Playing well and running well. Hopefully I can keep it up for the rest of the month
Hands (Comments on any appreciated)
meh, probably picked a bad spot to make a play against a bad player; w/e, note taken
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/207042
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206793
really didn't think this guy would take that line with a flushdraw, so i figured he had air; i was kind of right =0
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/205338
this guy was such an overaggro monkey
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206086
gross spot against a standard 200NL LAGtard; i was actually going to call until he said "draw" which lead me to believe he had a strong hand

another hand against overaggro monkey

| | NL20 and BR update by sTrAtO, June 06
June 5th is over. A great day for me in poker terms. Felt like playing really good the whole day and now I'm playing at NL20. Took naranjitO's advice and hit the NL20 tables with a $400 BR (20buyins) and it was the same as playing at NL10...
Won 5buyins in my 2nd session of the day and my BR is now at $502.
http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/6464/titanpoker5junio2rp1.jpg
Started the day at $313 and finished with a $502 bankroll. So as for today I won in total: $189 .
YEY!! :D:D

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Best day ever:
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7419/june52kep9.jpg
Was actually even slightly better than this, total was +$2,135.95. Anyway, my huge ass beginning of June update didn't post for some reason, so I'll just update in a couple days. Basically, before today June was a ton of hands and little profit (well, win-rate wise, that is). However, today was just pure sickness. Got really frustrating in parts, but I made it to $2k! Hands to come tomorrow. As is, I'm well on pace to shatter my 75k hand and +$10k goals, but we'll see if I can keep up this amount of grinding.

| | Another Good Session by getsky, June 05
I put in a 1000 hand session tonight. I started at NL50 and got up 4 buyins pretty quickly. Then I started doing stupid things like always. I managed to get back to being up 2.5 buyins, and decided to take a shot at NL100. My roll was around 800 and the plan was to drop down if I lost 2 buyins. I've played NL100 alot and feel as though I can compete pretty well there.
won 1 buyin pretty quickly before calling it a night.
Couple of hands
Hand 1
Fuck I am stupid..dunno wtf I was thinking here. buddy overbets the flop, and I have 2nd pair.. I think I am ahead so I call. Turn..he overbets again.. I still think he has air, so I SHOULD have called to see what he did on the river. BUT like a fucktard, I raised allin..possibly thinking to myself I didn't want him to hit an A or something I dunno really. He cought 2 pair on turn. meh
Hand 2
I raise it up in the CO w/ 910 off. I get min raised by a new guy at the table. I call obv b/c of odds. I flop top pair and cll him down every street. STUPID. I put him on a big hand with his min raise PF.. I think calling the river was just dumb as fuck..wtf did I beat? only a bluff.
what do you all think?
Hand 3
Nice little bluff on the river with 6 high. I put him on a FD. Good ?
Hand 4
Raise 23 off on the button. Get a shorty to push and 1 caller. Flop 2 pair..gotta go with it.
Hand 5
4 betting light rules !!
I have ZERO history with this guy but I just felt he was bluffing me because of me having the button. Probably stupid, but that's me
Hand 6
Finally... another DUMB FUCKING MOVE by me
I 3bet garbage out of the BB thinking SB was stealing... I continu to bet flop and turn whith AA on board. ASKFDSDKFJSD I suckhttp://img176.imageshack.us/img176/6572/june5sessionxj4.jpg

Down 3 buy ins in 4,000 hands. I played a little bad and then again some suck outs by players, but what can i do. Only 1 hand was a little interesting today, jesus christ, tell me that u think on the call, and i never get out of line 3 betting from the blinds, very rare that i do, but what hands can he beat really? anyways, tell me what u think about http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206885 . Not the best start for my $20k goal. On another note, my gf found another picture to add to my collection, even know the insults are going to flow in from you guys, so anyone going to comment on the picture "fuck you" in advance.

| | NL50 by NeillyJQ, June 05
Woke up feeling pretty beat after last nights session, and started the day off with some of the 350FPP/500FPP SnG's for the $216 tickets. Was going well in both but busted in the FT in both, one AQ vs AJ - didn't save the HH, and this one.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206757
After this, I finally downloaded Ventrillo which I've planning to DL for months but just been to lazy, and went over an in depth 2/4 session with DooMeR, as he was pretty much crushing the fields.
After obbing his session for a couple hours, I needed to play, a game where I would be challenged and play my best.
NL50 it was, and although the session didn't last long because I had to leave, it went well.
Here are the key hands I played today;
vs Hochmagandy - Don't even ask me what the hell this idiot was thinking, I put him on 55-99 on the flop, his range opened alot after he called my turn bet, but still felt like I was ahead, then a 5 hits on the river and I need to shut down...oh well, I guess I want him calling me here so w/e.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206816
vs Jrokk - isolating the weak limper - low flop comes, led the flop to take it down from any air / weak holdings villian was holding.
Turn I pick up FD and feel like hes weak, he checked instantly, I picked up 9 more outs and feel like he'll drop any low pp here, as well as 67 and maybe some other weak pairs. River I hit gin, VB the river fairly strong.
I was fairly lucky in this hand, but he could have definately folded his hand on either the flop or turn imo, I don't feel like this is the correct way to play this hand everytime, but vs weak/tight opponents I think its fine.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206818
vs Jrokk again - This is the 3rd time in the last 20 minutes or so I had isolated Jrokk, and I could tell he had enough of it. The board is semi-draw heavy, and I know Jrokk is limping hands like 89os - ATos. I check the flop to control the pot, turn its fairly clear I have the best hand with my A high, and his reraise just makes no sense (*spew* *cough*)
His small bet on the river made the hand easily callable, I think I was calling most bets on this river vs the villian given the circumstances.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206826
vs ProdigalPimp - Here I put villian on AKs,TT-QQ, didn't put AA in his range at all the way he played it, if he shoved PF I probably would have mucked given all the action between our bets and how defined my hand is, so I guess he got what he deserved.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206820
vs Hoseth10 - I really misplayed this hand, leading the flop OOP here is retarded now that I think about it, I think AK will check here, and if I want to win this pot, a c/r or c/f is definately the best play, not DONKBET/FOLD.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206824
vs Chiennoir - Happy birthday to me.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206825
vs Donsartino - He's on a 20% bi here, I have AK & position. He donks out on this flop after calling my bet PF, but his bet is so small, its obvious he has the nuts or nothing, and much more often than not, its nothing. I never give anyone on a BI this small any respect, and run them down quite often with marginal holdings such as AK.

I didn't have much time to play cash games at Titan last weekend. I was expecting to be playing at NL20 yesterday but because of lack of time, I couldn't achieved that. Played tournaments at Stars and Titan but didn't do good at any of them. So today I started with my sessions again.
Felt like playing my A game
My BR this morning was at $313 and after a very nice 2hour session where I felt I was playing really good, I ended up winning $75.19 . My BR is now at $388.19.

Silver status secured. Next stop: Gold
I have reached the needed points to retain my Silver status. Now I'm aiming to Gold. I think I can make it.

| | Pokernight with friends by sTrAtO, June 05
So we gathered last night at a friends house to play some poker. We were just 5, not 10 like last time cause some of them are out on vacations. It was pretty easy. I took it down in like 1:30hours(90mins).
50chips to each player and blinds at 1/2.
I was the BB and got dealt K-5o. In a family pot the flop was K-5-9. Turn was a Q and River another K.
I took away from a friend like 25chips (half his stack) with my fullhouse against his K-4.
Later on I took another 25 chips from a girl friend when she didn't want to lay down his pocket fives (5-5) against my K-6o in a K-2-2-2-3 board.
2hands later, I had Q-9o in the SB and limped in. 3players in the hand. Flop was Q-Q-T. Flop was checked around. Turn: T. Checked again. River: A. I put 6chips in the pot on the river and BB called. The other player pushed allin with 25chips. I called and BB fold. My other friend wasn't expecting to get a call and thought I was bluffing but nope, I have a fullhouse buddy and gg his chips, he bluffed the pot in the wrong time.
3 friends went out soon and headsup started. With me having over 2:1 advantage in chips with 175 vs 75 aprox. Slowplayed trip nines in a hand and he thought I was bluffing and took away from my friend like 35chips.
A few hands later, with blinds at 4/8, he moved allin with K5o and I had A9o. Board T-T-6-A-K. GG. Had a lot of fun even though it didn't last too much.

| | Bankroll management - hands from good session by getsky, June 05
So a few thoughts on bankroll management. I haven't read any of the posts here regarding such, but I have read a few on 2plus2 and the general consensus there is the 20 buy in rule. However, this is not to say that you can't start taking shots higher if you are confident in your game AND you are willing to drop back down if/when you lose a few buyins.
For myself at the current level I am playing (50NL) I think that 10 buyins is more than enough. I am usually pretty strict on dropping down when I should...when not tilting like a madman..or drinking (I gotta stop drinking and playing). I just can't motivate myself to play at like 5NL at all, and I fell that I can easily beat 100NL so I want to get back up there as fast as possible.
anyhoo...enough about that. I had a super good session last night that brought me up to $650
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/5205/june4sessionkh7.jpg
Not many interesting hands, the sweet thing is that I didn't suffer ANY bad beats..if only this would never happen
Hand 1
This guy was a total buffoon. He bet me off top pair a few hands earlier by open pushing the flop. Then I saw him bet flop/turn and push river on a few hands. So I flop top pair good kicker, and let him bet into me. Terrible river card putting an over card and competing the flush draw, but I figured I had to call this monkey.
Hand 2
I raise it up on the button with A3 off and flop a gutshot. I decide to 2 barrel it, I was going to put it all in on the river regardless but the river card helped.
This is one of my big leaks, I have a tendency to bluff way too much. BUT when you check to me 3 times, then most of the time I'm gonna 3 barrel you.
Hand 3
I turn a flush on a paired board in a limped pot against a retard guy who is like 77%vpip. I have literally could have any 2 cards, but meh..I put him all in on the river and he calles with his trips.

| | What a night by doctorstu, June 05
So I decided to start playing some 10NL last night and after getting up 5/6 BIs I'd had enough and took to the 25NL tables.
Managed to end up 2 BIs and called it quits after feeling that my game was a bit off after making the jump to total online play.
My fish-moment of the night came at 4:00am after a few drinks when I re-installed FTP and went looking for some heads-up to pass the time. I totally forgot about re-doing my custom SNG filters and accidently rego'd for a $50 HU pot limit omaga hi/lo game.
I'm not a big PLO hi/lo player but I managed to hold my own for an epic 20 minute struggle against a vastly superior opponent. He caught a nice hand and sent me packing. I pretty much fumed for a good hour before passing out in bed.
I've decided that it's time for me to get a job after my first 4 months of unemployment since I turned 12. It's really affecting my ability to play poker as I'm stuck as low-limits after paying off ~$4000 in uni fees for next semester. The job hunt is going well and it looks like my old position (IT Support Officer/Systems Administrator) is pulling in an extra ~5-10k a year nowadays so I've applied for about 15 jobs right off.
Thinking about giving poker a break for a few weeks and focusing on the theory rather than the live-game for a bit. Being a non-mathematically minded person I've always had to rely more on the psychological aspects to provide an edge rather than just playing the numbers. I've consigned myself to brushing up on my maths skills and getting everything I can memorized before I begin hardcore play again.
I'm looking at what books to buy next, hoping someone can give me some suggestions. I've got/read:
Winner's Guide to Texas Hold'em by Ken Warren
The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky
The Psychology of Poker by Alan N. Schoonmaker
Super/System by Doyle Brunson
Poker: The Real Deal by Phil Gordon
Phil Gordon's Little Green Book by Phil Gordon
Definitely planning on buying:
Harrington on Hold'em vol 1-3
Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players
Mike Caro's Book of Poker Tells

| | May Results / June Goals by RAHZero, June 05
Alright, so I'm a little late here, but I haven't gotten a chance to update this since I got back home from Cali. Anyway, May was a little disappointing, I grinded a ton after finals ended but went through a couple rough swings. Overall, I finished up $3.3k, rakeback and bonuses included. No graphs, unfortunately, since my PT screwed up and my stats are way off. The last post was the last chance I got to play in May, but I've been grinding a ton since I got back from my trip. My June goals are pretty much what I wrote in the last post, at least 75k hands and at least $10k total profit. I'm off to a good start, thanks to playing a shitload of hands over the last 2 and a half days. Early June stats / graphs / random thoughts to come tomorrow.

| | Back at NL400 (Brag) by JonnyCosMo, June 05
Went back to NL400 today. I've been doing really well at 1/2 again and got my confidence back so I decided to have another go at it tonight. Loaded up 3 tables at first, then added a 4th about 30 mins into my session and really tried to focus on my play. My friend Pavel (pmilanov on PokerStars) railed most of my session and he gave me his input on his bizzare style. I got into a lot of funky spots because of it, but overall it worked out. Here are some of the hands from my session:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206405 - My plan on the river was to check-fold. I swear. This player plays 3 bet pots very fast on the flop, so his flat call screamed uber strength. Dont ask me why I called, I stupidly changed my mind and decided not to go with the read. Curiousity killed the cat. And yes, I know open shoving the river is the standard play.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206406 - Same player, yet difficult situations due to the fact we were so deep. I feel the majority of the time in this spot I have the best hand, but playing past this flop is difficult out of position.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206407 - This was Pavel's bizzare idea to just flat preflop (my standard play is like 100% 3 bet). As played this hand got really interesting.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206408 - Super standard, not really interesting.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206409 - Pretty standard.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206410 - Ding. Well played sir.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/206411 - Ding again. Thanks for the free cards.
