after months of 10NL fuckfest i finally moved up =D

i think i ran at like 3.5ptbb/100 over the 30-40k hands which is pretty much a nightmare playing the low stakes but i finally FUCKING GOT OUT WHOOOHOOOO... i played like 300 hands per day on average but lol w/e

Running COLD! by flounder44, March 28

Hrm... after switching to FT i thought i was on my way to 1k. I turned 50 dollar deposit into 283 in barely 3 days of playing(id say no more than 20 hrs of poker on 50nl). I thought i had it made, i had 25 dollar stack going all in with 44 vs my QQ (im last ot act) etc. everything going my way.

Then the downswing happens. I was multitabling 5 tables each time and I could not get over getting standard badbeats on maybe two tables. I lost 80 dollar pots AA vs QQ PF, and also, Set vs flushdraw on flop. Before i knew it, i was shortstack on all the tables and was forced to go all in with AK's etc. Ran into brick walls a few times. I'm a type of player that used to fold AK on the dealer button but something wasnt right...
i was raising with AK, getting reraised by aces and shoving... very unlike me i normally fold AK to reraise.

Today i played prolly over 2,000 hands and down about 50 bucks overall. I dont remember getting aces ever and havent really played any pots.

Im writing this as i bust off my last $40 on FT and last $30 on UB.

I got my 200 dollar UB check today, i got $230 in rakeback coming next month, hopefully i wont have to use any of the 200 i received today.

Yes i know im a Degen but i've reached 1k plateu a few times just gotta play more poker, and school isnt helping me reach the higher limits. I think i will stay at 50nl till i reach 1500 and take a few shots at 100NL

Bit of an Update by Benzooor, March 28

Got some time at work today so I figured I'd update with some things going on..

After grinding up a nice roll on stars, I had a night where I came home after a party and probably 8-10 shots of Vodka and played some heads-up. Needless to say, I blew 95% of my roll and left myself with about 300.

As of now I had grinded that up to 3500$, started out 20-tabling .05/.10 FR, and played HU under-rolled on Friday nights and Sat nights -- ended up doing very well and then Moves to .25/.50, now playing 100NL 6max.

I really don't get much time to play online, only putting in maybe 1-3k hands a week. Playing 100NL I will probably end up being about 500 VPP away from GoldStar ><

I cashed out 500$ to pay off a long-overdue debt to my parents when I got fired from my job a year ago, leaving me with around ~3k. I think I'll just keep playing 100NL until 4k and then start taking shots at 200NL. I think my skill level is definitely above 100NL and I'm really looking forward to 200NL and up.

I have had a major revelation in my poker life of late. The biggest thing was that poker is a hobby / game / not a necessity. I only play when I am feeling up to it, when I am in a good mood and feel like playing. This has helped my results 1000% because I have been quitting when I start to tilt or take some bad beats and know I'm not playing well, and when playing I have been 100% focused. I keep a constant check on my emotional and mental state of mind to make sure that I should be playing, and avoid playing when in bad mindset or in a bad environment (too much distractions, talking on phone, aim, etc).

If you play poker on your own terms, instead of feeling like you *have* to put in a session, you WIN.

Realize this is a novel already, but played some live 1/2 NL at a local brick n mortar type card room last night and had an interesting hand. Let me know what you think of this:

Very early in the session, game had just started up and this was maybe the 2nd or 3rd orbit, 8 handed 1/2, UTG limps and I open to 9 from MP. Folds around to UTG limper who calls.

Need to note that I had been pretty active so far, Raising anything in good position if folded to me, and had taken down almost every one with a cbet -- I had just had to fold to a raise on the flop from a weak/tight donk. My image at this point is fairly aggressive. UTG limper was a decent player, plays the casino often and seemed to be paying attention most of the time.

Flop comes . UTG checks, I cbet for 12 (small I know), and he C/R to 30. I thought for a while and really didn't think he'd have a solid hand, I put him on the flush draw or something like QT or JT. I call, figuring I have many outs and the backdoor draw + hoping to push him off on a non-heart scare card turn.

Turn is pairing the board and giving me the nut flush draw. UTG checks again, I think for quite a while and decide to bet 50. He thinks 3-4 seconds and minraises me. I think about it for a while and just absolutely nothing makes sense for him to take this line. I don't think he raises me if he just boated up, and definitely not with a naked T. He's not playing T4 or 43 from UTG so I can safely rule those out. I figure he has something like 77 or air.

I shove for 59$ more than his min-raise and he insta-calls, dealer deals river which I really thought was a bad card.

I show my flush and he shows and berates me continously for how bad I played the hand.

However I think I played it very well. Any thoughts on this?

First day at NL25. by Ftrunkz, March 28

Well after last nights freak tournament place, it was time to see whether i not i could cut it at NL25. I 4-tabled with lots of breaks throughout the day, and don't think i did too badly.

I've decided... I should just muck KK preflop, this hand haunted me throughout NL5, and it seems like the curse is following me. I only had 3 coolers/beats throughout the day, and all three came thanks to the piece of shit.

Overall it was pretty fun. I think i went a little overboard towards the end trying to out-play people, but i still picked my spots relatively carefully, and never went hugely broke on a stupid 3-barrel. Hopefully i can comeback tomorrow and do the same, even if i just break even or lose money, i learned a LOT today just in the couple of thousand hands i played, and even ran into some LP'ers who were nice enough to bully the crap out of me with constant 3-bets and pushing over my c-bets when i would call them.

4/180 Staking by jase, March 28

Really desperately wanting someone to stake me for this.
60% profit + stake back to you (obv)

Had a really bad downswing at 6max cash. Cannot believe how badly I'm running, it's disgusting. Most hands are posted already, it's not a result of tilt or spewing, it's just horrid variance.

If anybody is willing to stake me for even 5 or more of the 4/180s please let me know. I'm not safely rolled to play them myself.

Nutshot has staked me in the past and will vouch for me being honest and a good player, he made a profit off me about a month ago when he staked me for 10 of them.

If you'd like to talk MTT strategy or see my 4/180 stats I'd be willing to share those too.
