hard times
  rockman255, Aug 10 2008

i was browsing through some older posts and found a drunken FrinkX post something along the lines of value your decisions, not your outcomes..

im in the middle of somewhat of a painful downswing and for a while i think i was letting it get to me and letting it have a noticable effect on my play

rather than get down on myself im trying to find inner solace in the fact that the vast majority of decisions i made on this swing have been good

idk, now im just sounding like a prissy bitch but i think theres something to this; its like you have to have a solid inner core where you really believe you are doing the right thing and dont let the whirlwind of bullshit affect you

so now its time to buckle down and stop playing weaktight and get back on my way.. hopefully ill post 3k soon

2k o_oa
  rockman255, Aug 02 2008

so i got on this sick heater that has me 24.3PTbb/100 over my last 1400 hands and

87ptbb/100 over my last 280 hands

i got deeper stacked than id been in a while, something like 725bb's deep. heres a picture :O

this is the sickest hand from my little heater - AA v KK v QQ, for whatever reason they both cold call my preflop 3bet with my aces, and the flop comes rag rag rag 3 diamonds and we all had a diamond. SICK?

although id like to think if i were the guy with the queens i would have gotten out of there somehow, or maybe preflop

+ Show Spoiler +

one of the main adjustments im finding in nl50 is that theres not enough weak loose players to satisfy my needs so im having to prey on the weak tights a little bit more; this is really what ive found to be the main difference between nl25 and nl50. so i act accordingly, mainly just proceeding with caution with all the nut peddlers and people that still dont know how to bet.

one of the things that definitely keeps it profitable is that a lot of the players at this level still dont know how to size their preflop 3bets and still have extremely tight ranges so i can cold call their 3bet and break them with pairs for extra profit.

cheers guys, gl on the tables

adversity stomped..for now
  rockman255, Jul 25 2008

well, on monday i had a debaucle by getting my money frozen on epassporte and i felt soooo like shit, and i was so tilted that i took a small shot at nl50.. worst possible thing to do, right?

anyway, in my brief shot, i basically ended up in two big pots that i trapped myself in, one i was 56-44 and one i was 39-61 to win, lost both, and then went back to nl25 where i was still struggling.. i think my bankroll took like a 200 hit that day

tuesday i got free tickets to see Toronto FC (soccer) from my fpps which was badass and i totally relaxed and didnt stress about poker

with a real risk of being underrolled for nl25(i made an arguably unnecessary withdrawl of $500 to cover my idiot taxes with the epassporte bs) i fought back and here i am

i know times can and will get a lot worse than this but im happy that i was able to claw back

props to kimseongchan's blog with rocky and shit. holla :D

NIGHTMARE//epassporte for stars money anyone
  rockman255, Jul 21 2008

nightmare, right?

so i was all pumped up about pokerstars 2x bonus transaction and without thinking i deposited $500 into my Epassporte account only to log on to Pokerstars to see that they no longer accept Epassporte.

no problem, right? I only lost fucking $30 on $500 max deposit=$470, should be no problem to refund to my visa card. Wrong. Now I have $470 frozen in the internet abyss which can only be removed via US Chequing, Bank Wire transfer of $1k or more which isnt even guaranteed to be accepted, or using a VISA Electron card.

I'm a god damn Canadian so the Electron card is the only option..

$35 dollars later, down to $435 I have now ordered a VISA Electron card. Production time=unknown. It will be mailed within a couple weeks and arrive in 4 to 6 weeks.

So i have to pay fucking visa bills on $500 lost? Fuck this!

In a state of emergency, I've withdrawn $500 from my Pokerstars account so I dont have to pay ridiculous VISA tax.

..... thus, in total i've lost $30 on the gay epassporte service charges, $35 on the card that will never arrive soon enough, and i wont be receiving any deposit bonus which was to be $195.

net result, -$260. moral of the story? think before i act? check which faggoty old websites have been discontinued from deposit options.

on a serious note, ill wire anyone the entire $430 or whatevers left in my epassporte account for like $400 on stars if they can do that =[

$1k first time:)//update overall
  rockman255, Jul 19 2008

heres a quote from trainspotting, my favorite movie :D

We settled on sixteen thousand pounds. He had a lot more in the suitcase, but it was better than nothing. And just for a moment it felt really great, like we were all in it together, like friends, like it meant something. A moment like that, it can touch you deep inside, but it doesn't last long, not like sixteen thousand pounds.

anyway, i returned from my accident on june 1 on monday july 7 with something like $350 so i feel like ive done great so far but perhaps it has been a good run of cards as well.

extremely notable is that i was doing shitty shitty shitty in nl25 for 18k hands of 12-15tabling and then i switched abruptly to 4 tables, pointed out on my graph, and it was probably a bit of luck and a bit of higher concentration that got me to where i wanted to be

at one point today i more or less snapfolded AA correctly which felt great, i think it was a way easier fold because there was a donkey lowstack in the pot so i knew i would see the cards either way

hopefully this is a testament to my efforts to improve my play rather than simply massively multitable grind.

nl25 good or lucky
  rockman255, Jul 17 2008

well, so i totally tanked as usual and made spewy plays at the start of today, and then at the very bottom of the graph there is when i took a bit of a breather and when i came back i only played 4 tables down from my usual 9-12, inspired by fee's thing =O

and it was probably just dumb luck that i am catching cards and has nothing to do with trying to 4 table and analyse opponents and all that yada yada,

but... i do feel like i made a few good bets to define my hand strength where i said to myself "if this guy comes over the bet im done with the hand" and i was taking down pots where i felt my opponents had pfr'ed and missed with overs (usually followed by a c/f) that i would have definitely checked down had i been playing more tables and thinking less

anyway, heres the graph, more on this later.. i guess i'll find out pretty quickly if its just a heater im on

on a side note, i did just lay down kings after UTG pop 0.75, 1 limper inbetween, i 3bet to 4.50 on button, UTG 4bet 37.25allin i fold :O it was maybe bad. but i feel okay

(this graph is Pokerstars NL25 FR)

suffering in nl25
  rockman255, Jul 16 2008

so im admittedly playing really bad. like, i make the occassional tilty move, and i fold at the wrong time, and then i be at the wrong time.

i dont know what to do, ive played 20k hands and im going nowhere, i swear to god i get hit by coolers very often thus far in nl25 though.

i flipped and won a 200bb pot, and then this happened, and now im even

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486176

i guess its punishment for flipping or something.. i have no fold equity against nl25 clowns with tpgk

this is my lifetime(after my injury) nl25

update..
  rockman255, Jul 15 2008

today is like, every time i get close to even i get hit by another tough, possibly sick situation..

i mean, if i think about it logically i know i can bank at these limits because of the terrible calls that are made against me..

i felt during parts of the day that i was playing badly and took breaks for an hour here and there but i honestly dont think im particularly tilty, its just every time i sit back down i get another one of those tough hands..

this happened alot today, stuff like this, but it makes me know i can beat the limit.. i cant really bet too hard here idk..

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/485072

and then stuff like this happened too where the guy plays aa for set value against me basically? idk again

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/485033

finally, this is the most recent hand where i ran into a set. i think i could have folded it. but im starting to really doubt some of these. i hit trip queens with AQ on the turn and i think there was too much chance he just has a kq or qj or q rag.

rough day...
  rockman255, Jul 14 2008

well, today i am only net down 2BI i guess, its been really swingy flopping a couple flush over flush and losing, kk v aa, aa/kk over sets..

i feel like every cbet i make is contested and im getting 3bet a ridiculous amount..

its got to be mostly in my head though.. but i keep thinking people are bluffing me

*shrug* can anyone enlighten me and say they've felt the same and it was just the cards fault? i want to hear that
:O

oh (edit) add to this that i feel that my good hands aren't being paid at ALL.

so yeah. please someone say something!
