| | End of the Year Parteeeeeeees by JonnyCosMo, December 23
So this semester was pretty much awesome from start to finish. I got by with satisfactory grades for the most part (personally I thought I fucking ape smashed excellence into SDSU's grading system considering I didn't go to like 75% of my classes), and now I'm back home in Northern California just chillin with my old friends like the good ol' times. Decided to upload photos from my camera from the past week, kind of disappointed that I got no good photos from Vegas other than these:

Lyric doing his laptop thing at the Wynn
http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/VE02.jpg
Mango showing off the fashion in the PokerStars sweat shirt
Yea, thats about all the ones I could get from Vegas since they didnt allow flash photos in the Bellagio around the tournament area so all my pics of the tourney came out super blurry. So after coming back from Vegas I decided to chill in San Diego for a week with my friends, and my best friend from Hawaii flew down to visit since his school was finished as well.

My best friend Kaz
Meet Kaz, he's like the chillest kid I've ever known. I've known him since freshman year of high school. He loves reggae music, smoking pot, and long walks on the beach obv. Anyways, he came on tuesday and we chilled around San Diego until my other friends finished their finals. Thursday night a bunch of us went to eat sushi, along with my boy Mike King (the guy I dressed up as for Halloween), which is a really rare thing since he barely leaves his house caz he's the laziest kid ever.

Sushi at Mizu's!
And then after we went to Sandbar on Mission Beach...

And then I don't really remember the rest, but I have pictures!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/VE08.jpg
On Friday, Kaz cooked some awesome stir fried shit w/ white rice and we had a family style dinner. We headed to Typhoon Saloon in PB later in the night, and it was fucking freezing outside so we didn't really stay very long. We came back to my friend's house early, and that wasn't much better since they have no heater in their baller ass pad (what baller pad has no heater! No heater = No justice!) So they use a bunch of these portable heaters to warm up the house. Needless to say, they don't work so well...

Sup punk? Something for byrnesam to photoshop obv.

One of my best friend who has a problem staying warm
Going to be in Norcal til the 3rd of January, then I'm not really sure what I'm doing after that. My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this month and she hasn't been doing so well in the hospital. Because of this, I am kind of up in the air on whether or not I'm going to the Bahamas this year. My parents think this might be the last Christmas we have together with her so the mood around the family house is kind of down. Doing my best to stay optimistic about it all, I'm not really religious or anything, but I think I might go to church on Christmas for the first time in a few years. For those of you who are religious, please keep Grandma CosMo in your prayers!

| | Please turn off my doomswitch, Lee by beethreekay, December 23
Lee, I don't know what I've done to you or PokerStars to deserve a month of doomswitching, but I've learned my lesson. I'll do whatever it takes. I'll eat my vitamins and say my prayers. I'll help an old lady across the street. I'll be less of a nit and contribute more to the rake. I'll spend my FPPs on overpriced cookies instead of cash bonuses. I'll buy a copy of your book. Hell, I'll even buy a Moneymaker medallion if it will help. Just please, PLEASE turn it off.
Today: KK into AA twice. AA raped by AK in a 3BI pot, all-in on a K hi flop. Shortstackers putting half their stack in pf with T8o and flopping trips. A couple of two-outers. Good news is that I only finished down about 2BIs, and I'm tilting less. I still need to play better in smallish pots (10-20BB, which PokerEV says is where I spew a lot of EV), and make less calls on the river.
I was watching the New England Patriots play on TV today and it's amazing to watch a team actually justify the hype (admittedly for only one half today, but still amazing). It's kinda cool to be watching the team that everyone will talk about in 20 years having their "season for the ages" as it happens. Betfair puts them at 5/6 (1.86), and I definitely think they have a better than 45% chance of winning the whole thing. I'd put their chances at closer to 65% right now. Maybe the easiest way back to 50NL is to put my entire bankroll on them.

towards the end of the day
came back to play one more session after the game and lost like 2BI at 200 doh
Heres a graph for today, first 1800 = 100NL 12 tabling, next w/e = 200NL 6 tabling, then 2 tabling of 100NL HU for $400, then 8 tabling 200NL 6max for -$400 or so

| | Fuck this im playing BW by collegesucks, December 23
for the last two sessions I've had the best run of cards pf and the worst run post flop. I think my mistakes account for like 15% and just ugly variance for 85% of what happened so far. Here's a sample of that 85%:

If anyone sees a player by the name of dmmoose tell him to die in a grease fire for me. I absolutely outplayed him in razz which is a stupid game that none of you should learn and he sucked out maybe a million times and i still won 400 dollars. I have mad skills
On a different topic if you were able to read all that Im probably gonna be a guest pro for cardrunners and gonna teach you fish how to play razz. Looking forward to make it hopefully it wont be shit and someone will watch it:D

| | Vegas and a sick Goal by franchise, December 23
I got back form Vegas a couple days ago and am now hanging around Knoxville for some time during the holidays. Overall Vegas was a good trip, it was fun seeing the Bellagio poker room packed everytime we walked in, regardless of what time of day it was. I played 25/50 while my buddy played 10/20, and both of us did well. I got to stack Phil Laak on a good call and apparently antagonized Vanessa Rousso in one big bluff I ran. Pretty funny stuff, but I'll leave the details out here. So I ended up a little over 50k in that game, playing some interesting pots and getting chastised for being young (wtf?) and the entire gamut, now I'm ready to get back to online and focus and crush. Unfortunately due to a stupid staking deal I traded 1/2 of my friends action for 1/2 or mine, just incase I busto everything i went with or something to that notion. Well, he won 10k at 10/20 and so we each got 30k. Bad beat. I came back home to Knoxville and put in 2 sessions, ending +20k, so now I'm up 63k online this month, and I still have a few days to lay back and grind.
And with that comes this personal challege to me. I've been feeling like I want a new car recently, even tho my current one only has 10kmiles on it or whatever. Check it out here: http://autos.yahoo.com/2007_mercedes_benz_slk_class_slk280_roadster/
Anyway take a look at these whips theyre so sick:
The Mercedez CL550: http://autos.yahoo.com/2007_mercedes_benz_cl_class_cl550_coupe-slideshow/?tab=gen&i=izp_angularrear#imgs
Or maybe the BMW M6: http://autos.yahoo.com/2007_bmw_m6_coupe-slideshow/?tab=gen&i=izp_angularfront&a=all#imgs
Ok so sometime soon I have to go to the dealership and get my car's 10kmiles checkup, buy maybe I'll come back with a whole new car altogether. So I decided that if I made enough bread (im saying 60k would be enough to upgrade) between yesterday (22nd) and the 31st, I'd get the car. Now, this should be feasible assuming I game select well enough and play some real volume. Today I played a 1700 hand session that was pretty nuts, ended up good so I can't complain. As of this moment I'm up 11.2 out of the 60 needed. Updates to come, I'll keep you posted, in the meantime help me choose between a car!!
Some obligatory hands from past session:
Inducing the bluffs, thats what I do:

| | Goin to Paris by SugoGosu, December 23
Thats right everyone, I will be heading out for Paris, France in the last week of March. I will be visiting with my family and probably during that week head out and visit Rome and London. I will be 18 so maybe I'll sit in a card room if my skills get up and ready.
My sister is leaving for Paris to study at the American Business School in Paris for the spring semester. any ideas of what to do once in the french country? I bought Rosetta Stone French so I would at least be able to ask where the bathroom is in their language.
P.S. I hate my internet connection was up 1 buy in, and I was dealt 1010 1 guy goes all in (30 cents, on NL5) One other caller

| | Hey everyone! by try, December 23
I'm Jim, Was really good to see the blogs of some old friends from starcraft aka ("people that owned me"). I messed around with poker before, but after finding this site and reading... This time I'm going to do it the right way and follow good br management.
I bought in early this month to Cake with 100. The rake REALLY helps build bankroll not to mention the deposit bonus.
Basically my mentality is just to earn rake and if I happen to win even better. This is good for me because it keeps me from being
to aggressive.
I tryed .02 .04 and it sucked! I couldn't take it. At first I got REALLY mad when I would lose AA to something like 74o preflop all in. Then I figured, If my only losses are to suckouts, then I must be getting $ in when I should. I am one of those kids that can't deal with tilt whatsoever, so FOR EVERY bad beat I take a break or go to the gym or w/e. This really seems to work for me.
I got back on, using standard bankroll management. (20 buy in). I started playing short stack grinding 6-10 tables at .05 .10.
I'm up to 600.00 in just 2-3 weeks nice! Im really happy, I did something really stupid thou, I cashed out 200.00 for extra money to buy christmas presents so I'm still on .05 .10 oh well.
I wanted to post my progress via pokertracker but it doesn't work on Cake, as soon as I drain the remainder of my deposit bonus I'm switching to another site. Prima or Stars.
PS: Never give up, I really sucked when I started. Bad bankroll management, and way to aggressive. I'm not even going to tell you my fulltilt poker name on pokershark I have a fish icon... Lets leave it at that.
Practice is all anything takes, thats why starcraft players on this site are so good.

| | Small downswing whine by bigbb33, December 23
On like a 6 buyin downswing or so, and I feel like shit. Not because I'm losing money, but because I'm losing badly. Jesus fucking christ, never, ever, bluff, Mr. Bigbb33, at 50nl. People call with so much shit, makes it pointless.
I've tried some big river bluffs lately when I thought my opponent was weak: everything they shoved over. Wow. Why do I even try. Whenever I do get it in well, of course, they hit some fucking miracle outer and I
lose anyway.
I tilt really easily vs my bad play. Bad beats are less of a big deal, but jesus does (what I consider) bad play fuck me over. My bad play.
Okay, time to learn something from this:
1. Whenever I have a big hand, play it with the same timings as when I am bluffing in this downswing. I really think timings are v important at 50nl, because retards make reads based on it. Timing down 20 seconds before raising the river with air = insta called by crap. Lesson: time down 20 seconds before raising the river with the nuts and get paid.
2. STOP FUCKING BLUFFING against people who aren't fucking geniuses. This always confuses me. I feel like if I never bluff I'll never get paid, but then everytime I bluff they are shoving it in, ie I shouldn't bluff. I think I'm gonna nit it up hard on turn/river raises as bluffs and see what happens, combined with using really long timings before betting for value. Hopefully this will pay.
3. Stop looking at cashier. Ever.
--
I'm gonna make this into a week long challenge, actually. Rules are gonna be pretty basic, nothing stringent.
1. No big turn/river raises as bluffs unless I have a very good reason to do so. Has to be 100% good read to make the bluff.
2. Use my old bluff timings as value bet timings vs bad players. Against people who might pick up on this, do whatever.
3. Don't look at cashier except at end of week.
4. Play hands nigga.
Will report back with results.
