A little update
  gororokgororok, Jan 19 2009

Sooo I guess i should post a little update.

December was super awesome, made around 8,5k including rakeback. Failed to reach Supernova by 6k vpp, but stars is sending me 100K FPP once I reach supernova this year.

So I bought HEM and it's really nice. For all you PT3 users, buy hem. After december I stopped grinding as much as I did in december. And now that I have HEM I can post these stupid EV graphs! So here's januari. Really don't care about running below EV, I feel confident about my game and on nl100/nl200. For now I'm playing nl100, overrolled but I like it this way.

Thx Lee!
  gororokgororok, Jan 02 2009

So I mailed stars about coming short to supernova.

Dear Scotty,

I would mail you back on jan 1. So I do. I was stuck at around 6,8k vpp.
Tried everything to get it, got more than 35k vpp in december but I failed
by a bit in the end. Is there some way that I can have a few extra days to
get the supernova status? Normally getting supernova isn't a problem but I
only started playing on pokerstars in august, since then I was sold and
only play on Stars. I haven't played today since it's newyear and like
everyone i'm a bit hungover. 3 extra days would do the job no problem.
Anyhow thanks in advance whatever the outcome may be.

Yours truly,
Marco van Veldhuizen

Got this back.

Hello Marco,

Here is what we can offer. Earn 100,000 VPPs in 2009 and we'll credit your
account 100,000 FPPs. Thank you for playing on PokerStars.

Regards,

Good Month
  gororokgororok, Dec 19 2008

So after 2 rough months, december has been sweet to me so far. With cash and bonusses i'm up 5k this month. Still in my quest to reach supernova tho. Need to gather 23k vpp, gathered 19k this month 6 tabling NL100. Also did my first shot on nl200, which went pretty bad because I tried to ran over the table without knowning the players, went down 900, focussed a bit after that and got 400 back. After that I had to cash out 1.8k but NL100 was sweet and I'm at 5.6k+ now. Yesterday I 6 tabled 2 nl200, 4 nl100 tables and managed to win on both limits so that was pretty sweet.

Here's the monthly graph

Now I really hope stars will give me a little break on the required VPP points, because frankly I think I can manage 18k vpp but 23k is a lot.

Running hot, moving up to nl200
  gororokgororok, Dec 05 2008

So after a big downswing I learned a lot and came out a better player I think. Started to grind a lot on nl100 and ran pretty fucking hot! So after 100k hands on NL100 i've made 3.6k profit without rake. That's pretty fucking low but I ran bad for at least 60k hands of those. Now my roll is a little over 5k and gonna take my first nl200 shot. Waited sooo long for this! I'm very very excited about it. If I lose more than 5 bi's I will drop back to NL100. If I lose 2-3 bi's when I'm done with the session I will regrind this on NL100 as well, unless I feel I have a big edge on the players but just ran bad. Here's my graph of december lol. Sweeeeeet run.

Any hints for the next limit? Wish me luck!

November
  gororokgororok, Dec 03 2008

I didn't ran and didn't play to well in november. I only played nl50 when I needed the money. Cashed some bonus and made just a few bucks in nl50. Pretty fucked up huh. However! Things changed in the end of the month, I entered a 8.80 rebuy tournament and did pretty well. Ended up 7th for 1.2k which was a great boost for my br. Entered another rebuy 10+1 and ended 18th or so for $150. After the the 8.80 rebuy 7th place I was able to play nl100 again. Ran very well for 3 days and made 15bi's on nl100. Overal I made 7.7k in poker since august without rakeback. Now my br is 4k and if I continue to run/play like this for a few more days im rolled for nl200 lol. Pretty weird how you can struggle for 2 months and then suddenly make up for it in a few days. I must say my play improved some as well after watching a few cardrunners vids. Atm I play around 22/21/4 6 tabling nl100, also I started to 3 bet even more and counter 3bets by 4betbluffing, even tho I find 4betbluffing still a bit risky I do it now and then.

October
  gororokgororok, Oct 30 2008

Ok, so october was a horrible month. Never had so many suckouts and coolers in my life. It started ok the first days, not great but ok. Then the doomswitch was turned on and I it sure was a hell to play. It has continued for the whole month. I can whine some more but whatever. I'll post a graph to begin with.

Yesterday things seem to turn around, but I just had a small session and things were pretty bad again. So I didn't achieve my goal for 30 bi's this month, I hope things will change soon. I so so wanna go to nl200, but I need to win another 2.5k since I cashed out a lot. (roll now is 2.5k)

Some examples of how bad I ran. I don't even wanna go into the 4/1 fav and coinflip ones.

Anyways I hope things will be better in november and move up to nl200. I think normal run of 2 weeks should be enough to reach this. C'mon Lee's replacer give me 2 weeks!
I really want to say this to all the NL50 guys, MOVE UP TO NL100, free money everywhere.

Last 4 weeks
  gororokgororok, Oct 16 2008

Ok so a little update on my poker progress so far. After running through nl50 in 1.5 week I started nl100 with a 2.5k br. So far I've played 60k hands on 0.50/1.00. The result so far is up for 25 bi's. However I haven't ran that hot on nl100 as I did on nl50. Things were pretty bad for some days. I think at least 2 out of 4 weeks I've had some rough times with extremly sick coolers and suckouts one after another, this decreased my winrate by a lot. Last week I couldn't win a hand and dropped about 8 bi's in 5 days, however after that I had 2 decent days in which I won most of it back. I do have some questions about my graph tho, my winnings without showdown have dropped dramaticly, probably because of a bad run too but maybe running a little bad isn't the only problem. Could this be a postflop play problem? Here is my graph.

I hope I can reach a winrate of 30 buyin's a month. So far that seems very doable. I won a total of 5.3k so far so should have been able to play nl200. But I needed some money and cashed out about 2.3k. I hope I can reach nl200 at the end of the month. Before I do that I'll make a new blog entry for some advice.

I would also like to add some of my experiances on nl100 so far. I think most of the players in nl100 are pretty bad. Some of the regulars are ok but most of them are nits. After coming from nl50 at first I had a few problems dealing with the increased agression of the regulars, however they have a lot of leaks as well. Normally I 4table but I try 6 tabling these days some more. Because there really is no point in playing fancy on this stake, they will pay you off anyway. I bought a 26" tft so it's no problem to play 6 tables, however I do seem to nit a little up by playing 2 more tables, not to much tho.

I'm really really looking forward to nl200, after 60k hands I've had enough of nl100. And I hope I will be able to make 30 bi's a month in nl200. I've noticed that my motivation for poker increased by a lot when I reached 0.50/1.00, the money was more intresting and I've came by some more familiar names from LP. It's always good to chitchat a little with LP's on the tables and hear their point of view. Great community!

After 2 months of poker
  gororokgororok, Sep 16 2008

So i've been playing poker for a little longer but I never really picked it up seriously, always cashed out quickly etc. Now I didn't and I plan on making it as far as possible. I started first week of august.

Comments and advice are very very welcome!

Restared poker
  gororokgororok, Apr 13 2008

So I decided to start playing poker again. Deposited 30 dollars into my ps account and started to work my way up in NL5. After a session of 5 hours im up 12 buyins to 90 dollar. After a month of breaking even or losing some money on heads up sit&go's I'm finally running good again. Hopefully I'll get to 250 after this week so I can move up to NL10. Still have a long way to go :-)
