Early morning session
  TianYuan, Jun 03 2007

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 435 hands and saw flop:
- 27 out of 88 times while in big blind (30%)
- 7 out of 86 times while in small blind (8%)
- 14 out of 261 times in other positions (5%)
- a total of 48 out of 435 (11%)
Pots won at showdown - 8 of 8 (100%)
Pots won without showdown - 65
+150$

Probably going to play more later, but it felt good to get 'back in the saddle', ran very, veeeeerrrrrrry well and probably should have continued playing but meh, I prefer to play it safe and get back on track slowly.

This was probably a really bad fold tho,
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/205684
The guy seemed tight (he's actually 23/15 over 180 hands) and I decided I really wasn't in the mood to push here, I'm also really suspicious about people who timebank reallllly long then raise you.

Another good reason to stop playing, cause I probably should want to get it in here =)

Broke 2k lifetime sng winnings
  CrownRoyal, Jun 03 2007

Well, I've always considered myself a much better sng/tournament player than cash and I've always enjoyed them since I played the playmoney games on stars like 3 years ago. I've had this account for my entire poker career and I've suffered through the good and the bad times of poker, if you notice my first huge downswing that was me starting to try to understand push/fold, I've never really read anything SNG related, I still probably have bad ranges in some spots I just go off of what my brain tells me is right and it apparently is pretty correct.

I think I have it down pretty well, I've got restealing mastered, I think I'm pretty much perfectly playing A game SNG now.

I'm not too proud of some of these ROIs, a lot of it is learning as this was my first account.

My 16s ROI is almost purely my recent play as I just started playing them, and I'm making a living off of them as of right now paying truck payments, insurance, and whatever else there is like beer and gas. As of right now I'm cashing out $25 every day, but I might start cashing out more since im playing the 16s now and not the 6s. Poker is fun right now, I think I might make a switch to cash for a while for some bonus hunting on sites with rakeback like Cake Poker, I'm not totally sure at the moment though SNG are going pretty well (Ive made over 1k in a month) Anyways though thanks for reading or whatever.

Cheers everyone

helacious run + tilt mokey
  NeillyJQ, Jun 02 2007

I underwent the worst week of my life on the felt last week with numerous bad beats, followed by many borderline calls.

-27bi ds

now, back on NL10 grinding back to NL25

This time around I'll be playing 40-50bi deep on all limits for extreme comfort

my first official run as a cash player went well, took some shots at NL200 and feel I know what I need to do to make it there to stay.

Mad props go out to doomer for all the assistance, next month we'll doomswitch all the locals @ your casino

--Update--

My BR is now 500 from 3200, I also lost some BI $ with multiple 10R's that I failed to cash in, as well as one of the nightly $150's that I went out just short of the bubble..

After running in such a way, I almost got stuck in reverse, and went down to NL10 to work out any obvious correctable errors in my game (I began spewing chips too much after I lost $2,000-$2,500, and lost another $400 foolishly like a "tilt monkey", hence the title..)

My BR management was definately not up to par during this DS, I could have cut my loses many times, but decided to attempt to make back the loses during losing sessions, which only further worsened my situation.

Obviously I'm still a novice when it comes to the pitfalls in poker, and have to work on my control in many areas, as well as deepen my thought process hand to hand.

Soon, I will clear my $650 bonus as well..
I think another 3,000 hands or so

I hope to be fully rolled for NL50 by the end of the week ($2,250 - $2,500)

Learning to play perfect poker is tough..
Hell, Rome wasn't built in a day

The mission continues to become a NL100 FR winner ITLR, and then the mission to NL1000 begins.

GL Everyone~ (30,000 to Supernova iOi)

"tower of terror"
Ibsu Bai Hui, Jun 02 2007

Yes well I have played 12,725 hands on 50nl at a loss of $306. I decided to remain stalwart or should I say stubborn and use the 20 buyin rule, meaning I still have a security net of over 4 buyins. I don´t know how that works out, I think it must be due to deposit bonuses I´ve earnt.

My opponents are such that you find yourself tempted to get in at every oppertunity - ie they are really really bad - but it has been difficult to find a balance between value-shoving, and overplaying.

Here are some beats since I started losing:

Here are some plays that were spewy or dumb:

Baal said it best, obviously and simply, "incest rape bondage ftw!". Wait a sec, I can´t find the right quote. It was something like, "if they are calling allin a lot, but you don´t want to spew by accident, the obvious inbetween is just to value bet every time."

I leave you with an absolutely unmissable 2-minute scene from some show called "The Apprentice", courtesy of my brother..

..and some complimentary Japanese upskirt TV.. cheers Brendan =P

Juggernaut Induces Tilt
  [vital]Myth, May 31 2007

IMPORTANT EDIT: BRINGING THE NOISE IS THE PATENTED TECHNIQUE OF POORUSER. HE IS A MAN OF MUCH WISDOM, AND I HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY HIM TO CONDUCT THE EXPERIMENT HEREIN DESCRIBED.

So I told my soon-to-be student, gawdawful, that I would be doing an experiment. I'd move to his stakes, NL100 6-max, for a short while, trying to improve my ability to annoy and tilt the aggressive regulars.

You know, do some really stupid stuff like...lead minbet the flop, and when raised, insta-min-3bet. I would also do stuff like 3bet to half my stack preflop, or min-3bet somebody 4 or 5 times in a row whenever they raised. My goal, as I explained to him, was to cheaply and efficiently build an image that made regulars hate me. I wanted them to target me and to try to force me to play large pots, when they were holding medium hands or outrageous bluffs. Regulars have gotten fairly good at playing ultra-standard TAG style where they 3bet a lot, cbet a lot, and snap off cbets a lot as well. So I want to throw them out of their element, play a weird, unfamiliar game and do things they're not used to, because my understanding of theory will overcome their stylistic solidity. Plus they're tilt-monkeys.

After explaining all this, gawdawful commented that he'll make sure to avoid my tables while I'm at his stakes. I said that would be a good idea. So when I began my experiment, obviously I sat at one of his tables. He said in the chat, "guess it's time to sit out "...but he kept playing.

It wasn't long before I took my first stack from him. He was raising a ton of buttons, to $4, so I was 3betting to $24 or more in the blinds. "Be a man and put half your stack in if you want to scare me. Otherwise, the noise is coming" were my thoughts. I could almost feel his blood boiling. He was steaming and he hated the fact that I was picking on him. I definitely made it clear that I had come to this table and sat next to him for the sole purpose of shitting directly on him. It was getting pretty personal.

It wasn't long before I won my first stack. So the following hand came up...I don't have the HH, but I think this is right. I have JJ in the small blind. gawdawful makes it 4 on the button, and I make it 24. He calls. On a queen-high flop, I check, and he shoves for an overbet. Obviously I snapcall and it's an easy ship.

I won another stack later, but can't remember exactly how. When talking to him on msn today, I commented that I can't believe he feel for my tricks when I told him exactly what I was up to. He said that it wasn't even my play, just so much as my existence, that tilted him. And now the funny part:

Corwin says:
i can't believe you fell for my tilt induction traps
Corwin says:
when i told you beforehand
Corwin says:
that i would be doing it
gawdawful says:
man you just need to sit down
gawdawful says:
fuck traps
Corwin says:
hhahaha
gawdawful says:
just be like, sup Kevin
gawdawful says:
its corwin
gawdawful says:
get ready to tilt
gawdawful says:
and gg me
gawdawful says:
faster to just transfer
Corwin says:
hahahahahahahahahaha
gawdawful says:
less embarrassing too
gawdawful says:
be like
gawdawful says:
thats just protection money
Corwin says:

End of may, hell yeah :D
  TianYuan, May 31 2007

Feeling somewhat inspired after seeing GGPlz's blog where he said he regretted the lack of hands played this month (70k) I decided to work on bettering my own numbers

+300$~ for the day, 4k hands I think : )

I'm gonna stay NL50 until I have 30+ buyins for NL100 I think, somehow 25 buyins (which I'm very close to) doesn't feel enough.

Very lazy may on account of UB being slow with withdrawals and SC2 being announced.

Summer so far
  [vital]Myth, May 29 2007

Poker:
Poker has been going really well. At this point, I feel I've solidified my game to the point that I should almost never have serious bad runs where I make poor decisions in many large pots. The money is flowing well, and I'm running fairly neutral. I'm up about $1,200 in live-play after 4 days, and about $3,400 in online play after 7. I have been working on a ton of stuff, and both fullring and short-handed games feel great. I'm also improving at PLO, and I'm learning so much just constantly conversing with Daut.

My new group of full-time students for the latter half of the summer are also exciting. I think they are some good players with a lot of potential, and I hope to mold them into great players who will tear through midstakes in no time. My students who are just wrapping up their full-time coaching deals are mostly doing well. One has increased his bankroll more than 5x and has moved up 3 stakes in the past 6 weeks. I'm proud of all my students and I hope they continue to improve and crush their games.

Friends:
Daut is definitely one of the most solid friends I've ever made. He's a great, patient, generous, level-headed, easy-going person with a good sense of humor and a great outlook on life. He's a lot of fun to be around, and obviously a huge asset for me in improving my poker game.

Mig is a nit. But he thinks everyone sucks at poker, which is cool. Although he has no respect for any other poker player, he never talks about himself or brags about how good he is. He's not arrogant or cocky, he's just ruthlessly unforgiving of others' mistakes at the poker table. All joking aside though, Mig is also a lot of fun to hang out with, but not so helpful for my poker game .

I spent several hours talking to and playing $1/3 NL with RaSZi yesterday. He's been playing $10/20 at the Wynn, and killing it. But he was bored and his game was bad, so he came down to my micro-stakes table to donk it up and get drunk. He tilted the table really badly, drastically increasing its +EV for me. Big thanks to RaSZi for getting those geeks to ship me so much money. He's a hilarious and very fun individual, and he likes to talk poker. I am hoping to get to spend a lot more time with him while he's here. He's a really good live player and I think he will crush very high stakes live for a long, long time if he wants to do so.

I also met up with LURPED a few times at the Wynn, and I think he's been playing $5/10 and $10/20. It's been a long time since I last talked to him, but he's a poker player through and through. He just has this air of "grinder" about him. I haven't gotten much chance to talk to him seriously, but he is about to buy a house near here. Congrats to him on that, and I hope his land value skyrockets .

Stories:

Here are a few cool hands I have played so far:

1. I am like $800 deep at a $1/3 NL game at the Wynn, and my opponent has about $500. I have 55 in middle position, and I limp after 2 other limpers. The button makes it $21 to go, folds back to me, and I call. Flop is Q56, and I check/raise a $60 overbet to $180. He calls. The turn is a 6, and he has about $300 left. This player is an old guy who has been trying to abuse me in position a lot, so I just bet $120 and leave him room to shove, instead of putting him in, knowing that he'll think he has more leverage to show strength with a weak hand if I just bet small now. So he does shove, instantly, and I of course snapcall. The river is a K and he shows TT. LOL, ship it.

2. RaSZi was sitting directly to my right, and was ultra deep-stacked with like $2,400, and I had about $1,000. He had been playing something like 50/45, but very serious and solid postflop. I hadn't been stomping on him much, because he has a lot more experience in aggressive deep-stacked games than I do and I know his superiority as a player means that I can't get too out of line -- I need a fairly tight image to make plays at him. Having this image, the following hand ensued. He raised over a limper to $15 in the hijack, and I made it $45 on the button. Folds to him, he calls. Flop is AA2 with 2 diamonds, and he checks. I bet $60 and he starts grumbling..."see, if I start bluffing on flops like this, I don't know if you can start floating me to re-bluff," and folds. I show Qc5c. He says he hates me. I mumble that I'm not sure whether I need to bet $60 to get a fold there, and he says..."oh believe me, you do. Otherwise I will absolutely stomp on you. Trust me, if you bet weak, I'll be the first one all-in and you'll be doing some math."

3. Villain is about $650 deep, and I cover by a mile ($1/3). He is sitting a few seats to my right, but the people between us have been sitting out a lot. I have been absolutely shitting on him non-stop since he got there. His friend is sitting directly to my left, and both of them are wannabe-TAG kids who think that they're good image players. They make a lot of mistakes, but I don't doubt that they're winning players in this game.

In one important hand we played earlier, I had ATo and raised over his limp. He called. The flop was K67 with two spades, and he check/called about 2/3 pot. It was pretty clear he was drawing in this hand, because there is just no other type of hand he could have that wouldn't protect itself on this flop. The turn was a blank, like the 2h, and he check/called another 2/3 pot bet. The river was some dirty card like the 9s, and we checked down. He showed 54dd for a busted stupid straight draw, and I showed ATo and won the pot. He grumbled, "ace high?! Psssh...I could have gotten you off that SO ez."

Now for the hand in question. The villain has been limping a bit too much, and I've raised in position the last 5 times he has limped. So he limps this hand, and I make it $15 with A7o. He calls and we're heads-up. Flop is 272 with two spades, and I have the As. He checks, I bet $24, he makes it $66. I call. Turn is the Qd, and he bets $160. I go into the tank for a bit and finally shove for about $400 more. He gets a disgusted look on his face and starts counting his money. He thinks and thinks and says to himself, "ugh, I think this is a call...how can this be a call?" Finally, he folds, disgusted.

He left not long after, and had been gone for a while. His friend came back to the table and at some point asked me, "hey, what did you have on that hand where my buddy made that big turn bet? Sevens full, right?" I replied that I of course didn't have sevens full (and by the way, I would have butchered it if I had that hand). I said I had A7o, and he was stunned. "So you WERE making a play at him then? He had king jack of spades." I explained my play of the hand this way: his friend had shown down a few strong hands before, and every time he had been very still, with very little signs of emotion in his body language, and his eyes were generally looking at his opponent's chips and hands. He took standard aggressive lines, so his betting was irrelevant. But his body language was key.

On the flop in the hand above, he was a bit fidgety and his eyes were fixated on the board more often than not. He was sort of rotating back and forth in his chair a lot. I knew on the flop that he was either semi-bluffing or playing some kind of hand he was unsure of, like a small overpair. I felt that 55-66 might fire again on the turn, but probably weak, 88-99 would probably play about the same way but maybe a little stronger, and TT was very unlikely anyway because I'm almost 100% certain he raises that preflop. But a ton of hands with two spades make a lot of sense, like JTss, 98ss, etc., while the middle pairs are possible but unlikely. So I am not looking to jam on the flop, because I can't possibly induce a mistake on the flop, unless he folds a combo draw (which I doubt) or he folds an overpair (which is a slim possibility). So I have to call because I am ahead of his range anyway, I have a nut redraw with the As, and I can get more value when I'm good, or induce more folds from better pairs when I'm not good.

When the turn was the Qd, he looked at it very quickly and instantly reached for his chips. It was the most cursory of glances. I knew immediately that he couldn't have possibly re-evaluated his hand or his play when the Qd came out. Therefore, it was a meaningless card for him. Thus he can't have the Qs. I know that he didn't think that far ahead on the flop, because he isn't that smart. If he had the Qs, he would hesitate for a second on the Qd turn. He just reached for chips. After his bet, his body language screamed that he wanted me to fold and just get the hand over with. So after he bet $160, I knew I had the best hand, but I had no idea which cards on the river would be bad for me, except spades obviously. Because of that, I couldn't let him have the betting lead with so much money behind on so many possible rivers that killed my hand. I'm not sure that calling down isn't the best play, but I shoved and that's why.

It took a lot fewer words to say to his friend, but I really stomped on that geek pretty hard. Owned.

More updates later!

May 27 - EV software
  Sheitan, May 27 2007

1834 hands 8 tabling, ran hot and almost never slowplay hands, less benefits, all gone in 2 hands: 1 where im favorite 80% for more than 1 BIs and the other one where my flush hits on turn and run into deep stack donkey's flopped boat. Standard, managed to only lose 0.5 bis...

I tried that ev soft to see if im really unlucky or if i just play bad here's the graph:

Interesting hand: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/201291

History on villain is he's a total donk minraising shit oop but manage to suck his way out all the freaking time, so when my flush hits im pretty sure he's holding trips, didn't give the low stake credit for anything so i shove and lose. Any toughts ? or is it ok to go broke here ?

"taking the elevator"
Ibsu Bai Hui, May 27 2007

Cosmo posted a nifty program (pre-release) that calculates your EV vs your actual winnings. It doesn´t seem to work properly for me, though.

For example, says my total winnings on NL are $110 and my expected were -$488, compared to my actual winnings on Pokertracker of $300.

I´d be the first person to admit I was running well, but it´s circumstancial luck rather than plain suckouts. Ie my opponents suck and I´ve been dealt a lot of face cards.

Anyway, I am satisfactorily rolled for 50NL, and have $175 to fall back on before I hit the standard 25 buyin rule.

My sister´s birthday today so I decided that while everyone´s distracted this is a perfect oppertunity to get drunk and watch Starship Troopers and the finalé of Heroes.

I gave her Jeremy Clarkson´s biography and spent a rather elongated time helping her choose what clothes to go out in. No it wasn´t an excuse to be in the room while she gets undressed; I just really like womens´ clothing.

Anyway here is a PT screenshot. I will commence at 50NL/PL tomorrow!

PS: Some of my previous entries are updated. You can view them at http://ibsu.liquidpoker.net

Downswing on a EV Graph
  JonnyCosMo, May 27 2007

Today I put my bad run between April and May onto the PokerEV Software just to see how bad I was running... and oh boy... it was bad. For those of you who dont believe that I got unlucky, just check this out:

Almost this entire graph takes place at NL200 on PokerStars.

Translation of the graph goes as follows, the red line is what I should be making at showdown (true Sklansky bucks). The blue line is what I actually won at showdown. So you compare the difference between the red line and the blue line. The aqua line is my Equity Adjusted to total winnings, which basically is an estimate to what I should be winning adding in all the pots I won w/o showdown as well. At the bottom is my Total Winnings over that time period. Suicide eh?

There is over $4k difference between what I should have won and what I actually won. That's pretty freakin sick... Been running better recently, which has been good. Compared to my past month I feel like I'm running like god again. Let's hope this keeps up!

+150$ sign up bonus just cleared, so my bankroll is at an all time high of 1700 something which I'm really happy about!

Running at 6~bb/100, dunno if it can be called running hot (I dunno what's standard really) but I'm most certainly not running bad at least

May 26 - sick of aces and kings
  Sheitan, May 26 2007

Put up a nice sessions, went up 7 Bis and finished -1 Bi getting fucked over and over and over by pocket kings and aces. This is so sick. 3,148 hands 8 tabling, was running hot for hours then got pocket aces and kings and manages to lose 8 mother fucking bis to set, suck outs and coolers from outter space. W.T.F ?

This is so sick ... i think im gonna go all-in PF all the mother fucking time with these, seriously this is so fucking sick. Got like 2-3 pocket aces at end of my session, cracked. Got Kings, they got cracked also. What in the world ? tell me about variance, these mother fucking hands fucked my long session in a matter of minutes, im so fucking pissed god damn mother fucking lskdnfjksdnfjksndfksjnfkjasnf;ansdkfsajlkfnsdfljknsadfnlsaldkjfnljasdfn.

Au revoir, NL25
  TianYuan, May 25 2007

Which puts me at a comfortable 1270$, for playing NL50 (also my 150$ deposit bonus clears really soon and I'll have another 20$ coming in tomorrow).

I played a liiiiiittle bit too loose today, but it might not be all bad as I finally found myself catching a lot of bluffs where I previously folded so while I definitely overdid the looseness in some cases (like in one hand I posted.. oops) I think it might have been positive as well.

Anyway, swingy as fuck session as I was playing somewhat high variance + making a few stupid plays + running like god for periods of time.

So yeah, 2nd time I'll give NL50 a shot, last time was back in february and ended badly (cause I got impatient and moved up with 20 buyins and got destroyed by variance + tilt + being worse than I thought I was).

At least this time I'll have a little bigger cushion against variance, be slightly better, and hopefully I'm not worse than I think I am.

The reason for the relatively few hands is that I've been busy obsessing about the SC2 announcement!

Back On The Up and Up!
  JonnyCosMo, May 25 2007

So I woke up this morning and told myself that I'm going to just 2 table and see if I can play the best poker I can play for 1 day. Now before I started, keep in mind I haven't 2 tabled in like... so I've never 2 tabled ever. Anyways, the day started with me stacking a donkey with my bottom set, and then making a super thin value shove vs redgrape that got him to tank for a good 45 seconds before he folded (so close yo~!). I played for like 4 hours today which is how long I normally play, and it was one of the most stress free days of poker I've ever had. It was just really refreshing to concentrate on only 2 tables. As for my results today, I finally jump-started the money making machine again -->

Only got in 1215 hands today, but my winrate over that time was pretty sweet and finally a $1.5k day. I think I'm going to go back to NL400 tomorrow and just 2 table to start off my day again. Let's hope this is the start to great things!!!

B-Boy BC One
  JonnyCosMo, May 25 2007

For those that dont know, I'm a big fan of hip hop in all forms. From the music to the dancing, I just love all of it. So every year Red Bull teams up with the best B-Boys in the world and they hold the Red Bull BC One B-Boy Championships, which just is the sickest display of dancing period. For those that dont know what kind of dancing I'm talking about check some of these videos out from my favorite matches:

Moy vs Hong 10 - Hong 10 completely pwns this American

Lilou vs Ronnie - Lilou is like x100 better than Ronnie. Watch Lilou from 2:55 to 3:10 in this vid. OMG?

Omar vs Lilou - The defending 2004 champion vs the 2005 champion. The end squence of moves is amazing.

Lilou vs Hong 10 - This is the final round so I only put the short summary video here since the original battle is like 9 mins long.

If these dances look interesting to you, you should definitly get the DVD since it's packed with sick b-boy battles like this plus some extras including Razhel's beat boxing.
