wheee by WilsWils, January 21

When i first started this blog, i believe my first post and main goal was to get back to 100nl FR , which was where i was before i began my -3k downswing, tilting off my bankroll that i worked 3 months for due to bad beats, and playing retarded when angry.

The goal was set in october, and im glad to say i'm sufficiently rolled for 100nl finally! It's been a sick and rocky road, patching up leaks i developed from my tilty play when i swallowed my pride and moved down to 25nl grinding and grinding.

Ive had plenty of fuckups along the way mind you, and grinded breakeven for 30k+ hands twice, at 25nl and 50nl respectively, combination of bl / playing far too loose. (which is kinda ironic because apparently im like 18/13 50nl fr or something)

hopefully i dont get bl smashed when i move up

I'll stay away from 25nl for a while coz it's really been hurting my play at 50nl. maybe ill play their too mindfuck struggling 25nlers, take their monies, and destroy their hopes and dreams lolol

Blog English by RaSZi, January 21

Hey, I been blogging for a while now on pokernews.nl and since new year I blog in english too now and I'm gonna crosspost them on lp.. so enjoy i hope.. ..

Life and Live

As mentioned before I hardly played online poker, so Wednesday we finally had a live tourney again. I didn't go to the PCA (Elky u stupid #$%#$%^, nah but congrats FO REALZ) and I'm happy with that decision. I traveled so much I needed some time off and play some online. Luckily I only did stress increase stuff online so I might as well start travelling again . At least I don't have time to donk off my bankroll online. I drew Jorryt (TheCleaner11) to my direct left, which is just a nightmare. I think out of all the people playing in the tournament I would like to have him on my left the least. Don't matter that much tough, cause I always enjoy talking to him.

I ran into his Kings with my Queens but I could have avoided paying him off on the river, more on that in my next article. I had to make a tough fold with {kh}{9h} on {9s}{3s}{9c} {5c} {Ad}, but it was a good one. Mad folding skills yo. I worked my way back up from 2.5k (10k beginstacks) to 13k. In the meanwhile I got moved to another table and had Joris Jaspers on my left this time (JazzyDonk online). I always feel like he plays kinda similar to Jorryt, so not much improvement. He had a huge stack and was really active. The table gave him too much respect from what I understood from the tabletalk. After a while I called a pf raise by him with {Td}{8h} from the big blind. We are superdeep and he raised 2.5x plus there was a caller I had position on, so small blind.. (GEE REALLY). I flopped {9d}{Jc}{Qh} en he had {Ks}{Tc}, good game lex.

I skipped the 1k event, cause I was dead tired and I had a really bad day Wednesday. The cashgames went pretty badly too, but I had a lot of fun with Bart Spijker and Ton (Patek3970) on the table. They are just awesome and I love their humor and the way they taunt me. They always call me bat and vampire cause I'm pale as fuck and play such long sessions. They always make vampire/bat-related jokes which just crack me up. Anyways I stayed at home and decided to play some online poker the evening, but more about that later.

Today I went to a Greek restaurant with Remi and Niki and e watched 300 tonight. They didn't see it yet and I just bought the HD dvd, enough reasons to watch it. The screen was spectacular and the movie rocks obviously.

That made EL OH EL. Or as we normal people say in europe, lol. I would say that word so much less if i actually had to spell out the words, like americans do (no offence). El Oh El , Oh Em Gee...

Online Poker

Mehhh it was kinda rough on saturday. I started at around 10. I was playing 3$-6$ NL shorthanded. Everything went pretty uneventful, but I had a feeling everything would be alright and I would play until i was up a decent amount. Unfortunately this moment never came. Hence, I quit playing monday morning at 3 am. I lost about 20 buyins, but I feel I played really well. I made some strong folds and calls here there.

Example:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/365963

I switched games a lot from 2-4 and 3-6 to hu to fullring to 6-max. That kinda annoyed me. I need to get my discipline back, which is part of the bet and moreover, part of my life the last year. GET THE EYE OF THE TIGER ONCE. I need to pick a game and stick to it and grind it out and set goals. Not goals as in terms of i want to make 50k this month, cause I think those goals are retarded and work against playing ur A-game. Im seriously considering to go back to 1$-2$ NL and just grind out 50k hands. I'll make a boatload of money there anyway and it's good for the discipline. Another advantage is, that I have some room to move up, which will improve the chances of me winning the bet. If I can move up two levels, there is so much troom. And I could do shit like not play HU up until I played 100k hands 3-6. I probably will fail that cause I love playing hu and I feel it's my strongest game.

I'll keep u guys posted about what Im gonna do and about any goals. I also need to get my pokertracker back up so I can finally keep track again of raw results and so that I can manage my goals better. I need to make money!!

Side-bets

My bet is going pretty well so far and I don't expect to get a lot more action on it. Enough motivation I hope and if I fail i'm just stupid . A friend of mine has a very interesting bet in Vegas. Him and Good2Cu were talking at a table in Bellagio about prop bets. One guy said he could live in Bellagio for a month. Not leave the hotel etc. I think that's ridiculously easy cause you have everything at your disposal. I think I could go 3 months in bellagio easily. Fuck, I could probably do it without sleep. Anyways, Jay one upped the guy saying he could stay in a bathroom for 30 days. The rest was like no way obviously and they actually put money on it. Here is a video report cardplayer made about the bet, talking to Jay. He is a stand up guy and one of my favorite people in Vegas. I really hope he makes it and I'm confident he will. Take it down Jay :D.

http://www.cardplayer.com/tv/29893

Another small news fact is that our 'friend' (we all think he is an asshole, but we treat him nicely cause he is very sensitive) Rekrul is gonna be playing in the prestigious NBC Heads up event. He got invited because he won a bracelet in the HU tournament at last years WSOP edition. It's really cool and to be honest I think he is a top 5 favorite in that event. Half of the people kinda suck anyway and Dan is pretty experienced live. Good luck !

For those of you who enjoyed the darth vader clips, I found something hilarious. It's a pretty long one but a must see. They implemented voice clips from the original Darth Vader voice (Mr. James Earl Jones) from other movies he played in and dubbed them over scenes from Star Wars. I was almost rolling on the ground so enjoy.

See ya next time. Tomorrow im gonna try and work out and see if I can put myself to actually go again.

Ciao.

2nd session - Stilll cant win by nomanirvana, January 21

Played a bit looser this time, tilted away at least one buyin which im not proud of, here it is:

Here are my losing hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367131

This is the tilty one I was talking about. Should've been an easy fold on the turn I think and I guess the 3bet preflop could be bad. His pfr was 15-16 so I figured his button range was pretty big.

And here is the only significant hand I won:

poker hud! by Ftrunkz, January 21

well i finally got around to getting poker hud, but I'm having one big problem! I have my preffered seat on stars as seat #1, but whenever i load up a table, the stats load as if i was sitting at the default spot on the table, even tho i have my preffered seat set in PAH.

Anyone know of a solve to this? I've searched forums with no luck

Variance Slaps me in the Face by Benzooor, January 21

So I had to cash out the majority of my roll to buy a new TV (65" 1080p sweetness) and b/c I had a big live game loss right before the holidays and wanted to get my family some nice shit..

While I was broke online I decided I would just treat my online roll like a mutual fund, IE rather than depositing 200 or so into my savings account each month I would just put it onto Stars via eCheck and play low limits extremely rolled.

So I've just been happily playing NL10 FR. It was working out well for the first 15k hands but this graph shows what's happened the last few days. It seems like I just can't win a big hand. Sickening. Feels kind of nice to be super rolled though, I was at $570 before this downswing hit and I'm still super rolled. Going to follow a 40-50 BI rule, so I'll be at NL10 for a month or two more until I'm ~1k and move to NL25.

But yeah, sick life graph. Been having to fold ALOT in big hands when flush draws hit / worst turn-river cards possible come and opponents go nuts.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/a9d051fdd1173e1e3504f6b969bd62f7.jpg

I have been going through all of my big losers and I really don't think I'm playing all that badly, I'm just not winning. There are some leaks I found and hopefully will have corrected for the next session I play, though.

Week by Sloverville, January 21

Didn’t get the chance to fit in 20 hours this past week like I had hoped but still had a nice week at 50nl. Next week will be 20+ hours, guaranteed!

Is there any kind of software that calculates the percentage that a specific player folds if his cbet is raised on the flop? A stat like that could be extremely handy.

Cold weather sucks.

i need help/advice by shaneomac, January 21

This year started off very well @ the beginning, however recently has been tough. whenever i run bad, i try to find more positives than negatives in it, and this is no exception. this is not a whining post, because im not upset about running bad. i made a deal with my girlfriend that if i can make 20k come beginning of may i dont have to get a summer job, which i think is definitely doable playing FR as i am. however, recently i just feel like all im doing is just trying to safely beat NL200 FR and none of my tiny stabs @ NL400 have gone well. that said, i always see higher stakes players making great reads and stuff, and all i feel i ever do is play my hands when i have them and fold them when i do not. it kinda becomes repetitive and i feel as if i am not progressing. i kind of want to get back into 6max and integrate that into my games because i want to begin getting better at poker and i want to start progressing as a player. does anyone have any advice to me as far as how to begin progressing/stop playing the mundane boring style of betting when i have it blah blah and learn to bluff, pick off bluffs, make solid reads, and all that stuff. i feel like i have the capability to do it, its just i never have. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

-thanks, shane.

Raping NL2! by NiTE, January 21

As funny as it may sound to the experienced guys here, i really am raping the shit out of those fuckers at 0.01 and 0.02 tables. I constantly feel im in control, a couple of days ago i think i truly realized the importance of position. I no longer feel bad about folding AJ (or AQ) UTG and i feel in complete control even when raising with A6 or K8s on the button.

My losses are minimized(in relation to before), my reads are pretty good, my valuebetting is solid. I feel like im 10X better player than huge majority there(its probly true).
Honestly, i no longer find myself in situations where i dont know what to do, im usually pretty sure of my decision. I feel like i could write a pretty solid NL2 guide.

Anyway, my BR just got over $100 so i'll try to move up tommorow. If I start losing, i wont go down till i hit like $60. However, i dont think people at 0.02/0.04 are much better so i expect to rape there too.(yeah im modest)

Here's today's session:
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/4/1/21/t_hand031m_ff912b8.png
My aggression factors are ridiculous lol; Flop 15; turn 6.5; river 2; total 8.92. LOL

Here's overall stats of the last week or so:
http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/4/1/21/t_hand032m_49945da.png

What can I expect at NL4, and when does it really get harder?

Looking for leaks by nomanirvana, January 21

Quick session, played relatively tight:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/3be5978b0aaca5549738c829f2779bad.jpg

Here are some hands that im questioning, both big and small:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367020

Made a move here b/c I thought the player was capable of being bluffed. Im thinking it might be better to just push over his 3bet rather than 4betting but im not sure. Its a risky play at 25nl because people are fishy but on the other hand there are also alot of really weak/tight players that will never think im semi-bluffing here and I thought he was one of them.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367022

This guys stats were like 50/27/2 do you think a raise on the turn is in order or is it better to flat?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367026

Same villain as above (27% pfr), so I 3bet him with AJ and checked the flop b/c I thought betting out would kill action from anything I beat. Thoughts?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367031

Dry board so I slowed down on the turn trying to get action from weak hands and vbet the river.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/367038

Looks like a cooler basically.

move up in stakes? by ReSpOnSe, January 21

well I started playing poker about 6-8 months ago with 5 bucks from a friend, I got that up to 100 then fluctuated down to about 65, cashed out for 50, and gave the rest back to my friend. About 2-3 weeks ago I asked him for money again, this time he gave me 30 and i was stuck at 30 bucks at .01/.02 for about a week, mainly because of bad beats/suckouts and a few stupid plays. I finally started gaining bankroll, and I am now up to $112 playing .01/.02 12-15 tables, now here is the question: I'm wondering is $112 enuf to move up to .02/.05 or do I need more? If I do move up should I play less tables since it's higher stakes? or is the skill level not much different. Thanks in advance and I will probably continue to update this post on how I am doing.

Small update by TianYuan, January 21

So after the debacle that was yesterday (see previous blogpost for details, or don't, probably better for my overall reputation as a non-retard tilt monkey if you don't!!) the first thing I did after breakfast today was sit down and 4 table 2/5 again. I had decided that I would move down if I dropped down to 13k (I'm actually not sure exactly how much I have, because the £ sign can't be displayed on this computer without me rebooting and I have cashed out and stuff, but it was probably around 4 more buyins from where I was when I started today).

Anyway, I'm feeling alright, focused, brain working unlike yesterday, and 5 minutes in I get stacked QQ vs KK. But today is different, today I was not to be tilted. Felt nothing, reloaded, continued playing, and finished up after playing some poker that I was very happy with.

There were a few hands that I think I misplayed, but overall I am very happy with my decisions and such today.

(Note: for the majority of my session yesterday I was happy with how I played, just at the end I totally lost it, thankfully I had the presence of mind to instaquit after giving a buyin away).

So, graph from yesterday:
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1550/01202008tiltty5.jpg

Today:
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/2793/01212008kr6.jpg
So basically today and yesterday cancelled eachother out (with a tiny bit of profit).

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366672 - Thank you, thank you sooo much CaptZeebo (if this doesn't make sense to you, I'm refering to the Zeebo theorem, ie, people never fold full houses, so overbet for value if you have a hand like mine).

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366892 - One of my notes on him said "Doesn't like to fold", thought I was valuebetting all 3 streets not just the river

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366893 - Couldn't decide if I should bet river or not, I sort of wanted to just because it's a card I'd use to 3barrel a lot, but meh.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366897 - Ok, I'm not sure I love my play here.. Hm, the guy minbetting is really bad, I checked cause when he minbets and the other guy calls, I definitely have the caller (who seems like a good player) beat, and the donk can have a veeeeeeeeeeery wide range, and is probably calling a lot of that. But then he instaminraises me and I go wtf. I'm not sure what I'd have done in the moment on a complete blank turn.. Maybe I'd have wimped out but I think because of how bizzarre he plays I might have forced myself to call.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366894 - I love this guy so much

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366895 - Aww come on, at least give me some hope to suckout!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/366904 - Don't like my play here. On the turn I think I instachecked (hoping he'd bluff some draw that missed on the river), then when he bets 20 on the river I was really confused about what to do.

It kind of looked like he wanted to bet 200 but typoed? I'm not sure.

Eitherway I ended up making a stupid minraise hoping he'd do something spazzy, which I think was kinda stupid .
Better to raise to like 180 or something, I think he might call it reasonably light since he might think he induced it.

I guess two other options would be to felt the flop or bet/call turn, but I didn't think he was gonna go apeshit bananas with like AJ here (obv AJcc).. MAYBE AQ? I dunno. Anyway, I think I played it pretty poorly on the river

In other news.. Had second MMA class today (meant to go twice before but the first time I couldn't decide if I was going at first and then suddenly it was too late to get there in time, oops, the second time I read the time wrong on the schedule, double oops).

Anyway, I did some MMA a few years back but quit cause of time contstraints (which is a nice way of saying I wanted to get into the top 32 in the TLTour ladder.. got like 38th or 34th or something, booh). I missed it but always put off going back for some reason, so it feels great to be back.

Also awesome that unlike last time, I'm not dying of exhaustion after the training, I guess running paid off (still not in great shape obviously). Takedown/throws fucking kills you tho, grappling, standup, it's not THAT exhausting, but having to do that and then get up and down/throw people is sick hard on you.

New Years resolutions, status update:

- Sleeping schedule: FIXED (god I feel sooooooo much better sleeping at reasonable hours).

- MMA: started =]

- Go: Ehh, need to get to this one..

- Poker.. ........ I bought a wii. And I've been lazy. I think I've managed 6k hands this month. Hopefully when my 30" monitor arrives from the PS store I will get my shit in gear and do some serious playing

I'm really happy with how I've progressed just between this and last month. I managed to implement many things that I wanted to, and it's really showing in my play I think (ie my att to steal is much, much, much higher than before, my W$WSF has shot WAY up, and in general I'm playing more poker and less 'make big hand, win money, make no hand, lose money').

I think I should work on defending my big blind a bit more tho, right now it's pretty low, but not entirely sure what's optimal.
So to summarize, while I haven't played much, and certainly haven't been killing the games in the tiny sample I have, I'm confident I'm on the right track now and hopefully I can get into a good rhytmn.
