almost bustoooooo
jase, Feb 08 2008
I deposited $50 onto Pokerstars about 2 months ago, I worked it up to $100 through grinding $1 9 and 18mans, I was cashing consistently.
Since about two weeks ago I cannot win. My bankroll has been slashed to about $30, mainly as a result of losing consistently in SNGs, I just cannot win, it's rare that I even cash. This has made me feel as if I'm a horrible player and I was merely on a good run of cards in the winning month and and a half where I built up my bankroll. This has shattered all my confidence and I just can't win now...
I've read the Harringtons, can't afford PXF and I've been sharing hand histories with friends, I just don't know what to do.
Surely my BR can't be cut in half just because of variance? I don't feel as if I've altered my play since I started winning but maybe I'm doing something differently which I'm not aware of.
I only started using Pokertracker a few weeks ago so my HHs from the winning month and a half aren't obtainable.
Currently my BR is sitting at $20 (LOL) so I feel like I'm playing mega scared cos I don't wanna go busto, even though I keep telling myself that most people go bust a few times before they becoming a 'winning' player, it's all subconscious thing I guess.
Anyway, I have $80 IRL money to my name ATM and the bank isn't open til tomorrow and I have a fine to pay ( drinking in public on schoolies ) btw schoolies is like australians spring break at the end of high school! so if anyone can ship me $50 on pokerstars i'd be willing to do something in return to prove im trustworthy, share a wow account password or something, i have no idea.
basically i just think if theres more in my physical roll i'll play better because i won't be scared, or if maybe anyone wants to trade $20 PS for $20 FTP i could have a go on full tilt with a clear head!
obv as soon as i'm up to $100 or if it goes back down to $50 i'd send it straight back because i wouldn't want to lose any of your moneysssss. for aus starcraft players im a good friend of ftrunkz and i'm sure he'd vouch for me!
New day tomorrow

So I lost $50 yesterday (half my BR), because I ran so horribly, I'm fairly sure I played every hand well and got my chips in good each time.
Tomorrow I'm going to try and play some more solid SNGs and hopefully start building my BR back up with the $1 SNGs, maybe a few $5s.
If that doesn't work I'm going to save some money made (outside of poker) and sign up to cardrunners/pxf or something similar and deposit like $250 and just work on learning more as I play instead of being so concentrated on winning which sometimes results in me playing scared now.
Dunno if any of that made sense but wish me luck! :D
Running bad or playing bad?
jase, Feb 02 2008
So 5 days ago I hit $150 with my BR, I started with $50 and worked it up through $1 SNGs and have now started playing $5 sngs. I'd been fairly consistent for the first few weeks cashing more than half the time in the SNGs.
The last 4 days I cannot win. CANNOT WIN.
My BR is down to $57, I can't cash.
I can't win coinflips. I've actually been note taking, the last 18 coinflips I've entered either with a pair against two higher cards or two higher cards against a pair I haven't won.
I can't cash. Over half my bankroll is gone now so I'm on massive tilt, I locked myself out of Pstars for 24hrs because I don't wanna do something stupid like play $10 headsup or something like that.
It's seriously driving me insane, I'm so competitive so I feel like I'm playing bad and becoming angry at myself.
Any advice? :|
Pretty good day for me :)

So I've pretty much been breaking even for the last week with my BR hovering at $35 (I deposited $50 about 3 weeks ago for the first time), I decided to try something different because I'm so sick of the $1 SNGS.
I took out 2 out of 2 $5 18mans, so my roll went up a fair bit from that, I was pretty much beaming after those two and have a break, I played 3 $2 headsup SNGs and won two of them, I got pretty unlucky on the 2nd one, I had a chiplead and hit a king flush on the flop and pushed him all in, he was drawing to the ace high flush and got in on the river, not to worry though.
Just now I won(came top 6 for a tournament entry) to a $2.20 45man turbo satellite to the Weekly Hundred Grand, so I'll be waking up early Monday morning to play that, should be a bit of fun! Going into the final table I had a considerable chip lead, 3 hands in it was down to the 6 that get the ticket to the tournament and then it was all over, I was hoping to play it out because I really need to work on my turbo game and also need to improve playing bigstack when trying to place.
edit: Now I'm actually contemplating selling the ticket to the tournament, how much could I make for it? The entry itself is $11 so would I get $11 for it? I think with such a huge playing field I'd need to get very lucky to at least be in the money.
I've come to realise that a lot of the blogs on this site are really deep and emotional, this blog won't be like that at all. It's mainly to keep track of my poker situation and to seek advice and keep my head in the game!

Too Many Retards

How am I meant to build up a bankroll when these retards at the low stakes call shoves with A7 and hit every fucking time.
$1 MTT Last Night
jase, Jan 19 2008
So I played a $1 tournament last night on stars, there was 1500 people, it was down to 50 people and average stack was 28k, I had 40k, I was on the button and I shoved all in with QTs in a steal attempt, probably not the best way to go as big blind, who was chip leader of the whole tournament called and showd JJ and hit a J on the flop.
I'd only just got to this table so I know the steal was a very bad move as I had no reads on any players and definetely shouldn't have shoved 40k into a 130k stack with QT.
I think next time I play one of these I'll be able to do just as well and make the FT, I'm confident I would have final tabled it last night had it not been for the bad steal attempt.

Want to move up so badly!
jase, Jan 19 2008
I clear my bonus for $30 in another 80 FPPs so then I think I'll have the br ($120) to start playing the $5 sngs and 4/180s !!
Can't wait, I'm crushing the $1 sngs but hopefully the next level of sng will have a more competent level of player so that I can stop only playing ABC/Position poker and start learning how to be a bit more consistent with steals, squeezes etc.
Also I'm going to try my hand at some of the tournaments with higher buy-ins, I find myself going deep most of $1 MTTs I play in but getting bored of folding and shoving over and over, which is a bad thing, I know.
If anyone would like to play some micro HU games on stars I'd be down for that as I know I need to work on my HU game.
Wow at this happening

So this is about the 3rd hand I've played in this SNG in the space of about 45minutes, villian has been very aggressive raising/re-raising with lowpair, nothing etc.

First Blog Post
jase, Jan 18 2008
So I decided to start a blog on here, mainly for my benefit, I think it may help me keep track of how I'm improving and how much I make/lose in the long run as I cannot for the life of me figure out PokerTracker.
So last night I came 4th in a local LIVE 100 person MTT, pretty bad result as I went to the final table with a chiplead, I'm on the button with ATs, SB folds and BB pushes all in, if I call I have about 15% of my stack left. I call and he flips over A9o, so I'm pretty happy thinking I'm going to be sitting pretty when I take this guy out, flop comes 994, rest are blanks and I'm left with a shortstack.
Next hand I'm dealt QKs and I shove, only one caller who shows A8o this time and the whole board are blanks until the river where an ace comes.
Overall, I think I did ok, I caught plenty of cards all night and can't wait til I run like that online and can hopefully take a fair bit of money.
Tuesday night I came 6th at the local tournament so I suppose I'm improving
BTW - I'm a low limit player, only about $80 in my Bankroll on stars (username - xghjase), I play SNGs, ring just isnt for me. I've been crushing the $1 18mans and 45mans, so hopefully I'll be able to move up to the 4/180s and the 5sngs shortly!
GLGLGL!
Also, forgot to mention, if anyone is really well aquainted(sp?) with Pokertracker and can help me out a bit I'm a fairly advanced computer user but don't know what stats I should be looking at in PT. So just give me a PM or reply here to my blog and let me know
