I played a little nl400 6max today for the first time and I basically broke even or maybe down like $100. My HHs weren't saved probably because of the new update or something but I'm pretty sure I played like 23/19 or something similar.

| July summary by SakiSaki, July 30
Most likely not playing anything tomorrow or today so I might aswell summarise July. Overall things went very well. I didnt play as much as I wanted to cause the weather has been great and Im lazy when I run good. You gotta give yourself some time to just chill and have fun during the summer so I dont feel too bad about not playing as much.
Its also hard to feel bad when you have a 30k month.

With July Im booking my 3rd consecutive 20k+ month! Sweet!
Im very satisfied with my play this month and I feel like Im playing my best game ever. There are a couple of things I need to work on though.
1. Probably tighten up preflop abit. This one I am unsure about but I think playing 55/49/4 hu is probably a bit to loose and might be spewy. Ive been watching the pr1nnyraiding series on deucescracked and by KRANTZ standards Im a lagtard maniac. I just feel like alot of the players Im playing allow me to play this loose profitably so why not. I definitely need to tighten up when I play good players though.
2. Improve my agression on later streets. Sometimes when I go on autopilot I tend to miss good spots for agression on later streets. I also wanna lower my flop agression and try to even the agression out a bit.
3. 4-bet more! I think I call too many 3-bets and 4-bet way to less. Bring the noise yo!
Appart from this I feel Im really on my a-game. Above everything, I feel Im sooo focused, I rarely ever do anything rash anymore. I always think through my decisions carefully and thats helping my winrate sooo much.
I hope I can keep playing well throughout august so lets keep rocking.

I've also played a shitload of PLO and I think I'm up a bit but not that much. Getting pretty semi-decent at that game too though. I ran like jesus the first few weeks, then I kinda lost motivation to grind and lost a bit, ran pretty bad and probably lost like 5k€ to end the month. That's fair though, considering my winrate.
In august I have a couple of things I need to do, but I still think I'll be able to squeeze in like 40k hands or so, and I'll really try to grind it out on 2/4 and 3/6 to get a good month without that much variance or anything. I only need a few more semi-big months to get both a somewhat robust stock market BR and a good bankroll for 5/10. 100bi rule ftw. If I can maintain green numbers for a couple of months I guess I can say that I'm a good mid stakes reg.
This fall and next spring I'll study some law school crap but after that I might take a year off to play poker full time, or at least semi-full. Might study something easy just too keep myself sane. It'd be so cool to grind 5/10+ for a year and see how much money I can make.

Well July has been my best month to date. I am crushing the game I 25PLO game I play in and will be moving up immediately after finishing getting my school money together. I took the plunge this summer to do poker as a summer job with the back-up plan of going back to my old job if things didn't go well. The place would instant-hire me at any point during the summer so I didn't have any concerns. In two straight months now I have not had a single losing day. Graph for this month below. I am currently only $300 away from having all the money I need for the school year saved up. Wish me luck.

| Life Lessons by jewlian, July 29
If any of you bothered to read two posts ago, you'd know that I've been forced to stay out of school for a year. My greatest fear was my parents reaction but wow, what a crazy turn of events. I finally got the balls to tell them straight up and they seemed pretty calm about, even supportive. Not to say that my parents are Nazi's but they usually give a huge angry lecture after every stupid move I make. +1 for a life heater right there.
Poker? Wow, my shot at 25NL was pretty fail and what is worse is that I lost to bad players. Most of them were station donks and I suppose I tried to get fancy too often. Microstakes is microstakes and I simply don't have the hand reading ability to play LAG at these levels. I don't mind dropping back to 10NL, a little humbling is good for everyone once in awhile.
So, I have one year to do whatever I want...work? Travel? Volunteer? I want to do something good, maybe lend a hand in third world countries. No, I'm not being self righteous or anything, I've already been to Africa before to do this sort of stuff but short term. Another alternative is to work on my poker game but I'm not going to delude myself by thinking I can make it as a professional player. Some people have different strengths and weaknesses, I'm satisfied as being purely amateur for the rest of my life. I'm sure if I dedicated a buttload of time to it, I could become successful but I have other things in mind at the moment.

Well, not running too hot on 200nl in July, so no point showing a graph, its nothing impressive. On a positive note I’m going camping for 2 nights with my gf on the 31st of July so that should be fun since I haven’t went camping for over 8 years. I'll try to post some pics of our trip.
I also have a strange story to tell. I don't like taking my electives over the school year because i like to concentrate on my other core nursing courses and then take my electives over the summer. So I’m in my European history elective class and I usually wear one of my three pokerstars hats to class. We have 3 class discussions within the 2 months were we have to put our desks in a circle and discuss a reading the teacher gave us the week before. After a class a classmate goes up to me and says, "hey, do you play on pokerstars?", and I said yes, and told him I was "==PAV==", and he said "Oh yeah, I see you sit out on the 5k tables sometimes". So we have a laugh about that and I ask him what his username is, he said "thaaj2004". WTF are the odds that were in the same class. For all those who don't know thaaj2004, he’s a sick good player that plays on 5/10, 10/20, and 25/50. Real nice guy btw. Anyways, what a small world we live in.
