It's commonly known, that poker is a very unsure source of income over a short period of time.
"No! If I 24table NL50 FR 15 hours a day, I can't lose! mwhahahahah, FU variance!", is what I thought.
Well, turns out I was wrong
I played for 30 hours total during friday and saturday. I broke even (and that's only thanks to Sunday Million SNGs). It's all OK though coz I are dunecat!
On a more serious note now: even though I think I was running very bad, this made me question my play of course. I think it's nearly impossible for one to lose this way if he's playing at least decent - the probability of this is definitely much much lower than the probability that one's a donk.
I was very confused at first - for the most part, I was playing standard low-variance ABC poker, the way it's worked for me in the past when mass-tabling at the low-mid stakes - and still was losing. But as I didn't want to believe that this is just pure bad luck, I was searching till I actually found some leaks. Most importantly, I was definitely being too agressive in certain bad spots (this is also, I believe, why I was having some sick swings lately)... I brought this idea up before Joe, who thought for a while and then agreed that it's probably true. Another thing that played a role is definitely that I just wasn't playing focused enough or, more precisely, not thinking enough about most spots, the more "trivial" ones in particular. Normally this wouldn't be that big of a deal as I was used to playing lots of tables really fast, but after the downswing I had, I just wasn't in a good enough shape to handle this. So my plan in FR will now be to play a few sessions of just about 12 tables (maybe even less, I'll see) and when I can crush the game again, I'll switch to playing more again. I used to have some very nice winrates on nl100 and nl200 before, so this shouldn't be that big of a problem, I hope.
UBB code: http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/87cc31f82b63fad1fa214278088247a0.jpg
1) Somehow, not all the hands are included. I was actually down less and also made up for it with SNGs.
2) Sick rake. Why does there have to be a rake? *&$#%^ ;p
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Besides FR though, I've played some 6-max too. On friday, Joe offered me (by himself - he's sometimes a very cool guy ^_^) that he'll sweat me for a while if I want. "Why not?", I replied. And as Joe is no FR player, I loaded up some 6-max tables. I definitely picked up something during that session, but because Joe unfortunately has an aura that devours everyone's luck and adds it to his own, I ended up losing $150 (I think I've always lost when he's sweated me ;p).
Then again on Saturday, when I was quite frustrated from how FR was going, I decided to put my roll on Cake Poker to play some SH. I had rakeback there, a deposit bonus and the games were rumoured to be extremely soft. Saturday evening and all of today (played for only about 8 hours today though) I was 4-tabling nl50 6max there. The players were really terrible and although there were some runner-runners, I managed to win about $400 there (also probably about $100 from RB). Somewhere in between, I also watched a CardRunners 6-max vid by Brystmar and picked up a few interesting tips. After today's session, I now have found some sick things the players at Cake like to do and that I can exploit easily. For example, everyone loves to bluff pot on the river - they do this sooo often (probably caused by the combination of the bet pot button and their retardedness).
There's a sad bottom line to playing on Cake though. The software crashes extremely often, at least for me. What's worse, sometimes it will start flickering all of a sudden and fills all of my screen (actually my both screens) with artifacts. I tried searching different forums but found no solution. I tried messaging support, but it's been over 24 hours and they haven't answered me
Unless I can fix this, which is not likely as long as I'm playing on the same PC, I can't really play here. I've survived this for 2 days, but enough is enough. I'm moving my roll back to PS, where I'll probably play both FR and 6-max.
its been awhile since i wrote in here just because poker really hasnt been that interesting until a month ago. For some reason my tilt problem all of a sudden died down and i really dont tilt anymore. I used to get pissed if AK ran into AA or KK or QQ ran into AA or just a bad beat but now its just like uh ok cool il win that buyin back in a couple hundred hands. Ive been doin well lately and realized bankroll managemnet is deff the key to winning in poker. So ive been playing 25nl and 50nl and been running pretty good and playing pretty good. Thanks to the poker videos on donkeytest.com and sniderstyles 100nl. They really helped me out especially my 3 betting and everything. Il post some graphs just because i like to look at other peoples and maybe you guys like doin the same?
made it back over $400 so takin another shat at 10NL
bugs me that i can't buy in for more than $10
played a few $1 sitngos last night and did ok, in one of them i was heads up and my opponent just sat out aka we steal blinds REAL QUICK and scoop first place
hopefully i don't fuckin donk off a bunch of buy ins like last time
going to try and make a run for gold star this month, i think if i can do well at 10NL should be an easy scoop, i made silver star about a week before the end of last month doin mostly 2NL + sitngos so i think this is an attainable goal
i also plan on saving fpp until i get 5400 so i can try the 10 man sunday mill sitngo , hopefully scoop a seat and sell it for a quick roll boost
I have lost faith in both the idea that Im a good poker player and the notion that poker is a game of skill. I have moved to ipoker but my luck isnt changing and Im down about 2k since the move. After running bad for so long I find it really hard to make good thin folds and I keep questioning every aspect of how I play this game.
Todays biggest losers, I would appriciate any opinions:
I feel like I outplay almost everyone in the small pots but everytime i play a big pot I seem to end up losing. Im probably going to try and get one hour of coaching or something I think it would really help to have someone look over my game.
I sat down, logged onto my Poker Provider and started playing NL50. Some guy +2 on my left was making total moronic plays( going all in randomly, repoping with gutshots or total air). Then i pick up this hand:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=381621
I figure that he has a big load of BS or 99 / 88 / 77 here and repop him. Couple of hands before he played a monster very slowly so i snap called him since he had to have a medium strength hand which was beat by my TT.
2 Hands later i get 33 reloaded with 100BB and call his preflop raise and spike my set on a very very dry board. http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=381623
Totally frustrated me that he owned me twice with a 4-outer. I was -110$ then.
After that I pick up couple of QJs, KQs, AKs/AKo and raise in position and get either repopped or hit nothing on the flop... Then comes this hand http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=381618
I was kind of semi tilt because of what had been happening, He surely could have made a play on me with a weaker hand since I a) had been raising a lot b)lost two HUGE pots in a row to bad beats
I took a break for about 4-5 hours, went playing a little basketball and watched 'The bucket list'. A very well made movie with 2 Academy Award winners Jack Nicholson & Gordon Freeman. It is about two patients who have terminal cancer and decide not to wait for death in a white robe at the hospital but instead decide to live their last months to their fullest... pretty baller .
Made huge comeback with solid value bets on the river, some squeeze plays, a lucky KKvsAA and other payouts: http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2760/feb102vr7.jpg http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2133/feb103aa3.jpg
Did not make it to the green side today, but I was very happy about getting to the break even point.

Let's talk some basketball! Right now the Miami Heat are playing the Lakers on Sopcast. The addition of Marion into their lineup not only saved them the huge contract of Shaq but brought them on of the best players to complement Dwayne Wade. Right now their are taking too many jumpers and not taking care of the ball to much but it is going to be exciting in Miami in the next couple of years - to bad that the Lane to the finals will be clogged by LeBron & Garnett for the next couple of years - if not even for Wades' entire career by James.
It is going to be very interesting how Shaq will mesh with the Suns. He can be a real force against opposing big men. Especially the combo of Stoudemire&O'Neal will get Suns opponents into some real foul trouble... http://www.salem-news.com/spimg/february72008/shaq-suns.jpg
Shaq just looks SO f*kkin' old in this picture. Hopefully he has some Diesel left in the tank!

Kobe/Bynum/Gasol/Fisher/Radmanovic. How can you potentially stop them? If they stay healthy, they will be the main contenders for the future. Really reminds you of the Chicago Bulls, only that they are more talented, bigger, longer. Maybe a little less efficient on defense. The arms race in the West is the best that could possibly happening to an avid BBall fan like me!
Finally getting back in the grind. Playing the ftops series, not going too well so far, but theres still a good amount of till going to keep working on my nl HU game. I still feel this is my strongest game, although I have barely been playing any HU lately as ive been focusing on these tournaments and PLO. Ill keep working on it in the future, and do hope to be a respected high stakes HU regular by the end of the year(wishful thinking but goals are always good).
I have come to realize my nl 6m game is probably not as strong as I was hoping it was. I play extremely loose, and the way the games are these days, it does not seem that profitable anymore. I have been tightening up a but lately and its been working pretty well, and changing up a few different aspects of my game to be less exploitable by regulars(granted these regulars are not all that great...) This is not going to be a huge focus of mine though. Just want to fix these leaks so I do have a game to fall back on if I need a break from the other games.
Other than poker, school is going pretty well. I really enjoy my classes, and most are really easy which should result in a great GPA this semester. I am taking a pretty challenging philosophy class right now which I enjoy a ton and am considering possibly minoring in philosophy now(Chemistry is my major)
I am all moved into my new baller room and its sick. Once I get my desktop fixed to have my duals running ill blog pics from the room. I feel a lot safer having my own room with all of the expensive things I have. Also, a lot of my stuff has been stolen this semester, so that was a big reason for wanting my own room. I had 600$ lost by someone in my poker account, my 600$ volcano vaporizer stolen last Friday(someone broke into my car, it was directed towards the drugs because money was left spread out on the seat...), and my 160$ calculator stolen the next day(a party at the fraternity house.) All in all though, the whole fraternity thing is great. If you absorb everything its about, and don't just be the douche bags that only show up for parties and socials, there is a lot to gain contrary to the common reputation of fraternities. Its like running a business. It betters you as a person, and really prepares you for the real world. Right now I am secretary(working directly under our vice president) to our administrative board, an honor board chairman, and pledge educator. It keeps me busy, but is well worth it. I am sure nolan can agree with this.
Anyways enough rambling, tldr etc etc dont blame you. Gl at the tables, and by all means hit me up if you play PLO or HU and want to talk strategy, I am always down for it.
im running like shit i get constantly sucked out on or if not i play like shit worst part of everything was when i played like shit and got sucked out on
its weird that im not tilted nor worried about my bankroll since i lost 6x% of it over last 10 days .... this is what happened last 3 though
actual loss is around 200$ since PT got bugged had to dl a new patch and got like 30-40$ overloss
so im gonna take 2 or 3 days off and start off on 10nl with 26buy ins
damn is it normal that im not worried at all nor pissed just relaxed ?
So weekend is a huge heater (As much as i´d like to call this skill and uber ownage and awesome manipulation and reading talent, it´s a god damn heater), stats at;
I once again reach that magical 20 BI, i need to decide whether to play more NL25 and boost BR up (1050 now) more before taking a shot at NL50, or do it now... Tbh i think i should give it another go now that i know how the limit plays and how i best can exploit it, but i´m unsure.
Whhoooops.. I keep saying I'm gonna update it regularly, but I'm lazy. Everytime I think 'oh I'm gonna update my blog.... tomorrow'. Anyways today is tomorrow so here's an update :D.
EPT
I came back from EPT Dortmund, where I got knocked out by a German asshole. He isn't necessarily an asshole cause he is german. He is an asshole cause he slowrolled me. there was this situation where I raise preflop with {Kh}{4d} to 1100 in the 200-400 level and he repops me to 3000. At this point I think he is making a move with some semi-legit hand, like 88 or AJ-AT. He was whining a lot about how he was carddead, which lead me to believe he would sooner or later play a hand stronger than it actually was. I shoved for 14k total and my friendly neighbour took a couple minutes to call with {Kd}{Kc} .. that's very nice. Like I said so many times before... slowrolling is not cool. It's not a form of bluffing .. it's not a psychological aspect of poker. Judging from the movie below you could make a point saying he is genuinely thinking about the hand. It certainly feels that way, too bad he was thumping his buddies and highfiving other Germans and sayign shit like 'you see what i did to the Dutch kid.' Kind of sad.. but oh well. OH! And he does that fucking chip push to the line and then stop to get a reaction.. I hate that so much, seriously. Anyways here's the exit movie. It's in Dutch.. but I do say 'fuck' a lot.

Copenhagen is sold out and even though I think I could get in one way or another, none of my friends will be there, which makes travelling all the more unpleasant. I'll just go to San Remo and Monte Carlo. I actually bought in with FPP's for Monte Carlo last week. It was 1.1 million fpp. Since I'm backed I'll just get the 16k from my backers, since they don't care how I pay for my entry as long as I do it. So that's a nice cash bonus. The night after Dortmund I played a long session and lost 40 buyins spread around 1$-2$ 2$-4$ and 3$-6$ NL. So having some bonus is nice. San Remo I'll go to for a couple of reasons. I love Italy. I love Italian Icecream. I want to rape Daut at bowling. I saw he qualified yesterday.. poor soul. Daut of course will brag he is half Italian cause he is from Jersey, but he is americanized to the bone. I wish I was from Jersey or New York, I could use all those cool gangster expression from Sopranos, without looking like a complete idiot.
Online Poker
After Dortmund I had that terrible session, in which I lost around 17,000$. That resulted in a few days off as usual. Well it's not 'as usual' but lately it has been the scenario. I keep not playing poker lol. A big part of it is my addiction to guitar hero, but for some reason I cannot get myself to play when I'm rested. When you wake up completely fucked at 8pm there is little else to do than play poker. When you feel godlike (i.e. waking up at 10 am after 10 hours of sleep) there is a ton of stuff you can do. It's kind of fun to be among daywalkers again. Go shopping, see movies, eat etc. all the good stuff . I just have to find a spot to fit in poker, since I don't wanna build my life around poker anymore, but more the other way around. I played 3 40 hour sessions though.. the first one being the -17k one.
The other two were better. Oh btw, I dropped that whole 40k hands thing on 1$-2$ nl. I admit it, I cannot. It tilts me like nothing I've ever seen before. I simply cannot! So I'm gonna do a ton of hands on 2-4, even though I played a lot of 3-6 hu yesterday, so maybe nevermind that too. Yay for discipline. Last two sessions I won about 13k, which is nice. My average bb/100 = 17bb/100 hands spread across 2-4 and 3-6, which is a pretty solid winrate. I liked playing again, especially hu, I just think 6-max is so boring on lower limits. Everyone plays straight forward or all the regulars play the same. I had to add that cause on 3-6 Pokerstars they don't all play straightforward, but they do all play like they're on acid. I'll try to play a little more poker though. It feels weird not too.. poker has always been like crack to me..
Guitar Hero
I think this is the better drug that took a hold of me. This game is just too good. Ow someone got Raining Blood on 100%, for real this time, so I'm not gonna rick roll you. Here's the vid... MAD PROPS DAWG.
-lazy-3-40-hour-sessions-guitars-and-movies.htm
American punks lol . To give an indication how much i play: I just got the 100,000,000 million points achievement. On average you get 200k points per song and online matches don't count. They have to be from songs played in career, so that's kind sick. I have been playing a lot online too lately. I heard Evelyn NG played too, so I added her on XBOX Live and we've been playing a lot. She's really good and of course it's always cool if a girl is good at games. I hadn't talked to her in ages so that's fun. Apart from guitar hero we have another passion in common, YOUTUBE!!! She sent me this one, I actually never seen it. So to spread the word:
Tonight I'm gonna play some tourneys and play FTOPS too I think. I bought a shitload of new XBOX games and I'm gonna check a couple out today. Gundam, Burnout, Virtua Fighter 5 (Even though I wonder if there is ever gonna be a fighting game as good as Killer Instinct Gold). Some other games as well, so I'm gonna have an oldschool sunday afternoon. The only missing component in the oldschoolness will be mom-made sandwiches, but I guess I can order them :D.

So on my quest to my 100k year I have been playing lots of hours (for me) and logging lots of hands. Today I eclipsed the 33% mark to SuperNova for the year which I am stoked about. This month has been pretty solid so far and I am at 24k hands in running like complete garbage but up 4400$ still. I feel great right now in life and could not be happier. Hopefully I will bank ~12k this month and complete my goals of playing 60k at 6ptbb. So far it's looking like I will get the hands in but perhaps not the PTBB. I am running at 5.7 so who knows though. Well good luck at the tables guys!
I have money to play in most of the tournaments for sunday but i'd rather not use it and leave myself playing some gay stake that would tilt me, plus im not really rolled for most of them so i'll offer my services to play in absolutely any tournament with a buyin of $5 or more but preferably more than that
So most certainly im looking for a stake in the sunday 100g, but beyond that i dont really have a schedule or anything but im sure there are some good ones to play in.
Ideas for staking I have to make this easy: You send me X amount of dollars and I play in as many tournaments as I can with that money. When I am finished at the end of the day I send you your X dollars back + 50% profits OR if there is less than X left you get all of it back.
I must move down to Nl10€ again
since i dont know how it feels to win a hand anymore and that scares me
WON at SD 35 % over 2,5 K hands ?????
thats pretty low i guess since my average WOn at showdown normally is around 47-52 %
I am still in a kinda good mood though since i am satisfied with how i played most of the time.
The results are devastating but i was either a good favourite or in a setup where i could do nothing whenever i got my money in.
Funny things like whenever i raise preflop with AA KK nobody calls
whenever i do it with QQ JJ or AK i get 2 callers and flop is either A K X when i have QQ or JJ ; or QJ when i have AK ...
when i 3 bet with JJ+ i never get a caller
when i 3 bet with 66,77,88 etc i always get a 4 bet >_<
when i have a flush someone elese has a higher flush
when i have good made hand villian draws always hit ...
when i have a strong draw and villian has a medium hand
my draws dont hit and villian is a calling station >_<
well just the standart things when u run really really bad.
First of all I've figured out that Loco isn't asian, which shook my fundamental views of the world a bit, but that's not the important thing. So far I've seen the first 20 minutes of "Superbad" and it's like a poor ass version of Gavin Smith hanging out with a more awkward but slightly more heterosexual version of Daniel Negreanu. <3.
This session was down a lot doing spewy things (and getting bad beat every 2nd hand obv).

yessssssssss I might have tilted people enough to be back to even
(btw I can't believe he didn't hit running jacks)
end result up $10
Boo-Ya.
Overall not doing too well at FTP, bonus is only thing keeping me afloat. Halfway though clearing it and only up $100, bleh. Been trying out a lot of things and adjusting to the tougher games though so that could account for some losses.
It’s a cheaper way to get a lot of experience than splashing around at NL50 on stars and difficulty is probably the same or tougher.
Think I definitely play better vs grinders now, I’m thinking a lot more about ranges and creative bluffs.
Anyone know if I get to keep the rakeback that is appearing in my liquidpoker rakeback account? Or is it lost to bonus?
Anyways, back to stars now for a while, gotta keep up goldstar. (Lee trapped me good)
