2 month update
OpWestAcct, Mar 12 2010
So I am updating this once before May 11th just to show some progress I made half way through. I was going to quit poker and started Feb with a $150 roll or something like that and had a magical month where I made $2300. Unfortunately, winning never ever lasts long for me since poker hates me. I have lost every single session I have played in March. And my car fucked up so I had to cash out $750 of my roll which now leaves me with $400. Anyways off to the real life goals....
[X] Get a job as a waiter
[X] Get back into going to church every Sunday
[/] Find car insurance and replace brakes/struts
[ ] Research grants/loans/financial aid for school in fall
[ ] Figure out where I would like to go to school
[ ] Get back into working out 3x a week and be able to bench 280
[/] Bible reading 3x a week and back to praying every night
[ ] No more smoking weed
[X] Drinking is fine as long as does not interfere with any goals
[/] Save up $1500
[ ] Stop smoking cigarettes
So of my 11 goals I accomplished 3 of them and am half way on 3 more. Focusing on the school aspect will come very soon so that is no worries. However, stopping cigarettes and weed was much more difficult than I expected. Oh well wish me luck that things keep on going up for me (atleast in life, fuck poker).
Lol Srs?

Haha I finally got to post some good results of Feb. And lol at all the "doomswitches" due after blogging. Well coincidentally, I kicked off March on a 18 buy in downswing at NL 50. At least I have a job now and don't have to stress about my bankroll getting low (along with the downswing I had to cash out $750 to fix my car). Damn and I wasn't even planning on playing today but I had an hour before I had to leave to go to work and dropped 5 buy ins in 30 mins.

Rush

The excitement is gone...
I WUV RUSH
OpWestAcct, Jan 20 2010
Rush is by far the best thing to ever happen for poker with me. It fits me absolutely perfectly. Since table images are almost impossible to develop I can 3 bet 15-20% of my hands and since play is often deep with the regs I can bluff raise so much and steal so many pots. I never would have thought I would have 4 bet bluffed air so many times till this came out. Love it. I get to play aggressive as fuck and very rarely every get looked up light considering most NL 25 regs have no balls.
Edit: Incredible how easy everyone gives up their blinds. Everyone is just auto folding nitting it up I guess? And since the play is so fast paced I don't think people realize the timing tells they give off making it super easy to hand read.
Rush Poker
OpWestAcct, Jan 19 2010
I really enjoyed it. Played for about 10 minutes but almost immediately I realized something. Since there are new players every hand couldn't someone just 3 bet every hand they play and take down at least 8/10 making a profit?
Intro
OpWestAcct, Jan 13 2010
I look back. So many thoughts cloud my mind and I have yet to realize when it all began. "It" being the despair that, in this very moment, with so many staggering memories racing through my head, bars me from fluently typing exactly how and what I feel. When I dwell on the past, as I often do, I wonder: how did I become the person I am today? I search for happiness. I search for hope. I search for faith in knowing that one day I can become the man I know I am capable of becoming. Three days ago I decided that I no longer want to be the person I see when I look in the mirror.
Kind of an emo rant that I decided I wanted to turn into a short story as I have always enjoyed writing. Sound interesting at all?
Disregard
OpWestAcct, Jan 10 2010
This blog is only for me as I decided to make some goals in my life that I can reach and that I think can help straighten me out again. Short story - this stems from the fact that in the past 4 weeks I had one magical winning session of 19 buy ins. Ever single other session was a losing one. So if you do not include the 19 buy in session I am on a 65 buy in downswing. So I am quitting poker and figuring out my life.
[ ] Get a job as a waiter
[ ] Get back into going to church every Sunday
[ ] Find car insurance and replace brakes/struts
[ ] Research grants/loans/financial aid for school in fall
[ ] Figure out where I would like to go to school
[ ] Get back into working out 3x a week and be able to bench 280
[ ] Bible reading 3x a week and back to praying every night
[ ] No more smoking weed
[ ] Drinking is fine as long as does not interfere with any goals
[ ] Save up $1500
[ ] Stop smoking cigarettes
I am giving myself 4 months to do this. The timeline comes from the fact that if I average $300-$350 a week as a waiter then it should take about 4 months to save up $1500 while paying $800 a month for expenses. Wish me luck LP as my 18 month poker career is over in 8 days. I just can't take the constant run bad anymore. Eventually I will get back into grinding live but unless I have another magical 19 buy in session to save me again I am done online.
I start my goals tomorrow 1-11-10 and will update this blog on 5-11-10 hopefully I can accomplish everything.
One winning session in the past 30k hands
