I was studying for vector calc today and decided to take a break and play some micro PLO games because I was bored. I'm still learning the game so I only play $5 1c/2c for fun more than anything, but I still try and learn from my mistakes. Here are a few interesting hands that transpired today during a very short 45 minute or so session in which I made about 3.3 BI. Feel free to critique:
1) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/281265 - I don't know if this is a good fold or not on the flop, but after one call I thought it'd be best to drop it with little chance of improving and a good chance of another pot sized lead on the turn.
2) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/281266 - Here I thought he might have been making some sort of play with an A3hh hand and that the other guy was just drawing or calling down a weaker Q. I thought I had the side pot on the turn so I just put him in. Should I just fold this on the flop, especially with another player yet to act behind me who is getting a better price to draw if I call?
3) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/281272 - I think the raise on the flop is standard, and on the turn I don't think he has a boat if he isn't raising my lead, but should I still be potting with a pair on the board here?
4) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/281280 - I think that this one was just awfully played by me from the get-go. I should have just folded pre, but as played I thought I had to lead out on the flop. I thought I could 3bet here for some reason, and then I guess I pretty much had to call the shove on the 4th bet for that price. If anyone could comment on my flop action as played please do.
5) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/281289 - I shouldn't have led out on this flop and probably should have folded to the raise, but I kept going on the turn because I thought I picked up a lot more outs for a good price.
In other news, I still haven't found my missing pants and the citations haven't come in the mail yet, but I am hearing that the school sends the parents a notification of the arrest because it's a violation of the school code of conduct or some bullshit (even though it was off-campus and I'm over 18). I'm going home this weekend and haven't told them yet, so it should be an interesting weekend if those letters do in fact get sent before I get there...
Last days was not very good, because it was very bad...
Since i started playing nl10 again, the last few days/sessions haven't been very good. I feel i'm playing a little strange and my winrate has gone down... suckouts are bad and i'm having a lot of bad luck.
Sweet, beside that I was up a bit just from c-bets etc, made some quick moniez. 56$ in 100 hands, yay! It's been a week since I redeposited, so... here's the week's stats!
Only played 1k hands/day as you can see, October I'm going to try and play 2k-2.5k a day, and maybe go nuts on weekends and have some 8 hour sessions.
I'm rolled enough for 25nl, but I'm gonna play it safe at 10nl until I have 650-700$ and move on fully to nl 25, maybe just mixing in 1 nl25 table with my 10nl tables.
First off let me apologize for spamming the Blogs box... Decided to start doing this blog thing and wanted to put some old posts from another forum up here as well.
Also another disclaimer: There will be many boring posts in this blog. Why? Cause I mainly want to use this as a type of "Poker Journal" where I can keep track of my winning/losing hands for sessions to analyze later, while also allowing friends and the public to give feedback. So most of the posts will just be a listing of hand histories with my thoughts on my mistakes, or asking questions on how to play them better.
Now let's get started for today's post... Where am I? Oh yeah, broke. Well, not literally but my live cash game BR got kilt. Or killed. Either way I had to spend my last night of Costa Rica poker in my hotel room with a shady wireless connection that kept crapping out on me. Despite that challenge I still pulled about 3.5 buyins, which seems to be my regular rate when I have a winning session.
Looking over things I had a lot more significant winning hands than losing hands, which is nice to see. I've started going back through PT after each session and looking for hands with a net of over 10 big blinds as either a loss or win, and examining those hands. I'm going to take the 3 most confusing winning hands and 3 most confusing losing hands of each session and ask for advice on em, and below I'm gonna list all the rest for future reference. Also, people who are really bored or who like me a lot can go through the rest and give feedback. I'm guessing I'll only get help from the former category... it sucks being a newb.
On another note, my fellow sMi poker player Salad has gone and blown his BR... again. Please visit his blog here and make fun of him.
GRAPH TIME!!!
Well I figure it's about time to post some SS's.... but I don't have the damn graph program yet so just a PT SS for now. I started playing NL cash games at the end of August, so this represents the last month of play. I think I could have done better if I wasn't working and traveling so much, but I'm still happy. Planning to move up to NL25 when I hit $750. Why such a huge roll? Cause I play better over-rolled, and I am doing a "rolling bankroll" strat where you move up to your next level with a cushion of 5 buyins so that an early losing streak doesn't mean you have to move right back down. So instead of moving up at 25 Buyins, I move up at 30.
1) Should I just call this and hope for calls behind or am I trying to shut out? Figure since he's all in I probably shoulda just called... if it was only 1 guy behind I'd call for sure, but 2 made me worried. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280955
2) Should I bet out this flop? Was the CR too big? Didn't want to give a cheap draw to a flush... Should I just call here or make a smaller raise? http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280973
3) Villain is very laggy - should I ReRaise the turn or was the call fine since I had position and he might bet into me on the river? http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280974
5) Was tryin to take this away from him with the GS and 1 possible OC. Seems to have failed. Better to call or fold? http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280981
3) Here I got worried on the turn... if he'd had more money I might not have called. Hmmm... is that a bad approach? http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280957
12) I saw this guy raising a lot to steal my blind, so I started playing back at him and getting him to lay down. I had a feeling he was getting frustrated and would get aggr w/ very little and with so many outs figured I was good. Went well =) http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280975
3) This guy put a move on me, which is so rare here at NL10 that I just auto fold most of the time and need a read on someone before considering to keep going. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280985
5) This guy folded to nearly every single ContB, so I figured he had at least a 7, and probably an overpair when he called. Then his turn check got me thinking maybe it was a 7 or a Flush Draw... but he was very tight PF, so probably shouldn't have made that guess. Meh. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/280987
That's all for today... but stay tuned cause my next post will be a fun one about me getting stacked - over, and over, and over again.
took a shot at 100nl fr, 4 tables. i ran stupid hot, winning 3.5 buyins in 100 hands and then didn't do much for the last 300 hands. pics because it did happen:
i turned 21 last weekend and took my first trip to ac. i've been to turning stone a few times, but ac seems so much more +ev, especially at fish casinos like the hilton. like how i won the second tournament i entered (40+10, 24 ppl, 400 for first ship it) and found some complete lagtard jackasses at 1-2 (managed to lose a $500 pot with QTss all in on Tc6c2d flop, board running clubs and he shows Qc3h....sick life).
so this saturday they have a 200+25 75k guarantee that i'm thinking about bulldozing. wish me luck.
So this month is looking quite good, i'm just planning on grinding the NL400 to NL600 tables for a while and probably take shots at 5/10 when my br hits 50k!
Aside from that i'd like to go to Seattle for WCG, but i'm not sure my money would get in my bank account in time to book the flight, so i might miss it
Also life is pretty good, going well with girlfriend, and i'm working on a business plan that consists in developping a community of leaders, basically because we need more entrepreneurs, and less sheeps... it's going kind of slow as of now but one thing i learned is as long as you don't give up you have never lost. So, define your dreams, set high goals, exceed them, success!
just to document this beforehand, i'll be winning the $320 6-max WCOOP event today. i decided against a half-stake and will be having 100% of my first prize profits.
I've been back sessioning NL200, with only $100 buyin (which is the same max buy-in as the casino near my house.
I fit into the dynamic very well and sustained a very nice winrate tonight, winning 5 buy-ins.
Heres my stats from today and tonight (a marathon session at my new house)
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 7152 hands and saw flop:
- 347 out of 957 times while in big blind (36%)
- 142 out of 948 times while in small blind (14%)
- 465 out of 5247 times in other positions (8%)
- a total of 954 out of 7152 (13%)
Pots won at showdown - 116 of 238 (48%)
Pots won without showdown - 873
Hmm trying to learn to play this game, very frustrating to say the least!
I keep getting top set and then flush hits every time vs 2 opponants so its like lol great there goes 1/3 of a buyin.
Down about 3 buyins lifetime at nl10 on this game, idunno i just find it confusing, ill get there though. Makes a change from holdem anywya and the players are even worse than i am at this game.
again. Last session was a nice nine tabling 700ish hand session which could have gone a bit better. I started off by stacking 3 different retards at 3 different tables, then my stack pretty much slowly dwindled down because of min-raised cbets, missed flops, missed draws, and one nasty set over set with 150bb stacks over the next 600 hands, managed to finish up 24$, damn good for less than an hour of half-assed play.
Really strange that this time I seemed to tighten up pretty dramatically as compared to last time I 9 tabled. I'm going to attribute it to small sample size though. AF stats were also a lot more how I like them, 9 flop, 1.5 turn, 8 river. I'm also negative with aa, qq, jj, tt, and marginally up with kk, so I'm pretty amazed that I ran at 11.53/100 over the miniscule 7k hands I played at 10nl. Yeah, I know it's a tiny sample and I can't draw many conclusions, just a little oddity I noticed. I'm not really sure why, I've definitely been chucking overpairs with discipline when faced with big aggression and all, maybe I'm either folding them too often or just running bad with them.
Tomorrow is going to be 25nl 2-4 tabling, I'm gonna have Jamie sweat me, since my lifetime winrate at 25nl is like 2.3/100 and I could clearly use the help, and I'd really not like to have to move up and down these two stakes 4950809 times.
im the biggest shark at my small pool...lolby whamm!, September 25
forgot to update my blog for a while. almost lost remaining confidence in my game due to lack of discipline and not sticking or having any sort of clear cut goals and just plain impatient with my roll. before i float the idea of quitting online poker, i had a light bulb flash, "why not own at the local cardrooms here to offset my swingy online run!?!" so that's what i did for the past month, live poker everyday! i run goot at live, winning at such a ridiculously sick winrate, like 19 out ot 23 sessions, and losing just about 5 buyins total for the month and winning like 564934095bi lololol. i love poker!
I also ran KK into AA (and every other KK was greeted by an Ace on the flop), and JJ into higher overpairs from shortstacks four times. I am quite disappointed with this session, though, as there was a lot of spew on my part (calling people down light and trying to push people off hands, which I know you shouldn't do at this level). I didn't adjust properly to the looser play at this level, and tried too much PF stealing with garbage. All in all, a pretty bad day.
Campaign mode was kind of dissapointing and the story didnt really go anywhere and the ending is weird and open. Graphics also dont look that much better than halo 2.
after dominating multiplayer for a bit:
-shotgun is overpowered
-sniping is now way harder almost to the point its not worth picking up the sniper on small maps
-sword draw time is increased so you have to wait a few seconds between taking it out and attacking
-grenades and melee are both weaker
-battle rifle is pretty much the same thankfully
