure out something solid for the future afterwards.

and if anyone cares, down to three tables on absolute, the 2am 1500 guaranteed $1R. 1/25.

Congratulations Elky! by Daut, May 07

Elky is the first supernova elite on stars. Not really a surprise because elky has more stamina when it comes to poker than Peter North on crystal meth, but still a sick sick accomplishment in just over 4 months, especially when he is traveling to WPT and EPT events.

Anyone who knows elky knows that his favorite place in the world is the Spearmint Rhino. I, along with many others, hope that one day elky can win the main event of the WSOP so he can buy the rhino and lead it to more glory than it has ever had.

What most people haven't realized is that elky has an odd resemblance with his friend the rhino.

If you dont believe me, check out the following photo shoot:

visiting vegas, 200 nl by Big_Rob_48, May 07

So I am going to be going to vegas with my brother this coming weekend... and i got a question... I am only 20 years old, will it be easy for me to play some poker? I am going to use my brother's passport cuz he is only 2 years older than myself, so i hope that works, should i have any problems? And i play 200 nl, where should i find games that i should play in? I assume there is some Myth post about all this probably.

Anyway, I have been playing 200 nl the last two days.

http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/2083/may67hc0.jpg

I think the reason for these great results is three things in order:

1) BARELY ANY REGULARS - which play somewhat tricky and can outplay me in certain ways which sometimes leads me to tilt...
2) NO TILT - no regs, readable players, and running well
3) I'm getting better (hopefully, haha)

And oh yeah, what to do here 3 handed against Frinkx, i figure this river saved me or screwed me:

POKERSTARS GAME #9797347171: HOLD'EM NO LIMIT ($1/$2) - 2007/05/07 - 16:51:26 (ET)

Seat 2: Big_Rob_48 ($434.40 in chips)
Seat 4: FrinkX ($201 in chips)
Seat 6: Alex Lauder ($375.65 in chips)
FrinkX: posts small blind $1
Alex Lauder: posts big blind $2
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Big_Rob_48 [8h 8c]
Big_Rob_48: raises $6 to $8
FrinkX: raises $18 to $26
Alex Lauder: folds
Alex Lauder is sitting out
Big_Rob_48: calls $18
*** FLOP *** [5h Qd 5s]
Alex Lauder leaves the table
FrinkX: bets $38
Big_Rob_48: calls $38
*** TURN *** [5h Qd 5s] Js
FrinkX: checks
Big_Rob_48: checks
*** RIVER *** [5h Qd 5s Js] Ad
FrinkX: bets $137 and is all-in
Big_Rob_48 said, "eek"
Big_Rob_48: folds
FrinkX collected $129 from pot

Alright, thanks for reading. Be safe with yourself.

worst fish ever !! by all_in_4tw, May 07

this afternoon there was the juiciest table i ever saw on UB.. 2 lagtard fishes with a 700$ and a 1000$ stack. unfortunatly i coulnt catch hands on that table and couldnt win their money (ended -200$)

the 1K stack was running extremely good playing some of the worst poker i ever saw.. but at one point, all his luck stopped and he managed to lose his whole 1K stack in 2 minutes !!!!

those 3 hands happenned in 4 hands at the table:

hand1
hand2
hand3

he then went on stone cold tilt... going all in almost every hand. I was finally able to win a hand here:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188292

but he managed to suck out in that other all in preflop

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188293

he won some money back with some insane luck again:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188297

but obviously lost it:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/188302

i could have won a lot money on that table with a hot deck.. better luck next time i guess..

Also i had my biggest bad beat ever today:
82% to win a 650$ pot =(

Less time, more money? by anon, May 07

Poker

On my last blog post i was telling that i need to change something. And actually did, now i play much less poker, just few hours a day, more if i feel like playing. Strange but now i tend to win more than i used, when i was playing long hours. Since the beggining of the month i am up 2262 over 10K hands, yes i played only 10K over 7 days, while before i used to play this kind of number in 2-3 days.

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/1460/aaiv7.jpg

Now i am back to 9K br, i feel happy about it since i was down to 5100 at one point few weeks ago. It's strange, i feel/play better, more concentrated when my sessions are short(1~k hands). So now i try to play short sessions and during the peaks only. It helps me to have a lot of free time and fine winnings. I am not sure if i will keep on playing like this, i feel like putting more hours once i finnish my exams.
Also i was not satisfied with my stats of play 17/13, i thought they were really nitty, but now i think they are fine since i play 8 tables. I tried to play less tables(4-6) and maintaining a higher stats, it is easier when you play less tables, and make better moves against certain players. So if i ran 18/14(8 tabling)i would be satisfied. I think i do not raise enough on the button.
One thing about poker makes me very happy, i finalyl managed to get all my money out of UB, jesus crist, they can put you on tilt with their support and dumb rules.
So for poker i would be very satisfied if i could mantain 3bb/100 rate. I just want to pass 10K, then i will probobly take the loan from bank for my own flat.
I might get my rakeback soon, and i will get it to Pokertars, around 1k. So i will play here some.

Not much to add more, i hope i won't run like shit again and i will be able to fully recover from my downswing.

i hope i ll become a luckbox someday ! by PplusAD, May 07

Okay so basically i lost all my remaining 50$ in SNG
and i ll take a break of pokering for 1 week now.

I lost a 11$ SNG I busted at # 4th
TT vs AQ

I lost another 11$ sng busting # 5th
KK vs A2 ( he hit a straight)

I got busted in some 1$ and 2$ SNGs
losing AJ to 97 on a AJ9 flop ( he hit trips on river)

then i finally managed to do halfway decent in a MTT
and reached the final table
I decided to make a video to see someone happy after i lost all the fucking other tournaments.

here is the video

I get KQ on a JQQ flop
since i need the chips i check to get more value out of my set.
The turn is an A which is not too bad.
SInce there was no preflop raise i am rather sure noone has AQ,JJ and therefore K10 is the only reasonable hand to beat me (QJ is very unlikley imo).. I go all in on the turn since i hope someone hit the A and thinks his 2 pair Aces and Queens are good enough to call.

Week 2 - Going Good! by MayZerG, May 07

This week has been fairly good... but very frustrating to say the least. I have been going up and down like a yoyo, building a good bankroll getting a few buy-ins everyday and then losing them to a few bad beats or bad plays.

Hopefully i will stop making mistakes when i come to higher limits to prevent any downfall i may come across.

Weekend by fishsticks, May 07

This weekend I went to down to NYC to visit friends. Saturday we made a run to AC and played at the Borgata a bunch, which was fun - but I ran poorly and didn't play that well either tbh and ended up like -$50 for the session. Oh wells - still a fun time.

Anyways I suppose I finished up $1200 for the week, going to look to get back to the grind today and start in on a new week.
