| | I'm CASHING OUT!! by Verbloten, February 01
Well i've slowly built some cash up online and i have recently decided to cash out most of it.
I'm buying a new computer!! And not really bothered with poker much now anyway - i'll try rebuild at 25NL when i feel like playing some poker - probably about the same number of hands as I average at the moment - about 500 hands a week.
I've set a budget of AUS$3500 for my new computer. I think I can get what I want and have enough left over to by some games like COD4, Crysis and UT3. Should be good.
Here are my new machine specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
2GB DDR2-800 RAM
2 x 74GB Western Digital RAPTOR HDD in RAID 0
500GB Seagate SATA HDD
Creative Audigy Sound
NVIDIA 8800GTX 768MB Vid Card
Antec "Nine Hundred" Case
750W Power Supply
22" Samsung 226BW LCD Monitor
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Logitech X530 5.1 Speakers
I can't fucking wait!! What you guys think of the machine specs? Anyone got any suggestion please let me know gonna order one in the couple of days

| | Doing the wrong thing by thestoryteller, February 01
I must hold the record for the daftest reason ever to keep playing poker. I'm playing it because I know I'm bad at it.
Consider:
I'm a mathematical moron. I blundered my way through A level Mathematics not understanding any of it (though still getting an A in the end, which shows how screwed up the eductaion system was). It takes a long time for me to understand poker concepts related to mathematics.
I have no eye for detail. It takes a long while for me to figure out how dangerous a board is and see potential straights.
I have bad multitasking skills. I can never do anything else while talking on the phone, and multitabling does not and, I suspect, will never, come naturally to me.
I am ill-disciplined. When I get to the stage where I actually know how I should play, it's hard for me to stick to the rules.
I am not a great risk taker. Betting high does not come naturally to me.
It's a losing proposition from the start! But...
Besides my full time job, I give English tuition on the side. I tell my students that if they stick at English and follow my instructions they will get better. Some time last year I realised that I was a blooming hypocrite. English comes easily to me (resolutely right brained, I think). The work I do in my full time job comes easily to me. But English does not come easily to my students. Some speak Mandarin at home. Others have never read a book in their lives.
What right do I have to tell them to do something difficult when I haven't done something difficult in years? And, in a way, me playing poker is easier than them learning English. They're younger and they have several other subjects to keep up with. I can learn at my own pace.
In the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird", Atticus says that courage is "when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what."
I'm quite sure I'll never make it past very low low stakes, I'll never be better than most, but if I can just be better than myself...
Foolish, foolish! The very illogic of my actions betrays the unsuitability of my mind for poker! Yet if I was capable of logical actions, I would certainly have the capacity to win at poker. How's that for irony?

| | 1/12 of the way there. by RebuyFoolAA, February 01
That is until the end of the year. January was fantastic. I ran well in life and poker. I maintained my grades at the University while playing more hands and netting more $/BBs than I ever have before in a month. I also racked up more VPPs/FPPs than ever before. I feel like I made a big jump in my game style this month and have been utilizing some new strategy while playing 200NL. Obviously I ran spectacular but despite going throw a 3.5k downswing I still managed to break the 10k mark. This is one of the best highs in my poker career. I am super excited for the superbowl coming up Sunday and put a whopping 325$ down in bets across various betting ideas. I am way -ev so far in these bets but oh well, looks to be a good time. I hope everyone reading this is having as good of a time as I am lately. Also if one of you are rdog I was playing around at the tables today and it was just funny how you over reacted so hard core. Anyhow graphs below, GL at the tables guys!

| | Im the most unlucky player in the world by SakiSaki, February 01
Its a phrase that is tossed around alot but I feel it is not far from the truth. I have always been serious about taking responsebility for my results, and I definitely know I havent played all hands perfectly but I still think Im playing really good. Mostly Im thinking way ahead of my opponents and my dicipline has gotten alot better. I dont think most of you guys can even comprehend how frustrated I am right now. I dont mean to sound like a jerk, I know Im not special. We all go through the same variance and bitching about it wont help.
But I am actually break even/slightly down on FTP 2/4 over around 100k hands, this after consistently beating higher games for several months before this. When ever I sit down shit just rains down on me and todays session was no diffrent.

| | Fantastic month by sTrAtO, February 01
-Intro
-Winnings Summary
-Cash games history (PT stats + Graph)
-Tournaments (OPR January stats, Tourney screenshots)
January was great. I performed well at tournaments and learned a lot in cash games. I started the year with the objective to win $50,000 in 2008 and because I'm just a luckbox, I have achieved 40% of that already. I believe I've improved my game in tournaments and I feel very confident when I'm playing them. On the other area, cash games, I did well on my limit (NL200) and gave NL400 a shot but I felt like I was playing very spewy and that's why I lost a few buyins, as well as all my winnings of the month. Anyway, I think that I have to give higher stakes a shot from time to time to see where I really am.
As for my February goals, I'm going to play NL200 only and NL100 if I see that I'm running bad at NL200 or that I'm not playing my best game. NL400 is done for me for this upcoming month.
A winning month
In tournaments I ended up $21,769 and because of my NL400 shot, I blew up all my winnings and finished the month with red numbers, $242.
Given this, I won $21,527 this month. SHIP IT! :D:D
Cash games info
Here are my PT stats. I'm play very nitty on 6max, and I'm going to play more loose on February cause my style is very exploitable.
http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/6417/eneroptrg2.jpg
And here is the graph, for those who like to see them. (In my case, I love watching graphs)
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3383/enerographto0.jpg
Tourneys yo!
Here is my OfficialPokerRankings.com info. Just reduce $6756 of the profits, since I chopped at the Nightly 100k and OPR didn't know that.
Total tournament profits: $21,769 .

Nightly $100K :D

That's all for now, folks. I hope I can do better on February.

| | scammed ? by PplusAD, February 01
Lol i guess not really
neverthelless this is very strange.
I signed with Unibet
and a 3 month 60% rakebackdeal at
Rackebacklovers.com ( after the 3 month i will get 30-50% depending on how many FPPs i gather)
First this sounded too good to be true
but it seemed they were quite a quality site and they also offered some of the random rakeback deals any site offers
Like FullTilt poker 27% rakeback etc.
3 days left and nothing happend.
I wrote to support of rakebacklovers
they replied :
Thanks for your mail.
It takes some time since Unibet have to approve so many player accounts. You
will receive a mail that confirms that your poker account at Unibet is
approved.
Best regards
Philip Karsjo
---------------------------------------------
so i waited another 2 days till i recieved this mail
----------------------------------------------------------------
"
Your Unibet account has not been accepted "
------------------------------------------------------------------
just 1 sentence without any explanations ...
I instantly changed my password and Unibet ^_^
OFC i was pissed about that and atfer password change i immediately wrote the Rackebacklovers support
and recieved the following :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Andreas,
I will contact Unibet and ask why, and then I will inform you.
Best regards
Philip Kårsjö
RakebackLovers.com
a few minutes later :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Sir,
Your account was tag to another affiliate. So we cant track you to us. Im
sorry for this. If you still would like to have a good deal at the
Microgaming network. Please see our deal at Tellpoker
http://www.rakebacklovers.com/offers/tellpoker
Best Regards,
Alexander
RakebackLovers.com
I told them that this is total bullshit since i never ever played at microgaming network ever before in my life.
so how can i have an affiliate.
they replied :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear sir,
Can you pls contact unibet@rakebacklovers.com . They will sort this thing
out.
Best Regards,
Philip
RakebackLovers.com
So i told them the whole situation and i am still waiting for an answer
this was 2 hours ago.
>-<
On another note ... i contacted the german Unibetpoker support and recieved the following
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Sir
Thank you for your mail.
Unfortunately I am unaware about a promotion named "Rakebacklovers " for German customers. Kindly give us some more information's about this promotion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T_T
I still see a small chance everything will work out well in the end
since german support usually sucks and they almost never have a clue about anything thats concerning their job.
well worst case = i dont get rackeback
and a shitty site recieved my e-mail adress and home adress >_<
I can imagine worse happening in life
I am still kinda angry atm.
What u think about it ?

January is over so I'll post my results. Was a good month but I didn't play as much as I wanted to.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/55b7f52399106e5c9978af0dcd86819b.jpg
This stats aren't accurate though cause some tables I've played were in Euros. So the total score for the month is about 6.5-7k in $. Plus like 1k in rakeback or so. I was actually kinda surprised that I'm up that much at HU cause I played just 2k hands. Ran hot at HU but should've won more if not for some stupid spews. I also took a shot at nl1000 but lost 2 buyins there.
In February I wanna play a lot more but I dunno if it's gonna be possible cause I have another two group projects to do and obv I had to be chosen as a leader in both groups so everything is on me. Plus my friend from Poland is visitting me tommorow for a week. Then I might go to London for a few days. Probably to Copenhagen for EPT in the end of the month as well. But I'll try to put in as many hands as possible.
Past few days have been pretty degen. On Tuesday I went for a poker society at the uni. It started at 7pm. After 11pm we had to leave and Jon (TwistedEcho) suggested going back to his place to play more. We played till like 8am so basically 13hrs of drinking. I was pretty wasted and passed out on the couch. I don't remember too much but I know that I lost like a 3500bb (yes 3500bb) pot to Jon when I (not sure about this) check/pushed river with flopped trips (?) and he tanked with str8 and I dunno why but I showed him my hand so he obv called but I don't think he would fold this anyway. I'm not sure but I think that he gave me some moniez back which I obv lost again. Was a pretty fun night overall. Woke up at 3pm when my friend phoned me. Went home and rented 4th season of Nip/Tuck on my way back. Watched like 2 episodes and went to bed again lolz. Then woke up at 9pm. Watched like 3 more episodes and went to bed again.
Yesterday I went out again and obv don't remember much from the night so I assume it was a good one. Came back to my place at 9am and went to bed again. Woke up about 1pm and have been watching Nip/Tuck since then cause my internet was really bad. Now I feel like playing a bit. Gotta do some work for uni though cause I won't be able to do much when my friend comes. Then I'll probably just watch some more of Nip/Tuck and grab a kebab and go to bed. I'm hoping to study a bit tommorow in the morning before picking up my mate from the airport.
I also went shopping yesterday. Wanted to buy some clothes but ended up getting a new pair of sneakers obv. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get them cause they were like $180 last week but they just reduced the price so I instacalled. I didn't know this brand before. It's called Creative Recreation. Kinda weird and long name but I really like their sneakers. You can check them out at http://www.cr8tiverecreation.com/ I'm definitely gonna get a few more pairs from them. Anyways here are the ones I bought yesterday.
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/781/dscn3052dy6.jpg
The yellow checked part looks kinda weird on this photo but it's not that intense in reality.

| | New blog by Unicorn_84, February 01
Hello guys,
I think its time for me now to start my own blog. I am dutch and i think its a good way to upgrade my english language. I will shortly introduce myself:
Me is Jeff; 23 years old living in the Netherlands. Started to play poker i think 1,5 years ago. Just with friends 5 euro's sng's. I made my first entrance to play online poker 1 year ago at partypoker. I have to admit i was a degen. Played way over my br and obv i went busto several times, after deposits of 30-40 bucks. I am still working on my discipline. I think i finally found to be less like Neilly lol.
I quited partypoker, because i didnt like the badbeats there as well as the software. On stars i was playing a lot of 50NL with only a br of 200-300. When i was on a heater i could easily build it up to 1K in only 1000 hands. But then i became reckless and lost it all in a short time period.
Now i made a promiss to myself and thats just to play 10NL and 3,25 45 men sng's. Iam doing ok with this intention. Facts:
last deposit: $30 / 29/01/08
current roll: $171,14
I managed to gain this profit by 2/3 - tabling 6-handed 10NL, while playing 1 3,25 45 men sng at the time. I am planning to do so when my roll will hit around $700-800. Then i will take shots (again) at 25 NL and maybe i will also move up then playing 6,50 45 men sng's.
Well i will update this blog once in a while and hopefully i will stick to my plans in order to become a decent poker player.
gl all greetings the Unicorn!

| | I think I might need some psychiatric help by CrownRoyal, February 01
What I'm about to write is going to seal the deal. If I didn't already think I was fucked up and apeshit insane, this ensures it.
First of all - either there is such a thing as predetermined destiny and a "god" or my life is completely fabricated by a figure that might as well be a god. Whatever this force is it feels as if they are completely in control of my life. If you've ever seen "The Truman Show" I think it's something like this, except not.
Everything that always happens to me is way too predictable and unbelievable. My most recent example: In my life right now I am unemployed and no one is hiring me, I have no way to pay my bills and stuff. I recently made some unbelievable poker comeback and have money again. As soon as I get my bills paid I run bad and go on life tilt and lose everything again. Every single time that I have thought there was no way I could pay my bills I would hit an unbelievable rush in poker and everything would work out. Everytime shortly after - when things seem to be really successful I would fuck it all up and be back at ground zero. EVERY SINGLE TIME I GET TO A POINT WHERE POKER IS ON THE VERGE OF BEING LIFE CHANGING IT GETS SHOT DOWN.
And not just that, GIRLS. I can't even really begin to explain why this situation is fucked up and rigged but for some reason by the rules that are set up in my life I'm not allowed to be in love. Every fucking single time I feel that I might love someone and I know they are feeling the same way the shit hit's the fan. FUCK IT, I WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND I WANT TO BE LOVED.
I'm not saying that I'm even remotely special but this shit is just fucking ridiculous. My life couldn't be any better scripted for entertainment and it all just falls into an insanely predictable path and there is little to no content about what is really going on in my mind and what the fuck I think is wrong with everything but I'm not going to get into it
I'm so sickly life tilted right now that I could care less if I even died. I'm not some emo fag who is going to do it because I still have hope in the back of my heart that I can be successful, loved, and happy. The jealousy that lives in my mind for those simple things is so deep and such a burning passion that it drives me every day to strive for it.
fuck the world, fuck all of this shit let me be happy for once even just a little.
WHY CAN I NOT EVER BE HAPPY? COME ON LEE ONE TIME.

Then i had a day where i lost where i lost 170$. Worst losing day ever.

Been small stakes grinding ever since doing well at Turning Stone. Had some success with 5-10 NL live which was a huge confidence booster. Beginning of this month had some kinks I apparently had to work through and I have been I think. I think online full ring is better suited to my cash abilities which is nice to find something where I can play better. Hope to put in a ton of hands this month and make some nice money while hopefully moving up.
Oh yeah...and sports betting is still ez obv. GO GIANTS
