I clear my bonus for $30 in another 80 FPPs so then I think I'll have the br ($120) to start playing the $5 sngs and 4/180s !!
Can't wait, I'm crushing the $1 sngs but hopefully the next level of sng will have a more competent level of player so that I can stop only playing ABC/Position poker and start learning how to be a bit more consistent with steals, squeezes etc.
Also I'm going to try my hand at some of the tournaments with higher buy-ins, I find myself going deep most of $1 MTTs I play in but getting bored of folding and shoving over and over, which is a bad thing, I know.
If anyone would like to play some micro HU games on stars I'd be down for that as I know I need to work on my HU game.

Don't expect briliant play in the 4/5 dollar SNGs/MTTs. They are filled with the exact same donks that play 1.20s. The difference in skill is so marginal it's irrelivent. You're just gonna have to keep playing ABC poker to win em, trust me on this. You start doing fancy shit it will most likley make you tilt after getting called down w/ garbage repeadatly.
Don't move up to higher buy-ins until you're rolled either. If your plan is to become an MTT player the 4.40 180s make excellent practice on how to build a stack, and most importantly how to close the deal once u get to the final two tables. The advantage of these is you'll be at the final two alot more often than your opponents, and alot more often than in the huge MTTs. The single most important skill a MTT player needs to learn is how to close. After you've won a couple of these, at around 400ish I'd say, you can move up to the 22 180s. There you will notice some skill difference, but it will still be very minor. Early on they will play exactly the same as the 4.40s, you might notice some better players making it to the final two and the FT, but still they're mostly donkeys.
Now after you've won a couple of these you will be nicely rolled for the mid-stakes MTTs and rebuys running on Stars. Dunno why I made such a long post in your blog, I've grinded my way through these micro stakes plenty of times before so I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about. Remember, the #1 skill at these stakes is patience. Hope this helped. |
