| | 770BB Pot, 3 Barrel Bluff 250BB deap and more !!! by getsky, June 10
Holy shit what a retarded session i had today. I started off just bleeding chips when every time I made a move, somebody had a hand, it was just ridiculous. Then I lost a buyin w/ 66 vs 1010..bad play by me.
Up and down a bit, lost 1/2 BI w/ JJ vs AA AI PF. Then on one table I pick up QQ 2 times, and I 3 bet, and dude calls me and stacks me 2 times with 10 6 for 2 pair, and K9 for pair of K. The just set me off, and I started playing really agressivly. I bluffed off my stack once, but also took about 150BB running 3 other good bluffs.
I was down 485 at one point, but brought er back up to +168 thanks to a 770BB pot against a douchbag moron who is now my new best friend.
Check this graph:
http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/9421/graph20070610un8.jpg
All in all, I was pleased with the session. I noticed I played less hands, and raised less than normal..probably cause I wan't getting many hands..not sure.
http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7753/session20070610jn4.jpg
Now for some hands.
Hand 1
I FOLD AA ON THE FLOP, SAY WHAT??
Well..dude was 15/12, and he obviously has a set here, since he is repopping any decent PP preflop. I am confident I made a good laydown here.
Hand 2
I fold another over pair on the turn KK. I really not sure about this one here. We were 200BB deep, and I was only beating AK or JJ, both of which I don't think he would raise the turn with. Though though, a fold felt right here. push is prolly alright too I guess..but I was chicken with 200BB
Hand 3
I 3 barrel KQ off on a 666xx board. I put the guy on 88-1010, and I KNEW he could lay down a hand. He said he had 1010, I told him AA tee hee hee. I think this is alright against a known player who can lay down a good hand.
Hand 4
I all in 3 bet the turn with air. This guy is definately capable of making plays, and he INSTA raised me here, which sets off bells in my head saying 'you ain't got shit biotch'
Hand 5
Re Raise All in with 1010 4 diamonds on A high flop. Again, this guy has been 3 betting me alot, his bet on the flop was instant, so I didn't believe him. WOOP.. I'm sure I had the best hand anyway
Hand 6
Well..they all don't go so well.. this dude insta min raised me here, so ya know..pooooosh.
Hand 7
WELL....I sure did get him back didn't I 770BB baby..ship that !!!. 2 hands earlier this guy pushed AI for 200BB w/ TPTK, and sucked out on a KK on the flop. I KNEW he had an overpair here, and he was NOT getting away from it..all in..thank you very much sir..perma buddy listed baby.

| | Swingy days. by wolfheart, June 10
So it was friday and i was looking my roll 1100 so i thought i take shot at 50nl again. After few hour play i was down -20. Got some fullbuyin suckouts and grinded up there. So i thought fuck it lets gamble some more until i am down 1000. So opened 4 100nl tables and played few hours there no big hands occured. Tho 100nl is much more solid then 50nl. I was down like 960. Then i thought i give some shot 50nl when i am down 900. Ended down like 860 then realized i am playing bad lets wait next day.
So i woke up early in morning then i proceded to win all it back to 1110. Like 12 buyins in 3 hours. Again i thought i am playing good lets hit 50nl tables again. Again again i got whooped because 50nl is joke. Minraising all the time aces and stuff. They never fold cbets and donk around with bottom pair. So i lost -5 bis there again. I try it next time then i hit 1250. Atm i just cant beat that level.
So i started tonight playing 25nl again from 880. Went -40 down then few hours no big hands happened. In the end i quited tonight at 1010 what is better alternative.
I feel very well on 25nl ..its so easy to beat almost 80 times or more they fold cbet. Or i pick up a draw and juice it up. I limp very few hands and play mostly hands on position. Its easy even to call raisepreflop behind and check raise him 2,5 because 80% times they cbet anways and pick up pot.

| | NL $400 = variance... by RAHZero, June 10
Put in a very short day yesterday, all but 300 or so hands of which at NL $400. I think I'm ready to move up, but there are almost never 9 good NL $400 tables at, so I'll still be playing a lot of NL $200. However, NL $400 is going to be swingy as hell, so I'll have to watch out for any big downswings. Yesterday's graph:

| | June is wonderful? by nolan, June 10
Went to one of my brothers' high school graduation the other day. It was really depressing being back in the Boston area and seeing people I had been doing a pretty good job of wiping from my memory. It was cool hanging out with old friends though even though we really didn't do much. My parents were really happy to see me and it was nice seeing them as I really only get the opportunity every month or so.
My father has been a police officer for I believe 28 years and he's retiring very soon. It's really weird. I'm very proud of him and I've really never been more happy for him. I think it's such a huge accomplishment, raising children. I'm so afraid for the day where I'll have to do it. I think it will be really hard to out-do the care my parents provided for my family. Like Fishburn says in Boyz in the hood: "Any fool with a dick can make a baby, it takes a real man to raise his child." I gotta think of something really great to buy him since he happens to retire on Father's day. Suggestions?
As far as poker goes, I seem to start every month off on a sick heater, then run stagnant or bad, then end on a sick heater, and June is no exception. I have only played like 3.5k hands of ring on PokerStars as I have been playing alot of heads up on Full Tilt and running kind of blah. I've also played a tourney session here or there to replace a cash one with obviously poor results so that is affecting my total hands. I think I'll be getting back into playing 1.5-3k hands of six max or full ring daily however.
This morning I won a pretty sick pot and was put to a pretty tough decision, I think I'm going to post it up without results but if you search my hands you can find it .
Ahh, I need to catch some sun and hit the gym. Hope you are all doing well.
Oh, small sample size but I'll brag anyways:
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1938/junekn4.jpg
Unfortunate all the bad beats I've had, or I'd definitely be running better than 18ptbb. Although, I think that if you took out the hands where I get real lucky, 18ptbb probably becomes my sustainable six max winrate.

| | Back to NL100 by getsky, June 10
So I put in a marathon 3000 hands yesterday, which is insane for me. I started out at NL50 and went up 4 buyins. With my bankroll now up to 1150, I decided to take a 4 buyin shot at NL100. That started out like shit, with me bluffing off my stack in the first couple hands,to being down 3.5 buyins. I made a nice comeback though and ended up +2 BI.
Bankroll now at 1340
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/5482/session20070605vj2.jpg
Hands.....
Hand 1
Dumb bet on river with a set here on a straightened board... should have check called maybe? I couldn't put the guy on a 4 let alone a flopped straight since he raised PF...MEH
Hand 2
I 4 bet 1010 from button suspecting a BB was 3 betting me light. Flop comes AKx, and I CB for less than half pot, trying to look like I really wanted a call. He said he folded QQ. WOOP !!
Hand 3
Folded TOP 2 in 3 bet pot. I put the initial raiser on KK,AA or AK with his min raise PF. I was going to call his all in, but then other dude calls, and I must be beat..good fold me

| | Thou Shalt Not Drink(and play poker) by getsky, June 10
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/5227/june8sessiongx8.jpg
I wrote this yesterday, but couldn't get onto liquidpoker..so double post today
Got off to a screaming start in last nights session, being up 2 buyins pretty quickly. I then proceeded to bluff away my profits, then hit a few coolers, and a misclick for a full buyin had me down 2 buyins. I then had a run of cards, flopping quads with J8 to crack AA in a limped pot, having AA over KK allin on the flop, and making a nice call down with QQ on a K high board in a 3 bet pot.
On to some hands.
Hand 1
I repop a raise and 2 callers from the BB w/ AK off. I get 1 caller in the SB. ON the flop he bets something stupid like 3 into a 30 pot. I almost just went all in there, but something held me back. Turn is a K, and he pushes all in. Snap call, ship me the monies.
Hand 2
I RR from the button with QQ. There is a K on the flop, and it goes CC. Turn is a blank, and he fires 11 into a 14.75 pot. I think for a while, and call. Bad move maybe??? River is another blank, and he insta bets almost pot. So 3 things led me to make this call. First was his river AF is 7 or so, second was the fact that he insta bet, which I find usually means a bluff. Finally was the size of his bet. It seemed to me he was just trying to get me to fold. I got berated by him for making this call, saying he would have AK there most times. MEH..I went with my read and it paid off..doesn't always work that way.
Hand 3
Limped pot, I flop 2 pair with 2 aces on board. Opponent weakly bets flop and turn. I am pretty sure I have the best hand here. I figure an A would have bet more. So on the river I fire out a blocking bet of 2 into a 7.50 pot. He thought forever, then raised me to 6. I figured his long thinking was him trying to figure out WTF my bet meant. Maybe I should have folded on the river, but again, I went with my read.
Hand 4
An aggressive player raises from the button. He has been doing that a lot, so I repop from the SB with AJ off. The BB calls, as does button. I wasn't worried about the SB, he is 88% VPIP..lol. Anyway flop TPTK and bet 15 into a 25 pot. SB folds, and button raisis all in. Now there was 2 spades on board, and this guy is quite agresive, he could do this with any jack, or the draw. I didn't put him on a big pair her because I figured he would have tried to get heads up with me PF. So I call and he tables KK. Bad call or what, not sure.
Now for a dumb ass play by me.
Hand 5
This guy had played every pot since he sat down. I figured him for the type of player who would call off his stack with any pair. (There are a few of those at NL50). So I push on the riv with TP 8 kicker. MEH
And for the grand daddy of them all.. the reason not to drink when playing poker.. is not because your judgment is impaired...no it is your coordination when trying to fold as fast as possible when you accidentally call all in with Q high
Hand 6
I 3 bet this guy here because he was stealing tons. The other guy was a moronic 60+VPIP, so I tried to take it down on the flop.. rest is gay

| | Dumb folds? by spets1, June 10
Here are a few hands that i have folded that i am really not too sure if folding was correct.
hand 1: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/185153
stupid fold? vs 27/11/2.5 only 85hands
hand 2 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/185155
vs 59/24/1.5 only 178 hands
hand 3 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/185157
21/14/3 214 hands, any other way to play this? Should I have bet more on flop
or should i call because i induced a bluff?
hand 4 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/186267
vs 27/11/2.5 85 hands
hand 5 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191552
vs a callstation.
this seems like at least top pair.
I decided to pretty much give up after he called my raise if i dont hit.
So I called his weakish bets incase i hit.
hand 6 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/201546
this one, there were too many playing post flop
so a large chance of me being beat. Good Fold?
hand 7 : http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/201547
hmm i think betting the turn was pretty retarded.
check/fold turn? check/call turn?
any comments appreciated

| | Last nights session by NeillyJQ, June 10
Still haven't slept from last nights session, been watching movies and relaxing for the night. Watched Knocked Up tonight, was a pretty good movie, definately kept me entertained for a couple hours atleast.
Got back on for a few hundred more hands after my last blog and played very well, managed to pick up a BI and unlock my bonus that has been pending for about a week now.
During the last week I haven't been putting in close to the hours I was putting in during weeks past. Some tough runs can really take me out of the mood to play real quick, guess its better than sitting there grinding through sometimes unwinnable battles. Every day I wake up I'm going to be looking to play for up to 12-14 hours, but am willing to stop whenever I feel myself slip at all for now on.
Here are alot of hands I played last night :
vs UNCMAC - this is purely transparent and retarded by the villian, since I have AK/AQ or a high PP just about every time here...but he can't think oh well next.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209215
vs spottedsword - another hand that just boggled my mind, I felt he was very weak on the flop, I don't think I should be calling raises with sooted aces PF often, and raise that flop stronger if I decide that I do indeed have the best hand. A little unlucky and a very unskilled play
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209217
vs icemankef - first break of the day - iceman raising AQos UTG and calling my reraise with it - then stacking off w/ AQos when its painfully obvious I have him drawing thin..
When I'm vs a good TAG regular, I think flatting is best on the flop? Most regulars range wouldn't contain AQ calling the reraise although my raise was very weak, but I don't think a regular would bet out AQ on this flop..but this guys a shortstack donkey so I figured he had AKd or AQ here n stuck it in
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209220
vs akfots - shortstack donk minraising UTG - totally priced me in to see this for a chance to win over 50 bets for 2. Just a matter of getting the money in now, he made it pretty easy for me..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209223
vs nyliu07 - gave him credit for a pp or smthing decent when calling me oop here, my flop bet was weak and gave him a decent price to try and catch this draw.. Thought he was calling me on a pp. Pretty sure the best way to play this is to pot flop, 80% pot turn/fold to reraise..I let him see the turn way to cheap as well..I was playing like shit, its sad to look how shitty I bet this.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209227
vs BoneWreck - I have some issues playing these boards oop and getting paid well.. what are some lines that you guys use? Please, I'm very interested in multiple ways to play this. As played, I raised flop for value, if I just call it really sells that im on a 7 since its multiway with the ace on the board, where as my raise can be a bluff. I really think I should have bet the turn and river strongly here and tried to get paid.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209229
vs KozFactory - Big stack opens for 4x bb in EP, im sittin on 1.5x BI, so I make the call IP w/ my sooted connector. Flop a gin flop and am really hoping he's on AK/AQ (possibly with a diamond to call this reraise, but he instamucks). I think I bet this way to strongly now that I look back at it, since most of the time he will be holding an ace without a diamond here. I still feel a raise is needed since im in the middle of a multiway pot here and I can't let kmart draw to a boat or better flush for free. I think 15 on the flop would be perfect to get HU vs an ace / set / two pair and play it from there.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209239
vs Icecreamman6 - random shortstack calls my open raise on 34s (looking to flop a str8 / flush / or represent any ace vs a pp, or pp vs someone on AK/AQ) Lead flop on my FD, get called, assume he's probably on KQ/AQ or something in this range. BOOM, smash my flush on the turn, go for the check raise since leading into the turn shows I'm not scared of the flush and might not get paid. He oblidges to my check and we're off to the river. 2h, sweet! Money card! drop $8 into a $12 pot, value town baby.
Think again. ReRaise what? Donk called me PF with A9s on a shortstack...what a luckbox donk..psh - $25
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209250
vs c .reach - I got sevens, shorty calls me PF from the button. He's a shortstack, doesn't stand out as a good player or anything. Flop A73 rainbow, I lead 3/4 pot and pick up a caller on the button. I lead the turn $7 leaving him $12 if he calls to get it in, into what would be a $28 river, laying him 3.5/1 to make the call on the river if I get the turn call. He oblidges, I follow through with the plan and take the rest on the river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209253
vs 420offsuit - button shennagins are fun. Pick up 23s, tables playin fairly tight, I pop it up to steal on the button. 57J flop, I cont bet, get called. Putting him on a small PP or maybe 76/78/J9, other weak middle holdings. Turn brings a 9, completing an open ender and gutterball. check check, and rivers a perfect scarecard, if he wasn't scared that the turn didn't hit me. Ad - now board with two straights, a flush, and 3-5 overcards to his possible hand. Perfect bluff card, I fire out 65% pot, an attempt to value bet bluff and take it down.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209255
vs lifedonk and TheBigFinn - multiway pot from the sb - I picked up A3 and limp in behind a couple limpers. Flop the joint, lead it strongly and go play at other tables expecting to take it down PF. Table pops back up, random donk flats out of the bb, and LifeDonk *NL25/NL50 regular*, (plays fairly TAG, but will take position on pots he feels he can take down with 1-2 barrels), had 3.5x reraised me in position. I'm about 200% sure he has a combo flush draw or set, its definately time to get the money in. I wait a while and 4.25x reraise his bet to commit myself to the pot. He reshoves and we're off.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209257
vs grayling646 - don't even ask me what the hell he was doing, im not going to comment on this hand. "from my ego: I feel like I played this hand perfectly and was shit on."
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209262
vs grayling646 - right after the 39 hand, I compiled my mistake from last hand into this hand and didn't cont bet the flop or turn. Atleast he didn't VB river, probably assuming I was slowplaying AA.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209265
vs AFFIRMED1 - lil bday present for the end of the night
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209268
vs kmar1085 - kmar was playing alot of pots with me, and playing fairly aggressively in all of them. I open AJh UTG 4x bb, pick up two callers. KK8, two hearts. Standard cont bet, lowers the field. After he flats hes gotta be on AK,KQ,78,89,88 or a lower FD. Check turn to control potsize vs a possible king, he drops out a small bet and I flat. Here I think I should have value bet the river and tried to get paid, although I think I have to fold to a shove here vs any nitty regulars on NL50 / NL100, and make crying calls vs donks. 20 sounds about right. Judge for yourself, here it is.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/209269
I was very disapointed in my play yeseterday, I had alot in my mind from my life outside poker, pretty sure the distraction had thrown off my game. Going to get a good nights sleep and come back fightin tomorrow!

| | embarassing run at 50 nl by veryGUd, June 10
I'm pretty embarassed with the way i've playe at 50 nl since i moved up. I went on a super sick heater up to 1900 but recently and especially today i have been playing pathetic. Today i even reached my stop loss which I haven't done in ages. My bankroll is back at 1525 and my confidence and game is so shot im going to move back down to 25 NL until i can get my head straight. I am probably going to take a 4 day break until i can get moved in and settled in to my new place. Seiously my play has been AWFUL recently. Hopefully I can get things back together. I'm going to throw up my June graph just to embarass myself and hopefully I wont play like an ass anymore. http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/810/junegraphtj5.jpg

| | Long session by NeillyJQ, June 09
Had a long session today, failed to cash in 12 tournaments before losing AJ vs 22 deep in the 3r (got 150th)
Couldnt manage to win in the cash games tonight either, mostly due to horrible suckouts, then when I did flop big I played them like shit.
Extremely fucking annoyed and angry, im not posting any analysis tonight.

| | Stuff I should learn by DustySwedeDude, June 09
Top 10
1. Learn that sometimes people actually has something when they reraise me.
2. Not autopush any semi-decent draw just because I might have some FE.
3. Pay attention to image.
4. Stop playing when I don't really feel like playing.
5. Start abusing stupid ppl's tendencis harder rather then go POWAH POKER vs known slowplayers and such.
6. Valuebet more stuff like 2nd pair decent kicker more often.
7. Stop raising marginal stuff and end up pot-commited vs shortstacks who shoves like everything.
8. Less getting tricky with stuff to get payed off.
9. Table select better, just not only fine a few fullstacks and LAG it up.
10. Play longer sessions when I'm winning and shorter when I'm losing. Kinda.
On another note: I'm up like 1.6k so far this month over 6k hands. Considering that I was up about 2.4 earlier today one could argue that I might wanna play a bit more solid. Still up like 30 USD or something today though

| | Another wild day! by RAHZero, June 09
Jesus, I never have a boring day, do I? Anyway, yesterday I decided to take some more shots at NL $400, so I was playing a pretty even mix of NL $200 and NL $400 tables. Got off to a very rough start, at one point during the horrific early downswing, my won $ at showdown was less than 30%. I seriously was making every second best hand possible, and every draw was hitting against me. However, as you can see from the graph below, things turned around quite a bit:

Hand 2900 or so was my new biggest pot ever. I'd been waiting to stack this donk for ages. He had just recently won a huge pot off ValueKill when he flopped a set, and of course got paid off because he was firing with air about 90% of the time. Here's are an earlier hand I played against him just to give you an idea:

Then came along this beauty:

I think I played this one pretty well. Obviously I'm not folding to the minraise PF, I'm calling and hoping to flop a set. The flop is perfect. Against a lot of players, this deep after being min 3-bet PF, I might play a little cautiously (though I'm still committing all my chips if push comes to shove), against this guy I'm just praying that he actually has something. I check-call the flop and check the turn to let him keep firing away with whatever he has. The turn decision after he bets again is the pivotal moment in the hand. He's shown a ton of strength, minreraising PF, then firing pot on the flop and turn, so even though he's crazy, there's a decent chance he actually has something. I can just call, and check the river, hoping the he'll fire again. However, if I do that, he may not bluff again on the river if he has air, and might even check behind some hands (like KQ or a weak ace) that I could get some more value out of. On the other hand, he may just shove the river if I call. If I raise, I can shove, in which case he'll probably only call with a big hand. I don't know too too much about his calling range, but he may even be able to fold his actual hand, AJ here. I opted to minraise in this spot, which is one of the few places I like to minraise - a huge pot is already built, and I want to get more chips in the pot without forcing out a marginal hand, and here a minraise also all but commits him to call a river shove.
So yeah, overall another very wild day, but one I need to get used to as I continue to play higher, where the games are more aggressive. I actually finished down for the day at NL $200, by $33, and after the upswing my W$@SD was right at 50%. And I also won two other $1k plus pots (both off the same guy), which are always nice:
