NL20 First steps.. by Question, September 11

After 11 days hard work on NL10 I build BR for NL20 so yesterday and today I started "owning" NL20.My start was very bad (8 tables Full ring) -> minus 3 buy ins /700 hands so i decided to play just four tables and 6max and it was very good decision.

Some Aces :

KidPoker by jayluf, September 11

I really wonder if DNegreanu ever second guessed the nickname 'Kid Poker'. It's pretty raunchy if you think about it for a second...

So my first WCOOP event is the $500 NL on Sunday. In all, I'm backed for 32.5% for the WCOOP events. So I hope to make my backers happy and make at least one deep cash.

Been playing about 400 - 500 hands a night of NL50 lately... here are some hands from the past few sessions...

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/269410
I'm not sure if its better to raise on the flop and call a shove or flating and shoving the turn as played. My point for shoving the turn here is I will take the same line with a set against an opponent like this who only 3bets pf with AA/KK.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/269455
the comments after this hand were more comical than being 4 outted. the guy genuinely thought he was ahead. nice.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/269458
prob should have bet closer to $4 on the flop but same result regardless vs this clown.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268781
he had been all in 3 times pf since i was at the table with him with hands of 10J/99/AQ.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/268579
guess he didn't believe my 3bet on the flop either.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266456
villain time banked this one to the max on the river. silly.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266426
i love the overcall there.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/265848
you can still fold this bro.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/264233
hung myself on this one.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/263888
i really hope these players are at NL100 too.

Huge terps game vs west virginia thursday night. I smell BCS with a win....

Not going any better, worst probably by Oddeye, September 11

That one big downswing I've hit. Seriously how can I be so fucking bad lucky? I know when I tilt, yet I'm not tilting because I slept well but I should be so fucking extremely tilting because it doesn't make sens anymore. I end up w a 10buyin downswing in 2 days, but only few hours of play seriously. 1290$ and I had 1800$. What the fuck is the use of playing solid poker if the loose player hit the nuts whenever you think you can catch him. I got so many beats, some probably weren't played perfect but overall I just get fucked in the ass and I can't do anything.

lol prima by Trey, September 11

So.. if you run bad at Stars and don't have enough of a roll at FTP to 12-table .5/1.. what do you do?

Deposit $200 on Prima and take aggressive shots right? RIGHT!

http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/1518/lolprimadw0.jpg

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6593/lolprima2mo6.jpg

In my defense, I only took shots because I didn't get rakeback and I didn't wanna get a $300 check in the mail. $1100 is fine though.

Annnnd back down again by Mayday, September 10

Wow.

So my session began with me being a bit to aggressive. It seemed like people just loved to call everything. So I tightened up after being down 2 buy ins. But I started running really bad. So bad.

I lost two hands where I was a favourite in a re-raised pot preflop and either it was all in pf or on the flop, and the guy flopped a flush vs my tptk or overpair. I had a hand that was all in pf, my AA vs 55 and A8. 55 hit a set, A8 hit a straight.

Then there was this sick sick hand where I flopped a boat with KK on a K55 board.. The other guy had 55. So sick.

Anyways, I dropped 5 buy ins to $150, so I'm gonna go back to 5NL and build back my roll to $200 and stab at it again.

poker is great when you win every day by ghaz, September 10

I think I've had one or two losing days in the last month. It's so sick. I just seem to login and win and then log off.

I had a pretty good day today playing a mix of HU and six max. I took another small shot at 5/10 HU.

Everything went right and had a few all ins against draws that missed.

Quick update by Critterer, September 10

Beat: I've been running sick bad recently and not motivated to play and my confidence has been low.

I've been playing some MTT's and some nl10 cos i feel i can absolutely crush the game, ive basically just been funding my MTT busting with the nl10. Getting really fed up with tournaments ive busted the last like 10 without making the money once, and not one time has it been a situation where im not a) coolered to fuck or b) suckouted on massively (one that springs to mind is the AA vs k4o allinpreflop near the bubble, that was special).

Oh well maybe my luck with change and ill win a tournament someday but until then ill continue spewing and trying to improve my tournament game. After running bad and cashing out and shit my BR on stars is at a low point of around $400 which is pretty shit, ive got about $150 combined on other sites but its still low. Since im super-unconfident atm i will probably play nl10 for a bit more my edge is huge at this game i dont know why, i can sustain 10bb/100 at nl10 but then i move to nl25 and it all goes to shit, maybe its a mental thing, i dont even think its scared money though since ive racked up like 100k hands there. Sigh.

Brag: Life is otherwise good though, starting university again on the 22nd, have spent way too much money going out and shit but i did manage to pull 4 different girls in about 1 hour at some random club on saturday which was cool.

Variance: I was too drunk to really remember what any of them look like but i think they were alrite! And i didnt get to go back with any of them, and since i was crashing on a mate's floor i cudnt take any of them back with me. Also had an arguement with some random girl that taking a picture of me kissing her would be fine she thought it was not cool so i was like stfu bitch im sustaining 10bb/100 at nl10 can u do that? no. To be fair to her i did ask this as pretty much the first thing i said, i still think shes obv an uptight womans rights bitch.

However In one of the photos (all my mates are absolute facebook whores who take 100000 pictures every night its like wtf) from the night theres a well random guy in the background who looks like hes alone in the corner and has pissed himself which is quite funny i thought. (im the one in the front)

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/1861/roflbackgroundke1.jpg

Dunno why i did the brag beat variance thing i dont even like it but i did it so there we go.

Also thanks to kevin (gawdawaful) for tha free poker lesson, even though i managed to run awfully bad, it did mean i got into some really interesting spots so the advice was awesome and definitely worth what i lost in the session.

Probably wont play all that much since i got freshers week coming up which is awesome, even tho this will be my 4th freshers week when really i shuda graduated last year (LOL). Fuck real life im gunna grind university and poker forever.

WTF MAX TILT?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Oddeye, September 10

WOW, I've been running EXTREMELY shitty tonight. To a point where I am like WTF? I've had shitty run, but I just lost around 7 buyins in like ... 2hrs? I've also lost one 150bbs all-in preflop, didn't save it but the usual KK vs AA.
WTF WTF WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit :lol http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/269344

I am still shocked about it, I didn't lose it here and here, just big pots and big lost. I am really really really tilted, I wasn't until those two last pots(2 first), totally killed me. I think I'm not gonna go to school tomorrow just to win it back... Yeah, clearly.

Edit: I'm curious, is it worth pushing the JT hand?

title pretty much says it all. Since turning stone, I have been playing mid-high stakes, and playing well. Dont have a graph because I just got a new comp, and new PT(got the 17" macbook pro, its fucking unreal btw). I have been running fairly shitty, but I have been playing better than ever(for the most part). My confidence is still really high despite running bad. Hopefully ill start running a bit better and really start to bring in the money.

Turning Stone trip by JerseyMuscle, September 10

So four of my friends (who are not 21) and myself made a trip up to Turning Stone this weekend. Now we've been trying to get up there for at least 6 months, but there's always a schedule conflict or someone doesn't have the money, but we finally made it up there.

So we got up there on Friday night, and two of my friends go to play 100max (blinds 1/2 there) and two of them play 200max (blinds also 1/2). I decided to sit at a 200max table with the full $200 and just play real tight. I think I raised 4 hands in 2+ hours and limped maybe 1 or 2 more. I raised 88 to $10, after not playing anything for 30 mins, and instantly there was 4 people in the pot with me. Flop JQK, time to GTFO. Raised AA twice; first time took down the blinds, second time got 1 caller. Flop came AK3, and I bet out and he insta-folds TT. Oh well. Last hand I raised was JJ; made it $17 from the button after 2 limpers. 1 caller from the BB. Flop comes 247, he checks, and I bet out $25 into a ~$38 pot, and he calls. He checks the T on the turn, and I shove my last ~$65 in there and he calls with QQ. Oops. In hindsight, I could have checked the turn behind, but how often to people take that line with QQ+?

So after that I decided I'd get some food. I run so bad at Keno, so now I'm down a little more. I didn't really want to play too much anymore, but with nothing else to do I decided I'd go donk around at 100max for awhile before the tournament the next day. In summary, this table was ridiculous. Anytime I played right and waited for hands, I'd get terrible flops and check-raised on decent flops. Frustrating. Any time I played terribly, I'd make back all the money I had just lost. I don't really remember the details of this table, but I know I played on it from 2AM to 6AM, then went upstairs to sleep.

Tournament started at 11AM on Saturday, so naturally I wake up at 10:45 and have to rush down to make the tournament. 105 people started the tournament. I'm seated with mainly 30-50 year-olds and one guy who looks to be in his mid-twenties. Tournament structure at TS sucks; 3500 in chips to start (and thats after the 500 extra chips for $5 dealer-tip) with blinds at 25/50 to start. 20 minute levels. Ew. I decided I should probably be a little more aggro than usual, just because of the structure. First hand I get 66 from mid-position, and pop it to 300 after two limpers. Flop 679 and I take it down with a C-Bet. A few hands later I get AA, and a raise in front of me to 200. I make it 800 and he calls. Flop KQ4, he checks, I bet, he folds. Cool. In the SB a few hands later I have AQs. Here's the hand where I busto, and I wanna see if there's anyway I can get away with it, other than PF.

1 limper from seat 4. Seat 5 makes it 300. Seat 7 calls 300. I call 275 from seat 1. BB and limper both fold.
--- *As an aside, I thought about raising here, but OOP and with 2 guys behind I didn't want to be chasing AK or something, and instead of folding, I decided I'd just call and see if I could hit 2-pair+ or a flush draw or something.*
Flop comes AcQh2c. I check, hoping to draw out a C-bet from the original raiser, or hope he has AK. He does bet, 300 into the 1000 pot. Seat 7 flats his call. I check-raise to 1100. Seat 5 shoves all-in for ~2200 total. Seat 7 shoves all-in for ~3200 total.

So now here I am with top-two and flush and straight-draw board. I'm almost positive that seat 5 has AK or AJ, so I'm not too worried about him. I had a lot of trouble trying to put Seat 7 on a hand. I figured his range to be 22, a decent-sized A, KQ, Kx Clubs, or something like that. It's real hard to put him on something like AA-QQ because he didn't raise pre-flop or post-flop on the first go around, plus it'd have to be the case 2 queens. I decide to call since the only thing I can really put him on that beats me is 22. Is this a pretty good analysis of the situation?

Anyway, Seat 5 turns over AK like I thought, and Seat 7 flips QQ for trips. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I'm going broke there almost every time. I brick the turn and river. I'm out a few hands later when A7 loses to K5. 103rd place FTL.

So I went to get some more food, ran bad some more at Keno while everyone else was at least breaking even. I came back later that day and got on the list for some $4/$8 Limit Omaha 8/b. When we finally got a table started, it was myself and 9 people over the age of 50. if you've never played limit with old people, it's not something I'd recommend. They hate raises pre-flop on on the flop, and they call everything. Plus this was Omaha, so more suck-outs please. I decided to play real tight, which seemed to be working at first. Then I'd play just a high hand like AKJT and it'd be all low cards. Then I'd play A23x suited and it'd be all high cards. Then I'd flop straights and big flush draws, only to see paired boards or other flushes hit on the turn and river. Ended up losing a little over $100 there.

At one point I took a break from Omaha and played some $10min blackjack, where I dropped $100 in a little over 20 minutes.I picked the dealer with the Andre Johnson jersey, and he just rocked me, much like he rocked the Chiefs on Sunday.

By then I was pretty much done playing, but I got real bored sitting around for 5+ hours, and then it was decided we were staying another night. Sweet. And I'm out of monies. So I get staked for a $30+6 SNG. I was sitting in 2nd place for most of it, just picking up blinds and sometimes betting out from the BB when I hit. Then I got KK. Blinds were 50/100, and UTG+1 min-raised. I raised to 800 from her left. She calls. Flop comes Axx and she insta-pushes. Guess I fold. She shows AJo. Sweet. Next hand blinds were up to 100/200. She open-shoves from UTG, and I call all-in with AKs. Immediately I knew I made a bad call. She flips AA, GG 7th place.

So that was my trip to TS. Now I'm gonna go back to grinding micro-stakes. Later.

Starting to grind again by Daut, September 10

I've started a few new backing deals lately and because of it my online roll starting to get pretty short, so i decided to stop fucking around in new games, hu sngs, plo, mtt, and to just grind cash for the most part.

I've been doing so poorly in mtt it really angers me. It seems like every tourney i either run bad or play bad. I never run well when i play well and the result is terrible results. I'll have to concentrate on that for the rest of this month, as wcoop is coming up and so is WPT borgata, but for now im going to try to mainly grind cash and just play a few tournaments a week.

here are my stats so far this month in NL. I havent played a lot because i wasted all of sunday playing mtts and i was down the shore for 5 of the other days, so ive only really had 4 days to play.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/Daut/asof910.JPG

i think for the most part im playing well but ive had some slipups here and there and I can definitely play better. the session i played today i was very happy with the way things went and i think ill try to grind out 2-3k hands a day from here out.

There's one problem preventing me from grinding. The air conditioning on the second floor of my house is broken, so its about 84 degrees up here. I have trouble staying up here for an extended period of time, so my sessions will most likely be 2 hours tops until its fixed.

Sleep phase alarm clock! by hansen jr., September 10

Recieved it today and my first impression was that it looked pretty straight up baller. It's def a little thing every baller should have. The "chill out" sounds seems so great as well to relax to when ur about to sleep. I'll test it now for a week and tell you all what i think, lets hope I'll be satisfied with it!

Pokerwise I'm down like one K this month, I've only played like 7k hands though and I havent been playing my A game either i think. But I'm gonna watch some CR videos now for a couple of days and then totally destroy 2/4 as usual.

Sincerely,
Vikator
