Challenging Myself
  RICHI8, Dec 19 2008

Awful session just now. -$140 after 1k hands. I need to challenge myself. Challenge myself to not get angry. Challenge myself to have self control. Challenge myself to be more mature. Challenge myself to play smart and not go "head hunting" when people suck out on me. Challenge myself to study more. Challenge myself to stick to personal commitments.

I've been talking a lot of crap lately on tables. I've been rather unlucky my past couple sessions. This last session was terrible. I lost almost 6 buy ins. I can't really blame anyone other than myself. I'm too eager to get my money in, which has it's advantages when you're running good. I need to slow down hands and play more streets, that's the only way I know I'm better than these games.

Time to go to work. When I come home I'll session again. If I drop 2 more buy ins I have to go back down to 10NL.

I was right
  RICHI8, Dec 17 2008

The manner hammer was right around the corner. Lost 4 Buy-ins with my last 1000 hands. Ran suuuuuuuper bad. Oh well. I'm going to the movies now with some broad. Gonna go see Four Christmases. Hopefully she puts out. LOL WHAT DID HE JSUT SAY THAT?

EDIT: Came back from movie and played 1200 hands. Won 3.5 buy-ins back. Movie was pretty fun. No sex. Good night.

Took a Neilly shot
  RICHI8, Dec 17 2008

In my last post I mentioned how I went back to limit since I used to have success there. Well, I was running pretty bad there too and it since it was Limit and 6max the variance was ridiculous. So I took a couple days off and thought about things.

I realized one big flaw I've been having. I have (had) two seperate rolls. One on PS and FTP and every time I was running bad on one I went to the other. I realized this is pointless since I'm playing the micro stakes. I need to just stick to one site. I withdrew all my money from PS and have been playing solely on FTP. I think the 27% rakeback will be really important in building a roll at such low stakes. I know later on PS will be more profitable but I'm no where near Supernova stakes so FTP is fine for me for now.

Upon realizing I'll only be playing on FTP, I decided to go back to NL since their FL table selection is pretty weak and they have tons of NL tables. Another one of my problems I realized when I was playing NL10 is that the money meant nothing to me. I would just call just because "oh well it's just another $2 or $3." So with only 8 buy-ins I decided to take a "Neilly shot" (if you will) at NL25. I have enough money to re-deposit if I were to mess up and lose it. Not that NL25 is a whole lot more money to me than NL10, but I lay down hands a lot easier.

I've been running really great at NL25 for the last three days. I can't expect it to stay like this but my roll is around $500 so I'm technically rolled enough for that stake now. Here's my graph and stats for the last 3 days:

I would appreciate comments on my stats. I plan on loosening up a little more as I get more comfortable. I was playing extra tight since I was under-rolled. I know this win rate isn't sustainable and I know I have tons of leaks. Any recommendations as far as stats go will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if I post again ever thinking about going back to Limit please cockslap me. Thanks

PS: I'm not trying to make fun of you NeillyAA. Just wanted to add some humor

Meh
  RICHI8, Dec 14 2008

Haven't really updated in the last few days. Been busy with work and trying to play poker when I can. I logged 15k hands at NL10 and I'm still about break even. I don't know what it is. I want to say it's just a bad run. I used to beat NL10 and NL25 so easy.

I became discouraged with NL so I went back to FL. Been playing .25/.50 on both PS and FTP. I'm running like shit on both sites. Have about 3k hands of .25/.50 on each site. I think I'm going to stick to FTP for now since I get the rakeback just so I can get my roll up.

This is all just really discouraging. I feel like I'm playing good poker. But at the same time, is it really fair to say that if I can't beat micro limits after 15k hands of NL10? I look at other new players graphs and they are just up and up, mine is down, up, down to even, up, down. All over the place. There is no constant. Grrrr. All I can do is keep playing more and learning and reading 2p2. But I am going back to Limit. I really hope this is just variance and that it ends soon.

The Real Black Friday
  RICHI8, Dec 06 2008

For most people last Friday was Black Friday, but today was Black Friday for me. Since converting from FL to 6max NL I have put in 13k hands at 6max NL10. When I first started playing I shot up like 7bis in my first 2.5k hands, but from 5k hands until today I was in the red, as embarrassing as that is to admit.

For those of you that don't know what Black Friday really means, it means its a day that retailers use to discount merchandise heavily in order to get out of the red for the year and get into the black (profit). I know poker is only measured in red and green, but from an accounting stand point black is green to me and I'm just happy to finally be out of the fuckin' red!

I know most of you probably don't care about what I just said, so here's another funny picture:

God, that guy is so happy he caught that fish. If you look closely the name of that picture is kobebryant.jpg. There's a little story that goes along with why I named it that.

I'm always messing with this one girl I know and we were on AIM and I hadn't talked to her for like a week. I told her while I was away that I was going fishing with my grandpa and that he caught a huge fish. Of course she was interested in the picture and I linked her to that pic. Her initial reaction was "oh wow impressive..." followed by "WAIT ONE SECOND." Rofl.

But it doesn't stop there. She's a HUGE Los Angeles Lakers fan and I absolutely love fucking with her and giving her all kinds of shit for it since I am a Boston Celtics fan. Well, we were chatting one day and I came across this beauty of a picture and couldn't resist. I told her it was a new picture that Kobe did for an ad and sent the link only for her to be surprised by 80 year old cack once again.

Starting to come together
  RICHI8, Dec 05 2008

I had the last 2 days off from work and I played a little over 3k hands. I ran pretty much break even until the end of my session last night where I got raped by the hand of god. As far as actually playing though, I feel like I'm making better decisions and seeing things from different angles. I'm still technically a losing player at NL10 but I haven't really been running good.

One thing more than the actually game of poker skill in general that I think I'm getting better at is self control. I have implemented a stop loss rule of 3bi and have been sticking to it fine. I've only had to use it a couple times, both times when I took the break for a few hours and came back I was fortunate to win most of it back.

The other +EV thing about playing tons of poker is that I'm out drinking less. Another one of my personal goals is to get in better shape. I'm no where near fat but I live in California and my beach body is starting to lack. Basically my life lately has been consisting of work, sleep, and going to the gym. I still plan to go out on the weekends because I do enjoy having a social life.

Also on my day off I took my car out for a drive through the mountains here in San Diego. All in all a very enjoyable drive with crazy ass turns for some scary excitement.

I got a quick session in today in between work meetings. All was going well until the hand of god tried to rape me again. Look at this shit!

Seriously over 40 hands I got pizowned all in situations where I was way ahead. It happens though. Luckily one big hand held up and I was back in the green for the day. On a lighter note when I was uploading that to my photobucket I found this pic:

LOL god that never gets old.

December Goals
  RICHI8, Dec 03 2008

Well it's the 3rd day of the month so I should make some goals for this month. I've been really busy with work so I've only had one session so far which didn't end very well. But here are my December goals:

- Have a total of 30k hands at NL10 (I have about 8k right now)
- Have a win rate of 4bb/100
- Be rolled to play NL25

Wish me luck!

Hello World
  RICHI8, Dec 02 2008

Hello. Much like most of you on here I come from the world of Starcraft and Warcraft 3. I used to play poker about 2 years ago, mostly limit, but I took a break right before the whole first US "ban" on online gambling and never really bothered to get back into it, until about a month ago. I've been putting around in a mix of Fixed Limit and No Limit but as of the past week or so I've committed to playing NL only.

Over the past 2 years I've been working at my cushy job making over 60k a year so I never really felt the need to play poker. But lately it seems like a good way to get some side money and to be quite honest I enjoy playing. Right now I'm a losing player, which sucks, but I'll continue to study and learn more. I'm playing 10NL currently and while I have the "IRL" bankroll to probably deposit enough to play NL100 I feel if I can't beat NL10, why the hell play something with better players?

Anyway, I feel like a complete gay for making a blog, but all of my friends make 60k+ a year and don't want to hear about my woes of losing $30 in NL10 when the night before I spent over a grand on bottle service at a club. So hopefully you guys will lend me an ear to bitch and moan in.

Cheers.
