Greatest sport in the world
  sooon2b, Mar 03 2009

futbal, soccer, football, etc. This video pretty much sums it up. Quite moving imo, or maybe I am just an emo bitch.

In other news, I am writing an informative speech on Gaelic Football for a required communications elective. I originally planned on writing about poker, then quickly realized I was completely out of my mind for thinking that in the first place. For those of you who don't know what Gaelic Football is, here are some videos (I am currently in the works of trying to set up our teams website.

First off, how to play the game. Here are 3 videos that explain how the game is played:

Some issues with the above videos
Gaelic football is all about what you can get away with. The only level of the sport where physical contact is the least are at the very highest levels of play due to skills. I play for a Junior A team here in the US and the games are far more aggressive/physical. As long as it looks like you are going for the ball, your chances of getting called are slim, within reason of course. All in all its a great sport. Here's some cool videos to peep

This is Ireland vs Australia - Australia's AFL is quite similar to Ireland's Gaelic football as it was based off the GAA. Fwiw, the games are generally not this aggressive. However we have had quite a few games similar to this on account of our team completely dominating the Junior B level(resulting in quite a few national championships), and since moving up to Junior A, we have held our own pretty well. We actually had a game called off once vs our Pittsburgh, PA rival due to repeated bench clearing brawls and the injuries that occurred on account of them. Anyways, enjoy

Gotta rep County Maigh Eo (aka Mayo)- Mayo v. Dublin

Mayo v. Kerry - We lost but it was a good game nonetheless

Ok, enough of that, I am off to the store to pick up some healthy foods. Going to quit smoking within a week thanks to a free program offered by the school. The cool thing about it is that nearly my entire fraternity is going to being trying to kick the habit. We are also taking part in some fitness programs together. Weight loss programs for those horizontally challenged brothers, and getting in better shape and stronger for those who are not chubby [like myself]. It will be great having all of this support as it should keep us all fairly motivated. I cant wait until I start eating better, and feeling stronger and healthier. I am undecided as to whether or not I will take the Cleveland Fire Department Test coming up this summer. I definitely need to work on these things if I want to stand a chance on the physical portion of the test.

That's all for now, peace out girl scouts, keep on l.t.d.

P.S. If you haven't peeped my last blog, at least check out my broseph JoeyPs video I posted, or his music on this website. Dudes legit

the nizzles ldo
  sooon2b, Mar 02 2009

This post is probably going to be somewhat long thanks to a lot of adderol, valium, and pot. Ill show my progress this year so far and discuss the results so far. Ill also talk about my goals for March. Ill probably talk about some school and fraternity stuff. Lastly ill post some youtube vids of my latest favorite jams, as well as a shout out to my compadre joeyp.

This year has been pretty good as far as poker is concerned, or at least my results have been good. The only bad thing about the year so far is my lack of grinding. Overall I feel I was running pretty well, but also played pretty well. I have been on a 10 buyin downer the last 6k hands, but I am not too worried. If I drop ~5 buyins more, I will most likely grind 50NL for awhile to maintain sanity. I will likely move up once I make 5k more, and cash out 1k of that to my savings acct. Here are screenshots of Jan+Feb:

Lately I have been trying to talk poker more with people I know from 100/200 nl to help me plug any leaks I may have (pm me if you dont have my AIM and want to talk shop). I am also going to try to create a video (or a few for that matter) to have people critique. I may start looking into coaching, for a few sessions at least (if you know anyone good/cheap, pm me). I also am considering signing up for bluefirepoker since jman is like my hero. As far as cardrunners and leggopoker go, who are you guys' favorite 100-400NL pros?

School has been going ok so far. I am definitely not trying as hard as I should be, but I should at least nail a 3.0 this semester. My Psychology internship has been pretty fun so far. Its really cool working with professors and grad students away from the classroom. I have to give an IQ test in compilation with the experiment, and being curious of my own intelligence, I had a grad student give me the test. To my surprise, I scored a 131, which I guess is pretty awesome? I guess I havent killed that many braincells yet

The fraternity has been pretty bleh lately. Next year is our chapters 60th anniversary, so we are really trying to be the best we can over the next year in hopes of recieving some financial gifts from out alumni. Once this semester ends, I will be stepping down from Director of Academic Affairs, and will be taking over as Treasurer. I was Treasurer my first year here and it royally sucked. Despite my distaste for the position, I am going to be running for President 2010/2011 and need to learn all the financial changes that have occurred since I was last Treasurer. This should make the transition fairly easy as I already know and understand most aspects of the fraternity. 2010/2011 will be my last year as an undergrad, and I am actually going to stretch my last 18-21 credits across 2 semesters. I want to make sure we continue the progress we've made over the past semester.

There was one major incident in the fraternity when our deaf member (he has a cochlear implant so dont feel too bad yet) sent a text to national headquarters instead of his friend whos name was next in his contacts. What did this text contain you may ask? It stated "Yo, u kno where I can get keg, need good deal!", followed by "Oops wrong person LOL!" once he realized his mistake. No one has any idea why he was even looking for a keg in the first place. After the incident, chaos insued after national's response. Rumors and speculations pertaining to the future of our chapter. It was definitely a pain in the ass worrying about a Phonarch coming through and possibly crippling the chapter via expulsions and social punishments, but in the end everything was fine and no punishments were given.

Other than everything I have stated above, I have simply been living the dream, enjoying an arsenal of friends, women, music, booze, and drugs. Speaking of music, I wanted to talk about some of my latest favorites. Most of the songs arent new, so save the "thats so 1999" comments.

First ill start with who is definitely my favorite lyricist of all time. I chose not to say "rapper" due to the fact that his words and message are brilliantly put together. He does not rap about your typical hood bullshit, which I really admire. He goes by the name of, Lupe Fiasco. My favorite songs as of late are the following:

Dumb it Down - This is a great example of how he differs from the rest of the rap industry

Daydreamin' - Oldie but goodie

American Terrorist - severely underrated song

Put You On Game - Lupe's darkest song imo

Lil' Wyte - Doubt Me Now - As far as straight rap goes, I have really been loving this song lately. Its one of those songs that makes you feel like a b.a.m.f.

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine - One of my all time favorite songs, its so sick I cant even describe it.

AFI - Death of Seasons Big change of pace lol, I really like AFI a ton, and this song is one of my favorites by them.

Lastly, I wanna give a shoutout to my homie JoeyP. Hes an awesome dude, and a genius when it comes to music. He rocked out last night for a bunch of us at a party and everyone was mesmerized. Here is his website, as well as a live performance of his song "Hydrogen." Biggie ups compadre

Until next time, keep on keepin' on

P.S. I am currently looking for a new laptop for poker. Screen reso must be 1920/1200, and it must have a 7200 or 10k rpm HD(dont think anyone makes 10k's for laptops tbh.) Other than that, it does not really matter to me. Obviously the cheaper the better. Please ship some suggestions, thanks

new gun and other news
  sooon2b, Feb 02 2009

So I decided to splurge on a new gun because I was stoned and it seemed like a brilliant idea. Upon entering Gander Mtn's used gun section I see a gorgeous over-under 12 gauge. I obviously had to have it, and that I did. Unfortunately, 50 shells later, my shoulder fucking kills. Anyways, its a fucking sweet gun, I am excited about it, etc. Heres pic

In other news, I am now off my cash stake. I managed to basically double my backers investment which is ok I suppose. I sort of wish I could have made him more for being such a great backer and great guy, but realistically I need to be playing on my own money asap, and now was the time. Ive got enough to play 100NL somewhat comfortably so ill be grinding there for a bit then back to 200NL where my results were surprisingly decent. I am hoping to put in ~25k hands in this month and be at 200NL by next month.

School has been quite hectic lately(hence only 25k hands). I am applying for Director of Academic Affairs for Undergrad Student Government(i currently hold that position in my fraternity as well). I also got into an undergraduate research program on campus working with the head of the psychology department on PTSD this semester. Along with my 5 other classes(4 of which are upper level courses), I barely have any time. Oh, not to mention our pledge's "initiation" week starts tonight. I hate being so damn busy. Gl at the tables, peaaaaaaace

  sooon2b, Jan 23 2009

Meh, this isnt that exciting of a toy to you guys but im pretty stoked. Ive been looking to get a smaller laptop solely for school/business(and obviously web browsing/aim/skype.) I started looking into smaller 14" notebooks and came across these new "Netbooks." School, Poker, Life
  sooon2b, Jan 21 2009

I apologize for the time you guys might waste reading my blog, but I am bored, high, and on adderol so enjoy lol.

School just started for me today and I was actually pretty excited for winter break to end. A college town without college students is pretty lame fyi. Anyways, this semester I really loaded up on courses for my Major/Minor(Psychology/Philosophy). I am taking Child Psych, Research Methods in Psych, Cognitive Psych, Philosophy Principles of Thought, and some Communications liberal arts requirement. Best of all, I will be working under the head of the Psychology Dept., who happens to specialize in Cognitive and Developmental Psych. I got accepted into the Undergrad Research program and I am ecstatic I get to work under her. School should be fun this semester, I am definitely excited.

Poker has been going pretty well the past few months despite the lack of time put in. I took my first shot at 200NL and it didnt go so well so I am back to 100NL til I grind out like 10 buyins. I have been murdering the 50 and 100NL games lately, hopefully I can actually run decent next time I take a shot.

As far as life in general goes, its been pretty uneventful. I went on a cocaine binge from the 27th of December until the 12th? of January. It was fun while it lasted but not something anyone should really mess with. Other than that, nothing new has come up recently, still smoking hella weed and slaying mass sluts, living the dream basically. Anyways thats all for now, deuces
Pat
