| | Even This month!@ by mrpav.com, September 10
Mother F&*CK^R, i just made a blog post, and it took me like 20 min to type it all up and then I closed internet explorer by accident and have to start all over. Well, since the beginning of the month started I’m even and I played about 14,000 hands. Its a little frustrating because I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong, or were I can improve my game. It’s always easier to see your strengths and weaknesses are when someone else watches you play and provides suggestions in were you can improve. So I’m going to be taking some poker lessons, trying to buy one of the instructors on lp to help me out, talked to n0rthf4ce and he said he might if he has the time. Also spoke to d_zoo, Doomers and they said they were down for an hour or two lessons so that should teach me a few things.
School also started for me, so I’m waking up everyday now at 6am-7am everyday which sucks because I’ve been waking up around 1pm-2pm everyday over the summer.. Grr.. But the hospital needs me there super early, so I have to get use to it, so that means in bed by 10pm which sucks some serious balls.
I just recently also found out that I need multiple problems in my life. This is what I mean. Over the summer, I would have days were i would play poker and be down a few buy ins and at the end of the session I would stress about my play. Like for the whole day that’s all I would think about until I went to bed because I don’t have many things to stress about in my life so far, and that was a horrible feeling. Then I later found out that I stress a little over school now that I’m in it, and also when I play xbox360. So if I have a test coming up or I played really bad in a video game (the godfather) then I don’t stress about poker anymore. So I think having multiple minor things that stress you in life is more healthy than just one because if its just a single stressor than that’s the one that makes over.

| | Update by DustySwedeDude, September 10
So far this month:
23k hands played
1.5k proftis
2.8k payed in rake, I'll get 30% back.
I've had some really good days, some really bad days and some days (like today) when I've played pretty bad, stacking off easily to stuff and such. I've gotten my stats pretty TAGGY but I'm still making moves all over the place and I can't fold shit. I think my inabilitly to fold stuff like top2 and such vs nits are my biggest leak actually.
My winrate so far this month is about 2.5bb/100 hands which is pretty decent I guess. Not good, but nothing to complain about either. It was a bit higher, but since I'm down like 5 bi during the last 1k hands (pretty much KK vs QQ allin pf, lost to set, KK vs AA, top2 vs straigtsx2 and a stupid slowplay-mix-it-up-let-him-catch-a-set-on-turn and some bad calls) it's not that fun .

Poker couldnt be better right now, climbing really fast, more than 6k$ up this month and taking some shots at NL600.
NL200 is still my main game and I will keep it until the end of the month, playing NL400 tables when the game is good there or when its late and theres less than 20 NL200 tables.
I still feel the betting is too big and not comfortable yet, though as the br grows it feels more adequate and the betting at NL200 seems smaller everyday.
Cool times, hope to keep it up, playing my A game, couple mistakes every day or so that I try to fix and never make again.
Having dinner in fancy restorants every week, tons of clothes, Wii, next trip to Europe this summer, and all its paid by the fish, funny how the food chain works :D.

| | Moving up AGAIN! by Mayday, September 09
So less than a week ago, I posted that I'd finally moved up to $5NL after grinding out $100 at $2NL.
And now I'm moving up again! In one week, I've managed to win twenty buy-ins at 5NL to put my bankroll at $300, with $200 of it complete profit. This is really a big thing for me because after my results from the first two days of 5NL, I told myself that I'd reach my $100 goal within ONE WEEK to push myself up to the next limit.
It wasn't easy though. On thursday night and friday I ran sick bad. I must have ran into set vs overset more than five times, and even lost quads vs overquads. It was getting so bad that I was getting the impression that I should start folding my sets against heavy action, because every time I'd shove, he'd show that he flopped an overset. By friday afternoon, I'd dropped 4 buy ins ($40), but I somehow managed to make money back to only be down $10 that day. Making that last $10 was crazy hard too. I'd be up a bit, and then they'd river a Q when it was AA vs QQ all in on the turn. Anyways, it's been a crazy ride.
Anyways, on to $10NL!
New Goals:
Hit a profit of $500. This will give me the 25 buy-in minimum for $25NL. That is 30 buy ins at 10NL.
LETS DO THIS!!! :3

| | My First Post by MA2004, September 09
My purpose for writing this blog is to chronicle the events that will eventually lead to my success in making money with this great game.
My background is as follows:
Im 32, and have been playing poker for seriously for about 6-8 months now. However, just recently, I have began the process of building a bankroll from the ground up. I am starting at the Micro Limits on Stars. Presently, I am at .5/.10 nl, 2-3 tabling for a few hours a day. I am hoping to play at least 1k hands per day, as I also have a family and a business to run.
I may infuse my account with just enough to move up to .10/.25 nl soon. Playing for such small stakes is very tedious to me, and my goal is to make some decent money. We all know how stagnant the micros can be, and I just want to see some monetary progress. That will be the only "Cheating" in which I will participate. So, i will grind until I am bankrolled for .25/50 nl, and do the same for all escalating levels.
I beleive that any serious competitor needs to study and learn their game very well. This includes studying hand histories, reading, and learning from others as well. I will incorporate all three in to my quest for excellence.
So, as far as my progress, I am about even right now. I am doing ok, but have been making some mistakes lately. This is why i think post-session analysis is crucial to long term winning. Not repeating mistakes is surly +EV. It's very frustrating looking at the same roll for 2-3 days straight, after logging 3-4 hrs per day. But, that is motivation to keep learning. The positive side is not losing. So, I guess you can call that progress too. Hopefully my next posting will be indicative of a profitable seesion. I think that will happen soon, as there are many bad players at this level.
In closing, as I would like to keep this short, I want to wish everyone luck on this site with their playing, and hope everyone is successful. We all know that with practice and dedication, there is a lot to be gained.
I'm looking forward to contributing here and hope I don't make a total Donk out of myself.
Peace

| | Taxes by Matt98568, September 09
So I cashed out for 800 yesterday to get a laptop, I got a 15.4 " hp which is really nice. It's pretty fast and has more memory then I will ever need.
Poker has been going good I won about 1400 last week including two tourney wins.
title pretty much explains the situation... basically I should probably start paying taxes now that I am just playin poker for money. I really have not made to much playing poker compared to others but I had a few under the table jobs so I figured eventually this shit will catch up with me so I should try and get stuff caught up.
I found a old thread on lp where a pocketfives article was listed and I read I really should just get an accountant. I have not made that much so I don't know if its that neccesary if someone could help me out with how to go about claiming the gambling winnings. Pretty much if people could share how they go about keeping track of their wins and losses that would be appreciated.
In the pocket fives article it talks about it alittle bit but just wondering what others did.
Is just getting an accountant the best way to go about this or do any of you guys do the taxes yourselves?

| | My poker story/I hate life by SakiSaki, September 09
I feel fucking crushed and Im not sure why but I just need to write this out, some might find it interesting i dunno.
I started grinding 10nl with the lp promotion sometime around february last year. I ran well in the beginning and moved up pretty quickly, by the end of the summer I was grinding 200nl. There, I hit my first brick wall. Everytime I triend to move up to 400nl I got fucked so bad. I just couldnt win. After struggling for quite a few months I finally decided I was doomswitched on FTP and moved my roll to partypoker. Continuing to run bad/play bad there I finally had to drop down to 100nl for a while. I was really discuraged and couldnt understand what I was doing wrong. I discussed alot of poker with some of the regulars I played with alot on FTP. Hearing their point of view was really eyeopening and I realised I had been playing way to agressive trying to win every pot I was in. I started to change my game and all off a sudden i felt I was playing really good and running even better.
I skyrockeded on party and I just couldnt loose for the longest time. I just kept moving up and I really felt my game improve drasticly. Sometime around July I peaked my roll at 90k. I was playing mainly 5/10 and some 10/20 when the games looked good.
Then finally the shit hit the fan. I lost big on one session of 10/20 and continued to spew/run bad on 5/10. Not sure about the numbers but over the course of 2-3 weeks I lost about 40k. Depressed I cashed out everything except 15k and decided to rebuild for a while and deposit money into another site. Not happy about the other sites I tried I continued to play 2/4 on party and eventually deposited 20k back into party and grinded 3/6.
I did really well on 3/6 as I have always done. I dont have all my pokertracker hands left but I think I have a winrate of somewhere around 4-5ptbb/100 lifetime on partys 3/6. But everytime I tried to move back to 5/10 I hit the same wall I hit when trying to move to 400nl on FTP. I basicly won alot of money on 3/6 and blew it all on 5/10. Because of this my br has basicly been standing still on around 40-50k for the last months. I think i might actually be in the red lifetime on 5/10. Its pretty sick, because I can feel how much worse I am playing as soon as I move up. The frustration of continuing to stand still finally got the best of me and my 3/6 game has really taken a beating. Ive been frustrated/semitilted for so long now I have no idea how to find my way back to my A-game.
September has been horrible, and I just finished a terrible terrible session. I lost a bunch of flips and tilt is always around the corner for me these days so it doesnt take all that much to push me over the edge.
My roll has now dropped to 25k and I just hate everything about poker. I have always had some problems with easily getting thrown off my A-game but it have never gotten me to this point. Im actually fearing that I will go busto and I feel like I need to make my decision right here and right now. I either shape up and stop being a fucking whiny ungreatful tilting retard or I might aswell quit poker alltogether.
Without dicipline a pokerplayer is nothing, its simply the single most important skill for succeding in this devious game.
Im now taking a break from poker. I dont know for how long but I have a feeling that I wont wanna play for a couple of weeks. Ill just focus on school and hopefully I can find my way back to playing good poker again.
good night.

| | w00t! by JoeDeertay, September 09
I'm sad to say that one of the best weekends I've had at school so far has pretty much come to an end. Friday night was a "Pirates" and Captain Morgan shitshow in the room, and yesturday we spent the whole day BBQing during the PSU vs. ND game (because I don't have tickets this season ). We had about 15 steaks on the grill and 10 chicken breasts between 8 of us, and we washed it all down with a case of Coronas and Woodchuck Raspberry Cider
Watching the Nittany Lions asbolutely destroy the Irish on our home field in front of a full-stadium white-out inspired me to translate that Penn State tenacity to the tables today. I couldn't really sleep all too well last night so I just got up with the sun this morning and started a 6 hour 4197 hand session at about 8 12-tabling $10NL on Stars.
I finished up about 5 BI and brought my total for the last week up to +8 BI in ~13k hands. Here's the 10NL line from PT with some of my stats:
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h309/joeykrack42/pt-nl10career.jpg
I still don't know how to make or get the graphs that everyone posts, so if someone could tell me that'd be great .
I'm gonna grab some lunch and get ready to play in the 100k with casinocasino's money later on at 3:30. Hopefully I do well and make us both some good money that I can use to try and get into the WCOOP by next Sunday's event through sats or whatnot.

| | First Entry by Roto, September 08
I've finally decided to start a blog in order to track my results/thoughts in a nice organized manner
A little about me:
I started playing poker about one year ago. I play NL5 and hope to have a $1000 bankroll by January 1st. I'm at $200 now
I've been a member of TL.net for a few years and noticed a link to Liquidpoker.net a while ago. The thought of playing a game that could make me money was very appealing. My first attempt was about one year ago, I deposited $10 on PokerStars. I went busto quite quickly, even though I thought I was following Grot's Guide. In the spring I decided to go for another attempt. I turned $10 into $45, then went busto again. Although I lost my bankroll again, that attempt made me confident that I could win.
This summer I played microstakes (.01/.02) for many hours, even though I was barely winning anything, it was still fun and rewarding. I ran at about 5ptBB/100 throughout a bunch of hands. It built my bankroll quite nicely although it was a very slow process. I am now 100% sure that I can easily win at NL2 playing some extremely tight ABC poker.
That brings me to my current situation. My bankroll is slightly over $200, and I am playing NL5. I am probably going to play NL5 until I am at $300, then take a shot at NL10. Poker has been going well so far and I hope to move up to NL25 within two months.
More posts to come in future. I'll start including pretty (or ugly) graphs.

Huuuuuuuuugely succesful move up to 1/2 (lol 12bb/100, if only that was sustainable :D)
Moving up was seriously a really, really good decision because I haven't tilted a single time yet, which might be partly because I've been running good/not playing much, but also I think it's because the money at 1/2 hurts way more than the money at .5/1 (IE I played so much .5/1 it didn't feel good/bad losing a buyin).
I also finally feel like I'm not playing on auto-pilot, maybe it's all running good but I feel like I can tell a little bit better what type of hands people have and therefore I might be getting better value than before.
Table selecting reallllly carefully now, I think this might be one of the best additions to my winrate ever (I started it sometime last month), not just joining the tables with the biggest avg. pot.
Hands!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266274 - First allin at 1/2!
Since I know this guy is pretty floaty/tricky/aggro I think, since I picked up the NFD) it might be better to just call and let him bluff.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266357 - Hybris from winning a big pot at another table, I put him on weak ace and thought he could fold it :[ (I had played almost no hands at this table due to being carddead so.. this was like first hand I raised in a really long time).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266358 - there's the big pot!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266359 - Lol, I'm lucky he didn't raise me on the flop, I'd have been allin soooo fast.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266389 - Sooo ugly, better betsizes would have helped me on the river.
A pretty funny hand that I wasn't involved in:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267033
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267057 - Weeee
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267297 - Biggest pot I'd won at the time, might be biggest still, not sure.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267301 -
vs 18/2.. I figured I'd get more money from his JJ, QQ by calling than by RR flop. Ugly river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267310 - bankin the sklansky bucks
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267330 - bankin real money! It's awesome when you have a guy willing to felt Q6s preflop.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267851 - I thought given his extremely strong line I might be better off just calling (since I have 0 fold equity).
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267854 - So THAT'S how it's done..!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267856 - Ez shippin', nice of him to more or less tell me he had a flush as well :D
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267978 - A revolutionary new way to play ace king..!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267979 - WEe.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267980 - more sklansky bucks
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267981 - Proooobably should have bet turn to protect my hand from strong hearts? Although he might bet those again on the turn, or semi-bluff c/r.. Hm.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/267982 - Ah~ Doh.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268023 - One of the first hands of the session, slowplayed KKK vs my turned set = ouch.
Didn't tilt at all tho and ended up running over 2 tables playing 25/20~ for a while.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268065 - Teodore had JJ, thought I was isolating the A9 fish (which I obv was doing a lot). Might be better to 4bet here?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268066 - Thought he'd slowplay a ten.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268067 - Noo, thought he had a weaker straight Oh well, not much I can do about this, 70/X/X guy can have a lot of hands here.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268068 - Repping the Ace king~_~
6k reached!
Altogether an exceptional start to september, hopefully I'll play a lot while I'm running this well (I played my 2 longest 1/2 session after I lost a buyin early on, although only 1 of them ended negative - barely - this is a bad pattern).
Need a smack in the head for always chasing losses and quitting early when winning (although I'm usually quitting because I feel like I'm getting overly cautious not to lose, I tend to ignore similiar symptoms suggesting I quit when I'm losing).
Dunno how much rakeback I've got coming, but it should be a few hundred at least, hopefully by the end of the month - coupled with rakeback - I'll have enough for NL300 or NL400. Although I'm not really in a hurry to move up, I just hope I'll be able to, should I feel ready.
I almost sat in a NL300 game today after I couldn't find a good 4th 1/2 table but decided against it despite there being a 60/0/0 (well something low) fish in there with a big stack.
Oh, there's a ton more regs who love to squeeze up at 1/2, I can imagine that getting really frustrating if you run bad.
