I underwent the worst week of my life on the felt last week with numerous bad beats, followed by many borderline calls.
-27bi ds
now, back on NL10 grinding back to NL25
This time around I'll be playing 40-50bi deep on all limits for extreme comfort
my first official run as a cash player went well, took some shots at NL200 and feel I know what I need to do to make it there to stay.
Mad props go out to doomer for all the assistance, next month we'll doomswitch all the locals @ your casino
--Update--
My BR is now 500 from 3200, I also lost some BI $ with multiple 10R's that I failed to cash in, as well as one of the nightly $150's that I went out just short of the bubble..
After running in such a way, I almost got stuck in reverse, and went down to NL10 to work out any obvious correctable errors in my game (I began spewing chips too much after I lost $2,000-$2,500, and lost another $400 foolishly like a "tilt monkey", hence the title..)
My BR management was definately not up to par during this DS, I could have cut my loses many times, but decided to attempt to make back the loses during losing sessions, which only further worsened my situation.
Obviously I'm still a novice when it comes to the pitfalls in poker, and have to work on my control in many areas, as well as deepen my thought process hand to hand.
Soon, I will clear my $650 bonus as well..
I think another 3,000 hands or so
I hope to be fully rolled for NL50 by the end of the week ($2,250 - $2,500)
Learning to play perfect poker is tough..
Hell, Rome wasn't built in a day
The mission continues to become a NL100 FR winner ITLR, and then the mission to NL1000 begins.
I guess this should carry on from my previous blog post. After my -11BI swing in 3 days last weekend, I called off poker for the rest of the month for myself. It was only 4 days of abstinence, but since I'm so damn weak and addicted, I only made it through two days.
On Wednesday (no class), I had a +4BI afternoon session and felt great. But the night session, I managed to lose all of it back + some more. I was playing like my same spewy self, which I'm not too happy about. Heres the graph for Wednesday http://www.sitefights.com/community/art/gawdawaful//wednesday.jpg
On Thursday, after getting home from class at like, 6:30pm (gay) and had some food, I was flipflopping between playing 25 or 50NL, and 5 or 9 tabling. I ended up going for 9 tabling 50NL on my desktop as some sort of stress free fun. The session started off well with some moron donk donating to me. And then I got coolered I think, went mad spewy and dropped a couple BIs or more, on stuff that was absolutely preventable. After that, I buckled down and just tried to grind it out (hand 1300-2100, break even) After that, I started running mad hot and people started making plays at the most horrible time (for them). I ended up winning about 9 buyins over 4k hand session. http://www.sitefights.com/community/art/gawdawaful//may31st.jpg
The first of the two above graphs = my desktop stats for the month. All 50NL. The next one is my laptop stats for may. A mix between 25, 50 and 100NL.
Fast forward back to end of May. After the big session, I tried to get some sleep. I have another midterm on Tuesday so I was hoping to get some studying in on Friday. My plan was to study 90mins and pull a 90min session. That did not happen for several reasons. First off, I managed to get absolutely zero sleep. I flopped around in my bed for a couple hours, the whole time not being at all tired. I got up after that, played on my DS for a bit, and hopped on my laptop in the name of "studying."
I started off by going over some notes while having 2 tabs cued to youtube on different songs (that I have to manually look up and let it load while on pause since my internet is slooww) This obviously didnt last very long. At about 3:30, 4ish, I was moderately tired so I tried to sleep. But, to no avail (thanks to the 710ml bottle of coke I chugged during "studying"?) I gave up at about 5, came back on my laptop and went on music.download.com and cued up some songs on the player there and started a short session at 100NL. The session itself went well. I started off by being coolered set of 6s vs set of Js, and made a couple good laydowns prior to that in pots where my hand got royally fucked. I think something like top 2 turn completes 4 to straight + flush. I played for a couple hours and won about $160?
After that, I grabbed some food, took a shower, and went out to school to "study". Theres a 7/11 very close to the campus close to where I live (my school has like 3 different campus locations) and bought one of these bad boys. http://www.joltenergy.com/portals/0/skins/wetplanet/images/jolt_homepage_08.jpg
I had the silver one as usual. The thing is something like 130mg of caffeine, which kept me going for awhile. At school, I ended up downloading music for about a hr. Did another lil bit of notes, before getting bored and quitting. That was all the studying I did all day, maybe 30mins worth.
I kept having to piss all day because I drank way too much liquids to keep me awake. But lets move on.
After this, I packed up my shit and went wandering through the mall. The Surrey campus (the one near my house) is located in/by a small shitty mall. The mall itself sucks, what I like is that theres a food court. So lunch was a tossup between dimsum bun type things, or poutine. I opted to go with the poutine from New York Fries. Great choice. The girl that made it for me looked very disinterested in her job and didnt smile at all. Stupid whore. Anyways, she packed the fries like shes supposed to, added the mystery cheese on top, then came the gravy. mhmmm So I took that and started working away at it. Only then did I realize... some of the fries were cold, some of the fries were hot, the cheese was barely melting, and all in all, the thing was just grossssss. (dumb fucking brain way to go) Never getting poutine from NYF again.
My afternoon consisted of more poker of course. Long story short, my major heater continued, netting me about $400 putting me up about $560 for the day I think. After the session, it was time for home. Nothing left to do at school and I was about to crash. The bus ride home was crap, I was lucky enough to get a seat but there was tons of people standing and stuff. Crowded shit. I crashed on the bus and fell asleep for the whole 20min ride or so. I woked up just before having to get off, sick timing.
First thing after getting home? More poker (in the basement where its cool). That session I went up another buyin and stuff I think. After that, dinner, and another session lol. All in all, I was up just over 8 buyins yesterday. Bringing my running total in the two days to about +$1350 roughly. Ship it! Heres the graph for yesterday http://www.sitefights.com/community/art/gawdawaful//yesterday.jpg
I went to sleep at 12 and just got up a couple hrs ago. 11hr sleep!
Yes well I have played 12,725 hands on 50nl at a loss of $306. I decided to remain stalwart or should I say stubborn and use the 20 buyin rule, meaning I still have a security net of over 4 buyins. I don´t know how that works out, I think it must be due to deposit bonuses I´ve earnt.
My opponents are such that you find yourself tempted to get in at every oppertunity - ie they are really really bad - but it has been difficult to find a balance between value-shoving, and overplaying.
Baal said it best, obviously and simply, "incest rape bondage ftw!". Wait a sec, I can´t find the right quote. It was something like, "if they are calling allin a lot, but you don´t want to spew by accident, the obvious inbetween is just to value bet every time."
I leave you with an absolutely unmissable 2-minute scene from some show called "The Apprentice", courtesy of my brother..
..and some complimentary Japanese upskirt TV.. cheers Brendan =P
I decided to write now instead of sunday because today was an exceptional poker day for me.
Upswings
Great mindset, having fun in playing, bad enemies (prob on alcohol /drugs), somewhat good cards = Good run .
I began the day losing 200$ or so, some boring poker on NL100 6 tabling. I even went on to play some Partypoker tournaments and sit n gos heads up whatever, cuz I was so bored... Took a break, hook up with girlfriend and then it stroke me : Lets 8 table on 2 screens! TZAS, I did it, and it worked wonders!.
I was havin so much fun I won 1.1K, so I won a total of 900$ (not over yet!, i will 8 table 1 or 2 more hours after this, but after that I have to go to class).
By far my best poker day (well except when I won 600$ from a tourney, thats a close second).
Feeling good, 3 betting with a wide variety of hands and people seem so afraid of being 3 bet they either fold pre or fold on flop vs my air to a c-bet, basically having tons of fun toying with my cards and playing somewhat unortodhox leaning more towards reads and tells and bet patterns rather than my actual cards(prob somewhat LAG, i was always TAG). The more I won the more casual I could be with my play, since my bankroll wasnt hurt so much with big bets and I wasnt scared of making a big bluff.
I realized I can now categorize a lot of villains more accurately and also read hands and bet patterns better, just very confident right now and even if Im just on a heater confidence is always good.
Running on 9.10BB/100 hands on NL100, but just with 5K hands or so played. I guess I wont move up to NL200$ until I reach 6K though, will follow everyones advice.
Br : 4K
Downswings
Im at a major downswing in my studies at the university. I made up my mind now that I wanna keep studying + playing at the same time. Wont put the studies on the background anymore, I think its very important to study while you are young and can act like a sponge into new ideas and knowledge.
I will be moving out from parent on June so, I hope things keep going like this for a while
Play good at the tables, if you are getting sucked out, you are playing great!
The first day just ended and I have achieved the %64.21 of the titan points I need to mantain my Silver status. So I have 29days to achieve 7684.32 points... I think I can make it. Making it to Gold would be great.
Soon to be in NL20
I want to reach a $500 bankroll to hit the NL20 tables. I gave it a shot yesterday and ended up $30 but still, I need a higher bankroll in case I get stacked. I expect to be in NL20 by Monday.
I can now post my may graph now that I am not suffering from a mental breakdown.
Seeing as how yesterday was my last day of May, a pretty good month, I wanted to make the best of it. End with a bang, etc! Was going fine, then saw myself losing, no problem. Skipped class that night to play more. Kept playing, and playing, and playing. Played 4000 hands yesterday, which I think is like my second largest single session ever. Some typical stuff included KK vs AA three times for ~275bb total, AA vs sets twice for about 200bb (one situation was avoidable though, imo), etc etc. Some graphs for you guys to laugh at:
That big ass drop at the very end of my session was probably one of the more ridiculous coolers ever. I mean, he was ahead on every street, but considering I could've saved quite a bunch of money had I not 2 outered myself, I consider it pretty brutal (deep stack too!)
Played a bit today, looking to recuperate. Got a bunch of my loss moneys back, mostly because of this gem here. He could've totally gotten away. Quads vs weak overpair :o
So concludes my May! I think I'll be staying at 100nl for another month or so, because I want to be able to just start withdrawing without caring for my bankroll size. I do want to be multitabling 400nl by the time summer ends though.
My last day off high school is on wednesday. I plan on playing a lot more this summer. Ive really been taking poker seriously the last couple weeks and it shows in my bankroll. Here's my latest graph. Ive been playing 6 tables of nl10 6max. Started with 200 and am now over the 500 mark. Plan on moving up to nl25 with 700.
this month i've played 32K hands so about a thousand hands per day. i wish i had more time to play T_T
this month was my best one ever even thought my BB/100 went down quite a bit since i'm playing 200NL. i could start 400NL now but i'll wait until i can get a higher BB/100 over a large sample. i also want to play overrolled from now on.
biggest rakeback as well, a nice 1050$ is coming my way<
i'm also happy about the way im handling swings. i had 3 downswings of 1K or more this month and it was not affecting my game much. i also had a session with a -500$ in 2 minutes swing and i was able to finish in the green. i'm pretty sure i didnt tilt once during the month! (or almost )
I recently lost a ton at 1/2, but will be putting in a session today, hopefully I run nicely to start off the month of June. If not, I'll be forced to move down and retackle NL100.
Either way is okay, I just hope that I play well and don't make any foolish donkoffs!
No more:
- bluffing into shortstacks when they are "pot-commited"
- big pot, big hand, small pot, small hand!
So May sucked, ended -1k$ over 27k hands. Good thing is I did order a chip set and 20 inch monitor from PS FPP store.
Hoping to do better next month. Two months in a row no profit = me going to move my roll over to other sites to collect some bonusses etc. Lets just hope I get a nice heater going though and head on to NL400 soon.
