Fish Tank
  Karma, Feb 05 2007

Yeah getting a fish tank cos they're cool and have all kinds of sweet poker vibes, it should be pretty easy because I have a lot of experiance at owning fish
Looks shit now because it has none of the following which I will eventually have: Plants, bigger rocks and FISH

When I get the fish I'll name them after LP.net members

I expertly drew in some fish to give you an idea of what it will look like:

Anyway I bought a monster filter today that will mean I wont have to do much work, haggled with the fish shop guy to get the filter and some water cleaner for $150 (tag price: $185) Ship it dodgy asian dude
Paid in cash obv for dodgy discount

Check out this beast, it's bigger than the tank. The water is all dirrrty now because I put crap in it to get rid of the chemicals and get the good bacteria going. That dirty water simply has no chance, think of it as me playing some fish (Like Baal for instance) HU. Total rollover impending

Anyway decided to play some poker today to make up for the splurging on the fish tank crap, decided I MUST make $150 to make it ok. Lucklily it look me like 5 hands so I was able to hit and run like a true balla

You see true pr0s like me quit when they're ahead, sustainable obv

I really need to play more poker, I've played barely at all but unfortunately my internet is hampster powered and disconnects every 15mins so makes playing any meaningful session impossible

six max is for noobz
  nolan, Feb 03 2007

So I've been playing six max lately for no real reason other than to practice it and play against some stiffer competition. I've always been a FR player and I'm not too into the six max, but the sessions have been kind of interesting. Been at some tough tables I think. It's weird how many tables are just 6 multi tablers who always reload etc. I just find it odd because if there's no blatant dead money who's winning and who's losing? And don't they have the presence of mind to stay out of each other's way. 6max really is such an ego fest I think. Anyways, it's been going good so far. I'd say I'm playing a B/B+ game, which makes me wonder how well I'd do if I were playing my A game.

Some hands of note:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141404 - I think I like the fold, guys PF calling range is MASSIVE

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141403 - I decided I could only beat a bluff, and people don't typically bluff that close to the pot size. Maybe a bad laydown though.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141402 - I've had this same scenario 3 times in the last 2 sessions

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141398 - nothing better than sniping a bluff.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/141397 - This villain was a mega aggro style donk, I was actually thinking my A high was good, then his pause on the 4 flush made it pretty apparent he didn't like it. So of course I value bet.

Saw some familiar names at the tables. JonnyCosMo and Blizzy23 and such.

Why Stars Can't Be Beat
  jkpickett, Feb 02 2007

I played most of my beginning times at Stars, then moved to Full Tilt because of bonuses, etc. I then played UB for many months before trying out Stars again and I've had hand after hand just like the one below. I never saw this stuff at FTP or UB. I'm making more without the bonuses and rakeback just because of the fishy games.

some poker thoughts
  nolan, Feb 02 2007

When you play poker alot, and over a span of years, you spend alot of time reflecting on how you've grown.

I'm really proud in how far I've come along.

When people ask me what my best poker skill is, besides luck the answer is following my gut. 95% of the time I've second guessed my gut feeling and instincts, I've made the wrong decision.

Start respecting your instincts. You'll be surprised how smart you are.

That's all. Anyone out there know where I'm at?

update 3
  Raidern, Feb 02 2007

not much to say, but i'm quite happy because 2nd part of the "negotiation" I posted some days ago went really well. I got what I wanted in a nice talk with the guy. Besides this was also good for me because I was kinda worried with it, and since i'm somewhat of a shy person I was a little bit afraid the negotiation would not turn out ok, but it did :D

err, I'm also very motivated toward my studies this semester, I started studying every single day since monday (after the disaster of the competition last sunday), and I can pretty much feel it is getting 'incorporated' to my daily routine, I hope I can keep it up until the mid of the year, take some rest, and restart until december. There are some important competitions for me this year, one that i'm really looking forward to is coming soon, feb. 9, there is an exam that can cut off 50% of my expenses with the college (50% of the monthly fee).

thats it, bye.

Februarrry
  nolan, Feb 01 2007

Hey all, figured I'd maybe try updating this thing once in awhile since I said I'd try. Not too into blogging but might be a few of you out there interested in how I'm doing. Put in a few sessions to start the new month. Ran pretty bad overall but played pretty well. Definitely happy. Been playing 100nl on PS since I withdrew all my FTP dough because I'm a scared American. I'm a full ring player for the uninformed, but I've been dabbling in six max trying to get the hang of it for when full ring table selection is poor (which is more and more frequent).

I'll have to get imageshack or something up so I can put up some graphs and PT ss's. Here are some hands of note though:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/140559
I played this pretty poorly against bluffmaster corwin. Definitely should have shoved the turn. He claims he was on air, who knows.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=140546
This guy's timing and overall play makes me think I pushed him off something real strong here. One of my rare big bluffs.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/mytlnet/myhand.php?view=item&id=140544
Made a good read, happy about the call.

My Attempt at Sarcasm @ 2+2

For those of you who go to the above link I must put a disclaimer: The hand history I posted is fake (I doctored the hand history and changed my hole cards). In the real hand I had 55, and the guy had AA. The chat in the hand history, however, is actually real.

I want to see what kind of responses I get from these 2+2 forum regulars who think they know it all about poker. So if you guys read this blog entry, goto the link above and help me keep this bumped to the top.

Remember: This is 100% ment to be a sarcastic joke.

Another good session at 10NL
  tae-g, Jan 28 2007

I just finished up another good 10NL session.
It was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I ended up +3BI after 1.5 hours. 10NL is so fishtastic. Im on pace to move to 25NL in about a month and a half I guess.

This is why I LOVE 10NL

A dollar and a will to live
  CrownRoyal, Jan 28 2007

I'm essentially broke, and have a dollar in my ps account.

I've been in this situation before, i've went busto 2-3 times and the grind in front of me is looking dismal.

Since ive done this a few times I have a pretty good strategy for getting back into action.

First of all, I'll grind .02/.04 FL until about $10 at which time I'll start playing the $1 sngs and i'll probably grind up sngs until im at $400 from there I can 12 table NL25 comfortably. I'll probably play in all of the microstake mtts I can afford too. The are so easy and can be a real jumpstart to my bankroll if i get deep enough.

As I write this, my bankroll is 1.08 as long as I don't get real unlucky here right off the bat I should be rolled for nl25 in about 2-3 weeks.

wish me luck

1st Blog
  Cordite, Jan 28 2007

After a while of failed pokerstars deposits, I have now taken poker to the serious level. Ive made a new name Chordite on PS from Jubert69. Im playing pure sng style. 40X buyins per each level. Hopefully its going to work well. I am currently playing 3.40 turbo sngs and started with 45 today and ended with 178. Hopefully that won't go down.

Here is my hand of the day:

update 2
  Raidern, Jan 27 2007

I don't really have anythign worthy to say. Hm, this week I got backstabbed by myself. I completely forgot I had a job competition tomorrow (sunday mourning), and got tickets for the VIP section of a nice Concert that is taking place in my town tonight (saturday night). So yeah I got really happy with that ticket (it was more like a bracelet), but then found out I could not use it due to the stupid competition.

To make it worse, I didn't study shit . I think I'm going to use my frustration of not studying to this competition to learn something and never do the same shit (not study) again.

On a side note, more of a daily thing.. these days I joined the elevator with some old woman, then I said something like "mourning" or "good evening" don't really remember. But she didn't reply. I don't know how this kind of thing work in other countries than Brazil, but here we have the habit of saying hello to people inside the elevator, and OMG how can she, or any other person, not reply??? That's the minimum you can do "good mourning" back or something. How weird.

Btw, about the competition tomorrow, the only good thing is that I think I'll be able to watch the big final of Australian Open, but that REALLY doesn't make up for not being able to go to the concert . So sad, I can't abuse the VIP and it's open bar, I'm gonna cry.

bye

American Government vs. Lp.net
  jkpickett, Jan 26 2007

Wow, the people on this site are like the American Government nowadays. They want to act so f-cking superior and then come down HARDCORE on you for making the simplest mistakes. Make you feel like you've done something soooo wrong by posting a bad beat hand in the hand discussion. Geez, if I could give back everyone's feel seconds they wasted by clicking on it I definitely would. How can I make good on this mistake? How can I pay off my debt to this society? I've only posted a few hands over my stay here, but I'll definitely make sure and check the 100000+ others that have been posted before me and make sure it's not identical to one before. Get a life guys shit. And don't talk about this shitty government being so uptight because I see many similarities

I'm a losing player
  Roald, Jan 26 2007

so today I had my worst session ever. I lost 270 at nl100 in just over 1000 hands. Here are some good examples

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137494

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137493

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137492

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137491

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137490

I don't pretend to have played these as well as possible so any advice would be appreciated. I was dealt AA twice for a total profit of $6. Its not just today though; I'm down 7 buyins this week and am actually -$11 overall for nl100 now.

I always read people whining about their bad runs and really don't pay much attention. I don't enjoy reading about it. So I guess I am a hypocrite. I'm rolled well enough to drop 5 more buyins before moving down though so hopefully this will end. I might make a video just so maybe someone could point out anything I'm doing wrong. I'll have to see...

OMG I LOVE 10NL
  tae-g, Jan 25 2007

10NL is going so well right now! I just finished a 45 min session up 2 buyins. These fish will call with anything and stacking ppl sets VS top pair is so easy.

I feel good. If I keep playing decent/running pretty well I should be ready to move to 25NL in about a month or a month and a half

More Live Cash Games
  tae-g, Jan 25 2007

I played some more live 50NL with some college friends last night. I was continuing my usual domination of them (pretty fishy) when i had KJs and the flop came AKJ rainbow. I overbet the pot and get a call. Turn comes rag and i overbet again and my extremely fishy and bluff-tastic friend comes over the top allin, so i call. He turns over TT and i look happy. He gets up sad and about to leave, and I say, "wait, you take this with a Q on the river."

Sure enough that whore shows her smiling face and he takes all my winnings for the night so far, and i end up breaking even.

Definitely not complaining because these games are easily and profitable, and it was pretty funny when he jumped up screaming and yelling and like kicked over a chair when he hit his queen.

Also, im up 2 more buyins on 10NL and feeling good about 6-tabling it. Ill probably move to 25NL at $600 or $700.

GL at the tables all!

First Decent Session at 10NL
  tae-g, Jan 24 2007

I had my first good session at 10NL today. I only played for about 45 min 6-tabling 6max and Im up a little over two buyins. CR videos are really paying off, and its nice to see some results.

Only had 2 tough hands that session...ran into AA with KK and ran into a set when i flopped aces and kings.

I finally watched Rounders today for the first time too. I thought it was pretty cool. Im gonna take a few hours off for now to enjoy my marginal success and to study some CR videos.

Live Game
  tae-g, Jan 24 2007

I played a nice 4 or 5 hour game of 50NL last night with some college buddies.

4th hand of the night i flop a set of 10s and stack a guy. It was glorious.

Overall it was a pretty soft game, but there was one guy that suprised me with his pretty good play. Apparently this game is gonna be a weekly thing, so it should be a nice addition to my online game.
